..a treasure trove because before they came out a lot of books people didn't want to validate...for example the book of Enoch they said was written after Jesus was born but it turns out they found a copy in the dead sea scrolls dated back to 400 years before he was around...well they found a fragment of a copy, not the text in full...you are talking about the Emunah Elis...the Sumerian historical account as well as the Babylonian and Akkadian
I read this arc a few years afo. I think when Kirby died I wanted to check out his stuff. Even though this was Gaiman, still JK’s creation. Pretty nuts stuff. One day I’ll get around to jacks actual original story
Interesting how in the movie (spoiler alert), Tiamut actually helped the eternals win. Perhaps proof that not every celestial is on board with Arishems methods. This is further exemplified in the end credits scene as Starfox is in contact with a celestial who seems to be an ally.
Tiamat would wipe the floor with all 4 of earths celestial invluding arishems

Is anyone else familiar with the idea that a celestial is a giant unimind of an entire planets population in a suit of armor? This makes Mangog, The Stranger and even Onslaught also celestials of sorts. They are all beings made from the combined essence of many beings.

The Celestials are energy in armor according to Gaiman's story, essentially robots in the service of a greater being called The Fulcrum -a being who just might be a "lesser" aspect of The One Above All.
@@007Thanos007 Then later this was retconned to being the creations of the first firmament, but maybe they are both aspects of the same being. There are lots of theories about what exactly they are, not all of which are entirely consistent even in canon material.

I used to be a loud and proud Marvel Zombie, but I haven't been a regular reader since about 2015 or so, whenever the second Secret Wars ended.
With Marvel Comics these days, anything you read about on a Monday might not be true on Tuesday -and it just might get changed again on Wednesday.
DC will at least usually put in the effort to have some universal cosmic event take place when they rewrite their continuity.
I was never really interested in the Eternals when I was a kid but I find it fascinating today

In the movie at the end, Arishem says he will be the one who makes judgement whether or not if the planet is worth saving. Does this happen in other comics, and it is never implied that Tiamut made Makkari

Not sure when Rob is looking back from his point to explain the Celestials/ Deviants and Eternals connection; the current run the Hulk is expressed him to be the rage of the One above All; where he stands on the hierarchy with that boost.
Not to long ago Knull's revenge tour had the Celestials as puppets they were nothing to him (I take it the Eternals were looking over the writers desk puzzled we just told Iron man a lot of lofty stuff ), with the runs and solo series how much of this stands?
Yeah those are clear writer based plotholes that cause problems later on
The thing with comics - And long-running, mutli-writer franchises in general, really - Is that they don't make sense. Full stop. There is nothing you can do to make all the pieces fit together into a cohesive whole, because they were never supposed to.
There's an example someone gave me a while ago that really helped me get a better grasp of the sort of "meta-canon" aspect of these things.
Who wins in a fight, Batman or Superman? People have been arguing about this question forever, and they're not likely to stop any time soon. You could probably give a host of arguments just off the top of your head.
The thing is: It doesn't matter. Who wins in a fight between Batman and Superman? Whoever the author *needs* to win.
@@firetarrasque4667 Comics have a long running advantage of giving spotlight to everyone. The latest characters get pitted against unlikely rivals, comics should never have a finite event. That goes beyond the writers, if either could not be beat under any circumstances then we don't debate or buy in.

I watched this shortly after I read the Gaimon run and then after watching the movie, I see the elements there, but as for the dreaming celestial, I believe we might get that in Fantastic 4 or Eternals 2.
I dont think they would resist this great opportunity.
Plus the final scene of Tiamut has any eye at the top right still on; ... and yet I wonder. :D

Cosmic beings are too confusing for the average reader, thier powers are just too vast, with the earth based stuff then you can get a better reading of power and power levels but the celestial and stuff then everythings overy OP to the point of pointlessness
I love the cosmic stuff the most. However, there is no consistency. The problem is that seemingly the authors themselves do not understand established lore. So they write their own stuff and then change stuff here and there to fit their own stories.

@@ducky31108 Exactly. It's so hard to compare cosmic beings because not only do they sparsely appear, but the times they do show up have shown so much inconsistencies in their level of power that it's hard to definitely say who's more powerful than the other.

Tiamut is one of the most powerful celestials, but he was buried inside earth by lesser powerful deviants. Is Tiamut asleep to gain more power or asleep from despair because he was betrayed? 16:10 you speak of all his power but it's not adding up how he lost in the battle being so powerful other celestials fear him.
It wasn’t the deviants who sealed him away, it was all of the other eternals
As you can see, this video came out before the movie eternals which means that he doesnt talk about the movie at all. That being said he takes his infos from all the comics out there which also include tiamut being alive and tiamut portraying his powers. its just in the mcu that tiamut was growing inside earth and right when he hatched he got killed by all the etarnals from earth.

Tiamut helped Eternals to form the Uni-mind though. He probably isn't dead, it's just his armour that's changed, so he's probably sleeping, to become the dreaming celestial.

They should have done a full 24 episode season of eternals and THAN the movie. I think that would have been better.
In Eternals, Tiamut is an infant celestial who got aborted by the Eternals.
To successfully fight or beat the Eternals, you would need teams like "The Annihilators", "The Defenders", "United Front", and "God Squad" (they fought Chaos King aka Mikaboshi). The Avengers are not cut out for that type of threat/opposition. And before you get your panties in a bunch, yes, Chaos King was/is a bigger threat than the Eternals. The strongest Celestials (Tiamut, Scathan, etc.) are the only Celestials that could compete with or slow down Chaos King. That said, it's entirely possibly that Chaos King could absorb/kill entities such as Tiamut. During Chaos War, he destroyed 98% of the Multiverse, which included some of the most powerful characters in existence.

@@no2153 Lol yes. He was RIDICULOUS. There's a lot of people that under sell or hate on Chaos King. Usually it's because they have no knowledge on the character or because they weren't a fan of the "Chaos War" storyline. They weren't even able to kill him, he was just tricked into another dimension. Basically like a void of nothingness/darkness.

Why does Jack Kirby's art invoke such...otherworldliness? Why do the new Celestials look like vacuum cleaners? Is this a sign of Gaiman's level of interest, or of the producers level of market "savvy"?
One thing not answered in any of these videos about Eternals, Celestials or Deviants is why did the Celestials create Deviants to begin with? Eternals protect humans against Deviants but if both were created by Celestials why is either group necessary? The movie had a take on it but I was wondering if the comic books every went into it.
Deviants were created to destroy life eg the dinosaur's to make way for new life eg humans to live. Basically they were created to cleanse the earth or any planet to make way for a new species(humans) to reign. The eternals were created to protect humans after the deviants done their job cleaning the planet. It's like...send in the cleaners then send the in the eternals to wipe the cleaners. The problem that the celestial had was that the deviants evolved...meaning they grew a conscious making them do whatever they want. So Tiamut created the eternals to kill them off.
