this is why when we remember the sounds and smells of the 90s/early 2000s its like a calmer atmosphere
Watching the beginning of this video, knowing my screentime has been 11-14 hours a day for weeks, really made me consider a screen cleanse
Mkay so I already failed
Trying again 👍 3/26 11: 26
Going well ? @@megannnB
Whattt that’s like 2 weeks out of a month on a screen 😟
We all need trying screen decreasing 😊😢
Omg I'm not the only one with 14 hours screentime 😭
YOU ARE GROWING UP!!! Ugh it's amazing to see the growth you've made since 2017 when I first found you on CZcams. I feel like a proud sibling.
Doom scrolling became really bad for me during the pandemic and election stuff that I had to cut it out, especially twitter. There's so much bad stuff going on in the world, and you want to stay connected, but too much can really take a toll on your mental health.
exactly, i dont follow the US election stuff
although funny i only hear the argue side of it daily
@dancearoundtheworld5360 that's pretty much all it is. It's seriously exhausting seeing it all the time.
@@aalyhaross6573 yeah boring fuller news and never people making a great impact
Dodging the news and trying to find positive or heart warming content also equals doom scrolling
@@brbapappa it does for some but projects need to be finished
A follow-up on this will be nice. What happens in subsequent weeks when life gets in the way and others are working, travelling etc. What do you do then to pass the time?
find hobbies, read, go outside. what did young people do in the 90s?
@@maneskinnnnn7190 I was a kid in the 90s. I don't expect what I did as a kid can be directly replicated as an adult
Taz, I am glad you decided to do this. Screen time is such a depressant whether we realize it or not. Our minds were not designed to live in this kind of world. More time in nature and less time on your phone can have a huge impact on mental health, as you've experienced yourself. Keep it up. :)
Ok hear me out, I personally don't count music apps, navigation apps, workout/wellness apps and movies/shows/podcasts apps (just because it's easier for me to see them on my phone so I don't use it while I'm watching a movie and I don't even watch any that often) as screen time, and if I did read on my phone I wouldn't count it as screen time either. Any other apps I do consider them as just using my phone.
Your phone can also be a tool for you if you use it as such, like how I use it to get my workouts or track my period and such, and u can't deny that music is medicine for the soul. So if you're gonna keep up with lowering your screen time, keep in mind that phones are not that bad, it's just how we let ourselves be absorbed by them.
I need to try this… I remember that I was such a happy kid and as soon as I got my first laptop and phone, my happiness started dwindling 😢 being present is so important ✨
I love tazz and I am so glad I have come back to watch CZcams again because tazz helped me through a lot of times in my life it was relieving to know that someone else can have anxiety and get through it and I will always be grateful for her x
We are escaping so much instead of facing our own emotions and feeling in this society, I'm glad you are speaking about it ! Healing starts by feeling
My husband and I started playing a board game every night. It is so nice to have that interaction, and I am sleeping so much better without the hours of screen time before bed.
Ooooh I’d love to try this!
you are always so honest and vulnerable with us, thank you :)
The most efficient way for me was not to go cold turkey but to have my bedroom as a no phone zone. I read when I'm in bed, either in the evening or in the morning. Even though I have ADHD and can't stick to routines very much, I am holding on to this one rule and it helped soo much with my sleep and mornings. Can recommend😊
I NEEDED this video SO MUCH!
This is so inspiring, thank you!
4:14 - It's not just a distraction, it actually CHANGES YOUR BRAIN. New synapses are created; it's not a habit now, it's a physical difference. Don't know how long it takes to create, and don't know if it can be undone. So glad you're sharing your experiences and thoughts on this topic - as an older person, I've learned that bonding with people, helping people, is... everything.
We had a talk about this at work actually and it can be undone. Just to add a positive note!
I love your videos Taz! They have such a good influence on my life :)
Taz I love that your videos are so real and that you aren't afraid to show the unglamorous stuff. It is a breath of fresh air after watching other influencers' videos that seem very contrived. There is a place for both of course, and personally I like your style best 😊.
you are such an inspiration and a positive energy on here, also must say you are an excellent writer!!
Taz, inspiring and eye opening video, makes you realise how much time we spend on our phones!
Love that you are still good friends w/Cookie she has such a beautiful soul!!!
I'm chronically ill and that has contributed to me being chronically online. I kinda hate it, but I also see it as my connection to the outside world. I spend most of my time at home all alone. I'm not able to leave the house often to see other people and do activities. I do have multiple hobbies I can do at home (crochet, reading, gaming, watching tv), but I often don't have to energy for those things. So I end up spending a lot of time laying know and scrolling through short form content because it's easy on my brain. I wish I would be able to do my hobbies more tho.
I feel you. I have a foot injury and for a period of time I could barely walk, now I'm overweight, unhealthy, stressed and living a life I don't want to. I still have the injury but I'm a bit more mobile but this week I'm gunna see how far I can get myself walking, look after my diet and try to find some good hobbies to do at home and out. I'm tired of feeling mentally and physically fucked. I'm also thinking of going part-time with my job, I'm a charity fundraiser and I'm really struggling with burnout and being a job so focused on talking about money. Yes it's a good thing to do but it's stressful trying to hit targets and please everyone. I kinda wish I never left my basic Tesco job! I only took this one because I sit down and lessens the injury but that's also causing my health to deteriorate...feeling trapped
Lots of love taz!!
Thanks for raising awareness about this, it's so fcking true-- at least for me. A great reminder to pay attention to this!!
I loved this and I love you! Well done and thank you. Its been awhile since I've watched you x
Currently having the same problem and need to do something about it! This came at the perfect time. TYSM❤
if u get overwhelmed by being outside without headphones u CAN have your headphones just be there for comfort without consuming anything -media/songs- (like for when you’re on the bus lol)..
I need friends like you totally on the same wavelength thank you for sharing your journey
Hey taz I love your videos❤
I struggled a lot with overthinking and anxiety especialley during the nighttimes.
What really helped me is meditation. Its hard doing it the first few times. But after that you will see a huge difference.
This is me with prayer and reading my Bible. It's amazing how helpful a mental reset can be for your day to day life.
I have so much to, tidying up, decorating, gardening. I really should heed this tip and get off my phone and tablet 👍
My best tip for doing things productively yet having some form of distraction eg. cooking, cleaning, and falling asleep at night has been PODCASTS. oh my gosh, the impact podcasts have had on my life, just someone talking in the background has truly been helping me get off socials! Love your videos Taz xx
You are a beautiful genuine woman love you're video's the world needs more genuine big hearted people lole you taz love you're channel
Thank you for your always inspiring videos 🫂
Hey taz! We really appreciate you taking time out of your day to give us amazing content and we want you to never forget that! 💗✨
I put my phone on airplane mode at night and it seems to work, also putting it on the other side of the room helps
love the video.u had alot of screen time. great idea to cut down. love you taz
Liking this new type of content taz :)
I haven't watched you in such a long time and it is so beautiful to see how far you have come!! Try to get some blue light reflecting spectacles for when you are editing or using your laptop
I have come back today as well ❤
I need to try this too. I always feeling anxious and mentally exhausted.
this made me realize that I need to get off my phone. I will do that now and enjoy life outside of my phone more! thank you taz.
i loved this experience Taz i’m going to do mines again soon 😍
Another great video Taz
love your videos sm
7:26 sooo wholesome 🥹
liking before watching the video because taz never makes bad content
Every now and then I feel the same, like I spent to much time on my phone. This video is a new reminder for me to have a look at it! Time to delete some of my apps 😅
this is crazy cos i jsut deleted the tiktok app yesterday because it was affecting my sleep schedule and making my body go to bed at 5am because I would be on tiktok
Me too!! It's been a week for me with no insta or tiktok
I’ve been off for almost 2 months now 🙌🏻 no more drama, comparing myself or impulsive buying. Win win win
i love the energy this video radiates!! and you looking up your screentime made me look up mine too. and guess what? it's only 8:40 pm here and my screen time is already 9 plus hours 😅 as a person that is chronically online, I want to do this challenge as well hihuz
ILYY TAZZZZZ
The facts that you put this video together and communicated so clearly is astonishing on it's own. You really are a fantastic artist.
I LOVE U TAZ
Loved the video as always! Huge fan of the indigo pants at 8:06 - does anyone know where they’re from?
Jay is such a wholesome person. Always so nice and calm kinda vibe.
You can bring a book everywhere while going out to avoid getting bored 😊
whenever I have to wait for an appointment, I either watch a show (my waiting show just for these occasions 😂) or I read a book. in my normal day to day life I don't have much time to read, but I always use this waiting times for it. 😊
Heyy lol i luv ur vids u slay taz
I'm awful for my phone, timers have helped a lot. Start easy and then work it down to 10 minutes for each app you use the most. Works for me 😊
I LOVE YOUR BRIMFIELD MA SHIRT!!!
What I will take away "if you see food you gotta eat it."
No but seriously super inspiration 🙌 thank you
okay pause 😅
jay’s adorable!!
I think I need to try this too.
Are you gonna continue this? It looked like you really enjoyed it 😊
Her hair is EVERYTHING
Spending a few day out in nature camping is probably the fastest way to reset. Definitely worth trying.
I try to go camping twice a year as a digital detox of sorts
I have the same problem: I tend to think so much sometimes that I need to break this train of thought. And yes, during the day house chores or other work stuff, do help. But at night, it's harder. That's why I try to watch CZcams at least. Sometimes you can just listen to it as an audiobook or watch something useful/smart/resourceful.
I wanna cut down my screen time and stuff, it would probably help if I had friends and a city to explore like you do lol. I have to drive everywhere here and it sucks.
Such a good idea
Instagram will be the death of me. Spend 5 hours on it yesterday. I could’ve read an entire book. 😭
i quit it years ago, would rather do the things i looked at
@@dancearoundtheworld5360 can’t really do 99% of the things you see people doing on Instagram. If people could do the things they see on Insta, we’d all be doing them.
Please do this challenge for the whole month!!!!
I wonder how well this would work for someone with a chronic illness resulting in low energy (can't go out often) and who doesn't have friends they can see often. I see this and think it would improve my mental state but I feel like I would be depressed and bored instead of just depressed xD I am happy for you and anyone else this works for though.
it would probably be more challenging because of the difference in circumstances yet i'm convinced it would/could improve the relationship with oneself :) like 'learning' to be alone but still be content since you don't necessarily need others to be happy - but i still wonder the same as you do
came across this video randomly and felt quite confronted by it. being to much on CZcams.. now Im ready to try this
Just last night I was watching videos on this topic. Today wasn’t a good start, but we try again tomorrow ✨
You got this!
Our girl's all grown up
For safety reasons alone, PLEASE do not wear the headphones all the time.
One thing I struggle with is that any time you leave the house, almost every available activity requires spending money. I want to go out and do things, but why does that mean I have to buy something or pay for parking or entry every single time?
Omg where did you get your sofa from? It’s lovely. Great it can turn into a sofa bed!
Argos, I think
My problem with ADHD (without medication) is that I would have a phase like that when I don't scroll on my phone. I sleep better and everything is better and then I will pick up my phone and everything will be ruined again and I become depressed and then I use my phone more and more , so I do sth good and then I don't continue it
Taz, there is a John Lennon song called Cold Turkey.
Love this video! I am guilty of doom scrolling - especially when it comes to TikTok >.< [p.s. I tried clicking the link for your merch.. but the link didn't work :( ]
@click4taz please can you tell Mr where you got the bowls (08:30) from I need them in my life xx
I need to do this but it will be hard because it’s an addiction now but I shall try and do it one day😅
What brand headphones do you use?
I only have tik tok and CZcams. Everything else I have no time for, it's all very toxic xx
relatable
This is so true. Doom scroll. I have a cap at 20 mins and 40 mins. But I’d still watch it around 1 1/2 hours roughly per day 😢😅
Best alternatives to tiktok: music and ebooks. Calmer than short form video.
For the eye burn thats caused by looking at screens, just put two thick slices of cucumber ( better if the cucumber is from the fridge) on your eyes and tie a thin cloth around your head covering the cucumber ( this is for the cucumber to not fall or slip) and let it rest for half an hour. Love you ❤. I'm glad my friend showed your videos.
Hey Taz you should try fasting for Ramadan for like a day/week!
Screen Zen is a good way to hide the apps on your phone
I don’t think my screen time is TOO high. Maybe 4 hours if it’s not a bad day, but I had o turn off the screen time tracker bc every time I got distracted on my phone I’d see my screen time and feel so guilty and upset. I still catch myself doing the same thi)f by checking my search or messaging history, but I think not checking has been helpful for me to focus on the intentionality of my phone usage as opposed to the numbers
Would you be able to do it consistently as a way of life, rather than as a challenge to turn into a video?
Omg what's the recipe for the curry at 5:56? It looks so delicious!
trying this thing out...
99.99% of the time I don't know where my phone is, most likely in my jacket pocket and with a dead battery, much to the chagrin of my sister (who is almost 50) who thinks I have to be available to her whenever she decides to call.
Same! I don’t even own a phone. I actually have one on loan from my kind brother which I take if I go out,…just incase. I had one and it lasted for ten years, but it died last year and I’m still saving up to replace it. Kitchen flood, boiler repairs etc keep getting in the way. Phone can’t be a priority. Thanks be to my brother. I don’t have anyone in my life who attempts to ring me though.
proud to say i’ve been watching you since “i tried to get free stuff online”
The best and worst thing I ever did was download TikTok during the pandemic. Some days I scroll for hours it’s bad
I deleted everything...except youtube..im addicted to it 😅😂
Beautiful 😍 ❤
What camera do you use ❤
Most of time I’m outside with my headphones on, I’m actually not listening to anything 😆
What really helps me during the night time when I have so many thoughts and feelings is overloading my workmemory. My therapist actually said that this was a good idea. Basicly you are going to think of too many things at the same time, but they're far from you. For example counting and trying to name all the words you know that start with an s. Every time your thoughts shift towards the things you were thinking about before you redirect them back to the counting and naming words. Your workmemory has too much to do that it stops the things you're not focussing on and then you can fall asleep. This works really well for me when I am overthinking in the night. Hope it helps for someone else as well
