- Welcome back to my channel where every week I provide a parenting book summary (or self-development), specifically focusing on the best parenting books every parent should buy or read with positive parenting philosophy and ones that have made a positive difference in my life.
My goal is to help other busy parents get the tools and strategies they need to improve all relationships in their lives. Because let’s face it, reading parenting books is often at the bottom of our priority list when we are juggling so many things in our life!
This week’s video is about ‘How To Talk So Little Kids Will Listen: A Survival Guide to Life with Children 2-7’ by Joanna Faber & Julie King. It is a parenting book that provides practical communication tools and strategies on how to get kids to listen to us parents and do what we want them to do without tantrums. So if you have a toddler not listening to your instructions and you would like tips on surviving terrible threes and terrible twos, this is the video for you!

Wow what an amazing review.. i was thinking to buy and read this book. But honestly dont have that much time also to read this one.. just searched this book name on CZcams and saw your video on first place. I would like to know the summary of the book The whole brain child.
So glad you found me! I have already summarise The Whole Brain Child, you can find it on my channel.
Hi. Do you have a video on the importance of being little?
💐
I love the videos I’ve seen so far !! Thank you !! I’d love to know if you’ve reviewed Conscious Parents by Dr. Shafali ? Warm regards , Liz
So glad you are enjoying these videos. No I've never read her books but I did follow her for a while. I think what she is saying is good but it's an oversimplification and it goes too far in some instances. I do not believe 'everything is a lesson' and that kids always choose their parents. Just my 2 cents :)
I still want to read it so I can hear the examples
This was my first parenting bible.
Such a good book with lots of practical advice that really works
Hi It's Hanna Romriell
Is there a book you recommend that well help me with my 5 year old who keeps getting in trouble in class for talking when his not suppose to. And not listening. He was send to the principles office for the same problem and he admits to his actions but I don’t know how to go from there.
Is he only getting in trouble in class? Or do you have concerned at home as well? I don't see this as a major issue yet, it's his first year at school and he is struggling to adapt. Just keep discussing it with him. The fact he admits to his actions is amazing. I do recommend you watch my video on The Explosive Child. There is a great framework there on having a discussion with your child to get to the bottom of why he is acting this way. He might not know as he is only 5 and it might be impulsive but worth a try.
What if we apply the concepts and tools but the child still don't behave correctly? Is there another book you summarize that advise the next course of action? Thanks
Can you give an example of what issues you are having? How old is your child?
@@GrowwithAnnaB Thanks Anna. Your reply is very quick. My eight year old daughter have a hard time finishing her meals on time. I have done many things like changing the environment like making sure the meals are her favorite food, having a table clock on the dining table, took away phone, tablet distraction, making the food easier to eat with smaller churns, keeping meal time apart, asking her the solution to her slow eating etc. But she still end up taking more than 1 1/2 hours to eat. She likes to stand up, walk around and she chews very comprehensively and slowly.
@@skibiditoiletXDlol thanks for the detail. It sounds like a boundary issue to me and the solution would be that you give her 45min to eat and at the end of the time you need to take the plate away and hold that boundary (give her a few warnings before time is up). She will cry and protest but after a few times she will understand the boundary is firm. I recommend you watch my video summary of 'No Bad Kids'. I hope this helps!
Thanks Anna. I have a problem about my son. He’s 3 and 7 months years old. He’s hypo acting. Sometimes he’s pushing, kicking and screaming. Please Can you give me some information about this? Thanks
Hi Nayana, I feel you 3yo is a tough age. Have you watched my video summary of 'Your 3 Year Old'? Highly recommend you do as loads of tips in there. But ultimately it is usually a phase and we need to weather the storm. Try to pick your battles during this time and try to see if you can find specific triggers that keep reoccuring so you can minimise them. Hope this helps!
An example of managing the environment please?
An example could be if you don't want your toddler to touch something, make sure it's not within their grasp. Or if you have a toddler and a baby, ensuring they have 2 separate play spaces so that everybody is safe - eg having baby in a playpen where toddler isn't allowed to go.
@@GrowwithAnnaB oh nice thanks
Ye book Hindi m h ya English
Hello, Anna. Thank you for video. I'm curious. Are you russian?
My kids father is Russian. I am French 😄
@@GrowwithAnnaB Interesting. The reason i asked this is because i felt like you have slavic accent. Have you picked up his accent?:) Haha.
I don’t understand how praising will make them focus on weaknesses?
I agree with you. I've since changed my mind on this. I do believe parenting advice has gone too far and I've done a video on this a few weeks ago.
@@GrowwithAnnaB Okay 🥰it will make them focus on that compliment and want to emphasize it. I’v read about books for adults and it goes u can even fake a compliment about someone and they will wana live up to it. Oh you’re so generous. Oh you’re so respectful. You’re so smart. Even if they’re not, they will transition. 😍
