Caio! We are Timo and Jo, an Italian and English couple with countless ocean miles under our belts, including sailing half way around the world from Europe to Fiji!
Last year we bought an Open 66 ft race sailing boat originally designed and built by the famous Hungarian sailor Nándor Fa, which he raced in the 1990 Around Alone & 1992 Vendée Globe (round the world single handed race known as “the Everest of the seas”), becoming the first non-frenchman to finish the race.
We are currently in Fiji giving this old gladiator a new lease on life, transforming her from an ex race boat to a performance family cruiser, which we'll need to make both dog and baby proof! We’re planning to set sail again in Oct 2022, so with limited time&money we have plenty of challenges ahead to turn our dreams into reality&get back on the water!
Subscribe to our channel&track our progress as we release videos about our journey as well as "how to" videos about anything boat related.
Never stop to dream, never stop to sail!

I really can't wait to see you splashed and rigged, such a lot of hard work nearing its success
Hey Ian thanks for all the supportive comments! We can’t wait either 😅
Wow! That rig! Holy cow! I love how the kids are just a part of the whole thing, here. Super fun! Great project.
Cheers Michael! Yeah looking forward to showing you the videos about the rig!!
Another ex racer conversion to a fast cruiser, NV and Duracell. Love it.
Cheers Daryl 🍻
Your amazing work is really exciting to watch vicariously here on CZcams, but oh gosh I am so so very much looking forward to seeing it all in real life. Counting down the days.
Yay Grant, see you soon 🍻
ready to launch
😅💪🏻
Another great episode can’t really believe the quality with all you have going on. Well done looking forward to more.
Thanks Hedley haha yeah it’s not easy to find the time these days, nice to know it’s appreciated :)
That is truly a labor of love !! She is looking great !!
Cheers Joe 🍻
Bravi complimenti un bellissimo lavoro!
Grazie Marcello! 🙏
caro mio sei veramente un vulcano , buon vento e serenità
Grazie Lorenzo
Wow, congratulations, it is realy getting verry nice!
Cheers Mar 🍻
the smile at 2:36 😆
Haha I know, what a cheese bag 🤣
Cruising with a 12+ foot draft will restrictively challenging.
Sure will be!
The toilet in the bow will be fun wile under way. It was at the mast for most comfort wile under way.
Well done Steve it's looking good.
Cheers Craig 🍻
Better than new......Congratulations!!
Cheers Trev 🍻
Everything is looking wonderful! Will you be increasing the weight of the bulb ballast at the bottom of the keel, in order to compensate for the loss of the water ballast tanks?
Will a separate space be included, so that the daughters of Timo will be able to have some "alone time," as they're becoming young ladies, and a young lady desires privacy once in a while.
A cruising yacht, regardless of size, can feel "cramped" on a long journey.
Overall, the way that you have all come together, designing, planning and bringing this incredible dream to life is pure genius! ❤💯
Heyhey great to hear from you. At the moment we think it’s impossible to increase the weight on the keel because it will raise our water line, which is already scarily close to the deck! We had a great chat with Nándor Fa, the builder of the boat and he said in this confirmation we don’t need the ballast. However because we want to be able to use maximum sail area we have kept some ballast (for the ginger beer ;) ). We plan to make extra pipe berths for Timo’s daughters, one each side at the very back, to give them a bit more privacy, and we’ll make additional hatches there. Thanks for watching :)
Super Dad handling baby and boot explanation
💪🏻🕺
Bravo!
Grazie!
Really need to get out of the race sailing mind set. Happy to see you bringing her back, but really think you should be making it more comfortable for crushing. She’s going to be a wet boat.
Maybe when we show the finished interior you'll see it's looking a lot more comfortable cruiser than racer. In terms of getting wet, we already have a big hard top and some clears. But with her for she'll always been a sporty sailing boat, which is also what we want
Gran bel lavoro Timo!
Grazie Stefano 🙏🙂
great job
Cheers Peter 🍻
NV is looking good 👍😃❤️
Cheers Paul 🍻☺️🙏
auhauhauha Timo u made me laugh so much :D
😉
sei un grande🤟
Grazie e mille sei gentilissimo
It looks like a lot of good improvements have been done.
Thanks Ryan 👍🏻🍻
Great modifications, well explained. Much easier to understand with people in the spaces. I wonder how you will arrange the storage. Curious about the vertical ribs on the hull in the double berth, will you cover them to avoid rollin into them?
Great to hear from you. We’ve left the ribs to attach storage cupboards and a rail to slide the double pipe berth along to change position. We’re creating storage in every space that’s left, stay tuned to find out more :)
Great video big project ❤
Thanks 🙏
❤️❤️❤️
🙏🙏🙏
where are you going to put the black and grey water tanks? i think you said the head in the bow is a direct discharge? i know within x amount of miles of the coast in many countries you are not allowed to discharge black or grey water.
Right, we are putting the tanks in the bow starboard side, opposite side of the chain locker :)
Amazing work great boat can't understand your language but looking at the work it is sturdy probably aluminum floor timbers underneath mast step and forestry fitting and was that solid rod look at those turnbuckles are they water free
Hey Graham haha thanks yes we’ve got quite a strong accent going on here ;) yep there’s an aluminium structure under mast base, but floor is fibreglass. Yep solid rod and yep we checked all turnbuckles, will show in future video! Thanks for watching 🙏🙂
@@SailingNV wondefull work you definitely got a great boat watching Duracell up in Washington kinda bores a young lad like me electric giant doghouse maybe figure winch placement watching you two you have great head on your shoulders a little more meat to sail the thing after your done as long as you know it is probably gonna be pretty uncomfortable either reef down, cut mast in height or have alot of ballast those sleds are not supposed to be easy for single handers any time you want to go over ideas I'm on the Westcoast foreman in a shipyard and I am willing to help you figure out problems and ideas
@@SailingNV any questions you got free consultation im a bull like you are and always do good work let me know if your ideas are not as steady as they should be I am a foreman in wooden shipyard for 15 years and I can help if you only ask
Pretty cool bro! I am in Darwin trying to refit 36ft Davidson to cruiser. I just found you. Maybe one day we sail together!
Cheers Jacob! Would be great to sail together! Good luck with your refit 💪🏻
Inside.. hobbit heights... 😉
Haha yes especially down the back! ;)

Thanks for the reply,I just watched the last episode over again, your location at Vuda Point is near to where I was from. Both Lautoka and Nadi.
The drone shots makes the boat look like it’s flying at 20 knots.
I’m sure you have seen the other open 60 that competed in the 1989 Vende globe- Project Duracel. czcams.com/video/hdGqTK3l6M8/video.html anyways if you haven’t it being converted to a cruiser aswell. Anyways new sub well done.
Hey Conan yes we’ve been in touch with them, they’re doing an awesome job, would be great to meet them on the water one day!!!
We could re-enact a Vendée!!
