  • Welcome to my NEW channel where every week I will be doing a book summary on the topics of parenting or self-development, specifically discussing the top parenting books every parent should buy or read and ones that have made a positive difference in my life.
    My goal is to help other busy parents get the tools and strategies they need to improve all the relationships in their lives. Because let’s face it, reading parenting books is often at the bottom of our priority list when we are juggling so many things in our life!
    I will be uploading a new video every week and my aim is to keep them under 10 minutes!
    This week’s video is about ‘No Drama Discipline: The Whole-Brain Way to Calm the Chaos and Nurture Your Child's Developing Mind’ by Daniel J. Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson. This No Drama Discipline summary looks at the neuroscience behind a child’s brain to explain why positive parenting is so important, providing tips on how to discipline children positively.

    This was really good. Thank you. I think there should be one more step added to the end: rehearsal. I believe rehearsal of the more appropriate behavior/response that they identified with parent guidance increases the likelihood they will recall the more appropriate behavior next time the problem occurs. It is very repetitious though and our children neef our patience. Just as in a sport players practice plays over and over so that in a real game they can perform the plays, our children need the rehearsal; it is usually not "I taught them once so now they will do it."

    • @GrowwithAnnaB
      @GrowwithAnnaB  Před 3 lety

      Yes it takes a lot of repetition and practice for sure, I completely agree!

    Hi Ma'am 🤩My kid is three year old... She s too adamant these days. She cries for anything and everything. I try to control my anger n be patient . But out of nowhere i burst out with anger n start to tell at her. I feel guilty after doing that. After going to her nursery she is doing like this. She never wants to listen to me. I'm feeling helpless. I have to change myself for the betterment of me n her aswell... This video gives me confidence to change myself 🤩👍

    Thank you! I love your summaries so much! Like you said, with a kiddo, reading is the last thing I have time for. Question - did the book give examples of “how to connect”. My kiddo is preverbal, about 1.5 years. When he starts having big emotions it can be difficult to connect with him and he will turn away or push away. Sometimes I just leave him be (but still close by) and after a time he will come to me. But I’m not sure if I’m leaving him to deal with those big emotions by himself. I don’t want him to be insecurely attached from having to deal with emotions by himself. Ah!

    • @GrowwithAnnaB
      @GrowwithAnnaB  Před 3 lety +1

      In the book connection is simply described as either talking in a soothing voice or comforting. But what you are doing is absolutely perfect - beyond frameworks it’s important to attune to what our particular child needs. If he pushes you away don’t force a cuddle, just you calmly sitting next to him is all that is required until he expresses that emotion.
      I highly recommend you watch this video too to help you with this thinking czcams.com/video/Mej9FIQS_SI/video.html
