As an insurance appraiser, I look at at least 30 trailers a year with water leaks. Usually only one or two are aluminum sided. More expensive doesn't always mean less susceptible to leaks in my experience. Filon sided trailers have there issues too, depending on the manufacturer. Jayco is one of the more affordable units that don't usually have as many issues because of the way they vacuum press their filon skins to the backing board.
Let me know when you review a used trailer for dads in the middle of a nasty divorce and are camped behind his buddy’s plumbing shop in an industrial park
😵💘🙏
That would be a teardrop camper
@@Eric_Allen no joke bro! I've been there myself but didn't have the luxury of a trailer. I had to make due in my Chevy 4× extended cab
@@Eric_Allen I'm dying 😂😂💀
I hate when that happens
I had a camper with this exact layout back in the 80's. I lived in it during my junior and senior year of high school. It was an old 60's model camper. It was very comfortable for one person to live in full time.
Years ago when we bought our first trailer, which seemed to be riddled with problems, I was speaking to an older guy at the dump station of the park we were at ( it's like gathering around the kitchen at parties - everyone meets at the dump station ), he had a giant, triple axle 5th wheel that my truck and trailer would have fit inside. After talking about the issues we were having, his response was; " they're all shit, doesn't matter the size, the brand or price - they are all built the same way". He said what you do is find the floorpan that suits what you want, then go find a dealer will look after you, because you are always going to have problems. A good dealer is more important than price, or features, or any of the flashy stuff that makes you buy it.
This trailer being a Forest River product was likely built in the same factory as our Wolf Pup 16FQ - it's the same floorplan, with a few different features.
I think you're a bit off on the aluminum siding though. There are far more cases of the fibreglass sides delaminating because of water seepage, that with the aluminum siding which mostly the same as what's on people's houses and is how trailers were built for many decades. It's only the last 25 or so years that the smooth sided fibreglass (or Azdel I think?), trailers have been around.
Do a video where you take a trailer camping, from picking it up, parking at the site, hooking up everything, travelling with it - all that stuff.
That would great.
Thanks luke combs for the review!
trailer costs 14k USD
Is that considered “affordable” or “budget friendly” for such a small trailer?
@@scott8908 I can buy a LOT of motel rooms for $15K!
@@franknowakowski3103 can you go camping with a motel?
Yeah right it’s more than that anywhere I looked. By a lot.
@@franknowakowski3103 you sure can get a lot of motels don't forget your partying gift bed bugs to not trying to be funny but it's happened to me now I do campers whole lot cleaner
Love how honest he was about the cons of the trailer
I like this guy, most down to earth, straight up no nonsense. Thanks for the review.
After learning the "affordable price" I realized I am much more poor than I thought
😂
Can get a lot of hotel visits for $20,000 not counting the extra gas maintenance campsite fees etc
I've seen a $60k fifth wheel completely devistated by a blown tire, it ripped out all kinds of stuff and took thousands of dollars and months to fix. We gave up on buying a camper after seeing that. I'll stick with hotels and cabin rentals.
You can rent these on RV share for $80-$100 a night
C C plus a virus. Sounds great !
That's about 10k more than i expected.
Lol same but thats Canadian dollars its like 13k in the US plus you usually can get them cheaper at the dealer
@@lukepm4814 yeah im Canadian and that price is outrageous for such a pos lol. Lightly used is the way to go. 3 to 4 yrs old, and just replace the mattresses. Can get a good deal that way private sale
Arnie Pye that’s the way to do it ! Great deals out there on trailers hardly used
@@arniepye how the sky looking in Canada?
Nah, sub 20k is about right. Most rvs in general aren't worth the price companies are trying to get anyway.
I love your style. Its refreshing. You give it to us in plain language. The good and the bad. Wasted 2 years searching other channels. Could have made up my mind by now if I had discovered you sooner! And thanks for telling us the price!!!!
You did a great job of convincing me I don't want this piece of ****.
I would love to see truck bed camper reviews as well
That was one of the best walk throughs i've ever seen and i've watched a lot of these and thank you for giving us the current price other places act like we're going to hold them hostage if they give us a price and it changes before we buy like we don't understand how sales work! lol
My favorite TFL guy.
This guy gives great reviews. Straight and to the point.
Not going to lie this rig is pretty nice for it price! I appreciate videos like this: affordable trailers for everyday people.
Really pleased you guys are reviewing campers finally..
I'm looking to buy so this is a great help fellas, much appreciated!
Great job! Finally a RV video I can watch and enjoy
You're a fantastic entertainer, salesman and teacher. Keep up the great work!
LOVE this kind of trailer review, thanks
This video felt like you were presenting me this trailer as opposed to trying to sell the trailer, which personally I prefer being "presented" to. Good job.
Well I’m glad to see some videos on this type of RV I owned many and my current Jayco is similar to this and it’s the best choice I’ve made. The other thing I like about these style RV’s is that you can watch for certain layouts and models choose what you like and haggle haggle and haggle because unlike other vehicle RV’s of a certain type these can be had for at least 20% off a sale price, at least, and try to find the one you want as a leftover from the previous model year. Never pay MSRP, and don’t worry about dealers they usually have the worst service after the sale, on average; I’m not labeling good RV dealers, but average so I’m not loyal I just want the best deal. OH and if your in the USA never buy form Camping World unless you A. have your own financing or B. buy outright look them up you’ll see the dirty tricks the play on unsuspecting people especially first time RV buyers.
You are the best I’ve have seen so far. Keep up the great work!
Good morning Steve...that's a great little rig...it's nice I like the interior
Always enjoy your videos! The fx4 ranger video was awesome!
Love these walk-arounds would love to see a couple on models with quad bunks for those of us with larger families.
I feel you really don’t get what you pay for when it comes to trailers. They all are cheaply made. You are paying for size and added amenities, not build quality.
@Bill Madd Absolutely. I have a 2018 Flagstaff by Forest River....same parent company to Coachmen. Had a major problem from the fridge not cooling to windows leaking the first month I owned it. Constantly in the shop for warranty repairs. Now it's our of warranty and completely falling a part. Forest River is absolute garbage.
thats why you buy slightly used.. most trailers and RVs sit at storage centers 90% of the year as impulse buy. They realize its more than they bargained for or don't want to keep paying for storage and they sell it for cheap.
@@mindwreckRC So you pay less, but the problems remain. This is not like buying a used Toyota where fixing it up is money well spent. I don't harp on people for wanting into the camping world, I would do it, if there was a positive outcome to it. But one needs to know what they are getting into. And new is a crap shoot. Best buy is not a private owned slightly used either. Best buy is something from a rental company that has already done upgrades and regular maintenance before retiring it from their fleet.
@@beanhole69 My Southwind by Fleetwood, Keystone and Travel Supreme all had leaking problems as they started to go old...
@@beanhole69 My 2007 Forest River never leaked. A metal tent carport flew and hit my trailer damaging the aluminium siding. Even then it didn't leak.
Thanks, Guys. Love this series...
Love the amount of storage and the size of the frog!
Thanks for the trailer reviews, Steven. I see a lot of comments concerning leaks, repairs and maintenance... Could you do a video with tips and tricks on how to seal the seams, repair common issues, inspect electrical system, that sort of thing? It would be very helpful. :)
Love this guy. Honest and no bullshit!
Thanks for your honesty
Great video thanks for doing these!
You make the best reviews on CZcams, hands down
Awesome. Murphy Bed/Bunk bed. Combination is what I want
That's cool I have a 2019 Keystone Springdale 20.5 foot with slide out I bought it new for 18000.00 out the door I love it.
If I was to choose to go with a trailer this would be just about perfect for me with a few personal modifications of course no slide outs are great for me
Thanks for the review on this I'm looking for one myself just haven't found the one
Great video and no shots of the sun or excess spinning I will add you to my watch list thanks you
Would be great to see you all review campers on quality vs amenities. There are so many brands out there, and so many levels of quality. I would love to see you all rate and review campers like you do cars and trucks. Separate the cheap from the superior quality...the reliability, weights, how they hold up in elements (aluminum vs steel) etc. just a thought
Yo I freaking love this unit!! I need this for my relocation to Georgia
This was an excellent video! Perfect trailer for single short me.
The murphy bed and large refrigerator are definitely selling points. Would be perfect for my son, my husband, and myself...but with 2 labradors and a small terrier, I think we would be fighting for bed space👍
Wow man. A honest review thats not overly selling it and negatively shitting on it. Awesome job. No one trusts a sales pitch and most know they are being bullshitted.
Very nice! Thanks for the viewing!
I had to stop what I was doing and write you. I think it's important to tell you how awesome you were hosting this video. You are a talented presenter. I was just surfing on CZcams and found you. I like all types of adventures. I currently drive a Honda CRV (sleep in back w/o seats) with a motorcycle carrier hitch and soon to be hauling a 240 lb. Honda Trail bike on the CRV (right off the hitch) for my adventures in the Sierra Nevada range in CA. Anyway, I like it when people write me and tell me they enjoyed my books or say "thanks" when I have flown them somewhere as an airline pilot. So I want pay it forward and remind you that you're awesome! Great job on the video. Smooth and informative.
Best regards,
Robert robertlawrence.org
Really don't like to see the grey and black water at the tail end of the trailer. First trip thru a dip in the street and you would be leaving a trail of.. you get the picture. Either better guarding (something to get hung up on?) or buy one that its much closer to the wheels.
I have a Wolf Pup 15sw with this siding, I bought it because it has this siding. It last longer and is easier to fix than composite materials, and no swirly decals. I prefer stick and tin trailers. They are lighter and easier to fix or modify if you have to do something to them. The price is cheap and you sleep well, eat well and shower well in them, just as good as the heavy plastic models that cost 5 times as much.
Do a review of the different slide in truck camper models. Not necessarily for off-road . Great job on this one.
The weight of the trailer is actually just under 3500 lbs not 4500 lbs. Great video by the way. You do such a great job explaining things.
You’re so happy 😀 go lucky love ❤️ the trailer .
Thank you for the video! Very interesting to see how the differences are between American caravan manufacturers and German ones.
MrJohnny8530 and the price difference! They may generally have a higher level build quality, or at least the appearance of better quality, but they often skimp on things like air conditioning, fridge size, stove size and room on the inside.
The plastic used in many european campers is not leagl for new campers in California as it is a cancer causing agent.
Awesome informative Video experience Y'alls God Bless Ya Prayers 🙏
Nice job! Thank you.
Your present very well. Keep up the good work!
"This review" Stephen, it was good. You were straight up honest that for nearly 20K, you get what you pay for. Now my advice for anyone reading my comment, don't spend your hard earned $ on a NEW camper. It is a crap shoot. You are better off buying a used one from a rental company. BECAUSE most of those companies re-enforce them with better materials. They clean them up AND do regular maintenance on them during their time in service. PLUS they fix any manufacturers defects that it comes with so you don't have to. And finally, obviously the price is going to be lower than new. So you get a hell of a lot more bang for your buck from buying a used one from a reputable renting agency. Buying a used one from a private seller is worse than new because it is more than likely the owners got tired of the problems they did not want to deal with and are just trying to unload it on you. So that is the best advice out there. Take my word on it, I have been doing research for months on this topic. ;)
Thanks
What difference? I have not seen any difference in the materials used on the rental travel trailers over privately owned trailers. What do they change on them?

Your a very good speaker, very informative
Gorgeous unit. Maybe do a review on a destination trailer.
Steven Elmer you really do great reviews. As a guy that’s been camping for 20 years... that siding is old school and holds up well. I can’t tell you how many wavy, smooth sided campers I’ve seen. Pay attention to some used smooth sided campers. Maybe recently they’ve made them more sturdy , idk. Mini Winnie makes the same layout. Better quality. Price wise not sure
The new minnie winnies use. a new type side and roof think they call it azdell, not sure but it is great, no delamination like the smooth side glass sides out there....
Just gotta buy them used and change out the mattress. Tons of people buy them and hardly ever use them and then sell.
The Coachmen Dalmatian's name is Pete. No slides is a benefit if you really plan on being outside, not in it except to sleep and rainstorms. Nice review Steve, cameraman your Dad? stay safe and healthy! If you have a 344FL there take a look they are nice.
I’ll keep my 1997 pop up trailer I paid next to nothing for and is in great condition
Lol only cause you can't afford anything newer or better
HoweSound good one

If it does what you need, then you certainly should.
I bought my clean 1990 Sun Lite Raven pop up for $500 when my friend’s cousin upgraded. I installed a new tongue jack and replaced the worn out lifting winch, all in I’m at $667 for a fully functional camper.
Thank you for your informative review👍
Really enjoying your guys Camper Corner segment. Would like to see affordable to middle of the price range toy haulers.
Good review. Thanks
Hi. I always wondering how these things can be so little outside and so huge and comfortable inside.
They have been making "sheds" like this for decades. FEMA has these in droves.
Yep, thus "do your research". These are "dime a dozen" used, and depreciate like crazy. If you are one of those types that "must have new", then just be aware you pay a huge premium for it, and it ain't gonna matter if you decide you don't want it in a year.
volvo09 so which is worse? Buy this for 15k and sell it for 8k (46% depreciation) in 1 year and lose $7,000 or buy a better one for 30k and sell it for 22k (27% depreciation) and lose $8,000 in 1 year? The better one cost you 15k more to buy and 1k more in depreciation for a total of $16k extra expenditure for the year. Will you make that up in tax write offs? You can do quite a bit with that extra 16k. Of course, that’s not including how much it costs you in finance costs and savings. But the monthly payment for a 13k loan is quite a bit less than a 28k loan.
@@volvo09 never ever buy 'new', better to buy and fix up an older model. I had an 88 model 22ft long that I got for 1500 and spent a couple hundred fixing the water damage in the bathroom, used it a couple years and sold it for 1750.....
Nice review,. Thank you. Any possibility of reviews of 1-5 year old units with approximate pricing and maintenance required on used?
Just rented one similar to this thing. Although it was everything I needed I thought it pulled like Garbage being a single axle.
Hi guys, thanks for all thr content. Would it be possible for you guys to review no boundary trailers by forest river?
Good lookin rig,, perfect for a "Pore Boy" like myself or a construction hand that travels a lot!
You did a great review.
WOW~The camper is so cool!!
Excellent presenter. Nicely done. Great relevant information
I love this travel trailer!! Thank you for doing this video!!
Not bad! Worth looking into 👍👍
That's expensive even for Canadian dollars... Did they all go up in price?
(PS - I love that TFL Truck added a Canadian side to their channel. It helps.)
Those tin sides if put together even halfway right will last for decades. The trick is to keep water out. A big plus in the multi panel siding is ease of repair. Replacing damaged sections is a piece of cake compared to fiberglass multilayer composite units.
Yeah keep the water out, camp indoors!
These panels are are inferior to single sheer design. So many more fail points not to mention let's more heat/cold in, hence the big AC need education on this camper. It's also extremely heavy which eliminated the being able to pull it with all but Full size SUVs that can tow 6000lbs like a Yukon.
Thanks for this comment! I figure it can't be all bad! Obviously, he geared the review to people who don't have $40K to spend on a dang camper! As long as I know up front what to look for, I don't mind a few things. I'd probably throw some caulking down every seam as soon as I get it.
James Just where are the additional fail points? You still have the same number of holes cut into the sides and roof as the composite units. The seams which fail are in all the same locations. Most of the hardware installed in those holes is the same. The multiple seams running along the sides of the tin units do not leak once installed unless you park the trailer upside down or rolled over 90 degrees. The only advantage a composite has over aluminum is the heat and radiant heat transfer rate between the two. That is easily mitigated with a layer of house wrap or even just a layer of inexpensive plastic wrap which would also eliminate the heat and cold transfer along with the air drafts. It would also eliminate the condensation issues. As far as cost, when I look at the repair supplies market, tin side related materials are less expensive per square foot than composite side materials.
You should look at the R-Pod 192. It is almost the same but much higher quality.
I love this camper ❤️
This model is almost identical to the Wolf pup 16 FQ. Funny how all of these "couples" trailers are so similar
I love this. Wish we could get one in the UK
Great Review
A tiny trailer like this that can carry a 2 seater side by side is all i ask for
Very nice 👍👍 thanks for the video
That's a HUGE fridge for a TT this small, and I like the microwave being under the stove rather than above since heat from that will absorb into the stove. I wish more layouts used a murphy bed or some other folding bed type that's not a jackknife, for things like the master bed in 5Ws, which if folded could transform into a desk/office space.
The jackknife is light weight, the murphy bed is heavier so you will see the jackknife sofa. Catalina does or at least did have models with a small desk.
Great review!! This is my first time viewing your channel and I must say I'm impressed. I think this is a great "starter" unit and I appreciated the many comparisons that you explained in detail. Thanks again and Happy Camping!!
Exact same layout as my 85 lynx prowler minus the fold down bed though.
Great unit. They don’t build like that anymore

What is the industry doing for handicap access for travel trailers?
Do you need to Purchase a generator to run the AC unit?
Nice I love it
In 2017 I bought a brand new 24 ft Ultra light Passport travel trailer with bunk beds, queen size bed, slide out, out door kitchen, ample storage, AC, heat etc... for $20,000 out the door. What the hell is with the price of this sardine can? Anyone who buys it is a fool.
