I'm Molly, a typical sushi, makeup, and fashion loving millennial girl who just so happens to be blind! I was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa at just 4 years old and began public speaking at age 5. I started just doing motivational speaking, but now I make videos and even model! Even though I can’t see, I know that there are bright spots in everything we face. Let’s find them together. 💕

I'm 70, and just had cataract surgery, which also gave me 20/20 vision, instead of the 20/200 I had previously. When I looked at the mirror, I looked SO FREAKING OLD and my red hair had turned white! The last time I could see myself clearly, I was in my 50's. I never thought I would look any different. What a difference 20 years makes. Not seeing yourself age is not always a bad thing.

Funny story about my relationship with aging. Most of my friends had a bit of a freak out as we were approaching 30 while I was cool as cucumber. What really kinda shocked me about my own aging journey was listening to music with my mom and realizing the song "Senora de las Cuatro Decadas," which we used to sing about her and how "someday" she would reach her 4 decades of life. But now she has long passed her 4 decades of life, and soon I will be 4 decades old lol. So while I'm not dreading 40, it is more sombering now. And a priviledge since now I have memories of former classmates who didn't have the fortune to get to live this many years. So bring on the wrinkles and grays, I'm ready!

This is so odd - I was looking through your instagram last week and genuinely thinking ‘Mollie is at the most beautiful I have ever seen her’.
I don’t know if it’s because I am a similar age (28), but watching people around me growing into mature women has been so wonderful to see and I genuinely think all of my friends hitting these ages are the most beautiful versions of themselves I’ve ever seen!

“We as a society have lacked a lot of compassion and humanity and understanding”
That really got to me because it’s so true. People need to really take a step back and realize that the energy they’re using to leave negative comments could be used in so many more productive and uplifting ways. We need to show more compassion to each other every day.

Crushes my soul that you are feeling this way. Number 1, you are stunningly beautiful. You look 12. I can't see a single wrinkle on your whole face. There is nothing you should ever do to change you face. Your eyebrows look amazing. Number 2, you are so much more than your looks. You have so much to give and share and you are still amazingly beautiful. I remember at 30 I felt old too and thought I was aging. Nope, it wasn't until 50 that I really had noticeable wrinkles and such. You have plenty of time looking young and beautiful. I promise. Do NOT listen to anyone who says anything negative about you. They are jealous because of your beauty and amazing personality.

Not aging is a mixed bag. As someone who ages slowly I often have people assume I'm in my early 20's (I'm closer to 40 then 30) and I feel I get less respect. I find myself working my age into conversations at work to make me more respected.

You made this issue extremely easy to “understand” from a sighted listeners perspective.
I get angry when I think something about my hair/outfit looks bad and someone says “it’s PERFECT” because it’s completely undercutting how I feel about something. Sometimes I want to just pitch a fit when people do this lol. This doesn’t compare in intensity, but this is what your experience reminds me of on a small scale.
There is a sudden uptick in minute insecurities online and I HATE it. Like why am I thinking about if I’m talking with my upper or lower teeth?! Unnecessary!

I can't believe somebody commented that about your eyebrows and lips! Girl, your eyebrows are BEAUTIFUL, your lips are on the thinner side but you have such a BEAUTIFUL smaller nose, and big eyes and that's why your lips suit you. You are very pretty, and you know what they say - if a girl compliments a girl then it's a real thing 😄 But for real, if you could see yourself in the mirror you would maybe be even arrogant because of your looks. Keep rocking Molly, you're such an inspiration! 💖

Hi Molly! I’m a sighted person, but I still have a hard time understanding what i look like or how I’m physically perceived. Even with being able to see myself in a mirror, my own perception of how i look changes alot. It feels strange, like what is in the mirror changes with how i feel, what people tell me and sometimes just for no good reason. Also other peoples opinions of what i look like vary for different reasons, like if they like me, if they are used to how i look, how their brain percieves things, their personal prefrences and on top of that I have to figure out if people are being genuine when they tell me what they think. I say all this not to invalidate what you are feeling, obviously it’s still a very different expirience, but to share that the sight is heavily influenced by perception and to hopefully bring some comfort in sharing this feeling of struggle with self perception.

Thirty isn't old, it's finally being grown up. At thirty your face matures, is no longer a child's face. Wrinkles and signs of aging come later.
And believe me, seeing yourself in the mirror only boosts your confidence if you already have confidence. If you lack confidence to begin with, when you look at yourself in the mirror you will see even more blemishes, more imperfections than anyone else has ever criticized. Your mirror image isn't objective. It shows you what you already believe.
You have more reason to feel confident of your own worth than almost anyone else. You have a following of literally millions of people who admire you, love you and want to learn from you. Who else can say that?

I think what makes us look “mature” (not aged) as we approach our 30s and during this time frame is natural weight loss in the face. I also have read that having a bright even complexion is more important than line or wrinkle reduction for a youthful look.

Me as a blind woman. Because I’ve been blind since six months old. It’s not bad at all growing old and being blind. I have a bunch of handfuls and handfuls of gray hair. And a lot of people tell me it looks beautiful on me.
Also, one thing I like about growing old as a blind person you don’t have to worry about that time of the month or you know having your period. That’s what I like about being blind and growing old. Because me and my sisters, we’re closer to 60 but I’m out of seven kids with my dad side , so old my two sisters that’s a year and two years old is great. I love it as a blind person because I can share my experience to my sisters who fully sided and I can share their fully experience to me as a blind person.

As I age in my forties people still think I'm in my twenties. Feels good and I don't feel the aging effects yet too much but I do know when my gray hair starts to set in more it might be an adjustment. The one thing that makes me feel old is when on the radio they say here's an oldie but it was music from my generation about 20 some years go. I also want to say that you have taught me so much about the blind community and with that I educated my boss at work about it as well. I work in hospitality front desk and I have seen people try to push off service animals that are not service animals but more support and they're not trained. But again we cannot ask. You still look younger than you are. I am 47 and it's only now that i think that age is showing a little and you know what, it doesn't bother me as much as i thought it would. It would be weird to tell people i am 47 and i would look like 25. I am the same as you, i am not going to take fillers in my lips or anything. I take care of my skin and that will mean i will age as i am supposed to. When you get older it becomes more about staying healthy. Again, you look amazing!!

There’s a big difference between fact and opinion. Your face looks exactly as it should. That is fact. There’s nothing wrong with your lips- they suit you well because those are the lips you were meant to have. Your eyebrows are also nice, they are 1-2 shades lighter than your hair which is how it should be for brunettes. The only opinions you should trust are from those you KNOW have your best interest at heart.

As someone who's actually a part of the non-existent upper lip club, I can reassure you that your lips are totally normal. You can definitely see them just fine, not too big, not too small and perfectly proportioned to evenly match your other facial features. And most importantly, they look natural, which in my opinion (as well as the opinion of the majority of Men) is far more attractive and preferred especially compared to the current trend of getting filler that will almost certainly be a passing phase. Plus, I can't imagine that all of these chemical injections, that are foreign to the body, being that healthy or safe for us.
Work with what God gave you because you're beautiful the way you are. He made us all individually unique and beautiful in our own ways and these cosmetic trends are really taking away from that, making everyone start to look the same like they came off of an assembly line. It's actually quite sad to see, especially all of these super young Women in their late teens and early 20's that are being told that they need filler and botox as "preventative care" by predatory clinicians and ads online that are preying on their insecurities which have been completely blown out of proportion due to their growing up during the age of social media, where everything is constantly being recorded and photographed and then filtered and photoshopped giving a false perception of unattainable perfection. Unfortunately though, all of these cosmetic procedures are starting to make these young Women look 10, or even 20, years older than their actual age, robbing them from their youthful appearance.

Wow, be proud of all the self work you've done. Its hard, great job, I am proud of you.
Imo your eyebrows are perfect for your skin tone, they look great and I am honestly jealous every time I see them haha. Also your features are so soft and ethereal that your mouth shape is really balanced for your face, i think lip filler would look odd/overwhelming.

Molly, I can relate to feeling insecure about getting older. I just turned 39 last month, but fiancé pointed out something that made me much more grateful to be the age that I am… because a lot of our dear friends and loved ones passed away before the age that I am now. Age truly is just a number. I say positive affirmations daily and when I catch myself having a negative thought about myself or saying something negative about myself, I immediately come up with three to five positive things to say about myself. That has made a huge difference in my self esteem and mental health. We all have flaws, but that is what makes us unique individuals. And as long as I am taking care of myself (physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually), that is what matters. We all age if we are blessed enough to live long enough to experience it… and it is so much more empowering to embrace it than to be self critical of it. And as a sighted person, I think that you are stunningly beautiful Molly and I don’t think that you need to change anything about how you look. 💗

As a woman who turned 50 less than a month ago who has always been hearing impaired on some level, it is interesting to hear the experience of someone else who has lost more of one of their major senses over time. I have been legally deaf forever but I am losing what residual hearing I did have. My world is very visual. It does scare me as I lose more of my vision with the years.
Sorry I can't even say or type anymore right now. I'm very unwell at the moment.

Molly! Read this until the bottom because I have a HUGE question that I need your perspective on about aphantasia!!
This is a really fantastic video, Molly! I appreciate your perspective souch rn because I can't control my weight anymore due to multiple autoimmune diseases and chronic illnesses. And I was the petite-fit girl my entire life up until around 31-32. I'm 35 now and I think a lot of horrible things. I can't work out like I used to and I used to be a personal trainer. My body experiences 300-500+ symptoms and pain. I feel so powerless. The aging certainly isn't helping even though I have always looked young because I have a baby face. Hearing your perspective somehow makes me care less and just feel grateful that I am alive and have a body, despite it betraying me, because I have a man who loves me and two amazing son's. It does make me want to push myself harder though through the pain to accomplish something during this life. I just have to be careful because I experience so much pain, and I have been clean 12years, but if I set my aights too high and feel constant pain, it could be a trigger to use to compensate for the pain. It's a shame we have horrible pain management in this country and the "war on drugs" is the biggest flop, especially with millions of illegals enyerng our country from all over the world- which WILL only affect our healthcare system worse and worse every year and even every month. But THAT is a whole other subject. There is something I am curious about and it is about aphantasia. I have aphantasia (I am sighted) and I wonder if all blind people have aphantasia or just some. Is this something you have ever looked into? This isn't the first time I have has questions about aphantasia and it is a subject I am investigating in a journalistic way, so if you could respond if you see this comment out of the hundreds, please respond!

Pausing to say, I know you aren't making this video for validation, but I'm going to give it to you anyway. You are stunning. Your eyebrows are on point. And I'm not lying when I say, getting older is really the best. I feel more confident at 44 than I ever have before and like you said, it's mostly from internal work. Thank you for talking about taboo subjects, it's important. And more and more women are dressing for the female gaze and not the male gaze. It's liberating.

I just turned 29 a few days ago and I can’t stop thinking about the fact that I’m almost 30 and that I am aging. I started using anti wrinkles creams and eye creams even if I don’t have wrinkles to possibly avoid getting them too fast. I also just had a baby and theirs this pressure to not have a mom body. And aging gracefully and being fit and just looking young. It’s crazy how society makes us feel that once we are 30 we are no longer desirable and that we are now old.. but in reality we are in our prime and should be excited about all the beautiful changes that are coming.. and my 30’s are just going to be my best years where I’m not gonna focus on others opinion but my own

    Perspective:
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
When people make comments about how others could "look better" or "that looks bad on you," it is all a matter of perspective. Because the people who truly love you will think you're beautiful after a week of not showering, wearing a potato sack. Those are the people who matter. People who radiate beauty from the inside will glow in every stage of their life. And you Molly, seem like one of those people ❤

As a sighted person, I feel like I spent my 30s adjusting to what aging might be like as a woman in American society, and how I’d be deciding to react to it. In my 40s now, I have felt a shift to not caring even more than ever, accepting what I can’t change and what I don’t want to change and what I love about myself. I hope over the next decade you get some peace about it in your own way, but keep doing your best, gentle self-work during your personal adjustment to aging. I appreciate your insights so much!

Oddly enough, the gap between your understanding of visual language and the adaptations you make to “understand” them differently (ie the implications of those words, the physical, tangible signifiers) seem to relate totally to the gap I have between myself and my autistic partner when communicating certain things. He isn’t literally blind, but in many ways he *is*. This video has been helpful in a surprising way.

Also, Molly, for what it’s worth, I wish I had your microbladed brows. I have blonde brows that are nearly translucent, which has challenged my makeup skills. Ahem, drawing fine hairs is NOT in my wheelhouse. So, I went and got them microbladed and they looked like blocks. 😭 I hate, hate hate them. Thankfully, they’ve mostly faded, but I’m still left desperately wanting some that look like yours. lol.
