      Hi L B,
Thank you so much for your kind message. I'm glad to read that watching my TEDx talk was valuable for you.
I wish you good luck putting the insights and tips in practice. Sometimes it will work and it will give you a feeling of peace and victory over yourself. On other moments, it will be less easy and frustrating. That's ok. Be gentle with yourself then and above all, be proud on the progress that you're making. I’m cheering you on!
Please spread the TEDx talk with your friends and colleagues. The more people I can reach, the more people will live in harmony with theirselves and others.

You don't need to feel more value then that of a plant or bug, since you are equally mortal. So if you follow that advise of pretending to be of a value that in the end is priced gently, you will only build up irritation over how you didn't kick back at the bullies or the burglars or the whatever who were illtempered or cynical etc. Utopianism usually fails in the long run. A better "strategy" is to realize that all others are the only ones they could be, at the only time they could be so and so, but that works for those who are arrogant enough to stand firm. If you are a more idealized buddhist monk or a Jesus-like type then others in your patience but have faith in others, then this means that the point of you being more self-controlled is a charade, a paper wall. If you walk into more risk to your mental wall, that helps you to build strength, if that is your purpose, so there I agree with the speaker. This has nothing to do with any value though. People who are treated very badly might need to hear that they are valuable. In reality none are however more valuable than others, so there comes a time sooner or later to realize that. The best strategy is to act as if you are facing death any time, and to be arrogant. If you want to help others, give them something extra for example. Or teach them to be cocky.

Absolutely changed my life for better. So much peace and no more abuse. These books teach you how to deal with unaware people. They usually don't realise they are hurting others and you as a more aware human can totally change your life (and maybe theirs one day).

Hi Mickey! The audience was rather quiet indeed. That is because hardly any sound was recorded from the reactions in the room. As a result, some reactions were added afterwards in the editing.
The silent audience makes many suspect that they didn't find it interesting ... And you know, that's possible. Or they didn't like my style, or they were tired, or... or...
Anyway; whatever the reason was, luckily I didn't take that personally :-)

@Principle At first I took it personally on the behalf of the presenter haha. "Why is the audience so quiet? Why are they there if they are not interested in what he has to say" was what I immediately thought. Then I thought that maybe the audio engineer set up the gig so you can mostly hear the presenter and not have any noise from the crowd which might explain why we don't hear them as much on the video. Regardless - a great presentation and huge thanks to Frederik Imbo for the life lesson!

    Some notes:
-Reasons we talk things personally is because of ego and the desire to be right.
    -Solutions:
    1) It's not about me. Look at WE. What's their intention. understand where they are coming from . For example, they want to be right, maybe they have a call they have been waiting for.
2)- deal with your negative beliefs. We take things personally because we know there is some truth in it. Big chance this is rooted in your childhood. So give yourself some empathy.
    3) By telling people how you feel without blaming others might increase the chance of people taking your feelings into account.
Remember whatever others do, you will always keep your value.

I disagree. This entire strategy is built on a not so healthy desire for everyone's approval. Convincing yourself that your friend is actually txting someone extremely important like their boss, or convincing yourself that they are just txting a random other friend who you don't think is that interesting, results in the same thing, allowing your self esteem to be based on other peoples reactions to you. And so you live in la la land about the whole thing, the point is that you dont actually know who they are txting, you personally wouldn't do that while hanging with a friend over coffee, but they have decided to be rude, and who cares, because your self esteem and happiness is no actually based on other peoples reactions to you. You don't actually need to be that interesting to friends in order to get what you need in life. Now in saying this, other peoples reactions tell us where we stand in society, what power we have in getting what we want or need from someone, and they tell us if there is a threat. So we need to acknowledge these things but at the same time find a different source for our peace of mind about life and our safety and prosperity in general.

Nobody pays as much attention to u as u think) u might think that whenever someone hears a new rumour about u, that’s all they’re thinking about all day but really, it enters their brain and escapes their attention the next minute. Coz realistically, when u hear something bad or scandalous about someone, do u think about it all day? No. Coz ur ego is trained to always be thinking about itself, not someone that probably has no significance in ur life. And ur ego is also why u think everyone’s always thinking bad stuff about u or looking at u. Ur not the center of attention, no one is. For example, when ur in the hallways, are u looking and examining every person walking by? No, u glance at possibly everyone. Ur attention is never on any one person but everyone. And it’s not true attention either that requires focus. When u realize this truth, you’ll have more peace of mind. Hope that made sense and helped ☺️

But what if they can not communicate and listen to the knowledge of others because their ego gets in the way, or they don‘t share their knowledge because others told them to shut up. Communication ist key, only then we can network and use the knowledge as a society. It is very important to take different perspectives into consideration and not play devils advocate all the time when it comes to complex questions of our time, like the future of our economic system. 2) it's about me, I deserve this. No way. Can't be.
      3) it's odd to take it. Not familiar. Against tradition. So I won't.
      4) usually bad guys attack by those acts. Are angry when they squash things. It's conformity to tough sad negative memory.

Why do we take things personally?
Because our ego thinks that others should take ME into consideration and it wants to be right.
Do you want to be right or happy?
Chose to be happy; feel freedom, more energetic and in peace. No one will have power over you when you choose to be happy and not right.
When you’re being criticized and it hurts, chances are big that this is rooted in your childhood.
We can only take things personally if it hurts a nerve, that is the moment you give yourself some empathy. Tell the other person what you feel without blaming the other person. This increases the chances that the other person understands you and takes your needs into account.
    Strategy:
Focus on the intention of the other person.
Shift focus from me to WE.
    Conclusion:
It is not about me. Look at the other person’s intention.
It is about me. Speak up without judging and blaming.
No matter how much people hurt you; verbally or physically, YOU HAVE VALUE! YOU ARE A MIRACLE!
