    Breville (or Sage) have been making home espresso machines for a LONG time now, and are what I consider to be one of the home espresso market leaders. With their newest offering, the Breville Barista Touch Impress, they look to completely obliterate the learning curves associated with dialing in espresso, and steaming milk for lattes. Does the new Breville Barista Touch Impress accomplish this goal? And who is this espresso machine for? In this review, we find out!

      You can eliminate the lcd flicker by fixing your shutter speed to something like 1/30s. You have to dial in the machine when it’s new, new coffee, and micro adjustments as the beans age in the hopper/bag. Does it track bean age and alter grind size to compensate?

    • @LifestyleLab_
      @LifestyleLab_  Před 8 měsíci

      This screen was refreshing at a very odd rate. At any shutter faster than 1 second it was flickering something terrible.
      No, it doesn’t track bean age, a click finer or coarser may be required from time to time, but very easy to track based on the shot times you’re seeing

      @@LifestyleLab_ oh that might be VRR usually used in battery powered devices. If the screen isn’t updating much it will clock down to like 1Hz. I think my Nikon z8 analyzes this and can compensate to eliminate it but might just be for 60Hz sources. Thanks for the reply! Liked and subbed. I’m still rocking the 870 from like a decade ago.

      Ver true. I bought my Bezzera machine because of many yt reviews and in the end I was shocked how heating up or using the vibration pump sounds like. Most videos have music or someone talking in the background and very few show how real life use sounds like

      @@damiangrouse4564 It's not for entertainment lol it's so I could actually hear what sounds the machine makes and how it'd be to use in the most practical sense.
      One problem I have with most of these machines is the annoyingly loud pump. Some machines isolate the vibrations/noise better than others.

    I have been waiting for this official review. I bought the machine just over a month ago and LOVE IT. As a total rookie with a baby in hand every morning I’m creating microfoam and pretty decent latte art since the machine reallly helps in the areas I need help in. I bought the impress and immediately took it back and went and bought this touch impress and am SO glad I did!!! The way it can give that tip on grind size and obviously the milk were two huge factors to justify the extra cost. My local coffee shops are probably going under now that I’m not a frequent customer ;)

      As pervious owner of Sage Barista Express - Breville=Sage, I would appreciate more better built quality that leads to longer than 2 years in service and reliable customer service than "useful" features that inevitably rise demands on maintenance side, leads to cost cuts where customer does not see but will experience it sooner or later. Fun to use until it brakes. And it will if you make your coffee on regular basis. If you care about taste and don't want to have bean to cup machine you will also ask questions, like where is properly scaled pressure gauge? Is OPV working? Also if you care about taste you will seek information what is needed to make coffee taste as it should. And passion for coffee I feel ;)

    gotta say this is a great review. thanks for taking the time to go thru it in such detail. In the market for a upgrade from a pod machine to an auto and this seems perfect. i especially like the 'auto' puck feature which is a bit of a game changer. thats the main reason i want auto vs manual. i just dont have the time, nor skill to try and get it right in the mornings or when we have friends over (ie grind, tamp, mess, repeat - no more with this). this seems to make sure you get it right every time after dialing it in. thanks again

    I just got this, and I LOVE it! Started using it yesterday, and so far it has given me some fantastic americanos and some really great oat milk lattes. I choose to steam manually because the minimum amount required for auto-steaming is too much for me. With this machine, you can basically forget about warmup, just turn it on and go. Pretty tiny footprint, too. It took me a long time to decide to get a machine like this, since I'm a pour-over purist, but this little coffee machine is fun to play with and produces barista-level results...and I don't even have a beard and tattoos! hahaha

I just wanted to be able to make cappuccinos at home whenever I wanted. This machine takes all the guesswork out of doing so. It’s so easy to use all three of my teenagers are using it as well. I have owned my Touch Impress for a few months now. I owned a $99 dollar espresso machine in the past. It was crap and, thus, never used it. I got tired of paying Bigbucks $8 a day for my quad latte. I am a novice and don't want to spend months perfecting my skill. I don't want several machines to make one drink. I don't want to spend 2k or way more on a machine. This all in one is a breeze to use and I make a consistent large, quad latte every day in less than 10 minutes. Cleanup is quick and simple. My biggest challenge was finding fresh roasted beans that I like but finally did.

    I'm upset at the CZcams algorithms for not recommending this video earlier! Very nice model, Breville knocked it out of the park and so have you with this review, LifeStyle Lab team!
    I wonder what you think regarding this vs the non-touch Oracle BES980. Here in Australia we're lucky to have them both at a relatively affordable 2000 AUD or about 1300 USD. I sell and repair these machines here in Melbourne Victoria.
    I know my answer as to how the Touch Impress and Oracle compare and their pros and cons, but wanting to hear from you and other users. I'm not exactly sure what differences occur in steaming choosing oat setting vs dairy for example, is it just marketing? Newer Oracle Touch model, I can confirm, now have Baratza marketing as well as MilQ (ability to select type of milk in menus just like Touch Impress).
    It's certainly a tough choice. Fully Auto low maintenance speedy single boiler vs a more capable but complex dual boiler. Decisions decisions...

    • @LifestyleLab_
      @LifestyleLab_  Před 8 měsíci +2

      If you’re making primarily milk drinks, and not enough at a time to take advantage of the dual boiler on the Oracle, then this machine is an easy choice. If you’re making straight espresso, or need the capacity of a dual boiler (4+ drinks at a time I’d day) then you might want to consider the Oracle if your budget allows

I have been using Sage Barista Pro for several years, this new machine does not introduce anything revolutionary that would make me want to buy it. A really excellent presentation. Clear, concise and no unnecessary verbiage. As a current pod user looking for a step up in taste without to much complexity this looks like the perfect machine for me.
    However in reading reviews on Amazon (and I recognize their limitations) two concerns emerge. Automatic machines in general seem to have quality control/reliability problems and poor customer service and Breville seems one of the worst in both regards. I wish reviewers would speak to reliability and customer service issues more in their reviews.

    I have the Pro model and the problem is that the grinder doesn’t always grind the same amount of coffee beans. So if the grinder in this machine also relies on time (specific set time it will grind the beans) instead of weight of the ground coffee, the results will be inconsistent, no matter how well you calibrate.

    • @LifestyleLab_

      I still have to decide, if I should use a single wall or dual wall filter and second - the real trouble is getting the extraction into to the 25-30 sec ballpark. On my old Delonghi Dedica, I have just holded the button and it programmed itself for a certain time. I think the Bambino can do the same. Why can't I simply tell the Touch impress machine to extract for those 25-30 secs, or can I?

      Here’s my broad thoughts on things like this. The more popular a machine is, the more complaints you’re inevitably going to hear. Breville is a prime example. I have owned every single one of their machines, and if taken care of properly, they last a very long time. But there are endless numbers of people complaining about reliability and performance. The more popular a machine is, the more entry-level, uninformed, inexperienced users there are going to be which leads to more complaints. The Touch Impress does not have muddy pucks if the basket is dosed properly like any other espresso machine. Espresso, also like any other machine will depend on your pock prep and grinder quality.
