- The updated and refreshed Titan is here and there are some BIG changes that have taken place. Under the hood is a 5.6L V8 that pumps out 400HP and is mated to an all new 9-speed automatic transmission. On the outside the Titan XD has all the required things needed to pull just about any and the Pro-4X add some off road special suspension bits. On the inside you will be greeted to an all new 9-inch infotainment system, and a well laid out interior. Is the 2020 Nissan Titan Pr--4X a GOOD truck for towing?

Most underrated truck on the market. The XD is amazing for what you get for the money. The pro4x is the best trim IMO. like that f150/f250 size hybrid is a nice truck size!
Agreed. People love to hate on these for some reason. Had one for years and they are fantastic trucks. No cylinder deactivation or auto start/stop crap just pure V8.

I had a tundra and now have an XD and it tows better with a higher payload and still get the 6.5’ bed and crew cab. No complaints here.

Over 200K on my 2006 Titan, then got a slightly used 2018 Titan XD 5.6L 4x4. Towing my 28' travel trailer on both vehicles is night and day different. The XD's longer wheelbase, super stiff frame (from their commercial van I believe), 3/4 ton brakes, and 2,500 lb payload capacity make my 7,500 lb trailer effortless to tow, super stable at speed and especially downhill. If you're looking for a medium towing rig that also does well as your everyday ride, go find one a couple years old - You'll save ~40% over buying new. I did at 1.5 years old and 8K miles.

I almost bought a 2018 Titan XD Platinum Reserve, but now I am setting my mind UP on a 2020 Titan XD PRO 4X.. when I buy my 2020 Titan it will be my fifth Titan in last 10 years. I use them for my construction business, very strong trucks.
Why do you get ride of them? They stopped working? How many miles you put on them? Curious
@@shadowk4718 I don’t get rid of them I run a construction business they are working 04 with 310000km 05 with 306000km 08 with 235000 another 08 with 265000km I had a 2012 which I sold with 175000km I never ended up buying an XD instead I bought a 2019 Titan PRO 4X with 6 inch lift and 35 inch tires, you can see it in my profile picture.

Are you sure you got the towing numbers right for the XD? You mentioned 9.x thousand lbs towing capacity. Isnt it close to 11k lbs for the XD?

If I didn’t get my ranger, I would definitely look at this truck once the prices drop.
Good to see the transmission isn't hunting for gears. Someone needs to tell GM that with both their 8 speed and 10 speed units. Those transmissions are programmed to hit the highest ratio too quickly which causes a shudder and if you press the gas a bit harder then it either drops down too many gears or not enough. Always hunting and always hard shifting. If this 9 speed is not guilty of that then I'm SOLD.

7:03 the towing and payload # you were calling out is for Titan not XD. My XD towing is 11000ish and payload rates 2520lbs
yes u r right he is testing XD but numbers r 4 regular Titan. XD tows 11000lb payload 2520lb
Was looking for this comment. The GVWR is over a half ton, so how could a 5500 pound truck with a 1600 pound payload be over that. Need that extra thousand pounds

Gas economy has gotten better one of those life long truck beat it to the ground. I still see first gen Titans on construction or Landscaping job sites.

I love this truck and will probably buy it used but unfortunatly there is no space for fruit roll ups which is holding me back a bit.
Didn't the XD come with a Cummins diesel and Allison transmission ? why did they get rid of it?
I don’t think they sold enough of them, and couldn’t keep their commitments to Cummins. So, it has now been discontinued.
It didn't have an Allison transmission it had an Aisin and the cummins engine was a pos. The nissan 5.6 gas is way better.
Maybe I am missing something but I do not see any benefit of getting the Titan XD over the standard Titan. Originally the XD brought you a diesel which got you better gas mileage and towing. Joe can you weigh in on this?
Towing stability and braking. If you don’t tow them no need, if you tow a big trailer and and have more drag, you want something more stable for when it’s windy

They are on sale. But mass production took a hit due to Covid unfortunately.

The hp/torque came from premium fuel. On regular it runs at the same power/torque as it did last gen

That’s the diesel model. The gas is just over 11k depending on trim and all.

Horsepower is at 400 only with premium gas , reg 87 will get you the 390hp , the same as last years titan
Also the torque is only 413 with the premium gas , with the reg 87 it’s back at 394
Looks like Nissan is committed to overcome the Ram 1500 Limited.

That best-in-class HP claim should have been "when compared to competitors' base V8" 400/413 is still good. It's more than Toyota gives you, but not best-in-class overall.

I believe it's all about brand loyalty which doesn't allow people to see other trucks and also Nissan is terrible at advertising these wonderful trucks.
You said the wrong towing numbers. You stated the regular titan towing of 9k. The XD is 11k.

I'm a big Titan fan, but I can't deal with the 6700lb of this truck. Same weight as a F250, with half the ability. I get it, but I just can't wrap my head around this.
I wish Nissan made a 6.5' foot bed for the regular Titan.

Once again Joe, the XD and regular titan are two completely different vehicles. The XD only comes in a crew cab 6.5 bed and is not rated by the EPA for fuel economy as it is a 3/4th ton truck. This would be like reviewing an f250 and giving the f150 specs. Every time you make a titan video you do this and I'm suprised nissan hasn't said anything either.
Anyways the issue with the titan xd is the engine. The V8 under that hood is designed for the patrol (QX 80 in the states). It was never designed for this workload. The XD needs a bigger engine. The cummins was alright but it was equally underpowered for the segment. It doesn't need the 1000ft-lb 6.7 Cummins, but that 850ft-lb in the ram 2500 would have been a fit.
The 5.6 does fine in the XD. It’s geared correctly and more power then just about every HD V8 offering than the 7.3L Godzilla.
Hi Joe. This is such a “Me too” product. What separates this truck from any other truck? Nothing that I can see. I’m not a fan of Nissan at all. They just don’t do it for me. Its not a good looking truck. The competition is just to tough in this market. Ford, Dodge, Chevy, Toyota all make trucks that are much more appealing IMO.
I don't tow much, but this would look great crawling at my local mall! Nissan is doing good things.
