      Rich Farfugnuven . Think the most I would tow with a trailer would be 9,500 pounds and that is assuming a 1,000 pound tongue weight. Pretty sure the XD axle could handle the weight.

    I think the new Titan is a damn good looking truck. The payload and towing capacities don't bother me; as others have said, anything more than 10k on a 1500 truck is pushing it. I think TFL had the same gripe for the Power Wagon, but the truth is, both are trying to carve out a space in the off road market with that trim level. I purchased a 2018 Nissan Frontier Pro-4x about a year ago and I am very satisfied with the truck. Nissan may have screwed up with their CVT in their car, but their trucks have always been a good buy. If this new Titan is any indicator, I'm looking forward to the refreshed Frontier next year.

    • @Dave-ek2jx
      @Dave-ek2jx Před 4 lety +2

      @@nateyoung6331 No, it is not a CVT. CVT = Continuously Variable Transmission. They don't actually have gears. Picture the transmission in a snowmobile.
      In short, if it is a 6 speed, 9 speed, etc., it isn't CVT. Which is good, because CVTs are generally only good in commute vehicles.

I was so comfortable in my Altima and this felt interior wise like I was back in it. To me not being spoiled i think this interior is amazing and worth the money. I don't care about it not having high towing capacity or payload, don't care that it has a 9 inch screen compared to the ram 1500 12 inch. Regarding the towing numbers, the big 3 all claim amazing towing numbers, but very few of the ones that roll off the line can tow anywhere near that. Fact is that it takes (often) several packages to get that kind of number. Titan's towing number is pretty consistent in all models (higher in XD) so you actually know what you are capable of towing.

      Honestly, I think the 12k, 13k plus tow ratings for the 1/2 ton trucks are a joke. Most of the higher end versions of those don't have a high enough payload rating to tow anywhere near that with any reasonable amount of tongue weight. It seems like most are in the 1,300 lb range for payload (if you look at the door sticker vs. reading the mfg. website or articles), which means with 10% tongue weigh on a 13k trailer, you can hook it up - but can't put a driver in the cab!

      Secondly, they wouldn't buy a stripped down base model xl, regular cab with no options equipped with the max tow package and the 3.5 EcoBoost because that's the truck you have to get in order to tow 13,000 lbs. Not something most truck buyers would buy. Get a similarly equipped half ton from other manufacturers and the payload and towing ratings are alot closer.

I just purchased a 2020 fully loaded Titan pro-4X for $49,871 in grey. After seeing and driving them all the features and quality was well above all the competition. I don’t know how someone could think any of the others would be better. And the payload and towing on the Titan was higher than any of the other off-road capable trucks I tested. I also checked with ford and I don’t find a comparable ford. (Besides the raptor I didn’t find a true off road multi purpose truck). On the interior the Ram was the only thing that came close but even the ones I could find didn’t have as many features. I didn’t even find one with the 12” screen in my price range. Excellent truck. I have an '18 SL midnight edition XD with the cummins/aisin. My dad has an f150 which can tow over 12k due to actually being equipped properly (99% of f150s sold only tow 7k to 9k, NOT 13.5k). We much prefer the xd at that weight because over 7-8k consistent towing you really should be looking to an HD. 12k pushes the truck around A LOT.

Issues, paint has faded, California sun (garaged for about 5 years, after that left outside), steering wheel leather on the backside has been damaged by the sun. Other than that it has been amazing. Also, I run 35’s with no issues. I have been looking to replace it, not really happy with anything out there, but this new Titan looks real good. Brand loyalty is joke but I know the Titans engines are bomb proof having driven mine through the California mountains and valleys it’s whole life.

    @TFLnow great write-up, but I do have to make one correction for you, the Titan doesn't come with Lane-Keep Assist, it comes with Lane-Departure Warning, which is different. Lane-Keep Assist will help steer the car back into the lane, where Lane-Departure Warning just gives you a notification that you're drifting from your lane. I don't think I would want a vehicle with a high center of gravity trying to steer for me, which is why I'm ok with it not having Lane-Keep Assist. Other than that, nice video.

    I liked the pre refresh Titan, but I really like the refreshed 2020 Titan especially in Pro4x trim. I have actually sat in one because of my job taking pictures of vehicles and I have to agree with your assessment. It definitely stepped it up a notch or three and is very competitive now. Yeah there are few things they missed on or forgot to include in a truck for that price, but still a really nice truck. One thing that I am not sure about is in Alex on Autos review he mentioned that when backing up to a trailer the rear parking sensor kept beeping and he couldn't turn it off, but that was on an SV trim. It would be rather annoying trying to line up your trailer and having that alarm go off. It looks like this one may have that sensor switch by what Tommy pointed out, but not sure.
    Nice that they gave you TFL red instead of the Baja Storm which is what everyone was getting.
