You can always go on a Sari-Sari Foodtrip!
Sari-Sari Stores are small family owned shops that you can find all over the Philippines! They have a large variety of goods available, and a large variety of small snacks for only.... 1 Peso!! Wahoo!
There are literally A TONNE of different snacks and treats you can get for 1 peso only! So if you can't afford going on a big FoodTrip... Why not just go on a mini "Sari-Sari FoodTrip!" It is a lot of fun and you never know what you might find!

I'm so surprised and impressed. I didn't know you could still buy 1-peso snacks and candies in sari sari stores nowadays. Considering the inflation over the past decade, I didn't expect you'd still be able to find cheap foodies like that. Yema in particular, would be expensive to make for an average Filipino. Condensed milk even back then were already expensive. Sugar too, even though we have a lot of sugar plantation, is still expensive. And of course gas when you cook it in LPG stove. Even for a small portions, I don't think they're making that much out of it. You just gotta love the countryside. Really laid-back and relaxed in a lot of good ways, particularly the prices.

I remember the size of bocayo we would buy at the sari sari store when I was a young girl growing up in the Philippines. They were the size of an adult's hand,so full of shredded coconut meat... The tira tiras were the bomb coz they were made locally where I had lived in Laguna...I miss my childhood...
