DBFZ - 3 Drills To Improve NEUTRAL

  • I thought it would be helpful to publish some Drills for Dragon Ball Fighterz. I’ve always liked the concept of being able to workout by yourself in training mode. However, I used to wish there were more popular “Drills” and “Routines” available in order to help my workouts and give me some new creative ideas that I can use to improve different aspects of my game. This video in specific talks about exercises you could do to improve one of the dominant aspects of DBFZ: Neutral.
    Music: Dragon Ball Z Ultimate Tenkaichi - Adventurous Spirit
    Drills
    0:20 Drill #1: Fullscreen Drill
    Set up the recordings as displayed in the video. Set the Dummy to “Guard All” and Counter Attack to “Play Recording”. Set the Playback Method in the Recording Settings to “Random”.
    Fire a few ki blasts, wait to see what the Dummy does, react, repeat.
    It is easiest to place all the recording values to 0, and adjust from there. Placing it to 2 instead of 1 means that it’ll occur twice as frequently, etc.
    You can adjust the values to whatever you want to work on.
    Decreasing the distance between you and the Dummy makes it more challenging.
    Adding more movement makes the drill more challenging.
    Including more recordings makes it harder to auto-pilot.
    3:20 Drill #2: Super Dash Options
    Set up the recordings as displayed in the video.
    Fire a few ki blasts, and when they SD, block for a bit. There is a small window where you can visually confirm if they back dash, front dash, or jump.
    At first it will be hard to react, but as you get the hang of it you can punish or pursue these options.
    SD + Assist is unreactable, which is why I recommend blocking for a bit.
    6:30 Drill #3: All-Out Movement
    Set the Training Dummy to “CPU” at level 100. Give them 0 Bars in order to limit random super attacks. Set assist to “Quick Recovery”. You can give them Beam or C-Assists to make it harder for them.
    The whole purpose of this drill is to just MOVE around. Try to avoid the CPU as much as you can with different movement options, while still trying to fire some ki blasts, jabs, hit confirm, 2H superdashes, reflect, etc. Challenge yourself!
    This is a pretty fun drill.

    • @NovaZayn
      @NovaZayn  Před 3 lety +1

      Sorry for the late reply! I've been thinking of making a video on Character specific drills, so maybe that could help.
      But Blueku overall has decent movement with his shoulder tackle and his dive kick. Dive kick + assist is very strong, and shoulder tackle can be used in zone 2 to beat ki-blasts and to stall aerial momentum. His own ki-blasts are also great to move around with IADs to back off or to close the distance.

    Great video man, even tho I personally prefer to play against real players to improve my neutral (and overall skills) instead of dodging a bot.
    Just a question: how long do you recommend to do the first 2 parts? 10 - 20 minutes?

    • @NovaZayn
      @NovaZayn  Před 3 lety +4

      Yes same but sometimes I feel like getting in the reps in a controlled environment helps me improve faster than getting a few reps in a chaotic one. It depends on you, but I like doing the 2nd part more often to make it more of a habit (5 minutes but more frequently throughout the week). The 1st part is whenever you feel comfortable with the options you’re working on!

    • @NovaZayn
      @NovaZayn  Před 3 lety +2

      Haha hope I helped! Neutral can be “random” at times with super dash involved, but you can structure your movement in a way to be more “efficient” in neutral. This makes me want to make some videos on certain movement options

    Hey man thanks so much for the video, just what I need. I have a small question if you or anyone else reading this can help. I'm a fledgling, when I try to record the jump dash JLL JH in the first drill my character always blocks so I can't land the combo to get the recording, is there a way to stop my character from blocking during recording? Thanks all.

    • @NovaZayn
      @NovaZayn  Před 3 lety +2

      So ur saying when ur the training dummy for the air to air right? You don’t need to make contact, just go full screen, dash jump and press jLL j2H in the air before you land. It will look like ur only doing jL, but the rest of the input comes out when they actually make contact with you!

    • @jim_cognito
      @jim_cognito Před 3 lety +1

      @@NovaZayn Ah I see, thank you very much. I thought that I had to make the contact to get the recording and trigger the combo, so when the video mentions making contact I thought I was missing something. Thanks again for the reply and the very helpful video!

  • @b1akn3ss93
    @b1akn3ss93 Před 2 lety +1

    Why record blocking if you set the training settings to block all anyway?

    • @NovaZayn
      @NovaZayn  Před 2 lety +1

      Because they will need to do something after they block since you set it to counterattack. If you don’t have the block recording, they will always dash jump, SJ etc & won’t stay still like in a real game where opponents may want to notice your patterns before making a move

  • @jonathangordon4742
    @jonathangordon4742 Před 3 lety +1

    These neutral drills work for hit too right ? I should apply the hit vid you made to these drills and I'll get better right ?

    • @NovaZayn
      @NovaZayn  Před 3 lety +2

      The 2nd and 3rd drill work for Hit, but not the first one since he doesn’t have Ki blast projectiles. For Hit, as displayed in the Hit vid, you can practice more specific things like maintaining your distance and hitting them when they land with the use of different movement recordings (have them SJ float, dash forward, dash back, etc). You can also have the CPU perform different movement patterns into assists (IAD back into beam assist into dash forward, super jump float above you + assist, etc) and practice reacting to his counter. You should also practice counter super dashes while Hit is in the air.
      These drills does improve your neutral to some extent, but there’s a “transition” phase where you then learn to apply your training to actual games. Actual games are much faster, but you’ll eventually start to notice their patterns and improve your own movement as well.
