Great review!! I am thinking of buying one. I don't need music on my watch, but having a speaker would definitely be great ! But the battery life and fitness tracking accuracy are what I actually care about more. Thank you guys!!!

It’s only $140. There are no negatives, for the money, you get what you pay for. Battery, rugged, touchscreen, and able to use it with gps and fitness.. worth the money.
I agree with the lady. I am getting this as well for its design(and some of its features of course). Other features they mentioned as cons like storage for music and speaker for calls, I think that's better reserved for a phone, which you'd be bringing with you anyway, regardless if those features are present. My only wish for this watch is that I wish it had an spo2 tracker.
I bought this app before 2 days ago and this the best watch and it feels very comfortable and also sweat free. And battery is amazing. Didnt even care about the calls.

Which smartwatch do you have?
I've seen many videos on this watch and this is definitely for the outdoorsy person that wants a watch to be a watch NOT an MP3 player... Don't need the music or internal storage for music. This is meant to be rugged and durable without the "oh crap" when your arm hits a counter top or a door way when you wear a $500 Apple watch. I don't need to talk into my arm to answer calls (that's why we have cell phones)..I want a watch not one that needs me to be like Michael Knight from Knight Rider as I talk to KITT. Only using their software is fine for me also because like Apple and their IOS system, it doesn't matter to me due to me having Android. And I love the price point and many other testers have actually gotten better results from the battery... The average I have seen is 6 days when using it heavily and 17 and up when using it lightly. Thank you for the objective review and I am looking forward in purchasing one myself :)

how is the gps accuracy
Amazfit Stratos 2 and 3 have 4gb storage, half of which is available for mp3. Connect with Bluetooth device. Notifications work fine with ios, haven’t tried others. They also have standard 22mm changeable watch straps. The Stratos 2 is slick elegant looking.

I think you have to activate double tap to unlock..it is not the screen problem, it occur too with my amazfit stratos when you not on that function.
It is for ppl like me who hunt fish and camp ect. The gps compas boromiter altimiter and weather and ruged build are the main features to me.
I bought it for entry into the Smart watch realm. Don't want to spend a fortune on it and battery life is a plus. Everyone always has their cell phone with them all the time so it will serve it's purpose just fine. I wanted something more rugged than the current smartwatch that looks like a computer chip in my wrist. My favorite watch is the Tissot T Touch Titanium Carbon Edition I use daily, this T Rex will for fitness monitoring only.

My whole things was mostly for a heart rate monitor. Something that I can get a better track of heart rate so that I can get a better sense of my daily caloric burn. I like the battery life. It’s ok that it doesn’t last 20 days. But if I don’t have to worry about it for 3-6 days then that’s good. Not having music or being able to speak into it aren’t an issue as I already have wireless headphones, so it’s redundant to have your watch do what your head set is doing already. That said, there is an ease of just swiping through a good smart watch to select music, but couldn’t one just ask Siri to play something through your head set? For me, really, all I want is the best and accurate heart rate monitor for the best price. Your video of comparing heart rates was what I needed to make this decision.

Is it possible to connect the watch to e.g. bluetooth heart rate band? I know it is possible on stratos (when you select the training type you can go to settings/accessories), but what about the trex?

Great video! I just purchased one just to try it out. Got the Chinese version though.. it’s not that bad, but it only has one language Chinese simplified..not even English.. but it’s cheaper than the international version. My came out less than 100 usd, around 90usd. I guess not just because it only has one language but maybe it’s because I got it a couple months after it came out so it’s not that “new” anymore.
Some questions I have for the watch are,
1. I understand that it’s 50m waterproof. But is it only for fresh water? ( pool, river, pond....) What about salt water like going to the beach? Of course I’m not talking about scuba dive cause of the pressure and all that.. just simply casual beach swim and shallow snorkeling activities.
2. I wasnt able to change the volume for my music through the watch. I had to adjust it via phone. Anything wrong? Or is it maybe just with my watch itself?
3. For the exercise categories, I don’t have the triathlon selection. I heard it will be available for download in near future but not sure. Is there a way for me to download it now?

It sounds like it’s an up graded version of the Fitbit charge 3 it has some of the same issues in regards to not receiving texts. In comparison the T. rex looks and has more features than the charge 3 and their about the same price
I have it, its very good choice if you want cheap, water resistant and strong watch. But you cannot switch music during any activity and thats pretty anoying if you are running, want to switch music and cannot do it, only on your phone or headphones. Another think what bad is that watch has GPS modul, but you cannot watch the GPS or MGRS if is it "army" or outdoor watches.
Please do a comparison of the G-shock GBD-H1000 vs Amazfit T Rex
Simplicity that lasts forever, I have seen durability tests for this watch and it's arguably indestructible

Hi, nice video! Can you help with some questions please? Can all the different watch faces be downloaded at once, so that you can stroll to select a different face every day. Do Android and iPhone users get all the same features?
Watch faces can only be downloaded separately which means you will have to go through this process every time, however, you can scroll and see them all with no issues. In one of our videos, we actually show Android and IOS with the t rex and no difference apart from a slight layout but that's all.
I rushed and bought the Amazfit T Rex Chinese version because it was sold out everywhere at the time in the US. Linked it to my phone and only some screens show up in English. Is there anywhere to download the US user manual so i can see be able to understand what settings im looking at ?

I've had the Garmin vivoactive 3 for 2 years now and looking for something different at an affordable price. If I can get the khaki version in the EU, I'm definitely going for it. Don't care about smart features that much but I hope notifications get sorted with an update.
Never been the biggest fan of Garmin but we also had the vivioactive. The T. rex looks and feels pretty nice and the screen is really cool. Overall it’s pretty accurate in terms of gps and HR. Not sure if all colours will be available in Europe..

Can you set an alarm on the t rex or is it the same as the bip? Where you have to use your phone to set an alarm on the watch, that's my biggest gripe about the bip.

Amazfaces app can overwrite the watch faces in the zepp app. The preview in the zepp app however doesn't change.

The Mi Band is actually not bad for the price. Personally I would always go with a traditional watch style so I would choose the Amazfit, the screen is really good. It comes in different color options and as for GPS/HR accuracy it is all in line.

Thanks for a very informative review, I will go a different path. Can you advise me on a ruggered ‘ G Shock’ style watch with user friendly Smartwatch features such as notifications, speaker with voice assist and a good OLED display? I love the Samsung Watch 3 yet for my job I require something more robust as it will get a few knocks, bumps and bruises. Currently I have an Apple Watch LTE series 3 which is fine but I am bored with its very boring navigation and very limited watch faces. If only Samsung built a tough and ruggered model with all the new Watch features, anything you guys or others here that know of an equivalent Android watch perhaps on Google Wear Os that would suit my wants and needs ?

Are they really good and I heard that T-rex doesn’t have them.. do u have any information about this
I've ordered one after much research. For me, the key features were gps and breadcrumb navigation. The only other contender was the Garmin Instinct, which is 3 years old already, and doesn't have an amoled screen. I hike and mountain bike so the rugged build sealed the deal. Not interested in playing music from a watch, so the lack of 3rd party apps doesn't bother me. The only thing I'm concerned about is the strap and I'm struggling to find decent alternatives. Cheers
I bought one myself and looking at the strap, it looks like it will last a while. When that goes though, i think a watch shop will be the place to look for alternatives... Unless amazfit puts out an official strap when this covid thing winds down.

@@chzbrgla turns out I was getting the specs mixed up with the Stratos 3. I've had the T-Rex for few weeks now, and it's great for the money. It's tough and not too big (if like me you've had GShock watches before). The GPS tracking is very accurate, as is the heart rate monitor. It's not got the most features, but it's very well executed. The screen in excellent. I will be getting a Stratos 3 later in the year though, mainly for the nav, but also just cos I'm so impressed with amazfit, I'll gladly have more than one!

Dorothy Gaskell Greta questions - as a basic fitness tracker and watch then yes - to qualify as a smartwatch then no - I would want notifications to be actionable on the watch and a speaker of course!

yes but I don’t have a strava account, therefore I am unable to test. I have seen that some people had issues syncing data and others don’t. so in theory yes but there seems to be an issue with Amazfit app. only gps activities can be synced.

Yep
Amazfit basically does big mi bands with GPS, wich not everyone uses. When I was looking for a smartwatch, after seeing the functions of those Amazfit watches, it was just a let down. For this price you can buy An Active 1 that has way more features. They are not so smartwatches

Can you please advise if T Rex tracks non-activity calories as well? For example if I sit all day (burning 1 calorie per minute), will it show me about 2200 calories burned in a day, or will it show me zero calories because of zero steps?
Nope, it only tracks calories burned from your activity and movement. I wish it would do resting calories, though

The GTR is more for an “elegant “ occasion. Personally I would go with the T Rex. I like the design much more than the GTR.

I am in two days into ownership with my TREX. First, it’s brightness is weak. In daylight, it’s not bright enough. Not even close. And...there’s no way shown in the manual to boost its brightness. Another thing I don’t like is that when I turn my wrist to activate the watch and see the time, it takes two seconds to show. It’s S...L...O...W. Next, your eyes better be good because even if you have a small astigmatism, you’ll struggle to read the small numbers on the watch. These are detractors that have me awaiting the iWatch 6 and wearing this when I work and don’t care if my watch gets beaten up. Wish I hadn’t bought this

Brightness can be adjusted easily, you have it on auto brightness mode.
Brightness is adjustable.... I went for 3 1/2 hr bike ride.... only time watch face was hard to read was right at midday when sun was directly overhead and hitting watch straight on. Not many devices are visible then. I just timed mine twisting wrist and it's 1 sec at most to change. I can't ask for more. I'm not trying to disagree or argue, but this watch is as good, probably better than the expensive GARMIN'S I've had. It's very functional and if it remains this consistent it will be an outstanding exercise too; for me.

is there an altimeter sensor on amazfit trex?
You can view the altitude either on the watch or in the app, but only after you finished your workout. It shows in form of a diagram. Hope this helps
What I really want to know is... Can I swim in the ocean or in salt water with this watch. I've read it is possible, but want to know from people who actually have the watch.

Yana, you DEFINITELY CAN swim in the ocean as well as freshwater with this watch. I have it and swim all the time in Mexico with it. :)
The watch can't swim. But it can be dunked in water. It got military certified spec. All Amazfit watch is waterproof. Mine take the bath with me every single day. The good 20 day battery life that I need not the Apple watch 5 that is good for 18 hrs !

I think you need to do more reasonable battery life tests. You are presenting two extremes and not a realistic middle of the road.
