    In my opinion (and probably a lot of others as well), *blocking* is much more _important_ and _valuable._ A bit next to that would be *neutral* and *spacing.*
    These basic fundamentals need to be good, *period.* It's _better_ to have _shorter, more reliable_ combos and _good heads-up reading,_ rather than trying to throw out fat, super complex combos and end up just dropping them _all the time._ You should get good at _everything else_ *first* and _avoid_ crazy combo strings, since, in the end, you won't land any of it until you figure out the spacing and _when_ to counter-attack anyways.
    I suggest making a _very_ in-depth video on all these points (but don't rush it; Quality>Quantity), and how to improve upon them. *Good luck out there, everyone!*

      i think a lot of people underestimate how much damage even an auto combo can do especially considering it doesn't cost any bar. I have seen so many people with just better combos then me just lose to the fact that i had more bar at the end because i did't just use it for a bit of extra damage every combo.

      You are correct on combos, a simple Light->Medium->conversation into 3x Light for knockdown is more than enough.
      Blocking is good but overblocking is real, you should reflect and guard cancel too or you never gonna reach that comfort level...
      Reflect the overheads, and guard cancel after the heavy lands in a block string.

      Very good point, but having good combos and being a good player in every other regard are different skills that you develop in very different ways. The best way to hammer in the muscle memory of long combos and short dashes is by playing alone in practice or arcade mode, but you can only really develop the other skills by fighting good players.
      I wouldn't say that you should definitely learn one before the other. It differs from person-to-person; what their schedule is like, how many friends they have that also play, etc.

      in general a good basic blockstring is 2x L, down+M, M, H, and a quarter circle special ability to end the string (at that point you either use assist to do the blockstring again and push your enemy to the corner or if your assists are on cd you retreat and wait for recharge to go back in)
      Most blockstring are the same except some chars who have their unique, like for example Cell can go 5x low with 2L 2L 2M 5M 6H...

    • @darrellcovello7917
      @darrellcovello7917 Před 6 lety +1

      ÀbßølūtēlyÁbßürd for combos, it took me awhile to figure it out. As a rule, you won't be able to extend your combo with an assist after you have used a 2H into Super Dash, basically because they are too high up. So you will definitely want to use your assist toward the beginning of the combo, like after a 2MM jc LML jc LLL. You will GENERALLY press your assist button on the 2nd hit of the LLL chain so the enemy falls into it. Try to time the button presses together (Light Light+Assist Light ).
      As for blockstrings you should hit your assist button during the second to last hit in the chain, so the assist hits in between your old chain and new chain.
      Hope this helps, and keep in mind these tips won't work for EVERY assist or combo.

    Question, Globku: should I use the dpad for blocking or the joystick, I use the joystick, for supers specials, etc. the reason I ask this question is bc whenever I block low, since the joystick is sensitive to movement, I end up standing while my opponent is doing a low attack, and get myself killed, I still have lots to learn about fighterz, and frankly, I spend 85% of my time on practise mode, looking for combos, but first, I memorize the moves, then the basic attacks (low light mid heavy standing, aerial and aerial launcher)then auto combos, then I put all the pieces together, for example: So, what I do is do the first 3 hits of vegito blue auto combo to send opponent into the air, then do 2 lights into aerial launcher jump cancel then do the same thing but instead of aerial launcher, I do spiral heel kick, and if I do mess up and do an aerial launcher, I do atomic buster. but the problem is that I know that vegito has so many options after the atomic buster but I don't do them. so, I don't know how this came from me asking if I should use my dpad or joystick to telling you what I do with vegito blue but..Hope you respond, love your videos. I’ve been player her since day 1 & I have no idea what I’m supposed to do with that move. Also the option to not call 17 seems kinda useless because the Medium version doesn’t do a wall bounce which it should, & you get nothing off of the Heavy Version .

      Android 18 is getting fixed in the next patch and I hope they do something about her command grab, making the use of it really clear for us.

    • @DXYS95
      @DXYS95 Před 6 lety +2

      I've been playing 18 since day 1 too. There are some ways to use her command grabs reliably, however all of them switch positions with the opponent, which is bad: if you are on the offensive side, the opponent is usually in the corner or close to it. However, if you need to kill a character which is very low on health, they are a pretty good option. What I like to do is:
      1) Perform a blockstring, call an assist to cover the gap, get in with a L attack and follow it up with a L command grab.
      2) Perform a blockstring like L, L, 2M, M -> M command grab. The M attack puts you close enough to the opponent so that your grab will connect, but be wary of a couple of things. First, you need to delay your command grab a little bit after the M attack; if you do it right off the bat, the grab won't connect because the opponent is still in blockstun from the M. Second, experienced players will stop blocking low once they see your 2M. So, if you try to do a command grab, there will be a gap in your string and, since they are stand blocking, their character will start moving backwards, escaping from your grab range. So only do this in the corner.
      There's also another way I found to use the grab, and it's actually pretty good at dealing with Cell's blockstrings in particular. That character is a nightmare when it comes to pressure, so I brought him in the lab to see what 18 can do against him. Basically, this is what you do after Cell does a Vanish attack on you while you are on the ground. You block the Vanish attack, then back dash, then reflect and eventually you perform a command grab. Why does this work? After Cell Vanishes, he will usually go L, L, 2M, etc. That's all you need to know. So, you are basically blocking the Vanish. Then your backdash will escape Cell's first L. Your deflect will deflect Cell's far reaching second L. Now, his next attack, 2M, will stop just in front of you: here's where your command grab comes into play and punishes him 100% of the time. Do not attempt to punish him with any other button, not even L attacks: 18 will advance forward and will get hit. It's funny, but the command grab is the safest option there. So I usually use the M grab, then Vanish when 17 hits to get a conversion. Or I just level 3 after 17 hits and puts Cell in a sliding knockdown state

To add onto that, I suggest holding down the direction that is away from the nearest corner (for the most part). Hope this helped! :)

    • @EmmanJo1128
      @EmmanJo1128 Před 6 lety

      I believe if they drop a string on the ground, you can recover and immediately start blocking and/or counter. Of course, block low on default (unless you see them pop off the ground).
      A few notes to add from my previous post; you might not always want to hold to tech immediately, as a thing called delay-teching is required to get out of setups in some situations. As well as that, if I recall correctly, you can't hold S (Special/Ki) to recover, and it has to be L, M or H. One last tip; when knocked down, I'd recommend holding down to stay down and grounded against an overly aggressive opponent, especially in a corner pressure situation.
      (Sorry for taking too long to reply, as I wasn't able to get to play and test these things out and see if they were the case. Gotta have some truths/evidence to back me up, after all. Otherwise I'm just spitting out non-sense. Anyways, take care and good luck out there!)

    When I get tossed in the corner, I can't get out because of the down/heavy attack the other player spams. And forget combos. All the practice I put in to do the built-in combos doesn't mean shit during a real fight. I never get an opportunity to use them.

      Sorry I know this is late but my guess is you’re probably not used to setting up the combos. In training you can simply walk up and light attack but in a real game you have to set it up with either an instant air dash heavy or something like that

      Focus on hit confirming, so get you opponent in block and then as soon as you get a hit react to it and start your combo based on what live you hit

      Germanman 02 Click the left analog stick to begin controlling it and it’ll say “Standing By” and then click the left analog stick again and it’ll say “Recording”. Do what you want to practice doing and then click the left analog stick again to save it and click the right analog stick to “play” your opponent’s actions while controlling your own character

    • @nixuniverse5240
      @nixuniverse5240 Před 6 lety +2

      Barry Allen I usually do what I do when I play street fighter & during neutral I just push down a few times just Incase someone is gonna start a string with a low attack.

    • @FusionKush
      @FusionKush Před 6 lety +1

      NixUniverse pushing down is the best way too block then? I want perfect blocking experience like this dude in the video. I can probably block a hit or two through out the match but i will get my ass handed to me like always but theres no blocking button. Its all on the control stick and that bugs me because i prefer to block with a button like in smash bros or injustice 2. I guess i still need more time on training.

    • @nixuniverse5240
      @nixuniverse5240 Před 6 lety +2

      Barry Allen oh well I wouldn’t say it’s the BEST way, that’s just how I do it. One thing that would help is learning other characters block strings.
      18 players like to do :
      Light > Light > Cr.M > S.M > Ki Blast > Qcf + Special > Assist as a Block String
      So in this situation you wanna do
      Hold Back > Keep Holding > Hold Down Back > Hold Back > & Keep Holding for the Rest of the string & rinse & repeat.
      Adult Gohan players like to do
      Light (which is a Low & Mid Hit) > Light > Cr.M > S.M > Jump > Fast Decent into Light (that’s a mix up) into blah blah blah, so you wanna do
      Hold Down Back > Hold Back > Hold Down Back > Hold Back > Detent the Mix Up & Hold Down Back > Hold Back etc.
      It’s always good to learn other characters even if you don’t play them so you can get a better understanding of how they play & learn how to beat them.

    • @nixuniverse5240
      @nixuniverse5240 Před 6 lety +1

      Barry Allen people also like to start strings with Cr.M, which is another reason why I frequently press Down during neutral a lot.

    All seven of these methods can't help you...if ur pressured into a corner against people like vegeto gogeta adriod 17....there assists and fight methods ....if your good enough.....don't allow u you to attack because you can't block against three people at once and assist combos don't allow u to fight back much according to ranking...the only thing u can use is deception....what is really needed is something like they have in killer instinct....LIKE COMBO BREAKER !!!!!!!!
