NEW VIDEO EVERY WEDNESDAY! - Auta a dopravní prostředky
A lot of people saying the comparison is unfair because it's a "base" Mustang. Let's clear up the confusion, this is a $46K Mustang with performance package. These cars are extremely close in price, and both start at just over $30K. Not sure what all the hype's about. I love these cars, if it wasn't apparent from the 10 minute video. Hope you're all having a wonderful day!
+Engineering Explained lol what? i paid 36500 for my PP GT mustang. there is no base mustang with a PP for 46k even the 50th anniversary mustang was 47k.
Wonderful day here Lol
+Engineering Explained It was a good review. But other than price those 2 cars are not even in the same category. The Z is a sport compact the Mustang is a Muscle car. Very different beasts.
+mikeiscoo2 You can easily spec a 47K$ mustang
+Engineering Explained Last time I checked, the Nismo started at 42k. Mustang GT 32k. Even with the performance pack on the Mustang you are paying about 36k before incentives. Thats the big difference between these cars. Plus If you're into modding and upgrading your vehicle, there is no match to the Mustang's modability.
The blank buttons come in handy when you want to add feature like oil spiller, rocket launcher and seat ejection.

I've had one Chevelle, one Camaro, two Trans Ams, one 370z touring, one Thunderbird, one Crossfire, and now a 2017 370 Z Nismo. The Nismo is by far the most fun to drive and the most responsive. I wouldn't trade it for any of my past cars or even for all of them. Worth every penny.
To be honest I think the 370z and mustang are both amazing cars I'd be happy to own either one
Best comment
You seemed to have a lot more fun in the 370Z lol
is take the 370z
+Sam Tynnoson mustang a 370z are best cars
GTR R35 NISMO TOP CAR ON THE WORLD ! Good to hear considering your name lol
+Sam Tynnoson sounds like fan boy incoming
I've driven both cars and the 370Z is definitely more fun to drive. The Mustang is definitely more comfortable a better daily driver though
if only car channels would giveaway cars...
80eighty does. Not a CZcams channel, but they just gave away a Mk4 Supra, and now they are giving away an NSX.
+FoxTailWhipz though are they really givingaway the supra? i always see them on stance daily and others
+TypicalPanda the Supra giveaway just finished
+TypicalPanda always feel like it's given away to an insider... But regardless, this channels dope and!!! informative.
superspeedersrob is giving a m3 away when he hits 500 😆😊😄👣
We own both, mine is the Mustang GT PP with some basics my wife's is the z nismo
I have a 2019 370Z sport coupe 6MT and I have found that the road noise is due, in great part, to the tires. The OEM Bridgestone S007 tires on the car were fairly quiet. I now have Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires and they are even quieter. Road noise or wind noise is not a problem in my car. The upgraded Bose sound system in my sport pkg car is fantastic.
Great review, appreciate your input
Thank you for an honest opinion
Prius vs P1 6 key differences it needs to happen
hyper car vs eco box? what are you smoking lol
+matthew von 100% sure it was a joke
+matthew von you must be fun at parties
+TheAventadorSV Way to overreact. I see two sport cars similar in price range. You see Prius vs P1... close.
And then he can bull shit that the Prius is better, just like his bull shit of the 370z
The 370Z Nismo is one of the most beautiful sport cars ever produced. The inside of the 370Z feels like a cockpit.
Although slightly outdated
But still a great car!
Fruit Cup agreed but there is something about the Z that still looks awesome and unique . I rarely see 370z nismo. I actually haven’t seen one lol
@@fruitcup5045 how is outdated??
@@artoriasoftheabyss1575 the interior. maybe not outdated but it hasnt had much change i do like the look tho
The perfect choice was the Z. I was planning to buy a mustang GT. but what killed it was there is way too many on the road. I don't want to drive a car, and see about 50 of them on the way to work. the Z is a car you don't see everyday. especially the NISMO. which is the one I purchase in 2015. and since, I have not seen another 2015-2016 NISMO on the road in over 1 year. but mustangs, and Camaros. WOW. maybe 1k within 1 year.
LMAO that's pretty true. reminds me of when my broke ass bought a grand prix gtp, everyone and their mama had one
Same reason I bought one too though I was considering a C6 Corvette instead but it too has the same problem the Mustang has in that there are too damn many of them and they're EVERYWHERE.
I agree
Mike Hernandez They aren't that special for me to be honest, they look like any muscle car that came out from America, boxy and fatty. Meanwhile from Japan there is great variety of sport cars, very underrated ones just like the 370Z. It comes down to what is mainstream, the Mustang has been around for almost 50 years and it is very known for being a fast car, meanwhile the 370Z only is seen in movies and some car reviews on youtube, it's kinda like Apple and Android, Apple is only more popular because it has been around for longer, Apple's products are just overpriced and "underpowered" compared to some Android devices.
That being said, i still think the Mustang is a great car, just wayyyyyy overrated and lack of driving enjoyment in my opinion.
thats why you get a c5 z06
that 370z sounds awesome even though it has a v6
+Adrian B Sounds like a vacuum cleaner to me.
+Matthew D You are just parroting what every unoriginal auto journalist says. The sound really isn't that bad
+Matthew D
mustangs are the pinnacle of lame. even with a 5.0 V8 in a straight line is BARELY quicker than a 3.7 V6.
throw it in the track and you would have to make sure there are no crowds around for the Mustang to crash into ofc. but it would still lose. 370z is just a better engineered car.
A 370z will run a quarter mile in 13.1 to 13.4 second depending on the driver. So yes I'd say that's insanely close for an engine with 2 extra cylinders and 1.3 liters to boot.
+Matthew Naylor gotta remember the 370z takes off quickly due to steep gearing, after 60 it gets slower and slower, if you were to run a half mile between the 370z and a 5.0 it would get lost , I like the sound of a 370z and with a v6 in it it's pretty quick, but it's no comparison to the 5.0, maybe a 3.8 v6 genesis would be a better match
God that Nissan is HOT!
I agree. the nismo just kills it in the aesthetics department compared with the Base and mid level
Well they was a dull color for the stang, you don't get to see its true beauty.
Both cars are beautiful. No doubt,
Yea I just want a nice car
I got a 2014 Mazda3 GT sedan... Its nice, great contours, great lines. For a four cylinder it definitely packs a punch; however, the car isn't meant to be driven like a 370z, or a mustang etc. When you do, inside your brain is sayin why dude.... which is why I wanna trade it in for a Z base. Add an AAM 2.5" Catback exhaust. We chillen then
$46k kinda misses the point of the original Z.
+MrSapper21 Indeed, but you're not missing that much if you don't get the Nismo.
As mentioned, you can get into the Z for $30K. Both the Mustang and Z I tested were over $46K.
+Engineering Explained First of all! let me say how excited i am that i got a reply from the man himself.Second, i was thinking that for that amount of money, i'd have to be a die hard fan. i guess its just not my style but i get it. my best friend got one when we got back from iraq and it was amazing but just not what i dig.
+semiautoriflelover1 well you seem to just be an sti fanboy
+semiautoriflelover1 ahh makes sense it's just because of your profile pic
For those who didn't get the joke at the beginning. I mean honestly I wasn't going for much but it confused some folks: czcams.com/video/PNtZ7Kmoay0/video.html
It made me laugh
+VikVaughan
Or... both!
lol
+Engineering Explained Haha well played, I don't watch politics, but the link totally helped. Btw, I get the feeling from most your videos you talk a bit fast, is that just me or have others thought the same?
Rick perry lol oops
Iv'e test drove both. Both amazing cars, but my type of driving best suits the Z. Don't get me wrong, the Mustang is a great car, but I'd rather drive a car that I wouldn't see on a daily basis.
The rarity of a Z is a point often overlooked. Camaros, mustangs, corvettes ect are everywhere.
the Z is just so much cooler.
Nads WTF kind of logic is that LMFAO
+billy heaton mustangs are for douche bags with little dicks
billy heaton it looks the same because it doesn't need to change.
billy heaton what is your grammar
Nads The 370 out dated man get over it
In love with the 370z nismo. That's My Dream Car
I currently own a Nismo after selling my '15 GT. The Z is hands down much more enjoyable to drive. It is truly a drivers car, with every aspect meant for people who enjoy the pure act of DRIVING, and not just riding. The Mustang was nice and all, but feels like a Caddy compared to the Z, which I actually dont like. If I'm buying a sportscar it's supposed to feel raw and visceral, I want to be thrown around in it, I want to feel every nook and cranny in the asphalt, I want the tires to tell me exactly what they are driving over.
I also made several road trips in both cars and actually find the Z more comfortable despite lack of leather/cooled/power seats. They are just a better design in my opinion. Mustang is nice, but Z is fun.
Cod Mott c
Don't forget to compare commerce. :)
Riyad Kalla twice
I'm glad I choose the 370z over the GT. they both are beautiful cars but for me the main determining factor was rarity and how you feel when you drive it.. I instantly feel in love with my 370
+Michael Gonzalez The "stang" is prob faster over 60mph, but honest how often do we get to experience that on a daily basis with the daily grind being stuck behind the boring prius driver with the transgender organic cage free rescue dog?
So I went with the Z. I want to pay "reviewers" to just review the Z with the sport package. That's ALL we need! Instead, they "review" the costlier Nismo or the stupid convertible.
$33k gets you a Z + bigger brakes. End of story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LMAOOOOOOOOOO i love this comment bro@@07wrxtr1
I've had zero complaints with the Z clutch, but the Z specialists at my dealer suggested I replace my clutch fluid with Nissan GTR brake fluid. After I opted to use GTR brake fluid / it did feel smoother.. Didn't know it could but I gotta say clutch just feels better.
Anyway - you 370z guys look into it.
Great review, thanks for the comparison.
I own a 2012 370Z base model with Sport package with 12,000 miles and honestly it's an exceptional performance car for 24,500 dollars. You really can't buy a car off the lot that's better without extensive modification.
There are many Z haters, and I could never understand why they dislike the Z so much. For the most part, Nissan has stayed true to the Z name and the interior is NOT that bad, and doesn't feel extremely cheap like most claim it does (most who do don't even own one). It's just plain looking, and what's wrong with that when all you care about is the driving experience? Yes it has quite a bit of noise from the outside but if you have the music up even a little bit it no longer matters.
For a car that handles incredibly and can outrun 90 percent of Mustangs/Camaros up to 2016, for the price you really can't beat it. You just can't. People will always bash the Z, but take it from those who actually own or have owned one for the truth.
I agree, the 370 stock block can handle up to 800hp while the stock
Internals can handle up 600hp when boost with a fully
Built 370z with forged internals can reach the 800s easily an people are using single turbo kits with stock everything an pushing 700 to 600 ho easily raping stangs on the street likes it’s nothing! An the Z isn’t plain at all! The curves head light shape is excellent I mean beautiful! That’s why Lamborghini tried to buy nissans heads light from the 300zx because Nissan knows how to design a car... an for the price of 370z s now you can get them for 19k from the dealership with sports package years around 12 to 15 or even earlier if you can’t h the right sell.. my point is people hate on the Z for reason I’ll never get an I’m here to say the 370z inside is not cheap an is not outdated.... Nissan should’ve remade the car for 10 years over an over but the car is very solid built an i heat the gt mustang build quality is trash an they constantly have oil problems
You should use the clip from your interview at Carthrottle for the intro. I can't stop hearing that every time haha.
I'm a mustang guy, but I really do love those 370s. I think the mustang benefits from having a little more room for storage or really uncomfortable backseat passengers, but if that wasn't a concern then I'd be really tempted to pick up a Z.
+FreakFiveOh ability to hold snowboards.......................advantage Mustang. LOL
Sahadi420 lol
***** Agreed, if I was really set on a 2 seater, I'd probably just go for a vette.
+FreakFiveOh nah, insurance is too expensive for them. Get a lesser car, and turn it into a vette killer, and save on the insurance.
+Sahadi420 you would drive a RWD muscle car up a snowy mountain? might be my perspective as an Australian showing here but BRAVE!
So glad someone did this comparison. These are exactly the two I'm considering and because in my mind they are a similar market (slightly above average prices for above average versions of iconic sports cars). I ended up choosing the Z before i saw this but havent signed yet. Feel better about the decision to get the Nismo now :-). Great vid.
I've owned the 2018 Nismo 370z and now the 2020 Mustang GT (PP1). The Mustang is better in terms of performance, luxury, and overall features but the Z is very special in its own way and I only saw a handful of other ones in the 2 years I owned it, it was an extremely fun car to own and I loved how it looked - it was extremely aesthetic.
I look forward to your videos. I like the engineer centric reviews and engineering explains series. Keep up the good work.
Nissan z are legendary and love how Nissan keeps it with 6 cylinder which is fast and better gas mileage than a v8.
I just bought the nissian 370z nismo best decision of my life I don't think I'll see another one for a while
I have a 350z the 370z nismo is my next car in the next 2 years . Can't wait
Buy a 350z for no money at all and go and have some fun. Mine is awesome - it's my weekend drive, due to it having 2 seats. Every time I get back into it and drive it it reminds me of what a great, fast and precise brute it is - and everyone always comments about it. Garages love to work on it - the car wash guys love to wash it. Apparently the engine is a Honda and is rock solid. I've only had mine up to 160mph but it felt smooth as silk. Buy a stainless straight through large bore exhaust and save 5MPG and go a little quicker with a lovely sound.
I live mostly in London, where there are many Supercars Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maclaren etc. I see more Ferrari, Lamborghinis and Aston Martins than all of the 350z or 370z put together. Serious fun. Insurance less than £450 - and I do not have a clean licence.
Do you have a nismo yet?
How's that nismo? So far I love my 370z.
William Connolly it’s been 2 years now have you get the 370z nismo yet ?
@@jimenenitojimenez3296 😂😂 was gonna ask the same.
This really helps me in my future decision, 10x. I really appreciate all your videos, good info. Good luck
Great video, thank you! Considering a 370Z, your comparison is very helpful... keep up the great videos, you're a natural! Very pleasant to listen to you talk :)
370z nismo is way better looking than a common mustang u just don’t see it every day
Do a Nissan gtr vs Nissan versa I'm dying to know the 6 key differences
+Long Journey Versa nails all categories 10/10 would buy again.
hey, great videos, got me hooked.! i was wondering, saw this great consept and wondered why it never became "a thing" so, can you do a video on the how/why of a 5 stroke engine.? Regards, Nick
$46k !!! you could have bought a 2012 Z06 !!!!
hahaha only 4 and a half years late to the Rick Perry jokes.
But that Ted Cruz combo tho!
+Engineering Explained Yknow it was really fantastic, but believe me I will be so good at reviews your head will spin.
+Doctor Ferdinand Haha, "CZcamsrs love me."
+Engineering Explained kind of disappointed more people didn't get the joke.
Or used 370z for 19k
Great comparison! These are 2 cars I've been checking out for potential purchase in the future. Thanks!
Had a mustang gt and I traded it in for a nismo 370 both 2016
Nissan4lyfe
i just bought a 2013 370z about 3 months ago. Granted its the base model but its in magma red and i bought it for 21 grand out the door. i think it was a steal given that its in mint condition with only 14 thousand miles. Now i traded my 350z for it and before i bought it i test drove the 2015 mustang gt. The new GT is leaps and bounds better then the previous gen but the only think i couldn't get over was how heavy that car felt. It was refined and smooth felt good to drive but when i jumped on the throttle it didnt really throw me back like i expected. when you get on a vette for example you get thrown back hard the mustang doesnt at all. honestly say that my 370 feels faster then when i drove the Stang. id never spend over 35grand for a Z so the nismo imo is outrageously overpriced but this mustang in a couple years will be a bargain to own when you can pick it up for what i paid for my Z
+kwazykilla87 I agree the mustang feels like a powerful sedan just to heavy plus you see TONS of them.. On the other side who would pay 46 for a Nismo when you could get a Stingray for a little more that will beat it down in about everything.
+Ken R I totally agree the Nismo is rediculously overpriced. I think whoever whoever buys one must be going through a serious midlife crisis. it's just not 46grand worth of car.
Lol I don't think you own a mustang if you're not driven in the back of your drivers seat, Every time I had my S550 I'm always smiling at enjoying the power I feel. That and I have mods in mine lol
+kwazykilla87 Totally agree with you. When a car only sells so poorly, they have to jack up the price to make the profit.
kwazykilla87 The mustang has a really short power band and its all at the top of the tac. Hit it from 2.5k and it feels sluggish...hit it from 5k and it rips.
Thank u so much. As always, very informative videos.
I was really hoping to find a comparison like this... It makes it so much better that it comes from you.
if there is one thing i hate about the mustang its the "ground speed" and "revolutions per minute" on the guages
+Mitchell Mortenson LOL watch the needles, and not the words........much more fun.
+Mitchell Mortenson its based off the P51 mustang....
aahh, ok if it is, thats kinda cool
+Mitchell Mortenson Yeah I do believe they are referencing the P51. This gives it a little extra personality to me as a aviation nerd ;)
I like that about it. it's cool I work in aviation and its awesome.
that said ford doesn't design a car to your taste. if you don't like it buy a camaro
Question: When will the USA start use metric system? Quick tip: If you tell a data in imperial (we cant compare 3300 lbs to anything), please put the SI data on the screen as a subtitle. Thanks: rest of the world :)
Before the recession, it was slated to be around 2030. Now I believe it will be around 2045 or near that year. Changing millions of machines and the scale of US manufacturing means it takes a lot of time and a lot of money to switch to SI, but they are
+philliesrock159 Thank you for the answer, I didn't know that they are doing it. I haven't been in the US but as far as I seen every product on the grocery stores has the SI weight on it, too (so they want people to get used to these units I guess)
+winyettyu When you have billions of US dollars to completely restructure GPS, road, airplane, and manufacturing systems and tools. It's not like there isn't anyone who doesn't want to use metric only, just in order to change everything, it would be a costly and timely mess.
+JinzoDefiler That's why we say "Kays" - "Ten Kays per Hour" - it's slang but everyone uses it.
+winyettyu
Perhaps I'm just really stupid, but what's the problem?
Just divide the given weight by 2.2 to convert to kilograms...
love your videos. Do you have one on engine porting? couldnt find it
I love your videos! You give a lot of feedback and interesting data. You go deep in the details. Your videos with explaining how things work were cool but your videos when you're behind the wheel are even better! And you've got good accent. I'm from Poland and I have no trouble wiht understanding everything you say.
My mother is Polish! Must be that 50% keeping speech clear. :)
+Engineering Explained So basically you're not only American but also Polish since in our law you heritage it with your blood ;)
LOL
Check Engine on the mustang
And what is with the text Ground Speed?
Does this car have an optional wings like in james bond where it can fly?
The "Ground Speed" text is supposed to denote it from the P51 Mustang (airplane) which it's rumored the mustang was named after.
+IIGrayfoxII Engine probably isn't started, he just turned it on to show the display. And Ground Speed is something they did on old Mustangs, since there's also a plane named the Mustang.
+Haloruler64 If the engine wasn't started you will also see the Oil Pressure Light and Battery Charging system lights, unless those lights are else where.
+IIGrayfoxII good point. What time stamp are we discussing? I'd like to take another look.
+IIGrayfoxII If you notice, RPM is at zero. No CEL, it's on accessory mode.
Bravo! Good to see a reviewer acknowledging and appreciating the 370 for what it is. Personally, between these two, I'd choose the 370 with little hesitation. It's a magnificent machine.
Greta video! Just what I was looking for. I've been loved Z's since I was a teenager and owned 3 240sx's. I love the new Mustangs and have driven my friends touch stage 2 many times. Great car and I thought I would love driving one but I found it lacked character. The Z's to me have always been a driver's experience. A raw experience that I quite enjoy. I will stick with my quest for a Nismo in the coming years. Thanks again!
I owned both cars. It was a touring 370Z and traded it for a GT/CS. True story, the first test drive in the Mustang I was gonna trade it an arrive at the Z meeting in the Mustang but he didn't give me a good price.
My major issues with the 370Z were:
Often fuel starvation at the track when cornering.
Expensive to mod.
A lot of weak parts (slave cylinder, differential and axles)
The agressive 6th gear is terrible on the highway with a loud exhaust, really terrible.
A mandatory oiler cooler to track the car, all of them overheat
Pros: better handling from the factory than the Mustang.
Mustang pros: cheaper parts and better equiped from the factory minus the floaty crapy suspension
Cheap parts and easy to make power.
I like the rev match my own down shifts in my 350z it makes me feel like a badass
+Tyler Hough You can in this as well! Simple on/off switch for the feature next to the gearshift. :)
+Engineering Explained lol I know right? A lot of ppl complain about that feature when is just the push of a switch away, but I love it on mine 😄
the Z is just more fun car period even if you lose in a straight race the Z is just more fun as a daily driver
Great review!
Love your videos man, saw you on snapchat🤘
I'm sure the mustang sounds great, but that 370 sounds outstanding.
They the best sounding cars in the line up for me... 370 being the best sounding V6 and Mustang having the best sounding V8. Different, but both amazing...
+8-Bit drove both good cars but for 46k you can about buy a stingray... no way
I have a 2018 mustang GT. Mustang for sure even tho the 370z are cool. Not enough power for me.
You hit the nail on the head. The Z is a driver's car. Makes no apologies for that fact.
I guess a better comparison to the Mustang would be a manual shift IPL Infiniti Q60S.
The Mustang is a sport coupe while the 370Z is a true sports car. Personally I love the 350Z and 370Z. Also really like the G37 coupe and Q60. The new Q60 Redsport looks like it will be quite a car and probably has the engine that we will find in the next Z car, a twin turbo 400+ hp 3.0L V6. Or, better still, a twin turbo version of the 3.7L that will probably deliver 100 more Hp then the present VQ37. Now that would be a heck of a Z!
Nissan improved the clutch starting in 2018 by adding an Exedy clutch. I'm in the process of getting a 2019 370Z sport coupe and am looking forward to driving it in twisty roads here in Northern California.
46k for a Nissan 370z? People cant seriously be buying these. Thats just about Porsche Cayman and the new BMW M2 money.
Never thought I'd see the day when a Mustang makes essentially the same MPG figures as a Nissan, all while having 2 more cylinders, 85 hp more and 124 lb/ft more torque.
Finn Custom Knives M2? Maybe if it doesn't come with power windows. A BMW with options is 30k more
Dmitriy Nanaziashvili yes with options. However base they are 51k, just 5k more than this Datsun.
Main reason I bought a used one
The Z is by far the better car.
Keep up the videos, they're good
Point is drive what you like. I've had 3 Z cars...72 240, 80 280zx and a 90 300zx...I like the 2 seat sports car, I dont need a back seat.
It's my weekend car, not my daily. Sure when I was younger, I drove my Zs as my only transportation, but that was then, now I can afford a weekend toy...and if I feel like it drive it to work some too. Point is drive what you like...I like a more precise machine. IDFC if the interior is outdated, which is BS btw...I dont have to have every new I phone either. The Z works...period, end of story. I like my first gen Titan for the same reason. It fing works! I dont need gimmicks, and crap. Give me a well built machine and I'm good. I'm a huge fan of that mentality. It's why I like cars like say, the C5 Z06, or the IS F and the 370Z. People complain about cheap interiors. News flash: ready? Wait for it....EVEN FERRARI USES PLASTICS! So stop bitching...some of us are automobile enthusiasts and the rest of you are just spoiled brats who are never happy and must must have that new iPhone or infocrapment system taking up all the real estate in their dash while the real enthusiast DRIVE with our eyes on the fing road. And one last thing, if the more than adequate 350hp in a 3400lb car isn't "enough" then buy something else or keep it and modify it to a say, the 430 to 460hp range
Either way if dont own one then stfu, if you do, then you should be happy. Bottom line, get it? I bet most of you still dont...
I get it 😂 and I’m with you
I would spend a few grand more a get a GT350. The 370z is so old.
that's because you're bias and so am I
+Ryan Robinson you will NOT find a GT350 for MSRP. Dealers are already marking up the price by $20k
+maximus9401 Generally you are right but with a lot of searching I was able to find one at MSRP. They are usually marked up 5 to 10k for a regular GT350. The GT350R generally goes for 30k over because they are only making 500 a year.
+Ryan Robinson old 370z ?? lol
+No Way It was an equal price comparison.
Get a Mustang if you wanna be like everyone else and go fast in a straight line in comfort. Get a Z if you know how to drive and want to grind thru the turns and get down and dirty because you are connected to the road and your car... you feel it all in a Z...it's def not comfortable but it makes up for it in fun. This is from somebody who has owned 2 stangs a tt350 and now a 370. I love em both just love the Z a little more :D it's all car no flash.
Lol. Are you trying to say Mustangs can't handle? The S550 says otherwise
the blank buttons are also for when you want to add other mods/aesthetic mods so you can put in switches for example if you installed an auto spoiler.
Having owned and/or driven both cars, I can say that the 370z is the better-sorted and more fun car. It's also less common. They are very different animals. The Z is more like a cheaper Japanese Corvette, while the Mustang straddles the pony car and sports car segments.
I still can't get it around my head how cars are so incredibly cheap in the states. 35k $ for a 370z or a mustang GT? Or did I mishear something? The Mustang sells for 70k $ in Finland (or in most of Europe) and I can't remember the price of the Nissan but it's similar anyway. If there is anyone from the states coming this way some time if you wonder why we Europeans drive so small and cheap cars it's because here they're not cheap nor is gasoline either.
I agree with you, I went to Peru in South America and just out of curiosity I inquired about a 370z touring and I was $67.000...
I guess I'm lucky to live in the US otherwise I'd never pay 70k for a sports car
+charjohnnie sic And that's basically the reason one doesn't find that many sports cars here. If you do, they are usually something somewhat practical like a four door BMW M3 or M5 or say they AUDI S4 or similar. We do have rather wealthy people with money enough to shell over 100k on a car but they are usually four door saloons or big SUVs.
+charjohnnie sic and I forgot to mention there is a good amount of small hot hatchbacks as they are reasonably priced and a lot of fun without consuming your yearly wage.
+SuomiFinlandPerkelee I would expect that many EU countries mark up the prices and add gas guzzler taxes. Plus the cost of shipping.
This comparison is quite hard to make a sports ccar vs a muscle car.
the new mustang is more of a sports car then a muscle car imo
@@cat-em3mj a sport car for straight lines hahhahaahha
As a native Texan I can appreciate a good Rick Perry reference. Wish he was running again so we had more blooper reels. Nice comparo!
Extremely nice review there! very informative, definitely my "go to" channel for extremely in depth explanations and reviews.
Really curious though, which of the two is the better one for a daily driver? Sure they're fun on the weekends but who is more "livable" on an everday basis? Thanks!
+Rotary Rotor I think it comes down to personal preference and your level of softness desired. I dd a 350 (which is harsher than the 370s I've sat in) and I think it's fine, but I'm definitely looking out for all of the potholes and sewer grates. I will say that space wise I've never had a problem. I can fit all my groceries and costco runs in the back without any problems.
kinda leaning towards the nissan because it seems fun both design and drive wise. Haven't driven one yet but looks fun. Anyway thanks for the input!
Rotary Rotor Drive both and get whatever one you like more! Also I haven't looked at used Mustang prices, but there are definitely deals to be had on used Z's...
The Mustang is definitely more livable from a comfort and visibility standpoint. It is larger, so for crowded cities it could seem a bit big.
yup size is an issue too, garage entry is a bit too tight lol and i feel tiresome driving a big car. But i like mustang because of it's somewhat conservative design but you immediately know its a mustang and who doesn't love the sound of a v8 right? anyway, thanks for the reply!
Fact-Mustang Can't Go sideways like the 370z...😹 angry mustang owners😹😹😹😅
Have ya seen mustang crash videos lately?😂 you're right though! Haha
Unless there is a crowd
Ever heard of Vaughn Gittin JR? Professionally drifts a Mustang and wins as well
Christopher Wisner key word "professional"
just bought a 370 z coupe my first race was a gt came up muscled up rev rev! I had him for breakfeast! ill keep my z!
did you notice that the mustang has Rev match for up shift, but sadly doesn't have it for downshifting
I've never been a fan of the base 370z styling but the small aesthetic changes on the nismo version look so good. Possible future car I'm thinking, after it depreciates in value of course.
Funny I had to made this decision. I went for the Mustang.
+Ryan McGlasson not really. Because it will leave the 370 in the dust.
+Ryan McGlasson I bet you feel like a twit now, dontchya? lmfao.
+sunnyjason no way
+sunnyjason no way
+sunnyjason no way
I would also pick the 370z over a mustang, but there is no way I would pay 46k for one! Hopefully the next gen Z is lighter.
+john marks If I had 46k spare I definitely would :P
+john marks I would pay an extra 3k and get a gt350. 520+horses vs 350.
Matthew D I think I'd rather go better handling over horsepower, but to each their own ;)
danodude The new GT350 and GT350r might be the best handling cars for the money.
Matthew D Yeah no doubt they handle great (especially compared to what I drive). I've always been a Nissan guy myself, but those new Mustangs are really sweet looking, too ;)
Great info, I subbed after your "5 things you should never do" video. Is this Oregon? Feels like Oregon (I grew up in SW PDX).
Happy to hear it! Yep, Oregon. Thanks for subscribing!
I really respect your channel, and as a subscriber, will continue to watch for the engineering videos because you're probably the best on CZcams ;). This review was simply a let down, however.
Basically, the Mustang wins in every category except for steering and you still give the win to the Nissan. I've noticed you have quite the bias for Asian cars and while that is fine personally, that bias doesn't make for great reviews. Furthermore, you didn't seem to really stick to your categories citing the Nissan's "fun to drive" factor over actual results based on the category. You literally didn't really talk about the engine performance during the engine category. I would've loved to hear 0-60 numbers, how each car applies power throughout their RPM range, etc. However, you praised the Nissan for overly aggressive gearing. Was that Mustang a PP? You reviewed potentially a base Mustang against the optioned up Nissan. While you may not have control over what cars you receive, you could mention that.
+Rinzler Let's clear up the facts:
1. Fun to drive does not necessarily mean the better performer. I believe the '16 MX-5 is more fun to drive than both of these cars, but both of these cars will stomp it on a track. There's a beauty to lightweight cars, and the pounds shed on the Nissan tend to make it more fun to drive. I wouldn't say I bias Asian vehicles, but rather that I find vehicles that weigh less typically far more engaging to drive. I don't think that's necessarily flawed logic.
2. Both cars hit 60 under 5 seconds. I believe the Mustang is slightly quicker. Not a huge difference.
3. I praised both gearboxes, and preferred the Mustang's 6th speed gearing (as mentioned in the video).
4. This is a Mustang GT with Performance Package. Both cars rang in over $46K msrp.
The Mustang's weakest link is it's transmission. It's poorly designed and the failure rates are unacceptable. Ford has always had issues in that area. While i agree that the interior is beautiful, i still would not buy one. I just can't fathom having $35,000 of my money tied up in one. Nissan offers a much better warranty than Ford also. It covers the entire car where Ford only covers the transmission, some engine parts, oil change and transmission flush at 30k miles but they cover nothing electrical. If your navigation system goes out or your power windows fail to work, Your on the hook to fix it with your own money.
Sounds about right, Ford just does things half ass. I don't care how nice some of their cars get, I've been fooled before by ford, I rather just stay away from them
You can't tie up 35k for a Stang but you can tie up 46k for a Z? WTF? Also, Mustang transmissions are stout as hell. Have you personally had a tranny failure or are you just an idiotic sheep that reads something online and makes a general assumption?
I like how almost the entire review you only drove the Z
+Mar093 I only have one press car in at a time. :)
I’d like to see you revisit this now that the mustang has a performance pack2 with rev match and a more aggressive suspension and tire setup to a 2019 Z
I have a 2005 350z and it's a blast to drive , excellent handling lowered on 19 with coil overs it zips around turns
Great review but there is also a 7th key difference. The Z turns heads, car enthusiasts, gear heads, general public..women.. I can't take my '17 Pearl White Nismo anywhere without drawing serious attention especially here in the Northeast where there not many Z's like in So Cal. No stang, mopar, bmw, camero or vette comes even close to the profile beauty of the Z.. art deco classic lines that are timeless... drive one, unless ya don't like drawing attention...
I agree the Z always catches my attention I love the Zs when it comes to American performance cars! Everybody either has a mustang, Challenger or a charger an they’re just not fun to look at unless it’s a zl1 or. Demon
Price per performance I would get the mustang. Not to mention parts are more available if you live in the states.
+chunky soup you have to overnight parts from japan for the z xp
$$$$$
+chunky soup Yes, and they're made to mod now, so the sky is the limit with them. I did it with mine.
mustang has more tech and look nicer too
Typical youtube reply. "Horsepower!" No matter what, horsepower trumps all. Weight distribution? Who cares! Taking a turn without hitting pedestrians? Who cares! I would rather have 350 horsepower for 200,000 miles than 430 horsepower for 100,000 miles.
I am amazed how much he attributes the weight difference as such a meaningful thing. the weight difference has almost nothing to do with the handling difference. the nissan is built more for handling, the stiffer body dynamics and wheel base/location is much more the reason for the better feeling in turns.
I recently started rallying. I really would love for you to do a video on tire compounds, treads and pressures. A reply would be much appreciated. Thanks
370z Nismo is one gorgeous reliable car, whereas Mustang is made by Ford aka trash. 😏
The 2015 Mustang is the best performer, the host failed to mention the drive modes with the mustang ( Sports mode, Sports+, Track Mode and snow/wet ) my favorite is Sports + the car lunges from the start and believe me if you guys did a drag on the show, the 370 Z wont stand a chance against the Big 5.0 V8 Coyote GT, it felt like a biased review leaning more in favor of 370, Ive been in a couple 370Z's and theyre full of plastic crap in the inside.
They really aren't in the same price range... The Nismo starts at $42k and the mustang GT starts at just over $32k. For me the choice would be obvious.
370Z starts at $30K. Both cars as tested were over$46K. They're priced similarly, depending on options. Base 370Z is only down 18 HP.
Are you still driving your sti? I want to see another review or update on it
Mustang is not a SPORT CAR! It's just a pony.
ever been to ANY modern race event? Mustangs are sports cars. But what would you know
Zed, repeat after me, ZED :)
it says Z NOT "ZED"
+Arvin Singh it's 370z
+Arvin Singh British ;)
I like Zed it sounds better but this is America so Zee!!
+Wildman lmao
Yoooo those button blanks are killing me had no idea I’m getting ready to start my savings to get one for shure but damm killed my mood a lil 😅😂
awesome video, just awesome.
How can you even compare these cars. Nismo all day
+mountainhobo
ha
46k for a car that gets whooped on by an S550 all day? The Stang is 35k and outperforms a Z all day. And if you don't beleive me, why does the GT perform in a higher class than a Z?
Weird comparison. Sport Tuner vs Muscle car? Apples and oranges man.
well, I bet there is someone who stands between these cars :p
the price range is the same but it should have been the ecoboost vs the 370
Is it impossible for someone to choose between two similarly priced, similarly capable sports cars? I try not to get caught up into random marketing terms for where a car lies in the field.
+Tj Case If you compare apples to oranges, out come the differences. People who say that typically just don't like what they find...
+Tj Case trust me, when you're looking at something within a price range, you tend to consider many diverse options. Not everybody searches by a certain class of cars. A lot of people just search for fun to drive cars for their budget
i love the VQHR transmissions. Many HR transmissions are usually being used on 2jz builds and is known to handle the 2jz's torque real well.
So true. Z-car drivetrains have been built like a brick shithouse for decades.
Seems that the biggest gripe people have with the Mustang is they see too many and feel if they buy one, they won't feel special. So what if other people have them? You don't buy a car to impress others, do you? You buy it for your own enjoyment.
I can definitely see that the 370Z may be more fun to drive (e.g more engaging) because it's a low volume car for Nissan so the people who buy it are content with it being a little more "crude", whereas with how many Mustangs being sold, people demand more creature comforts.
