Tayo Rockson is a powerful orator with a dream of bringing students, young professionals, and people all around the world the idea of diplomacy. Being the son of a diplomat, Rockson's experiences are powerful and observant, drawing connections between self-introspection and exterior socialization.
Tayo is the CEO of UYD Management, a strategic leadership and consulting firm that helps corporations improve their bottom line by incorporating diversity, inclusion, and social justice strategies. Tayo has spent over 20 years living and working in 4 continents. As a cross-cultural expert, he has spoken at the World Bank, United Nations Foundation among several other places. Aww thank you so much! I had no idea! In Yoruba it means joy and my full name Akintayo means The brave one/A warrior has brought us joy.

I arrived here because I wanted to learn how to use my difference to make a difference. Tayo spoke to my summer internship class at Moody’s Corporation in 2016-it’s great to see him across LinkedIn and CZcams spreading a message, posing questions. His public speaking has improved tremendously; no stage is too big or small. Keep going, Tayo!!
Understanding the differences around you, then finding the commonalities around them is art of diplomacy.
Embrace art of diplomacy
1. Get knowledge - To collect information - Observe things around you - what makes people feel good and what makes people feel sad. Can be a game. Coming together for a common goal.
2. By being an active listener - Establish mutual trust to foster a positive collaboration - learn how to listen to obtain info. Goal is to understand.
3. Become an active member of community - widens your perspective and able to approach problem with better perspective
Learn culture competence skill
World is bigger than you. If you want to win at it. You need to understand it.
Well elaborated the art of diplomacy. Decode the differences and seek commonalities.

Diplomacy is an art not everyone can master. No amount of motivational speeches or education can elevate you to be a great diplomat. Either you're born with it or you're not as good as the others.

Exactly my father was a history teacher, and my mother works retail. And we lived in a Small Town. But I always showed the World is Small but also big and you got to work with all of it to be successful even not as a Diplomat.
And during this Virus I am working on Lamguage Learning because I now have a goal to be a Diplomat. Funny thing is this is a good time to see that Global Commonality. In a Pandemic and Road Signs most of those are the same too.

Undrestand differences around you and find the commonalities within them. First is by collecting informations and get knowlege. Bt reading news and getting informed. Second is to be an active listener. Third is to be an active member of the community. Constantly put yourself where you're the odd one. Putting yourself in a group different than you help you understand difference and introduce to a bigger world.

Great speech. I studied international affairs & political science in american college outside the statea. I didnt have the opportunity to work in my field so i gave up & worked in marketing for 4 years then i moved recently to the states. I dont know from where to start. I want to work in diplomacy or something related to my field...advice me plz thank youuu

Sometimes Diplomacy is the best way to go regarding to any international crisis instead of direct aggressive military attacks.

Interesting. I wonder if he has any advice for someone going into the foreign offices field.
I might be able to answer your questions.
Tayo Rockson more or less of you know about anything one should have in order to be in that field.
Impatient Samurai so one thing to always keep in mind is that reading wide and being curious is very important. They sound simple but I cannot tell you how often knowledge about random facts helped my dad build rapport.
You also want to always be able to speak about things from a macro and micro perspective. So no matter what your opinion might be on a particular issue, be able to articulate the multiple sides before offering an opinion.
A good show to watch to see example of this would be Madam Secretary.
