Hyundai Changed The Game - An "8-Speed" Electric Car!
Can Hyundai's Ioniq 5 N win over combustion enthusiasts?
A performance EV with drift mode, shift mode, and variable torque split!
Subscribe for more videos! - goo.gl/VZstk7
Hyundai's Ioniq 5 N is a fresh new approach to electric performance vehicles. The car is packed with customizable features so the driver can configure the vehicle to their exact preferences. We'll deep dive into ten of these features, summarized below:
1. N Pedal - Developed as a solution to overcome the inherent weight and size of EVs, N Pedal was designed for instant turn-in behavior and enhanced throttle sensitivity, increasing the regenerative force to create a dynamic weight transfer that helps to sharpen corner entry.
2. N Torque Distribution - adjusts the front and rear drive ratio, providing fully variable torque distribution that can be adjusted for eleven levels.
3. N Drift Optimizer (w/ Torque Kick Drift) - helps to maintain the drift angle by balancing multiple vehicle controls. The integrated Torque Kick Drift function allows the driver to simulate the clutch kick action of rear-wheel-drive ICE vehicles for driving scenarios that require more immediate drift initiation.
4. N Grin Boost (NGB) - delivers an instant thrust from IONIQ 5 N’s dual motors by increasing the power output and torque for ten seconds
5. N Launch Control - provides maximum traction for the fastest possible start, allowing the driver to launch their vehicle like a professional race car
6. N Race - utilizes a motorsport-derived philosophy that optimizes resources for the best track experience.
7. N Battery Preconditioning - optimizes the temperature of the battery cells to be as efficient as possible.
8. N e-Shift simulates the behavior of the eight-speed dual-clutch N DCT of ICE N models by controlling the motor's torque output and power and simulating the jolt feeling between shifts. It provides the push feel of a DCT transmission and various levels of simulated engine braking using regeneration. The purpose is to increase driving fun, provide a more interactive driving experience, and deliver the same emotions of an ICE on a racetrack or a windy road.
9. N Active Sound+ - produces three sounds - ‘Ignition’, an ICE N engine and exhaust sound, and two futuristic EV sounds, including ‘Supersonic’, inspired by fighter jets - through eight internal speakers and two external speakers. Drivers can even rev the “engine” when N e-Shift is activated and transmission is in park or neutral.
10. N Road Sense - automatically recommends that the driver activate N Mode when double-curved road signs are detected. This lets the driver enjoy even more driving fun.
Honorable mention: e-LSD - The electronic Limited Slip Differential (e-LSD) controls the amount of torque sent to the rear wheels, enhances handling performance when turning at high speeds, and improves wheel-slip compensation. This is a real, mechanical differential with e-hydraulic locking action for the rear motor!

My 89 IROC 305-T5 has the absolute best throttle response and feel of any car I've ever driven (and that's a lot). It has a physical link with long travel and a very soft spring, but also a throttle position sensor, mass airflow sensor and electronic fuel injection. The computer is very good at using these in combination to give you a nice resonse and feel. No rev hang, and I can do power shifts if I don't mind replacing the clutch every few months.

You’re destroying the engine and you’re wearing out the starter every time you dry start a motor that’s where the majority of your friction transpires as far as a starter if you use the starter 100 times more per day than a conventional vehicle that doesn’t have the start feature that starter will go out more frequently. It is very expensive and very labor-intensive so it’s a terrible idea.

Samual Morey in 1826 used ethanol for fuel when he invented the internal combustion engine. Nicolas Otto also used ethanol in the internal combustion engines in the 1860s. Henry Ford's Quad-cycle ran on his favorite fuel ethanol and he designed the Model T for it as well. Contrary to what our Rockefeller funded school textbooks might say, kerosene did not take over whale oil for lighting in the 1800s, it was ethanol. Use of whale oil use for lighting quickly rose and fell with a peak of just 17 million gallons in 1845. Burning fluid which was mostly ethanol was the number one fuel for lighting. The first oil well was in 1859 and in 1860 ethanol production was 100 million gallons. Then in 1862 a humongous tax of >$2.00/gal was put on ethanol to pay for the Civil War while kerosene's tax was just $.10/gallon. Literally overnight, toxic and dirty kerosene became the number one fuel for lighting. Some 44 years later in 1906, trust busting Teddy Roosevelt would come along with the Free Alcohol bill to remove that humongous tax just in time to fuel Henry Ford's favorite fuel in his Model T. John D. "competition is a sin" Rockefeller would then use political connections and fund a women's group with an exorbitant sum of money to get Prohibition passed with a Constitutional Amendment no less. Someone the likes of Teddy would not so easily get in his way again.

The most hilarious aspect of this discussion about H2 vs. electric is that only water vapor comes out of the H2 exhaust... meanwhile Electric car drivers "what is an exhaust?" Then we come to the aspect of producing electricity being a source of pollution. H2 production, transport and storage needs much more electric energy than any electric car requires to have the same effect. The technology to transfer energy over long distances directly from the power plant to the charging station nearly instantaneously exists and is already in place... but you still need a big lorry that can act as a potential high pressure freeze bomb to get the H2 from the production/pressurization plant to the underground potential high pressure freeze bomb storage in the fuelling station before being pumped into your personal potential high pressure freeze bomb car. Oh, Did I also mention that H2 is extremely difficult to store in any container, as the molecules are smaller than any other known molecule including container walls?
