I really enjoyed making this style of video!! I'm just using making videos as an excuse to get better at what I love. :)
If you want to set more musical challenges for me COMMENT BELOW!!
I love you from Syria, Is there any program to talk to you?
I liked this
Have you considered doing a David Bowie medley? As he cross-dressed and wore makeup it might not be quite as hard as you think - though maybe not on a treadmill!
Here is a idea I did during a rehearsal: Try singing your songs with facial expressions and gestures! (Without actually singing)
Gurl you're a freaking queen! I don't know if you've taken this into account or not for your shows, but altitude can be a factor that changes your breathing. Don't hurt yourself, but I liked this video and would like to see more!
yah singing and dancing is HARD
“*The goal here is to NOT DIE.*”
-Malinda 2020
'“*The goal here is to NOT DIE.*”
-Malinda 2020' - If we're being honest, that's true in most cases. It's just not as prevalent across the board. :)
Fundemetally, all your life goals are to not die
That comment seasoned well and still true for today with a total plot twist
I've always thought it was crazy how people managed to run and sing. I thought it looked hard. I was right.
I watched a vid of demi and she wa on the treadmil and hit like a Bb5 I was like "How in the world?" Loool
And even an old man like Bruce Dickinson is still running around and killing those belts. So it's all about the effort you put in that physical training.
Cage80 He’s been doing it for a very long time. His style is tough to emulate since it is operatic metal.
Anna Klum our dance teacher makes us run in circles whole singing before learning the choreo so we can get used to being tired
@@taoist32 That's true, and I understand that he's still doing fencing and stuff. So that also keeps him in shape.
"The goal is to not die."
Me every day
And keep it like that bro
Bonnie Graham *me everyday in pe*
Is it really though
yep, when i wake up, lol
Me: the goal is to not kill myself
I want to be like Brendon Urie, who can hit high notes and do backflips at the same time.
SamaK I don’t think even he can do that
Jess Rakhman the Ellen show performance of say amen
BlueViolets AreBlue I know. That’s what the clip was from. He’s not flipping and singing at the same time. Like I said, he can’t do that. I really don’t think anyone can
@@jrocker24 Yeah, he is
czcams.com/video/MeQafFIfLNc/video.html
SamaK I watched the video, and he did not actually sing while flipping BUT he did right after which is still just as impressive so yeah.
I did some running in high school and I couldn't figure out how my friends could even talk while running. They were having conversations and I was just trying to not die or look like an idiot.
Same here lol but then i got a hang of it because i had to talk while sprinting in soccer so i got used to it but nowwww, after almost 2 years i can’t do that anymore
It takes time! I couldn't do it for about 3 months
I used to do longish distance running in high school and that was true at first, but afer a year or so of running, my lung capacity and breathing adapted and I could do it at my normal pace. Point is, it takes a while.
I feel that- during these school fitness test I feel so weird 😂
You have got to run quite a lot to be able to do that actually.
“How does a treadmill work?” -Malinda 2020
I have the same question as her 🤣
Gracen Dew and i have easy
Actually treadmills don't work because they're unemployed.
I never realized that there is such a big difference between singing with and without movement, this was actually fascinating to watch!
It's hard to regulate your breathing while running.
Just try it yourself
Yeah I never thought about it!
I wasn’t aware of this until i was in my upper twenties. Once i realized it, it made me super skeptical of these performers actually dancing and singing. Brittney Spears admitting to lip syncing years ago dove tailed into my skepticism.
I sometimes try to jump while singing and it's SOOOO hard! Super much respect to idols that dance and sing at the same time!!🔥🤩 I wanna learn that too so I could sing while running🤗
I understand this completely! Being a dancer for 20 years and also musical theater for 5 years. Singing and dancing is terrible! If you haven't seen hairspray the musical (and live version you prefer) the hardest song and dance is "you cant stop the beat" from what I've had heard from musical theatre friends who have performed it. Malinda! Love you! Love that you gave this a go and it hope you continue to do it and make it a challenge for yourself, maybe. Any way! Thank you for being awesome
Erin Rose as a theatre kid, yes, i can confirm that singing and dancing at the same time is DIFFICULT
I did a version of We Go Together from Grease with full choreo and vocals and boy oh boy was it HARD TO DO. I didn’t even sing the entire time because it was so tiring.
I LAUGHED SO HARD WHEN YOU STARTED SINGING ‘RUNNING’. SINGING ‘RUNNING’ WHILE RUNNING ON A TREADMILL IS THE HEIGHT OF COMEDY
‘Thé goal is not to die’
How does she know what I write on my to do list every morning?
No, you can't have a name
"But they don't sing as they run do they"
Umm, 12 years of choir & 4 years of track, heck yeah I don't while I run!
*MALINDA* : I think that these guys are really inspiring and what they do must take years of work...
*Me* : Oh ok, so she's going to start a couple years of prac..
*MALINDA* : But we don't have those years, so we're doing it today!
This seems like a terrible idea, I like it.
@@prozierozie5692 lol!!😂😂
* starts doing that in like two months after starting to dance *
Hehe I ruined 666 likes
Me with literally everything.
The fact that she still smiles through all of this is amazing. What a natural performer! :)
"the goal here is to _not die_ "
I tried singing while running a mile the other day. I was seriously out of breath😂
The 100 profile pic?
@@Nebulas17 ?
Damn really lol? I wonder if these singers can talk and run like nothing lol
Jess Rodriguez Beyoncé can.
Jess Rodriguez in fact her dad and vocal coach made her run and sing at the same time.
I can’t wait to feel sad because I can’t sing at all!Anybody else feel the same?
Pretty much everyone is able to learn singing, some people do have better egde but practice beats it. I was really terrible singer but started to don't care about singing bad, and sang anyway, now i'm just terrible
przemko961 well that made me feel better thanks!
Yes! I am always sad that I didn't inherit the gift of singing. I'm not tone-deaf either, so I am well aware of how good it isn't. Lol.
I am not a great singer by ANY means, but I am a lot better than I used to be with some practice. I had a church choir director ask me to join the choir - I said no originally, but he kind of tested out my voice to see what notes I could match pitch with. He put me in the tenor section, the first person who didn't try to make me sing soprano or high alto (just because I'm a woman). That helped, a lot, as well as other notes he gave the choir as a whole. I am not in the choir anymore, but I have found watching some of the vocal coaches on CZcams breakdown what singers are doing with their voices and why has been a major help. I will probably seek out personal vocal coaching at some point when I want to focus on that. For now the CZcams vids are good.
You should check out people like Sam Johnson and his vocal coach reacts videos
Then make a joyful noise.
This is a great idea. It helps with breathing as well. My senior year of high school I had to walk home and listening/singing along to music actually helped with both my breathing on the walks home and on stage.
I only wish that you were mic’d up ... hard to hear your voice with the background noise. Cool test though! Thanks for taking us along on the experiment :)
(snicker) and load her up with a back pack battery and transmitter...
This could be a new thing; treadmill/speedy speed covers. Well done!
Yes, someone else remembers that!
@@Jono997 Like speed dating? We'll call it (drum roll) Speed Covers!
And then there's me, I don't even practice in my warm, comfortable room.
You in this video is how my life is like. Smiling/laughing but deep down your dying inside
Imagine you’re just going to the gym for your daily workout and you see
This
As someone who finds _breathing_ on a treadmill at increasing speeds challenging, you done good! I'm impressed! 😎
Huge effin respect to you, Malinda!
I'm trying the same on a bicycle, uphill, a challenge.
Malinda singing on a treadmill is still better than my regular singing 😂😂😂
Malinda snooring in her sleep would still be better than my regular singing.
We ran laps around our gym while training for show choir... tone really goes out the window fast
It seems that she too is going insane from the lack of a cave update.
@Sarah Catdog wait what about 1.16 I thought could be the cave update did I miss something?
Running, Don't Make Me, Fearless -- such perfect songs for this based on the titles alone!
We used to sing Jethro Tull songs while running cross country practice when I was in high school in the early 70s. For songs like Aqualung, we would also pantomime things like “greasy fingers smearing shabby clothes”. It was fun and eased the monotony of a long distance run.
You are a brave young lady to do this for public consumption, you are such a good sport. ❤️🏃♀️
I did running and singing in basic military training. Helped me to improve my singing voice later in life.
That was amazing! It is something ya audience members forget as you watch a performance. The physicality of performers makes sense haha
I feel ya. I used to sing while riding my bike.
Wow. I feel fearless is a good last song. You definitely are fearless doing this. I think it is amazing.
Well done.
"The goal here is to NOT DIE."
My goal this year while starting to work out. I felt that line touch my soul as she said it.
This was a really interesting experiment, I've been trying to use walking and singing (albeit badly) at the same time to increase my lung capacity because I get out of breath so incredibly easily. Good luck, I'm sure the shows will be amazing :)
this should be a progression series culminating into a rocky style montage as your tour launch video.
Malinda, you are such a wonderful person! Love your drive, your personality, your dreams and your voice! Your passion for life and happiness is pretty damn cool, too. You’re a breath of fresh air! Keep moving forward and being you!!! Hope you tour Louisiana some time!
Stay reinventing yourself!!! ❤️
The one person who disliked this is probaply Malinda herself
Well now it's 8...
8 Malindas🤷🏼♂️😄 (now 11...)
Actually singing and keeping a comfortable pace is the secret to running crazy miles. The singing helps you breathe deeper and the pace just keeps you going with the pace of the beat so you don’t slow down. Before you know it you’ll run for hours and not even realize it.
With all that deep breathing you’ll be doing your breath support will go up 100% and so will your vitality.
When her running sounds better than my normal singing
While she is also running faster than u
@@xetinc5356 yup
Your so talented, it's so hard to sing with such a strong voice while dancing, running, and even just walking around!! YAAAS QUEEN!!
Johnny's over there cracking up at 200bpm - now get him running along with you while playing and see who's laughing! (Okay, then the video would be all over the place because of the only person left to crack up.)
Dang! got MY heart rate up, and I'm just sitting here! Good job!
The line of songs going down the list on the cards is describing malindas experience: first fearless, then not the same, then running, and finally don’t make me
You may want to look into measuring your ventilatory threshold (VT), VT testing is based on the physiological principal of ventilation. During submaximal exercise, ventilation increases with tidal volume (volume of air inhaled and exhaled per breath). Because VT testing is heavily based on your breathing I'm sure it'll be quite helpful in achieving your goal.
P.S. (I'm not a fitness professional right now, but the info I gave you is from the textbook I'm studying to become one. )
H o w
This is fine
My self esteem isn't draining as we speak
I'm fine
Are you fine?
We're all fine
No but seriously what
Yes
15 seconds personal record
Malinda the supersonic singer
Yes girl!! I would love to see an update on your progress. We believe in you!
I might mention this to my singing teacher. Seems like a good way to train.
I feel your struggle so much! My jazz teacher/choreographer makes us run in circles while singing before we get the choreography so that we can get used to being out of breath and to help us learn breath control. It’s super hard! Great video by the way! You are awesome!!!!!!!!!
I love how raw this is
ok this is insane like what
Great work! And i love your creativity ❤️
Malinda you are my inspiration 🙂
I was really, really hoping "Don't make me" would be on here. That song is my favorite. And I'm so happy it was.
"Every runner out there is like 'insert that face she made'"
"But they don't sing as they run, do they?"
I'm a Cross Country runner and i sing as I run
I sound like a strangled, dying cat that is getting no air
But i do
It helps me keep my pace
Thank you SO much for this vid.
I'm currently going through a breakup and this really made me smile.
Considering I would have faceplanted at the SLOW speed (assuming I could even stand up at all) I think you did great!!
This is giving me flashbacks to Newsies at my highschool the amount of times I had to run and sing was crazy I'm just glad I was doing a costume change when the rest of the newsies were running in the audience singing two different halves of a patter bit in Carrying the Banner 😂
It was a great start. I an sure will improve and look forward to watching for updates. Always enjoy watching your videos.
I agree, just moving while singing is impossible
she’s so talented!
I love this
Three states of pain, emotion etc. Physically, Mentally, Emotionally, and now Vocally
“But we don’t have those years so we are going today!” “And preferably without dying”
I mean this in the most endearing, positive way possible: Malinda you are such an incredibly lovable dork! 💕😁
I know how hard it is to even think and talk straight under high pressure... nothing then respect for you :*
This was a cool idea! I didn't even think about how much control and fitness is required to balance singing and the control of that with the stamina and energy of dancing and moving on stage! Such a fun and educational video
i also typically use the elliptical! you're so amazing malinda!
DANG GIRL! Good for you!
Please come to the UK! I'd love to see you live 😁💕
Yet another creative first. Brilliant. A gluton for punishment just to delight our ears. I feel unworthy. Thank you.
I just adore that you're yourself and invite us to see you as yourself
"I'm prepping for my upcoming solo shows"
*oh, you sweet, naïve summer child*
You go girl!
Love this!
this is how I feel. I want to know I can if I wanted to! This is awesome. thank you for this video
52 seconds personal record. And I love it vids this one was rlly nice
This makes me love Sutton Foster even more
This was such a cool video concept, and you did so well! :D
I'm impressed! I can't even sing while sitting down - I need to have warmed up for at least 10 minutes and be standing completely still to get anywhere near a decent sound. The fact that you can hit notes while sprinting is quite a feat and a hell of a start towards your goal.
I went to see Cats a short while back (the musical, not the nightmare of a movie) and couldn't even begin to wrap my mind around how the performers were singing REALLY well while leaping around the stage pretty much non-stop for 2+ hours.
dont die you videos always make me smile
God Bless Malinda
I struggle to sing well and drive on a minorly bumpy road. There is no way I could do that while jogging, much less running!
I can neither sing nor run on a treadmill, so I am very impressed (and entertained!) Well done!
I love your work :)
This is going to be me next time I have a gym lesson... It'll be great! You did awesome 💓
Great video! Thanks for pointing out the skill involved. I feel even better about my theatre experience now: chorus in community theater has to dance and sing at the same time. Also, we have to sing loudly enough to be heard without mics!
Dont make me is literally like my fav song ever thank you malinda
Please do a collab with a broadway performer about breath control! I would love to watch that!
"The goal here is to not die."
Go Malinda!!!!! ❤️
Love how you had a good time even though it was a real challenge.
Now you have to do this with the guitarist running as well. LOL
if you want to train singing while moving around a lot, i would personally sing while doing sit ups or planks
it isnt really stamina, but its training the core and stability while singing which also affects singing while moving
You're so fun to watch!
Holy holly I gotta try this!
Me: *scrolls on my youtube feed on 12 am without a single clue *
Also me: *gets interested in the video and clicks it *
Malinda: *speaks *
Me: why am i watching this again
I'm a new sub and I am your biggest fan now!
