- Teching dragonrush?!? ONLINE?!? IMPOSSIBLE!!!! Or is it? We all struggle to tech dragonrush sometimes, especially on netplay. Let's learn some ways to deal with dragonrush, even when the connection is too laggy to let us react.

Considering that we're all stuck with online being our only way of playing DBFZ this year, I wanted to focus on some options for teching dragonrush and dealing with mixups that can work even when the lag is too high to react consistently. Let me know if any of this was new to you, or if it was helpful even if it was all old news!

"Just mashing" is definitely something I need to do more often. I tend to always be patient and rarely be disrespectful, even when I know my opponent is just abusing my respect.
Tho playing Trunks improved that aspect a bit. Hitting his lvl3 raw is very satisfying!
Maybe if Doto saw this he would tech more dragon rushes.

Your videos are amazing and this is definitely one of the better fighting game channels I’ve seen across ALL platforms. This video in itself is so informative for how old it is. I myself cannot tech it for the life of me and I always tried to think of an option select mindset. But I really want to just be able to react with a dragon rush.
You may be the best coach I've ever seen. You voice is calming, your information is well thought out and processed, and you are just all around a nice person. You deserve every sub you have and more.

Your comment about beating players by just staggering is real. I play three stagger-heavy characters, two of whom have little/no traditional mix, and it works more often than it doesn't. It's also very easy to tell when I'm up against a good player, because they will properly check the staggers.

God I've needed this so badly, since I play on ps4, since my pc runs offline at 4 frames at low quality, and 1 frame online(it was made for my mother to do work, not for gaming), so its incredibly hard for me to tech dragon rush, so this video has helped me a whole lot

You can generally beat Broly’s command grab armor if you’re committing to mashing, but if you try to delay at all (or are too slow) and not get frame trapped the armor beats you.

I have learned to tech a dragon rush more from watching these. It used to be a 20% and now at a 80%
I'm actually surprised in the last Segment you did not mention Back Dash. When they 6M you can back dash and they DR your BackDash beats DR and you get a punish if they DR
I still like the videos even though I quit fighter z. Reason I quit was because no one would teach me and constantly say oh keep at it you will get better. It never happened. I sucks because I really love dragon ball but I suck. I was ss3 rank.

3-4 frames? Which ones? The good ones or the laggy ones.
4 frames sometimes feel Really smooth and sometimes feel like 9 frames
The frame delay doesn't always reflect the consequences of latency. Sometimes you can have a game at 4 frames input delay but the frame rate of the fight itself authentically becomes slower or jittery.
Not much you can do in those situations except deal with it.

funny how i am not a major fighterz player, yet i have met this man from staten island new york city. who can not only never tech dragon rushes, but gets 15-0ed on net play. he complains about 4 frame delay but he plays bad characters. in conclusion, i blocked a kid buu mix up on the first hour i played the game, and my friend vince cant even block a super dash.
I don't know if they've patched it yet but I'm pretty sure Bluegeta can hold 1S when blocking and it'll automatically tech DR

But it opens you up to getting hit by a frame trap.
It's the same with holding any button during a block string, you can hold 2h and do the same thing.
But if they frame trap you or delay a button, you get fucked
I *think* they removed that glitch in the 3.5 patch but I'll need to check.

Anyone else having issues playing in ring matches? Use to be able to play with friends and watch matches no problem but lately it's been always 3 frames or above delay and most of the time I d/c or I can't watch my friend fight someone. It is also happening to my friends too.
adult gohan can db+s ki blast to dodge dr and the 2h os is better on tien, all vegetas, a21, cuz they airborne sooner 2h always wins or techs for them.
I tested most of the cast, other 2h get thrown on startup frames

I might have missed it, so sorry if it was mentioned in this video, but I heard somewhere that teching dragon rush with the DR button provides a wider window for teching than teching with another button, is this actually correct? Or are all tech button options equal?
It doesn't let you wait longer to tech the DR, but if you're too early it will be fine. When you try to tech with buttons other than DR, if you are too early then you will lose.

Go to bootcamp and talk to whis he'll teach u
depending on what kind of knockdown you've been hit with, and what your characters options are, you might have to just eat your opponents offense and hold block.
If you get hit with a hard knockdown (post level 3), your options are basically block/reflect/level 3/DP, or if you're expecting them to grab you you can jump/tech/SD
if you're not hit with a hard knockdown, and you can tech or delay wake up, you're likely better off mixing up those options into block, dp or pressure of your own.
unfortunately, all of these options have some certain degree of risk. Best thing you can do is just play the game, and learn what is most effective in what situations.

Why is there frame delay in training mode here?
Since I was recording on PC (which has roughly 2 frames less input delay natively than PS4), I add the two frames of delay so that the game feels roughly the same as it does on PS4.

Back when guilty gear xrd was first appearing at Evo, I would hear stories about the Japanese players adding a frame of delay to their side, because they were used to the arcades which had more input delay than consoles. Even though it might have made reacting to mix-ups more difficult, it was worth it to have the game feel like they were used to.
