GEVI has released its second entry into the world of home specialty coffee with a dedicated coffee grinder. The GEVI Grindmaster uses 64mm burrs, and promises a laundry list of sought after features such as static control, variable RPM, and grinding for espresso. But does the Grindmaster actually stack up against the competition, and can it justify the price? In this review of the GEVI Grindmaster, we find out!

Based on feedback provided in this and other reviewer videos, GEVI have made several changes to the final product. A list of all changes can be found here: docs.google.com/document/d/14xQllQiOB0bjNVnvhA5_6InQGtXc8Y4mf3u01V_xtY8/edit?usp=sharing
Thorough review, as usual. Will you also evently do a review of the timemore sculptures you mentioned in the video. Thanks!
Hoping to!
Price point can be a deal breaker.
Would you recommend this or the Varia v3 2nd generation with the supernova burrs, or the new Df64 gen 2 with stock burrs for espresso.
For espresso, I’d go DF64 Gen 2
Thank you very much for this informative video. I believe in the product as they are listening to feedback and are making great adjustments. Since then they made it 360 degree stepless, they upgraded the RMP adjustment knob to stainless steel with a plastic housing to meet safety certification requirements and, and they are working hard on improving the build quality addressing different issues that beta testers had, also on top of now being stepless they even went further and are shortening the thread pitch to 5 micrometer to further enlarge its espresso range and modified the structure of some inner parts to make sure there won't be any drift problem. Moreover, they’re changing the charging port of the scale to a USB-C port. they are upgrading the back cover, the dosing chute, the anchor to make it even more robust, and they are aware of the little bit of residue in the prebreaker area and are working on eleminating that as much as possible.
Personally I'm really interested in this grinder, I really love how it looks, and the feature set are every thing I was looking for. For the current super early bird price it's a steal. I had a deposit earlier before launch and now have preordered it on idiegogo with the SSP HU option.
Thanks for the info. It really does seem like a steal. I’m interested to see where it goes in the future
would this be a significant step up from my lagom mini if i mainly do espresso drinks? if not, what would you recommend in a similar price point?
Possibly, depending on what burrs you put in. SSP HU burrs would do nicely. Could put the same in a DF64 Gen 2 and be better off likely
Concise and informative, you got my sub. Thank you! I was considering this at the indiegogo price but now I'm going to pass. Build quality just doesn't look seem like it'll hold up and my Baratza works just fine for now. Sure does look good though!
With all the hyped grinders these days, I would love to see a timemore sculptor 078 review and how it stacks up with the gevi or the ode gen 2
ODE is still the clear choice, and my daily driver for filter coffee (in my opinion)
Sculptor is the better pick for espresso or an all-rounder
Grindmaster is a bargain at early bird prices, has more features, but is kind of in between the ODE and Sculptor in terms of grinding performance / flexibility
The 078 is not an all rounder, it is filter only (most reviewers think it is excellent at this). I think you are thinking of the 078s which is the espresso and filter variable version.
Correct, thanks for that important clarification
I know this isn’t related to this video but I would love to see your review on the new subminimal nanofoamer pro
We would too!
Still haven’t been able to get one from Subminimal yet
Inspired by classical architecture like your hair is inspired by daddy Hoff😆
Please show how easy/hard it is to open chamber clean and or change burrs
Very important info for a grinder review
Remove the collar and four screws, similar to Fellow Ode. Very straightforward
anti-consumerism with the policy is a big "no" for me
Mahlkonig X54 ❤
Weird choice to disallow burr swap… wonder what the issue is - is it difficult to do?
Not difficult to do, they’re just concerned about not re-installing properly and causing damage. No be fair, Timemore has the same policy
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder lol😂
I just checked their website and they are claiming that it is stepless. Hmm.
delicious
Isn't there a grinder, forgot which one, that has a bip when it ends the grinding, like we can't hear that there's no grinding going on. So it's noise to tell you there's no more noise 😂
The Fellow ODE Gen 1 did this, and they have since removed it (by popular demand) on the Gen 2
making an "easy to clean" burr set up, recommending it on their website to do it regularly, then saying your warranty is void if you change your burrs shows absolutely ridiculous company thoughts.
will never buy a gevi anything because of such stupid thing to say and do.
Gevi has 4:28 a terrible warranty! If your machine has an issue they will only replace it with a used machine. My replacement espresso machine had someone else's grounds on it and dried milk on the steam wand. No refund.
Zerno still looks the best to me. I rather buy product that have been on the market for a longer time. That have been thoroughly tested and adjusted accordingly.
Looks are subjective. I think it looks hideous.
Always true!
5-6 clicks for espresso and ugly as hell. Almost 1000 dollars what a joke. You’d be better off with Baratza encore esp.
