The Truth of Celestial Tiamut in MCU Eternals

- Who was the Celestial Tiamut from the movie Eternals? Well, the MCU did tweak a little bit on what he was, Arishem told the eternals that this was a new Celestial being born inside the Earth and that he needed to feed off of sentience orintelligence to be ready to emerge into the wider Universe.
IN the MCU, A Celestial seed was sent to the planet Earth millions of years ago, as directed by the Celestial Arishem. The seed fell like a meteor into the earth, burrowing deep into its core to rest. It would take a lot of energy from sentient lifeforms for it to grow, as with all Celestial births. The rising Celestial known as Tiamut would start to grow off of the energy of the primitive human race that inhabited its host planet, but the energy was insufficient to grow the Celestial due to the species' primitive status. The planet was also infested with Deviants, which made conditions worse. Arishem dispatched 10 Eternals to Earth in order to exterminate the Deviants and assure humanity's evolution and the birth of Tiamut.
But is this really true or just a piece of the information given by Arishem to the eternals in order to hide the true form and true nature of a celestial that even Galactus feared. Yes, this was one of the few beings in the Marvel Universe that brought fear into Galactus’ eyes, the same devourer of worlds, the one and only survivor of a previous universe. Imagine the power and status Tiamut really had in order to make the world eater feel fear. But this wasn’t what was shown in the MCU as it could have repercussions in the entire story telling of the cinematic universe, this was a being that even the Watcher, the same one from the What if series, couldn’t see him when he awoke.
In the comics, Deviants were the dominant force on Earth, and Tiamut the Dreaming Celestial was ready to call the Horde, another collective of beings meant to harvest planets. However, Arishem cancelled that order, and had many of the Deviants killed. The Dreaming Celestial deemed Arishem to be malfunctioning and tried to assume command by attacking Arishem. The Dreaming Celestial then found himself attacked by all the other Celestials, cause it took their combined might to subdue him, and he was imprisoned underneath the mountains. The other Celestials ripped his spirit from his body and placed in a device known as "The Vial," They then sealed the Dreaming Celestial's body in a vault under the Diablo Mountains in California and For millennia, the Celestial slept.
The Dreaming Celestial, he was one of the most powerful Celestials, once classified as Tiamut the Communicator with the function to alert the Fulcrum, a being who is essentially the creator god of the Marvel Universe, he was tasked to alert him of the findings of the Celestials during planetary examinations and send a signal to the Horde, and to collect the planet's aggregate life force to be transmitted to the Fulcrum once completed. In the end, when he awoke from his slumber, he decided to spare the earth against the will of the Fulcrum and so with this, he became the only celestial to break free of his programmed tasks and purpose and join the fulcrum as a companion to oversee and design the universe. - Zábava
Tiamut fell in love with humans as he observes it through million of years. He believes that it's kinda selfish to sacrifice billions of innocent lives for just a single celestial birth. That's why he helped the Eternals do the Uni-Mind successfully.
You are insane, in the comics Tiamut is wicked and uses the human intelligence he absorbed for his own sinister purpose s
@@MrRop-yp3wt MCU is different from the comics. MJ isn’t Mar Jane, Peter’s best friend isn’t Harry, Peter also doesn’t really care much about Uncle Ben anymore. Wouldn’t take much to humanise Tiamut. Besides, he joined in the Unimind. He saw how Earth had much potential because the planet hosted the final battle between the Avengers and Thanos’s army. He also saw that 3 separate infinity stones have been to earth prior to Thanos’s arrival.

in the movie and i doubt earth-x ... in earth-x galactus consumed worlds invested with celestial eggs it's never been specified if the eggs are from the females. yes, in the comics there are female celestials, prior to that ass hole reboot they did.
It would be very interesting to see Tiamut come back to defend Earth from Arishem when he comes back for judgement or Galactus or other Celestials. In in the comics when asked why he defends Earth Tiamut said "I think...I care." Tiamut is always considered unique among the Celestials even by the Living Tribunal who considered him somewhat of a friend. I'd love to see a movie with Tiamut as the protagonist.
Galactus did take on 4 Celestials at once and DID kill one before the other 3 combined and beat him down Voltron style.

I found this when I did a search for images of Celestials without their armor, and since I watched Eternals yesterday I was stoked to find this background! I love reading or watching videos that go into the backstory of the comics vs. the MCU. I collected the cards as a kid but never had many comic books so much of my knowledge comes from Wikipedia recaps and the MCU itself, so I'm super thankful for content like this! I just subscribed and I'm excited to see more. :) rock on!

I saw a spoiler in eternals where sersi is saying that" it was because of tiamut that they perform the uni-mind even if they are not complete set of ten" (im paraphrasing) ...hehehe
It's explained in that scene that when the celestial emerges the Eternals connect with it thus stopping them from being destroyed by effectively having the power of the Celestial, so it's not that Tiamut helped them its more that in the instance of being connected to unlimited celestial energy they could complete their plan. That or he allowed them to use his power and sacrifice himself due to their feelings for humans as others have said and is loosely in line with the comic version.

Great video man! I am excited to see more of the celestials!
It surprises me that Dr. Strange, or Nick Fury, never noticed this kind of heavy event going on
Yup
Is this ever explained anywhere? This is the biggest plot hole in the MCU imo, it completely breaks my immersion.
What if Tiamut is actually sleeping now? I know that was their initial plan and they changed it to destroy him and that is what apparently ended up happening, but he is still there like a statue sleeping, just like in the comics.

I think the theory on the video is the path disney is taking on this.. Sersi on the movie sorta implied that Tiamut connected to them, not by force but he submitted, and that the power they had on the unimind was from Tiamut as well. So in a sense, you can see how tiamut sorta decided that earth's special, like how it was mentioned on the vid. The concepts of right and wrong can not be measured to the same extent when describing Celestials. They are the Creator Gods. It is in their right to create and destroy as they see fit. There is no malevolence behind their process of thought, only logic.

Celestials are like my favourite beings in the mcu and they just keep killing them by the end of a movie. Tiamat was not done justice because he was the only celestial that cared for humans on a deeper level and the reason he sacrificed himself. It’s so frustrating that mcu just keeps killing these guys off.
He’s just sleeping
@@e3ng682 no they literally killed him, Sersi changed him into stone
@@friedrice7876 Nope, Tiamut joined the unimind and felt the Eternals love for humanity and became fond of humanity. So he allowed Sersi to make him sleep again. Sersi explained that, Arishem did say “You chose to sacrifice a celestial” but doesn’t mean he’s dead. He is the dreaming celestial who is rebellious against the celestials. Plus they only turned his top layer of skin into marble. They would need more power than that, Tiamut is just sleeping for now.
*There are only 2 dead Celestials so far. Knowhere and (presumably) Tiamut.*
I dont think Ego counts as one as he's way too different from these giant robot-esque gods. He may be overestating himself, after all his name is EGO.

Galactus will be a rogue celestial and this movie set that premise. Tiamat helped the Eternals … that was the set up for knowing that Celestials aren’t all on the same page. Galactus will likely feed on planets that host celestial birthplaces. That means Galactus may come to earth to “devour” Tiamut.
Galactus isn't a Celestial, he's a cosmic being from a different universe go read his origin story he was even a man before he became as he is.
He's guessing that Galactus will be a celestial in the MCU. That isn't farfetched. They may simplify it so they don't have to explain another gigantic world threatening humanoid.

This movie is just setting up Marvel's other phase of movies.. I believe it only serves as a explanation to the events of bringing in other characters such as the X-Men and the others.. To me Marvel is smart for this.. It was no other way seeing that they probably thought that they would never get the rights of those characters back when they started this until 2 years ago.. They can do so much more now! But damn, I wish they could revisit this with a better story..

I think the MCU will follow the storyline based on comics. May be arishem lied to the eternals about the birth of tiamut. All the celestials combined must have defeated tiamut and put him to sleep for confronting with arishem, may be thats how arishem got the deep wounds in his armour or body as depicted in the movies

Wait. When Thanos snapped at Infinity War, he destroyed half of the population to delay the emergence of Tiamut because a celestial needs energy that we as humans produce and give out.
