An email from Ludwig could be secretly sent by someone else, who is still pretending that their boss is alive, hiding the fact that he's been turned into a toy.
That could explain why the date talking about Huggy escaping was wrong. Maybe they forgot to change it when they were fabricating a previous email.

i have one theory which is pretty much backed up in chapter 3:
The Prototype is making these toys to weaken us and strengthen him, mommy long legs and catnap were both taken away by him and you can hear mommy scream "AAAAAAAH DONT LET HIM MAKE ME A PART OF HIM" so i feel like we're gonna meet more toys in future episodes that will become part of The Prototype and one chapter is gonna be the final boss basically!
Yeah it’s strange that catnap worshipped the prototype and yet the prototype killed him. I think that supports your idea that the prototype no longer found catnap useful except for as a means to strengthen his own “body”

Coming back to this now, with the third chapter released, it's revealed that it wasn't Elliot, but experiment 1006 that locked Poppy away
....Unless they're the same person. In which case, he might have locked her away while he was still a human.

I love how chapter 3 has still not released yet and MatPat has still kept us entertained by managing to fully go through what’s to come for the chapter making us more hyped.

My theory after watching play throughs of chapter 3 is : we were once a councillor for play care but we got fired or quit because we didn’t want to watch or take part in the experiments and when poppy told us to come back we did in order to save the children but we never knew about the ‘hour of joy’ and the horrific things that happened and that is way the prototype, catnap, Ollie , poppy etc always gives us a chance to leave and live because we were not apart of the experiments
If we weren't a part of the experiments, Why would we have such extreme "guilt"?
the protagonist wasn’t fired/didn’t quit though, during the first section in the house where you first encounter the red gas one of the radio recordings is backwards and when flipped says we were meant to be there that day for a meeting but was either sick or something similar and didn’t show on the day the hour of joy went down
Not just that but he wasn’t a counselor 😂 he was helping with experiments we know this by the flashbacks!

Honestly, the idea that Ludwig was turned into the prototype to save his life, only for him to revert back to his previous, less selfish mindset… that would be such an interesting twist, certainly feels unique. We don’t often get to see the main villain actually repent, let alone try to destroy his own system, at least not without duress. I hope that ends up being the case, cause that would be such an interesting method of having two sides that aren’t exactly morally righteous.
I feel like the "Elliot = Prototype" theory is held back by a singular drawing we can find in Elliot's office at the start of chapter 2 that depicts the Game Station with Mommy Long Legs's wiggly arm. We know Mommy was created before her toy, and since she's experiment 1222, that means Elliot was still around and working in his office long after 1006.

One thing i really like about Poppy Playtime is that unlike fnaf, poppy playtime does leave questions and leaves stuff open, but most things have been answered and that makes the lore satisfying to learn about. Theyre doing story telling great!

And as far as I know, the Bite of '87 is STILL officially unknown aside from fan theories, and the first game is 10 years old. At least Poppy Playtime doesn't seem to be doing that.

Fnaf has gotten by with unexplained pieces. They made this game pretty simple and created a story out of it as it was getting bigger. I think it was obvious from the first game what the game was about. The other info was just to keep it alive. No answers were found chase there aren’t any. The game is what you make of it

Watching Matpat is what helped me build up the courage to watch the playthroughs without getting nightmares or seeing things in the dark (again)

Poppy seems to sound a bit more adult when she talks... makes me wonder if she wasn't a child when she was created but a adult woman that maybe got into a fight with her dad, died, and her dad wanting to 'save his baby girl' ended up putting her into the doll...
I saw another theory by Tericho I think that theorized a lot based off some connections poppy has to chucky. Basically, he said that she would have been an employee who was secretly a serial killer who was working to turn the experiments less wholesome, and went into a doll to work more efficiently.
I think "serial killer" is a bit extreme but a think she was selfish/narcissisic with her own agenda, being immortality. I found some more evidence for this in this video, with poppy claiming all the terrible things were because of her. Tericho thought that this was Greybear (a think that's the wrong spelling). I think it could be her, due to her obsession with immortality. I'm more enthralled with the idea that she may have been his adult daughter who learned of the experiments and got her own ideas, working with the doctor, or maybe even inspiring him, whispering in his ear.
I am a little skeptical, since poppys creation seems earlier in the timeline than Greybear, and that we have seen that adults have less success than children, and poppy seems perfectly fine, even a little childlike. However, poppy seems too mature and twisted/evil to be so young, which leads me to believe she may be a energetic/childish YA, to which Greybear fits the description.
I am open to the idea of it being another character, so other theories are welcome. I am also curious to see which toys are a part of each "faction" and why, seeing as how most toys would WANT to overthrow the factory (1006s goal I think, not sure what poppys is) but MLL, who suffered lots of trauma at their hands was afraid of the prototype.

@@devilsavocate5476 Many years past between her becoming a doll and the start of the games so it's entirely possible that she's mentally mature or at least more mature than when she started. Getting turned into a doll could have had some effect on her mind as well.
To be fair Mommy sounds like an adult as well and she was created from Marie Payne who was an orphan child. Maybe the voices change when the human parts get put into the toy?
@@egg7540 They've shown doll voice boxes before (the kind you'd find in an actual toy) but covered in blood suggesting the voices of the toys are in fact artificial.

Matpat is carrying this game, making sure we don't forget about it and keeping it relevant-
Already, the first two chapters were incredibly well made. However, chapter 3 is simply INSANE. It looks SO realistic. It looks as though when I'm watching the trailers, I'm not watching a video, but I'm watching an actual scene in real life. Props to the devs for putting so much effort in.
The quality is simply on a whole other level now. Ch3 will also make poppy the first mascot horror to use unreal Engine 5. I knew the devs were extremely talented and passionate ever since the release of chapter 1.
Now that chapter 3 is out, I’m really hoping he’s able to get to a theory before he leaves 😢❤

I also have a theory, in the chapter 3 trailer, Catnap carved something on the wall about a "My Somnficient Flock" at the end. In Smiling Critters, all the critters fall asleep. Could Catnaps flock be the smiling critters. When they beg Catnap to put them to sleep "almost like their addicted to I" it felt like they worship him, so could that be it.
it does feel like that chapter 3 will heavily dive into horror, at least judging by the teasers.

Heres a mini theory. What if the email from Elliot was actually the doctor using his account? After all, it would be suspicious for Elliot to just stop using his own account. (But hey, that's just a theory, a mini theory)

Y'all, in PP3 Poppy tells Player that 1006 locked her in the case, but according to the files and records, Elliot put her in the case. Is Eliilot and 1006 the same thing?

We saw today that the prototype apparently carried a child to safety, though he had the means to make an escape. He even tried to help the child leave the playcare. I doubt Ludwig wanted to go through with all this, and that you were correct in your initial thoughts that Harley got to him
Gosh, I love these theories so much. They're always amazing. Though, with every great theory comes questions as well. Here's a part I'm a bit confused about... If the Prototype is working with the toys to end this whole operation, and the toys are willingly going along with his plan, then why would Mommy be so terrified of "becoming part of him" when we killed her in the game? She supposedly helped him before with that attack on the factory and she clearly has a similar fondness for the kids safety as the others, yet it seems like she didn't want anything more to do with him, so what could possibly be going on now that they (or maybe just her) don't want to help him anymore?
We don't know for sure who "him" is. In the second chapter 3 teaser trailer, there's a giant amalgamation of dead toy parts. I think that's what Mommy was talking about, but it's way too big to be 1006. They're some theories that 1006 is building a new body for himself or that the amalgamation is like a sacrificial alter for a cult.
I think it goes into the idea of there being a cult-like following of 1006 by many of the toys, so while many of the toys do want to help him many others don't
Or maybe the prototype descended into madness the years after the hour of joy
I mean idk, you would probably help your friend overthrow a corrupt system with a large group of other friends who were all also stuck under that same system, but honestly I doubt you'd be cool with being stitched onto them after you die.

What if the doctor silenced Elliot and made him the prototype, but they had someone step in to take on the title “Elliot Ludwig”.
That not a bad theory. Having someone pretent being Elliot could explain why "he" would make the underground orphanage. Notice how at the beginning there a face announce Poppy doll but for the rest of the game, the face of Elliot Lugwit is censor...

I was once in store and beside me there was a little kid and their parent. The kid was asking for a Huggy Wuggy plushy and the parent agreed. I was quick to turn to the parent and warn them not to let the child see what it was from, explaining that it was from a pretty gruesome horror game/franchise. The parent thanked me for the warning and explained that they would probably prefer to buy something else as the child was apparently very curious and would have asked nonstop to know what their toy was from.
This was about a year and a half ago and I’m not saying there was anything wrong with the toy, but I just wanted to warn them in case they planed to google it with the child present. 😮💨👍
