I love how MatPat and Markiplier just carried the fnaf fandom on their shoulders. We wouldn’t have FNAF without Mark and we wouldn’t have such a huge interest in this lore without Mat. I applaud you MatPat for going on with this for so many years

I've never been brave enough to play the games, but the lore of FNAF has always really interested me, so these timeline videos feel like a great way to ease into it.

My interpretation always was the the bite of '83 made William kill Henrys daughter since he would see the death of his son as Henrys fault, at least partially. If Henrys robot didn't malfunction, his son wouldn't have died. So he wants Henry to feel how it's like to lose your child.
And yes, Henry says that the tragedy stroke him first, but I don't think that he means the child deaths related to the story in general as the "tragedy", but rather Williams killing spree, which the bite of '83 isn't a part of.

Most of his "sources" are his own videos and non-canon material. So, kinda removes a lot of the validity of his "ultimate timeline".

@@ashlinthomas4500 If it's from the novels, except for the game guides, then it's non-canon. This was stated years ago that the events of the books are not canon to the game's timeline.

@@lumyn05 The games are the only canon material. The trilogy of Charlie and the anthology books aren't canon to either games or even each other. They're more like random ideas Scott and his writers have and put into the world. Heck, the books themselves exist in the game's timeline as merchandise, as is shown in Security Breach with the arcade machines referencing the Charlie trilogy. But no, it's not a case of "The games aren't canon" because the books don't really have a timeline. The only things that are canon are the events of the games.
This isn't a project, this is practically a doctorate in FNAF for Mat and the Game Theorist Team. Respect!

As a historian, I love how different this video is from your normal ones. I like how you focused on the story and didn’t go the route of “here’s a fact, here’s why it’s important”. This video was awesome and worth the wait just for your script writing and story telling abilities. All of it could have been wrong and I’d still have enjoyed the video

To start the timeline not from the 80s or 70s but from 30s is a very interesting step. As someone who haven't read the new books, I have no clue what' going on. But glad to see Matthew covering everything for us.
Tbf i have yet to finish Fazbear Frights book 10 (Friendly Face) book 11 (Prankster) and the digital bonus book (Felix The Shark) and I only have the first 4 books to Tales From The Pizzaplex that I refuse to start until I’m done with the Frights books (also have yet to finish Watchmen (graphic novel), The Ballad Of Songbirds and Snakes (Hunger Games Prequel) and Dune.)

I know im 3 months late, But its theorized that Willaim say the "Dancing bear show" alot earlier, Perhaps even 1960-1970, It was said by Matpat himself and other Fnaf Lore Enjoyers.
Honestly not only am I impressed; I am also absolutely nostalgic to see after 8 and a half years of how much the FNAF lore has really been starting to become this tangled out, and MatPat has still never managed on giving up to put it all together. We should be absolutely give this phenomenal man all the respect because of it wasn’t for him when he started way back in 2014, then even years later the lore of FNAF despite being all over the place would still never have been such an icon of memorization today.

When I opened these 8 replies, I thought I might find something interesting. I was severely disappointed.
The funny thing is that Scott has barely confirmed any of these timeline theories so it feels like Scott has made his story based off what the fan base makes

I would watch all the FNAF videos ten years ago when MatPat was first making them. It was so riveting to learn about the lore and dive into the game, without having played it. Now, ten years later it is crazy to think of how far we have come. I watched the movie last night, and let me just say, fan or not of FNAF - it was an amazing movie. Josh played Mike perfectly and gave us a fully fleshed out background on the character that I never knew existed. I was freaking out to all the nods made to the games and I can thank MatPat for helping me to learn all of those. I was screaming when MatPat had his cameo and said "it's just a theory." Bravo.
I have no words to describe how proud I am to live on the same planet as this guy.

This makes sense why Bonnie is suddenly gone in Security Breach, it was the fact that Afton held so much jealousy and anger towards the bunny that replaced him. Bonnie was a far more popular mascot than Afton's original Golden Bonnie ever was and he couldn't stand it, even as a glitch who was infesting the new animatronics.
I still hold onto my headcanon that Vanessa is the one who decommissioned Bonnie, and she pinned it on Monty so no one would investigate her and find out that she doesn't actually work at the Pizzaplex, let alone find Bonnie's chassis in a charging station inside the underground pizzeria. She needed that chassis to bring her boss back. And she needed Monty to take the fall so she could work on her passion project in peace.

I like the origin for William a brilliant man with a genuine desire to entertain children that was slowly twisted into a murderous rampage by years of loss, jealousy and rage.
It really gives the FNAF story that human element that Scott supposedly wanted to inject into the franchise when he did the not-a-reboot that is Sister Location.

Literally any timeline will sound like a fanfic if you try to make a completely disjointed, sloppy, cryptic story like this fit together.

Not just MatPat, the FNaF community in general. I think Scott had the story layed out for 1-3, but fan demand caused him to continue a finished story, and he made up hooks and got the community to attach said hooks.

I just wanted to add that Chica's line in UCN "I was the first, I saw everything" (while it might just mean that she was the first kid of the main 4 to be killed by Afton) it might actually also mean something else and confirm the "Chica's Party World" theory. Since it was the first establishment with actual animatronics and Chica was the main one as the name of the restaurant suggests she was propably made by Henry first. She literally was the first animatronic that was ever made ;)

This is giving me the most insane existential crisis but In the most amazing way. I was 10 when I watched your first fnaf video. I am now a month of 19. Fnaf lore, fnaf songs fnaf everything was such a crazy big part of my childhood that is the reasons I’m so obsessed with horror movies stories and games right now, and it would be nothing without your old videos. I remember me and my friends coming up with our own little theories with no research and incredibly circumstantial evidence but it didn’t matter. We loved doing things like that and having the insane realisations of more info from your work was mind blowing. This will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you for being such an influential figure of my childhood
