The point of maximalism is the clashing and the offending patterns paired together with other swatches etc. I’m living for this pack, I’m so happy to find get something this unapologetically bold.

@@francinesmith1889 i wish they spent at least this time to refresh some stuff packs. I doesn't need to inckude new gameplay... a ton of objects could make up for the amount of content. But I agree, this one and the industrial loft managed to match perfectly content we already had. Unlike most people, i don't think thry were holding on a set they separated on purpose, they probably worked on those now. Maybe a few of concepts that were not used before, but i love it all.
I think that this kit really works with vintage glamour

for sure! as soon as i saw the mint and gold swatch on the fireplace it reminded me that a lot of the items in vintage glamour have that same swatch!

I actually created a list of packs that I think really work together and I called it "SIms packs that date each other" and I put Vintage Glam, Get Famous, Industrial Loft Kit, Blooming Rooms, Moschino Stuff, City Living, and Movie Hangout on there

I’m honestly kind of in love with this kit. I think it blends well with some of the other packs that have come out recently (Paranormal and Dream Home.) And I’m happy that they’re putting in more “trendy” style in the game instead of just sticking to safe basics.

I actually really like this one, which is really surprising. I immediately thought it would look good with paranormal, vintage glamor and maybe get famous. Seeing your review and all the swatches got me excited for the NSBC so I used the kit to furnish my accidentally cheated tiny home for my mint sim. I definitely went out of my comfort zone but I love it. ^-^

I think this kit is very cohesive actually! the patterns and color match really well, I can see it's not her style but the swatches do match rreally well
It would be amazing if you could make your own apartments. Like build a place, with a couple apartments in it, and have families move in, and get rent from them, and have to do repairs for them and stuff. Ugh. I would be obsessed! Haha

It would be great if they did that but they missed the opportunity when they didn’t add the apartment lot type in build mode or when they didn’t make it do you could be your own landlord.

@@yuhhbiscuit Initially the selling point of city living were the apartments and to live in them, we’ve got other apartments in eco lifestyle but it’s not their main feature. Giving that feature to the base game would be unfair for those who paid to have them by buying one of those packs

This is actually the first kit I bought. I thought the wallpapers were so cute, and I love the idea of using these pieces as accent pieces.

@@caitlin329 Same re 'tempted' , l haven't been interested in any of the others so far (so it's been very easy to be on a high horse about not giving into kits) but I am very close to tipping over to buying it! Especially because Wedding Stuff WAS going to be the first pack I bought on release and I won't get it until it is fixed. It might be fun to treat myself (to make up for that disappointment) with a pack I wasn't expecting to be interested in and one that really promotes fun and giving into wants and extravagance. Plus I think it'll go so well with vintage glamour which I have.

I really like the kit! I'm not a big fan of minimalism, so I'm kind of looking forward to this kit. Especially the wallpapers and the general color schemes have improved so much from the odd shades EA always uses, like in Nifty Knitting.
Wait maximalism is all about cohesion! I agree its an acquired taste-but there is a system/method to it-you just need an eye and this pack works really well w other sims packs/kits well! Keep working on branching out! You got it!
This kit is the one that finally got me to cave and buy kits, I got this one and the plants kit and I feel like I have so much more to work with in my style

This apartment is actually really cute. I think it could have turned out even better if you did what other comments have said and went outside of your comfort and embraced the maximalism style or didn’t limit yourself with packs. I think we just all love watching you build regardless if we have the packs or not and don’t want you to restrict yourself.
I love simsie so much but I wish the spirit of the pack had been embraced a little more.
i agree, i feel like a lot of simmers on youtube tend to lean more minimalist and neutral when it comes to builds so this kit is not rlly their jam

See, I feel like even though there are alot of loud and colorful swatches in the rest of the game, they either don't go with the item they're for or they're just not modern or cohesive. This is one of the only packs where the loud and colorful swatches look intentional. I'm definitely not surprised that this wasn't Simsie's style though. 😆
Yeah I think it's exactly that. The swatches on a lot of things in the rest of the game feel more like "accidentally" bold? Like it feels as if they designed it for one color then just recolored it to a few random options then were like "Eh yeah looks good." Meanwhile these items all feel like they're *made* to be bold. It's annoying though because you can see in the latest packs and kits they've really upped their game in design. Why that's annoying is because all of the older stuff just looks so horrible now.. It almost feels like the newer stuff is like using alpha CC while everything else is MM.. lol

I like this new kit! I've only bought a few of the kits, and I like that they're hitting more niches. It fits really well with vintage glamour, and I really love that :)

So far, I've found this kit works really well with things like Get Famous, Vintage Glamour, Vampires, and Paranormal Stuff, though I would love to see some wallpaper that are plain but match the colors found in the wallpaper patterns in the kit to create a bit more cohesion.
The flooring also works great with Dream Home Designer.
I definitely feel for those who do not vibe with this, but man I just _adore_ it

Ironically I think this apartment really is more 'all the exact same' throughout. By trying to make everything blend and 'work' it sort of meant it all blurred into one.
I'd probably have more differences between individual rooms (like a lot of real places).
I know you wanted to build using only this pack, base game and city living, but maybe it would have been easier to build if you didn’t limit yourself to the amount of packs, a lot of people in the comments mention how this pack would look good with paranormal, or vintage glamour. I feel like when you only limit your packs with base game it makes this kit stand out too much and doesn’t match with the rest of this apartment. This pack is definitely unique
At the same time though, would the stuff somehow clash? I’d have to try it for myself to judge haha

@@katkay9923 I think that as well, but what I find odd is that Kayla has access to every single pack in the game, but she (almost) never utilizes them. I understand that she wants the focus to be on the new kit. But it's hard to pull off this new kit with only the base game and City Living, almost nothing from those packs/kit match. I just personally thought it would be better if she tried using this new kit in a way that could show off its strengths and show what other packs it will match with.
@@e.MiLixx I don't think they would clash? I think they're the closest to it in style. Though that's kinda the whole point of maximalist style. It's supposed to clash and be outlandish and a little tacky. That's the fun of it!
I think it was good that simsie did this first- just utilizing the New released pack and base game as the only resources. A lot of people may only buy one or two packs for their sims game so it could be useful to ppl. That said… i do wanna see her do another build- it would b cool to try to do an apartment or house using specific cohesive packs like vintage glamour and the new one. it’s a good challenge too it’s fun to see her struggle to get the end product yk …..
Kayla keeps calling this kit glamourous and I keep thinking "this is just my style but I buy from second hand cheap" I would never call myself glamourous lol.
some sort of thrifted pack would be really cool! Like there's a few ways to buy second hand in the game but imagine a stuff pack where you could go to thrift stores and get unique and vintage clothes and furniture and stuff
I love this pack, it goes so well with the paranormal and Vampire packs, as well as Country kitchen and Blooming Rooms. I’m using it to decorate a Victorian house right now.
I actually really love this kit. Not all together all at once but statement pieces. The wallpaper with the flowers and birds and the light are AMAZING! I was happy paying the $7.90 just for that light, lol.
Kayla always use most basic swatches (black and white? c’mon!) even when doing a maximalist inspired home lol 😭🤣 love the apartment tho, it’s perfect for Penny! 💕
Yeah I kinda get it cause sometimes you just have a preferred build style and find it weird to build outside of it. Like I'm kind of the opposite, I love building colorful things and it's honestly boring and painful to try to build neutral stuff lol so maybe Kayla feels the same way for maximalist stuff
That's more her style. Like she said multiple times about the kit, she likes each piece individually as like accents and statement pieces. I personally can't stand the maximalist style because it legitimately hurts to look at.. there's so much clashing and everything's so bold.. It starts to actually make me feel stressed out. Maybe it's an anxiety thing.
@@Eventide215 yeah idk this eclectic maximalist style can look super nice if done tastefully tho. i’m not so much of a fan of the black and white for this renovation, it suits a more colourful palette tbh can add a lot of personality to a build
@@sasi848 I also think for Penny a more colorful palette makes more sense. I still like what Simsie made though, I just don't feel it was the spirit of the *pack*, more the spirit of Simsie and how she sees the pack, which I'm completely fine with.
As for adding personality to a build, it definitely can and we all know Sims 4 is lacking in personality in every single possible way.. which is hilarious considering it's a life simulator.

I would actually love to see a renovation of Diego Lobo’s giant apartment with this kit. With this kit and Get Famous it could be so luxury and so tacky in the best way
I love those frame/wainscoting pieces, but we need more options with them! Like panels that fit on the same wall segment as doors or just the baseboards and crown molding!
This entire pack is literally my mother's style and I love it so much. We have the bird wallpaper irl and the glass tables, too. I'm obsessed.

I really like maximalism. One of the first packs I bought was movie night. I love how bright and colourful it is. And this matches some of those vibes.

These items are some of my favourites in a while, especially that tiger wallpaper!! I can see this pairing well with items from Paranormal and maybe even some of the neutral stuff from Eco Lifestyle.
To my surprise, I ended up really liking this kit. I love adding some eccentric pieces to my builds and this kit is filled with 'em!

I actually love this kit, and I think people seem to have a weird idea about patterns and colours, you don't have to match them or use one bright piece. Maximalism is about mixing patterns and colours, things don't have to match at all. Like people wanting the woods to match in everything, it's nice but it's not necessary
I think maybe the woods not matching is more noticeable in the sims or something? Cause yeah in real life it's not that big of a deal and not everyone buys matching furniture sets or whatever
I love it. My dream house is the Spellman Manor from Chilling Adventures so this stuff works really well with that. Although will not actually be buying any kits or any more sims 4 things unless they really overhaul the base game.
This is the only pack/kit I've ever bought the day it was released. I fell in love with it from the first promo image. I will definitely use all three wallpapers a lot. I like the side table and entry table. I like the accent chair but struggle with the couch as well. More ceiling lights are always needed. I even like the Chinoiserie rug swatch, even though the spiral swatch is terrible.
I also just love this aesthetic in general. I'm obsessed with the Graduate Hotels chain because of it. Some Kimpton Monaco Hotels look like this as well.
This kit definitely works for Penny! Her style is bright and patterned, so I can absolutely see her loving a maximalist living space.

Do a build with a certain pack but try to use every single item from the pack at least once (base game allowed if no other option available)
I love this kit! This is the only one I bought immediately. I love bright colours and patterns. My sims builds are always funky and colourful. I'm one of those people that uses all the hot pink and crazy out there swatches. I can't for the life of me figure out how to make a suburban house decorated in neturals. They always look off. Simsie and I are complete opposite builders thats why I like watching her videos so much 🙂❤

I love the wallthings that you put in front the windows! Love the standing light, mirror and wall decoration. The flower and bird wall for one wall. And the coffee table as well. Don’t know about the rest
I feel like a lot of the sims' content doesn't apply to maximalism or minimalism and just lives in a weird in between space where everyone feels like it needed to be pushed farther or was already pushed too far lol 😆

I really like this kit! I built with it today and got so wrapped up in the walls and floors I forgot about all of the other fun things in it! Ahh can't wait to go back in and redecorate!

I gotta say, this kit, paranormal, moschino, get famous and vintage glamour together made a really good mix. Like a surprisingly good mix! In the end though, Im probably not gonna end up using any other objects than the flower wallpaper and maybe the giraffe.

I love this kit! I think the difference is that this is actually maximalist style, where the sims usually just slaps weird colors onto really basic items (like the magenta and purple swatches of the cheapest counters). I also think it plays well with paranormal and vintage glamour, especially that weird orange gold lol

I really love this kit! It is the only one I bought! It gives me 60s and 70s vibes, especially the arc lamp! I also have my apartment in this style! And I really adore the wallpapers!

using the wainscoting to customize those huge windows in city living it apartments? genius. that's such a fun item, really just wish there were separate top and side pieces because the inability to use those with any doors and certain windows is pretty limiting. it's basically not possible to do a full room using those so my dreams of custom wallpaper w/ wainscoting has been crushed
There's so many kits but I really think they need to fix my wedding stories first.
I think that they were probably told by EA that they needed to release this since they announced it and the quarter was almost over
I suspect different teams will be working on different things simultaneously. But these will have all been planned way in advance; likely before they realised the pack would be so bugged.
I haven't been too keen on the recent kits but I love this one! I think it pairs well with Get Famous, Paranormaland Movie Hangout packs.
This kit reminded me of my parent's old house so much!! It was decorated by my uncle, aunt, grandmother and my great-grandfather. The wall paper was definitely was caught my eye. It resembled our living room wallpaper so much!! In the right environment this pack would look stunning
I just bought it today. Like you, I enjoy using the items in the kit as statement pieces. I wouldn't want to use all of them at once. I loved the apartment redo! I used some of the pieces to redo a room in the Landgraab mansion.

Penny Pizzazz was also the sim I thought of when I saw this kit, particularly that one swatch of the couch that's like, teal and hot pink, with zebra stripes I think? Makes me want to give a go at renovating her apartment as well.

The apartment is gorgeous. When I saw the kit really went full maximalist I knew it wouldn't be your style but I'm glad you like a lot of the individual pieces. This is a kit I'll definitely get. Depending on my mood I jump from maximalist to minimalist style. Scandi is my favorite and luckily we have enough great items to achieve that look. I'm looking forward to creating some very over the top looks with this kit. I do think they did an excellent job with the pieces they chose and the swatches.

Ever since Penny snuck into one of my sims apartment to stare ominously at that chalk outline and left the moment my sims younger brother came home from school, I have become highly suspisous of that Penny Pizzazz and I have questions...What connection does she have to the "Suspiciously cheap apartment" and it being priced so cheap?

Have not bought the kit yet but I am considering doing so. I have to admit that I remember seeing one of those round lighted mirror things in real life back in the 70’s I think that it was. I was totally mesmerized by it and found myself wishing that I could afford the schlocky thing.
If they ever made a minimalist/ neutrals pack I would definitely purchase that, I would love for it to be easier to match things and would allow for more wild patterns like these to shine as statements
