  • This video attempts to answer another of the most popular and frequently asked questions about the Powell-Peralta Andy Anderson Heron 8.45" Flight Deck. The question is "What trucks should I use or will fit my Andy Anderson Flight Deck?"
    We all know that AA rides Mini-Logos as part of his set up, but this also seems like another recurring question that pops up every week and as the post gets older and forgotten, another person will end up posting the same question or ask others to post their AA set up with a particular truck size.
    We are introducing two skate truck brands in this video, Ace and Independent Trucks. Although JMAN has liked each of the brands and sizes, the combination that he has enjoyed riding the most was the Indy 149s with Bones P5 in 58mm skatepark formula (SPF).

    I absolutely love this board 8.45”. It feels so amazing , the pop, lightweight, flexible, durable. Flip tricks feel great on this board.

      How long have you been skating? I'm thinking about buying this, but I don't know if I want to fork up the money yet, based on my skill level.

    I read in a blog where the author mentioned they messaged Andy on Instagram and he replied with:
    “The 8.45 feels like a 8.25 and the 9 feels like a 8.75. The trucks should be a little narrower than the board to stabilize primos. I ride the minilogo 8.75 trucks with the 9 and I ride minilogo 8.38 trucks with the 8.45.”

    These videos are a help to the community. To be even more helpful I think a prolonged view of the straight on shot like in 5:39 mark would be very helpful to further illustrate the width of the deck vs. the width of the truck with wheels. Maybe a straight down top shot in addition to the angle top shots may help too. Lastly maybe having a straight edge to further illustrate the axle end to the deck may help illustrate how wide. Please keep these videos coming.

    I ride Indy 144 titaniums with that board. It's a perfect fit. I also noticed you have your bones bushings set up backwards. I've tried every configuration with bones mediums, in my opinion mediums have the perfect durometer, no break in period if you set them up right. Forget the directions or what some skate shop owner tells you. I'm a very experienced skater. Atleast 40 years. But I only ride up to date equipment. Try this: The trick is to get rid of the bottom washer/bushing seat. Those are for the bigger non tapered bushings, like the ones that come with Indy's. Keep them though. You may want that style one day. Keep and use the rounded top washer. I do not use the cheap washers they have included. Again use the Indy rounded washer for the top. It's basically the same shape as the bushing and fits nicely over them. The bottom bushing should have nothing under it. The hard plastic is enough. Your kingpin nut should fit perfectly now with just the top Indy washer. I don't know why bones bushings includes those cheap washers? Trust me use the ones that comes with your trucks. Again they are more rounded, and they cover the top of the bushing perfectly. Everyone I have pointed this out too agrees. My trucks respond like magic. Also get soft rubber 1/8 inch risers. I use them for shock, and as a gasket. I don't like metal baseplates, being screwed directly on to the wood. That's why I called it a gasket. And they also provide shock absorption. These are my first titaniums. They are the same as the regular stage 11's but slightly lighter. I already like them better...Again that bottom Indy washer is a seat for more squared bushings. Take em off and you will notice the difference almost immediately, better and tighter carves. Why bones confused people by adding their own washers is beyond me. Maybe for a different truck type. I just keep them and put them with the rest of my extra hardware. I also recommend Indy cross bolts to mount your trucks. 1" if you use a 1/8 riser. 7/8" without. Give it try. I can't wait to see Andy and see what he thinks. He rides mini logos. I have no experience with those trucks, but they're working out for him, and that's what really matters. What works for you. I've gotten so much bad advice from skateshops. I actually test their knowledge by acting like I don't know anything about set ups. That's how I know...oh by the way I just got the new Andy Baby Heron. But that's just the board. Andy rides nano cubics 52mm. I ride 54mm. I usually ride Bones side cuts STF 55-56mm. But the nano cubics dragon formula 54mm might be my new wheel. Good luck...and at least give it a try.

    Thank you very much! I only started at the age of 44 and am still a beginner, but I'm leaning towards 58mm wheels for this board (not bought yet) after having had very good experiences with 56mm on my 8.25". So I was looking for suitable trucks for 58mm wheels. I'll take a closer look at your recommendation with the Independent 149S.

    Thanks for making this! I’d love to see which trucks give the best “rail match” for primo tricks. I have some indy 149s and I am thinking of getting this board, so this video is just what I was looking for. From other comments, it sounds like that should be a pretty good fit!

    Cheers from Germany! 😊

    I think the hardest part about this board is how a lot of 8.5" compatible trucks will technically fit, but won't work for rail stands or freestyle where it needs to be snug with the edge of the deck to have things be 100% stable and predictable. I love my Tensor Mag light trucks on my 8.45" Andy deck, but it does not work for rail stand on this deck. The trucks are too wide. I'd be curious to find out if going with one size down for Tensor Mag Lights could solve it. Or whether I simply have to go with the Mini Logo trucks instead.

    • @letsgetit90
      @letsgetit90 Před 4 měsíci

      What Tensor Mag light size did you get? I would think you got the 5.5 size since it's up to 5.12-5.3

      @@matts.8356 Thank you . I found a good deal on one and am about to order it . Honestly , I plan on setting up this board as a cruiser to get comfortable riding again (mid forties and haven't skated in over 20 years) . Thinking larger Bones Rough Riders /Indy's would be great where I live , not many good/smooth places to skate here , mostly streets without sidewalks

      The Aces in this video are the old version Ace 44s. They fit this board pretty well.
      Keep in mind, the new Ace trucks have a new numbering scheme so apparently the 55s are now 8.5". I would check fitment at a local skateshop.

      Narrowest in AA's lineup is his most recent egg model at 8.4" x 32.5" 14.25"wb. The boards are designed to reflect his evolution as a skateboarder and competition he is aiming for. Don't think it will be a narrower in the future. Seems like everyone is riding a wider deck these days.
