Theorists, today I'm taking you all the way back… before FNAF Security Breach, before Sister Location, before any of the games that we currently know and LOVE. We’re going back to the inception of Fazbear Entertainment. I’ve recently made a discovery that changes everything… not necessarily a great discovery, I’d maybe go as far as to call it… Mediocre.

The fact that the timeline is now relying on small design elements like the functionality of the jaw makes me think we’ve come full circle back to the days of counting Foxy’s toes.
The days of what
@@aaronking2020 back in the day of early fnaf there were theories around foxy's toes and golden freddie's ankles showing an endo skeleton therefore not being a wearable suit etc
@@aaronking2020 Early lore days of figuring out who was where and what happened when ala "are the withered animatronics really the same ones as the original crew?" or "is the Freddy in this minigame the main one we face?" often came down to counting fingers and toes on the bots.

That... actually makes a lot of sense and explains a part of Midnight Motorist. "He's off to that place again," would fit the context of Crying Child running off to a rival restaurant, only driving his father further into jealousy and revenge obsession.
meaning Midnight Motorist is in the beginning
If Orange guy is Afton. We could assume him not being purple means he hasn't become full evil and killed yet. Making Midnight the earliest point in the timeline we have seen in the games. Only thing that's weird with that scene, is the animatronic footprint outside where the kid supposedly ran off.

This makes so much sense. Charlie’s death was a rage filled accident with unforeseen consequences. Once Afton realized that Charlie was in the puppet is when things changed. This was his ticket to finally bring “life” into his creations
BOOM! Remnant was the one thing that could replace Henry’s magic.
The motive for the continued killing! Yeah hope Matpat does see this^^

Btw didn't chica come from chica's party world and not from the mediocre melodies?
It's interesting that Matpat's very first fnaf theory was about comparing it to events that happened at a Chuck E Cheese. Now he's come full circle and is comparing the lore to the events that created Chuck E Cheese.

Just throwing this out there... could William have originally started killing to setup Henry? So he could take sole ownership of company? Maybe in FNAF 1 newspaper the guy that was arrested was Henry and not William? Hence why he was released?
That would also explain why he was gone for so long and suddenly appered in fnaf 6
Oh yeah, maybe that's why Henry disappeared from the story for so long, he got successfully framed and arrested.
Just the way up there William have originally started killing to set up Henry? So he could take stool leadership of the company may be in front of one the newspaper guy that was arrested was Henry and not William ? Hence why he was released?

Wow, that was so long ago, it's crazy to think how far we've come
And he used it as a comparison in his FNAF 4 science video about how animatronics work
I honestly really love the connections Matt's making with William and Henry's backstory. The question of "Why did William Afton start killing" has ALWAYS bothered me and up until this point the best answer anyone could ever seem to find was that the crying child, his son, had died. And it didn't sit right with me that I had to feel such sympathy for someone who would proceed to kill SO many kids. Knowing it could have started with being jealous of Henry just sits with me better.
@hope. 🤓
Has it not been known for ages now that William killed to harvest remnant and become immortal? I thought that was his entire gist.

It honestly makes the most sense. The mediocre melodies would absolutely be used by Cassidy to torment Afton by hitting him where it hurts, hitting him where it all started. I like this theory.
I really like it too it’s such a nice way for them to be looped into the story!!
also all the mediocre melodies have a second voice overlayed with ther normal voice, similar to a child's voice
No it’s doesn’t stop thinking his theories always make sense
Yeah, since they were the crappy animatronics of his rival, it reminds William of how he helped Henry succeed.
@@micu8942 That has been covered already by Matpat tho
Cassidy is speaking through them to torment Afton
W. Chica’s UCN line is iconic. “I was the first, I saw everything.” Many of us assumed that meant she was the first animatronic possessed-and maybe it still does. But what if that means she was the first animatronic built under Afton and Henry’s partnership? She saw their relationship, she saw Afton’s work, she saw it all. When the child comes to possess her, the memories of the robot are passed to the ghost. The ghost saw Afton’s descent and what led him to kill kids.
The static-like robotic quality of Withered Chica's voice line (as opposed to the ghostly whispers behind the characters' voices that indicate Cassidy's speaking through them, or the way Marionette's voice is clearly Charlie's spirit-- reverb effects and all) would support this! It's so unique out of all the lore-heavy lines in that it's purposefully distorted and robotic and without any hint of a child's voice... it makes me think that line was meant to be interpreted differently, like it's less like "dialogue" and more of a hint towards a concept like NightMarione's
How would Chica's possessor know that Chica was the first animatronic built though?
Accualy a valid theory considering the memories merging thing has been in fnaf becuse Elizabeth remembers her death from the pov of baby
@@Gloom_Shroom_Gaming well Elizabeth somehow remembered her death from the pov of baby (fnaf sl easter egg when you go to her room after the bidibabs or whatever thay are called try to kill you)

I’m so glad that Chica being a Mediocre Melodie is finally being addressed. I think the fact that in Sister Location they call out that Funtime Chica is somewhere else or came from somewhere else (I can’t remember which one it is) it’s referencing that Chica came from the Mediocre Melodies to the official FNAF 1 Group.
if Matt is looking for the inspiration of five nights at Freddy’s then why don’t they see the inspiration for Chuck E. Cheese which would be there Walt Disney animaTronic at Disneyland
Do you mean Chica's Party World?
Aiwi Anxiety
Yes! You're speaking about Chica's Party World, which was a separate location likely created after Henry's disappearance. I wanna say that Afton had full control over all the animatronics. While he may have hated Henry's creations(because he hated Henry and GF for takin Crying Child lol), he could have used Chica's popularity to create a side location called "Chica's Party World" so he could gain more money and have another murder den. It is perfectly plausible that Chica originated within the Melodies and then Afton later uses her design to create his own version of her, like we see he does with the design shown in Ultimate Custom Night. In this theory, Afton hated and loved his rival, so it makes sense that he pays homage to his idol by recreating and using his creation and giving it her own location.
@@aiwianxiety426 your thinking about Henry in the books. Henry didn’t die in the games until FNAF 6 which is WAYY after Willam died and places like Chica’s party world had closed

This feels like such an interesting detail that has remained consistent throughout the series despite us neglecting to realise it. I think William's anger towards Henry could be fuelled by what happened to the crying child - he may think it was Henry's fault because it was his animatronic that killed his son.
YES YES YES I HAVE THIS THEORY
I agree with this statement
jealousy and pride + a tragedy; sadly almost always = guaranteed murderous villain

This is probably the most satisfying theory yet. Giving William Afton a motive is the single greatest thing ever accomplished on this channel. Purple Guys identity was revealed through the books, the community more or less solves Fnaf3 singlehandedly, FuhNaff was the one to finally make sense of Security Breach, but this is a Game Theory accomplishment! I love it!
agreed
As a writer, I’ve been in pain there was no sure motive.
I have a theory about Henry's "X-factor". Maybe his animatronics were so life-like and seemingly magical because he (unintentionally) imbued each one with a small piece of his own soul. Literally putting his heart and soul into his work. Afton was unable to recreate Henry's work because he lacked the passion and soul that Henry had for his craft. In his frustration and jealousy, Afton kills Henry's daughter. But afterwards he recognizes that somehow Charlie's soul has possessed the Puppet. Then everything clicks, he realizes that what was missing was soul (remnant) and begins killing children in an attempt to harvest souls for his animatronics, all in a desperate attempt to match Henry's magic touch.
It IS backed up by the books, he literally CREATES a soul with his own pure agony, using that Ella doll he poured it all into to create Charlie in the first place... So it's not too unlikely he was simply doing so to a lesser degree with his other creations
I think it's also big to note that Charlies death is so different from his other murders. He doesn't lure her, he isn't in costume, he's not putting on a show in the way that we know that William Afton typically acts. He just leaves the body, doesn't stuff it into anything either, and he does it right out of his car. Every other victim we know was lured by him in costume.
That would make sense. Think about it, Henry worked in a garage where his sweat poured into the fur, his blood from working with machinery slipped into the joints, and his passion went into their designs.
Afton? He saw them as a means to an end. And they were. He used precise machinery and complex parts and computers to build weapons, not pieces and bringers of joy. They were soulless.
You may be on to something…
They definitely need to consider this, I aint much into the lore but from what I read, It makes more sense then Henry stuffing others souls. (I hope I got it right and did not sound like an idiot.)
“It will be coming in the next week or two” 😭
1-2 weeks btw
I feel *SO VALIDATED* knowing the ultimate FNAF Theorist was also questioning Afton's motive. During all the chatter of robot kids and who really may be dead, once small part of my brain was always like "We don't even know why William kills Charlie! Who cares about Gregory!"
It does seem...unlikely to me that that is his entire motive though. We seem him gleefully smile when Foxy runs to the room of kids he just murdered. The ball pit story has William excited to show everyone the kids he killed. He enjoys killing. I think it goes deeper than just jealousy. Why would he build the Funtimes or Baby if all he wanted was to live out a revenge against Henry? I think somewhere along he discovers the power of agony, maybe even seeing Henry's outpour of agony like in the books when Charliebot is created, and aims to create a place filled with agony. But that still doesn't feel like we've reached the end of the story. What was his overall goal in continously killing kids in the franchise buildings? Why does he want his cult? There is exactly one key piece missing, and it's driving me nuts.
William was angry at Henry bots being more lifelike what more lifelike than literally stuffing kid souls inside your bots huh
@@gameuniverse5973 But he didn't always do that. He does with the first wave of dead kids, but the others he leaves slumped in the room and the puppet gives them life, not Afton.

I think it’s more imply that William killed Henry’s daughter for revenge instead. The jaw on Fredbear implies, as you said, that the Fredbear design was probably Henry’s. This could mean that The Crying Child died before William murders Henry’s Daughter. He blamed Henry’s designs for his sons death, (couples with jealousy over Henry’s gift of robot creation) and in a spiteful rage killed his daughter for his ultimate revenge, unknowing it was going to send him down a dark spiral…

I think Chica having a more important/interesting role here with her being a carry over from Henry’s place is crucial. I know it’s always been weird with how “I was the first, I’ve seen everything” but it always seemed a weird choice having that be chica and not a more central animatronic. This gives her more meaning in the story as Afton would’ve seen chica in particular as a direct connection to Henry
And it makes sense for her to be first since Afton hated Henry so much he disgraced HENRY'S animatronic first by putting the first kid in Chica
True dat

@@homerman76 you can visibly see this from different games such as the lore changing after 4 and UCN
1 month later: ...................................................
Next Week you say…
So with this theory in mind, now Im thinking back to Chica’s UCN line about being “the first”. I’m wondering if, instead of being the first victim or whatever like we assumed she meant, she was actually just the first character or animatronics designed for the original Henry-built restraunt, long before Afton was even involved.
I’ve thought of it being the first to have their soul given to an animatronic by the puppet, but this also makes sense.
Then this could relate to the mysterious Chicas party world!
I was thinking the same thing !! What if the all the mediocre melodies including chica saw everything and couldnt say anything till cassidy gave them a voice while chica got stuffed and used her ghost voice to say what she remembered. Kinda like the animatronics saw and retained what happened but couldn’t say it cuz the lacked the voice. Or something like that🤷🏾♀️
I think chica came first and then when moving to the next location got very broken in the proses and after that got burned and then changed into the ignited animatronics
I'm thinking she was the second one, but the first after Henry's daughter. William would have taken his victims in an descendant order of how much they made him remember of Henry's work. That's why Charlie was the first, because she was Henry's daughter, while Susy was the second, because she reminded him of Chica. This also explains why William didn't want to preserve Funtime Chica with the rest of the Funtimes
An overwhelming sense of deja vu came over me when matt told us Chica isn't from the original Freddie line up. Memories came flooding back to me as I remember an entire theory based on the mention of Chica's Party World from sister location, ah those where simpler times.
I just shows how old this franchise is when even matthew patthew starts forgetting his previous theories .
Chica's party world! Thank you! I knew I'd heard the theory that chica wasn't originally a fazbear before, but I couldn't for the life of me place where. And google was being NO help lol
William's original company was probably Chica's party world and then Henry's was Fredbear's diner. Edit: I forgot the idea was that the melodies were a Henry thing, swap the two around. Killing Charlotte was probably a hot blooded crime like the theory suggests, and then seeing the puppet come to life afterwards became his golden ticket to one-upping Henry. William's would be better because they were literally alive. Hence why the funtimes are made with remnant and have the goal of collecting more.
This also leads into my thoughts about the new owner of Fazbear Entertainment, and why they built the pizza plex. And in particular why there are so many gosh dang endos there. Whoever is running the company found out about the remnant bringing animatronics to life and how realistic they become. Their goal is to make the best Entertainment on the face of the Earth. Mass producing entertainers who aren't just representations of iconic characters, but ARE the iconic characters. Imagine going to Disneyland and meeting the real Mickey Mouse, or finding actual Luke Skywalker. That is what new Fazbear Entertainment wants. No matter how many children have to die to make it happen.

I don’t think every villain needs a reason to be evil ( sometimes it’s just fun watching someone be evil for the sake of evil, especially when they get beaten by the hero in the end) but you’re right in how it explains Afton’s motives for the series. Also makes Henry calling him ‘old friend’ at the end of Pizzeria Simulator actually kinda sad. Henry thought of them as actual friends but in the end they just ended up hurting each other. William more than Henry since most of the things that happened to him are his own fault.
True.
Take Michael Myers, he is maybe the most iconic horror icon and dosnt have a motive. Every movie and continuity that tried giving him a motive was largely disliked.

Even if it was caused by the actions of Afton's son, it is still possible to hold a grudge on someone who designed the thing that killed his son. Unless I'm missing something, this seems like an important additive to the motive category.
Had the exact same idea and was checking to make sure no one else said it 😂
Especially considering MatPat did a theory a while back on how Fredbear would have had to have been designed to kill in order to be able to have crushed the Crying Child's head. The hydraulic pumps in its jaw would not have been strong enough otherwise. So it's definitely suspicious
So basically...
William is mad of Henrys creation (golden Freddy) that killed his son (crying child) and makes an animatronic similar to golden Freddy (the sister location animatronic)
It's my dum theory if it's not correct my ears are open :)
Well that would depend on who you think died first, Charlie or Afton's kid, still could work as a motive for why he'd keep killing at Freddy's though. Personally, I like the idea of the crying child being the first important death in the series since I like the irony of his fear of the animatronics being mainly unfounded, and then all his fears come to life because he died.
The sister location animatronics were around before the crying child died because Elizabeth died to circus baby and we know she died before the crying child due to her room being empty and her being gone in the FNAF 4 minigames
Mat....
C'mon Mat....
Where is it?
You said you weren't putting it off anymore, where is it?
Next week, huh?
I wonder, when FNAF is all said and done, if Scott will actually come forward and explain the entire lore to us so we can see how many theories were correct and which were just overthinking and straight up ridiculous 😂
I hope lol
Pretty sure he doesn't know himself
Whatever Matt says, is lore.
It will never be said and done
We had FNaf 3, FNaF 4 and Pizzaria Sim for that
He wont, his confusing lore prints too much money
Honestly, the mention of Chuck E. Cheese makes this entire theory series come full circle. After all, wasn't one of the very first theories connecting the first game with real-life murders in a Chuck E. Cheese location?
Yep! When I was still just a mere child. I was like what 12?
I love this timeline so far. Please finish it!
I’m still waiting for him to do a full timeline of Nicocado avocados villain ark
next week. suuuure
I think you nailed this connection that we’ve all somehow missed. The nail in the coffin for me was the fact that the Mediocre gang had masks present in the FNAF3 cutscene (an early Freddy location). I say include this part in your timeline!

For me what really rings true about this being THE theory is the inclusion of all the blueprints. Over the years it’s like, why are these included in such detail? Just so they say Afton Robotics or whatever? This makes so much sense that they have deeper lore
@@MelissaNiederkorn Yeah totally!
Worth noting that in The Twisted Ones, Charlie points out that she can tell whether something has been designed by her dad or William purely through the specifics of the design. Seems to line up with this perfectly
It might also explain why there was a wolf animatronic instead of Chica. The twisted creatures were William’s creations and he stayed with his theme of forest animals. Excluding Chica being part of Henry’s barnyard themed animals.
Afton's motive (for ANYTHING he did or made, not just the murders) has always been the biggest, muddiest piece of the puzzle for me that prevented FNAF lore theories from feeling like a believable story. This theory piece finally ties everything together really neatly, I feel.
Moral of the story: Don't go into a chuck e cheese like restaurant and kill five children in a bunny suit and gradually stuffing them into suits.
Actually, this theory makes sense of why Chica was the “first” child to be killed and stuffed; Afton probably hated Chica for being apart of Henry’s creations, and decided to get back at him in a way by putting a dead child in Chica first
Yoooo
This would actually explain why Funtime Chica was left behind when Circus Baby's Pizza World closed down
@@gamesuarx Oh my Lord, I had never thought about that! This is pure genius storytelling
@@gamesuarx someone tell this to matpat
Except The Puppet is the one who put the kids in the suits
The fact that Chica never appears at sister location, you know williams lair, gives credit to the idea she was originally a henry creation.
Don't know if I remember it correctly, but wasn't it in sister location, they had a schedule, and it was said chicka was on loan for a party or something like that? I'll have to check it out again
game theory: “Final timeline!!”
fnaf: “THAT’S THE SIGNAL, RELEASE ANOTHER GAME. MAKE SURE WILLIAM COMES BACK, MAKE A BANANA THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THE FNAF LORE.”
Consider this, the battery packs was Henry, but afton wanted them to be smaller . so he made them like a disk, something smaller to fit into the animatronic itself. While he was at it he put in a device that would lure children from there family's . I believe that holodisks were around much longer than we realize. Anyway, Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.
to be honest, this makes _some_ sense, especially with the whole "chica was actually a Mediocre Melody" situation, it gives us a reason to why she was so special to begin with, you know, with the whole "I was the first!" thingy majig, perhaps she's talking about how she was the first animatronic created out of the Fazbear Gang. (IF Henry was the one who started the whole "Children's Entertainment" industry.)
Woah you actually now made things of everything we thought cause I was the first voice line was chica telling us that chica telling us that she was the first child killed of the missing children well that's make a whole new thing it may be true that she tell us to she is was one of the first animatronics and if that was true is the animatronics are actually possessed do the animatronics have their own personality and feeling without being possessed!?
I think this strongly implies that Henry, not William, created the original Fredbear that’s kills the crying child. Not only was William jealous now, but his child had now died because, as he sees it, of Henry’s crappy animatronic design that killed his son.
William, meanwhile, created Spring Bonnie that didn’t kill his son. Spring Bonnie was so safe that he trusted it to not kill him while inside many many times, and this safety would also explain William’s cockiness and confidence in the FNAF 3 cutscene where he turns into Springtrap. He was laughing at the kids’ souls because he felt extremely confident in his old reliable, safe suit, that he designed, and was shocked when it failed him and turned him into Springtrap.
And the mediocre melodies coming back in FNAF 6 makes sense, as when Henry was rebuilding a new restraunt that was just a means to an end, he was using HIS old retired animatronics that he had in storage.
"thingy majig" my new favorite phrase
@@tanoomic well that's make sense but aren't the Springlock designed by Henry that's mean that springbonnie is designed by Henry
@@nicoangelo9928 yeah, I favor that phrase too, actually! Lol

16:40 Matpat: that episode will be coming in the next week our two. I SWEAR-
Me: ok... where is it?
If Andrew is wearing an alligator mask, does that mean Monty is like a revamped Mediocre Melodies character?
Thats actually kinda true
For real life that is so cool character?
I think that’s probably alluded to by this video’s thumbnail.
Yes. This is literally just canon. Shown through Mr. Hippo joining the main band when Freddy leaves in the car security breach ending
that kinda makes sense with his backstory from Ruin
Something I think you may have forgot to mention was the name of "Chica's Party World" hidden in the files when Sister Location was being teased which I don't think we ever got a explanation for, I believe which may be the name of the location she was in with The Mediocre Melodies before she was transferred into the main bunch.
Yeah that's what I was thinking, how does that play into this.
@@derrickdaniels3955 chica party world might have been Henry version of pirate cove then when they fused they gave that role to foxy and put chica in the main cast

@@nameless...................... yeah she was clearly made by afton but also wasn't in sister location, so i'm sure there's something more to it.
Matt plz wheres the timeline 😭
I think this strongly implies that Henry, not William, created the original Fredbear that kills the crying child (notice the wire mouth design of Fredbear, like in the video).
Fellow ooftroop fan?
Cuz Henry owners Afton $5 bucks
Nah, I though it was about tree fiddy?
5 kids = 5 bucks
I personally think that the crying child's death that just happened to be a very unfortunate accident would have been a perfect catalyst for William's murder. The death of his first son, the sorrow and anger that followed would have strenghtened the grudge against Henry, driving him to cause the same pain to him that he himself experienced.

czcams.com/video/2EXjRrTzTgQ/video.html !
I agree! That is more than enough motive in my opinion, it doesn't have to be complicated
Even worse the second death after Evan was Elizabeth. Baby was designed to scoop a child so William so experiment with remnant. Despite his warnings to his daughter to never go see baby she disobeyed and paid the ultimate price. Now having his youngest son killed by his eldest and his daughter killed by his own actions - he snaps causing the Missing kids incident.
In the novels his son even didn't die or exist. He just killed cause he liked it.
Nah i think he saw remnant as a way to replicate Henry being able to bring life into his bots which no matter what William did he could not
hey Matpat, when are you going to release the next video?
