  • This week’s video discusses ‘The Explosive Child’ book summary written by Dr Ross Greene. It is a compassionate, insightful, and extremely practical book, based on research in neuroscience, providing a step-by-step framework for understanding and managing ‘behaviorally challenged’ kids or working with behaviorally challenged students at school - Ross Greene Collaborative Problem Solving framework (known as CPS).
The book provides a guide on how to collaboratively and proactively problem-solve with your child - 'Ross Greene Plan B' and 'Ross Greene Lagging Skills'. It’s extremely helpful if you have a child that has been officially diagnosed with ADHD or ODD for instance but it also provides clear steps on how to parent strong willed children and/or simply if you are trying to solve recurring issues you have encountered with your child like refusing to go to school in the morning for example. I have found that this framework is also amazing for teachers when teaching behaviorally challenged students so they can implement it in their classroom as issues arise.

I have this book as an audiobook and the first time I listened to it I didn’t get past track 5 because I was so upset about what I was hearing. Yes it’s COMPLETELY different then anything I’ve been told! Today when I started it agian it was a lot easier to understand. This is a really great summary!

Yes I can understand how it can trigger some cognitive dissonance... It’s so different from how we have seen children for a very long time and so different to the current school system viewpoint!

Thank you. Of the many vids with and about Dr. Greene and his work, I'm very happy that I started the journey here with you. Now I seem to be approaching a welcoming gate instead of hurling myself against a wall to try to find an entry point.

Loved watching this video today! Some really great points and definitely a book that I’d like to read...my daughter is actually quite calm, but I feel like the techniques are important regardless! I love the point about children problem solving and offering great solutions themselves! I already see Imogen doing this in day to day life, so it stands to reason that in times of frustration she could do the same, given the opportunity! Thank you Anna, I’ve really got something great out of this today!

Honestly the best thing I ever did was to start meditating - it's the one thing that helped me be able to pause before reacting with my kids. I have a video on that.
