    I purchased this battery and couldn't be happier. Installation was a piece of cake but more importantly, there is basically no sag (minor sag, when pushing up steep hills but this is to be expected). I cant believe the difference, words cannot describe how much better my evolve bamboo GT board is now. This is must and will be one of the best upgrades you can do. Highly recommend Marsen batteries. As far as range goes, I'm running 120mm foamies and get between 40 to 50km, insane right. If you're contemplating whether to do this, you absolutely should.

    Good video. Thanks for making it Mark - made the job straightforward, and having the wago connectors there ready to join the wires made the job easy. This new 36V 12.6Ah battery for my Evolve Bamboo GTX absolutely eats the hills! NOTE: I suspect this video is a bit old, and Marsen have improved the 36V 12.6Ah battery pack they currently sell, and it is consequently thicker, but not as wide as the one shown in this video. I therefore also needed to buy the additional riser plate so it fits - the riser makes for a nice snug fit for the enclosure against the riser, against the board, but I did have to pack out a bit inside the enclosure as the riser plate allowed for too much space, thickness wise. PLUS, because the battery packs Marsen currently sell are not as wide as the one shown in the video, I did not need to grind back the screw posts at all - in fact I had to pack out around the battery to make it a snug fit between the screw posts! Also note that the video doesn't show what to do with the thermocouple wire - as raised by "Sawbin10" and answered by Marsen below, you just "either tape it to the battery or push it in under the shrink wrap". I also noticed in this video (~8:45) that Mark has to cut, strip and crimp to join the red "charging lead", but note that the battery supplied to me already had a wago connector there ready to go, so I just stripped the red charge wire and plugged it in to the wago. Refer to: marsen.com.au/products/battery-packs/marsen-energy-36v-12-6ah-high-power-bgtbgtx-skateboard-battery/ Hope that these comments help any new buyers! Highly recommend! Cheers!😁

    Hi
    thank you for the explaining the connection procedure
    which battery did you use 10s4p? and can you give more specs on the which battery cell did you use. mah ? and what is the discharge current rate?
    how many kms will the board run after the replacement ?

    • @marsen7542
      @marsen7542  Před 5 lety +4

      Hi Viraj, This is a 10S4P battery made with Samsung 30Q cells. Discharge rating is 60 amps continuous with peak discharge about 80 amps. Range with this battery will vary depending on rider weight, type of terrain and wheel choice. I have had customers report back over 40km with AT wheels and 50km with street wheels.

    hi after fitting the new battery do you have to use a spacer for the underside to make up the extra space or can you put it straight back in the original position.
    Thanks

    • @marsen7542
      @marsen7542  Před 4 lety

      The battery is slightly wider and thicker so yes a spacer is required. Alternatively you can rout the deck similar to the GTX deck to get it to fit.

    Do you know the specifications of the Evolve GT BMS? i've been trying to look for the detail specification of just that BMS, but couldn't find any...

    • @marksenft6322
      @marksenft6322 Před 4 lety +1

      I did have it somewhere as a full spec sheet from the manufacture. From memory the charge max amps is 6A and the discharge is 24A continuous. You can check this against the MOSFET datasheet if you look up the number. At 36V they are rated to 6A each with 4 discharge and 1 charge. Balancing is about 45mA and all the other parameters are pretty standard ie 4.25v for balance cut in.

    Do you need any spacer to make the battery fit

    • @marsen7542
      @marsen7542  Před 4 lety

      Options are routing the deck or fitting a spacer. The battery is bigger physically as well as electrically so needs some sort of modification to get it to fit the Bamboo boards.

    • @lindseysenft6786
      @lindseysenft6786 Před rokem

      Typically a Li-ion cell will give you 500 recharges before dropping to 70% of intial capacity. This is using it from 100% to 0%. If you recharge when it gets to 20% most times then the number of recharges increases. The electronics in the Evolve board cut off the battery at 31V so this is already 10-15% of the max capacity of the battery left in it when your remote indicates 0%. Using Molicel cells you also get more than the 500 recharges as they are an improved chemistry over most other brands. Expect a minimum of 500 recharges (heavy use of board) up to 1000 (light use)

    • @marsen7542
      @marsen7542  Před 4 lety

      A battery fault can occur with any board, all it takes is one cell to fail then it will effect the rest sometimes only slightly other times enough to cause the battery management system to switch the board off. Not good if doing high speeds. I prefer a system with a charge only BMS to reduce the risk of board shutdown. This may cause damage to the battery but that's a better option than damaging you.

      The batteries are upgrades to the original with premium quality cells. We can build a smaller battery with 10.4Ah capacity for the CGT. These are still superior to the original 10Ah battery as they are built with high power cells. They are AU$590 and only available to Australian customers.

    • @marsen7542
      @marsen7542  Před 4 lety +3

      The esc controls the current and voltage to the motors not the battery. Having a bigger battery means going for longer. There is a risk however that you will overheat the board by riding harder for longer. When electronics are continuously pushed to their limits their life is shortened. The Evolve boards are great but do have limitations so I always recommend self control when upgrading the battery.
