  • I've had this GTR less than a year and after having a few problems I decided to take the board apart and was horrified to find a completely unacceptable hack job of an electric skateboard disguised as a top quality work of art. Thanks Jeff.

    This is brutally on point! I say with a bamboo that's motor controller died not 6 weeks after purchase and when it died it slammed the brakes on. Got to love evolve for a good laugh. At least they're pricing what loyal customers they have left away now.

    I cooked a bamboo GT after about 2000 miles, put about 3500 on it before a full gut & rebuild. It had 1500 miles of the weirdest and most dangerous failures, a friend bought the GTR and it was doing bad stuff from day one. Odd drops, throttle stuck open, lock up & release for no reason, drops at full throttle - not to mention that heinous remote.
    Couldn't hammer on the GTR like I'd done with the GT, because it was not built for riders like me. It was built for hype and marketing. It was built for influencers to tear up protected lands at national parks.
    With the new ESC and remote on the GT, it simply shuts off and rolls if I tank the battery. No launching if I bail, no running away because it lost connection. Weird, right?

    @jonahmcbride-de2gb Před 10 měsíci +1

    Evolve claims to be above everyone around them in the eSk8 community and evolve boards are truly built to break. Remotes too.
    I have ridden motocross most of my life and I have only had to go to the er once for a head injury, and that was while going maybe 4 or 5 mph and the board stopped like it hit a wall. No reason (except for the exceptional horrible craftsmanship. I paid over $2,000 for a board that I rode less than a week.
    I later researched myself, bought a board from China as much as I try avoiding that. The most expensive piece that may have to be replaced (except the battery, which is great, hot swappable, and cost $300) is the esc. It cost $150. I’ve ridden this Chinese board for almost 1,000 miles, rode it in pouring rain once, and it is still going.
    Evolve. What’s the average cost of a fairly common piece that may/will absolutely 100% have to be changed? How much is a new battery?
    The good thing is everyone knows this about evolve, and I am happy to say I literally see ZERO EVOLVE BOARDS when riding with friends now. They got a board with more power, more range, better built, and cheaper than evolve, but a lot is because we all start the answer to “what kind of board should I get?” With Anything except evolve!!!
    You guys suck so bad evolve.

    • @SemperShock
      @SemperShock Před měsícem

      Hey! Can you tell me where you bought that Chinese board from? Website or Link please? I have my carbon fiber GT and was riding to my truck after work & it was drizzling and my board took me to my truck but never turned on after that. I had it for 8 months, and nothing at evolve is cheap if you want to order a replacement battery or motherboard. Matters as well just buy another one, but would like to get one where you purchased yours at? Sounds like quality craftsmanship & at an affordable price.

    Do you have a recommendation for better quality eboards? I have a feeling my exway x1 max was also specifically designed to be a piece of junk. Much like apple they're hard to maintain without the manufacturers help so if they're trash and purposely malfunctioning then ill need to get a new one

    Not disagreeing with this review or the quality concerns but as a point of data, i have had 2 of the GT Bamboo boards for 7 years. Only had a one issue when i drained the battary to zero and it supermaned me. Still bullshit but i never had a problem again because i dont ride it to absolute zero charge after that. Both of them were purchased used and ive put about 300 miles on them each year. I still think they are too expensive and other options are much better but all in all mine have done me well and i ride them hard and fast.

    Nice shop there! How many miles did you ride that board? Judging by tires that looks like a lot! Did you use other sets of tires too? off road?
    I have ridden my GT Bamboo for 5 years.. I bought it 2nd hand, low hours, I am 6'4" 230 lbs, battery just started giving out last year.. I used it for light duty filming.. traveling around.. Vacations,
    but not for daily Transportation or heavy use.. You can buy these on ebay in decent condition.. for fairly reasonable... I could not really expect that I could use a as commuter or high milage & in the rain for that price? I suppose someone could upgrade or DYI for a better product.. A lot of work & research to do it though..

      That's easy, DIY. And before you say, if DIY isn't for everyone, that's no worries, got you covered! Take the yen you would be spending on evolve and you evolve towards a reputable custom builder. You and they can pick quality parts, you could do the QC but they'd be on that if you weren't doing anything, at least get tried and tested parts. That's the least you can do and there's some amazing designers out there. Why risk evolves lethal motor controllers when you could that or do it yourself cheaper. But if you want to spend the money there's people out there that don't r*** their clients like the media mop head Mr China Boards, (what a waste of hair Matty Rogers is) and his buddy Jeff at evolve.

      Nope they are just real pieces of trash..... The boards themselves are great but its just that the electronics are 100% made to break which really makes HATE Evolve. They absolutely did this on purpose considering most of the boards have tons of problems just like you are experiencing right now. For years they have put on an illusion of doing a bunch of R&D to give us a real high quality machine but then backstabbed everyone with a serious POS from Chyna! Screw them. You probably need to just retro fit new Focbox Tenka and a better battery

    Sadly, I have to agree. I absolutely LOVED my gtx bamboo and paid a premium price.
    First, there were remote connectivity issues...so I upgraded to the R2 (more $$) and then
    the regular drop out of one motor not working. To diagnose the issue, I had to open up the
    board and what a nightmare...what stupid, sloppy, cheap electrical assembly I found.
    Shame on you Evolve!! It was clear these guys are not interested in QUALITY. The whole
    aim was profit and maximizing buck$. The specs on this board are awesome and when it
    runs, life is sweet. But the crap design and crap quality control ensure the good times don't
    last long. I feel like I've been made a sucker and I resent it deeply. These boards are TOO expensive!!!
    We are being manipulated by greedy, dollar hungry extortionists. If they really put out high quality
    products we wouldn't care too much about price but the garbage they sold me!!!...your name is
    everything in business and as far as I'm concerned Evolve has put their reputation in the crapper.
    I'm no engineer or electrical genius but I could have told you to make take off acceleration smoother in the
    first controllers you put out...and now you have. Who are the morons in your design department or was it
    a deliberate marketing ploy to encourage upgrade and spend more $$$$. SHAME on you Evolve...SHAME!!
