- Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire came out on November 21st, 2014. I never played the original Pokemon Emerald so I was very happy back then playing these remakes.
But just how good are they 9 years later? This is Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire 9 Years Later.

OR/AS Wiki:
"Pokémon Omega Ruby[a] and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire[b] are 2014 remakes of the 2002 Game Boy Advance role-playing video games Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, also including features from Pokémon Emerald. The games are part of the sixth generation of the Pokémon video game series,[1] developed by Game Freak and published by The Pokémon Company and Nintendo for the Nintendo 3DS. Announced in May 2014, the games were released in Japan, North America and Australia on 21 November 2014, exactly twelve years after the original release date of Ruby and Sapphire, while the European release was the following week."

Can't believe ORAS came out almost 9 years ago, ORAS still feels so recent
Because it's a lot more polished and modern than the newer games
Wish I didn't lose my 3DS when I was a kid, I'd have replayed them 3 times over by now.
@@juannaym8488🙄
I agree, despite KNOWING better, I still feel ORAS like it was more recent than the Alola games
I didn’t need my age to be attacked like this
ORAS, when a remake actually meant something. When it could at least be debated if third version or remakes were better
Still has been controversal to leave out the whole freaking Battle Frontier.
@@ZeChainwarden Ngl i like Battle Frontier but I feel it’s very overrated tbh
@@underdogchris1753lol that’s the best part of the post game
@@underdogchris1753 The Battle whatevers (Tower, Frontier, etc.) have always been a huge pain in the ass; grindy as hell, you need a lot of consecutive victories to get decent BP rewards, tons of enemies with luck-based moves like Sheer Cold etc (and naturally, they work way more than 30% of the time because the game hates you.)
@@borntobehated1758 i disagree
Currently playing ORAS again. Its amazing. Tbh it would be awesome if they released a Delta Emerald version for a cheap price. It could be 90% the same game with extra content of emerald and fixing some issues here and there, maybe introducing new megas etc. Just a fan fantasy I have for us the early gen lovers.
But we know how Pokemon company be doin 😔
I just started playing mine i got both new last week as my xmas gifts 🤣
Honesty If I was able to learn game programming. I would have love to add the battle frontier in as a mod so it could be perfect.
You aren't going to convince me that the remake of a game that I played 11 years prior is now almost 10 years old. That's impossible.
Unfortunately, we really are that old
Emerald does not have more content than ORAS. It's just that its postgame content is almost entirely centered on the battle frontier.
Yeah I may have phrased that a bit poorly.
It's still rather debatable whether or not consumers would have a better time with the Battery Frontier versus with ORAS post game though, so I wanted to mention it one way or another.
Thank you for pointing that out!
Hoenn 100% has the best music
I absolutely adore generation three. While I did start with generation one with Pokemon Red, Pokemon Sapphire ended up being one or the games I played the most. The Pokemon games, especially generations 1-3, are so relaxing/nostalgic to me. This video definitely made me want to replay generation three again. :)
Same. Gen 1er that ended up looking gen 3 the most.
I remember buying a 3ds exclusively for this game and never picked it up before or after, but God did I spend some hours on this game
Gen 1-3 was the golden age. 4 and 5 were the dying embers.
i truly feel you and love 1-3 but always wanted gen4 but my family couldn't afford those options. eitherway gen 1-3 gang
I love going back to games from my childhood like this, just soaking in all of the good vibes and not being excessively critical. it always frustrating when a retrospective is trying to break a game into a million pieces and compare a 10 year old game to elden ring and god of war. Of course a lot of old games will have issues, game design improves that just how it is, but it nice to go back and appreciate a game for what is was while pointing out issues that genuinely could've been solved back in the day.
Big agree. Our tastes developed and now there are other games we rather play, but that doesn't mean I didn't have a good time playing Pokemon Alpha Sapphire again. 😎🤝
smh oras is bad because no melania blade of micholah or kratos i wanted to die 50 times fighting steven to then get good and use zweildhandler on charzard and roll away when hp low so bad game 0/10
@@shiny-piplup I actually laughed very loud to this, thank you LMAO
Crazy that nearly as much time has passed between ORAS and now as between the original games and ORAS
My first game was Emerald but trust me Omega Ruby holds a special place in my heart.
Never got to play ORAS but Emerald was one of my first Pokemon games back in the early days. It's nice to see ORAS getting the love it deserves these days.
Crazy to me we’ve made it far enough for this to be someone’s childhood game😂 I still remember the OG as a kid and it was my favorite ❤️
I remember the hype ORAS had. I remember getting an exclusive poster for the game for pre-ordering it!
I was one of the lucky people to play each gen in order as a child. Got Red in 98 as a two year old haha. That said, Hoenn is and always been my favorite region, and Omega Ruby is my favorite Pokémon game. I loved playing gen 6 competitive, too! Treecko’s always been my favorite starter since gen 3, and Skarmory is always on my Hoenn team, since it’s my favorite Pokémon and it’s available much much earlier relatively in Gen 3 compared to its debut.
TL:DR, great video, love the games lol
Do you have a second favorite? I'm looking to expand my Pokemon content on here c:
Also thank you for stopping by the channel 😎🤝♥️
@@b1bblysubbed purely for your response man. i had this exact experience, except it was yellow not red for me. 1. hoenn, kanto, johto
@@laosvegas7494 I wish I had one of the Kanto games 😭😭 Ill add it to my wishlist so I can play it through some time hopefully soon
Your video is criminally underrated, love your editing and going over these remakes, these need to be remembered more and I’m glad people are talking about it now
I appreciate the love yo ♥️😎🤝🤝
XY and oras were the first games I constantly watched trailers, looked for the korokoro scans and so on.
What a time man.
literally soft resetting for a treeko right now as i saw this to replay with only shinies, awesome vid keep it up!
My thoughts: Sucks that the battle frontier was removed, but I feel like soaring absolutely makes up for it. Soaring lowkey made ORAS the true first openworld Pokémon games
This is an insane comment
@@Paul-lt8le What is that? Persona 1? Noice
This was also my first Pokémon game and it brought back so many memories. Thank you
Oras is one of the most underrated Pokémon remakes. It changes just enough so that it doesn’t just feel like a copy and paste remake of the original and feels fresh instead of just feeling like a straight remake.
Love ORAS but it’s definitely not underrated haha most people regard it as the best remakes. Only other debatable one is HG/SS
playing pokemon sapphire is one of my earliest childhood memories, the remakes are pretty perfect imo especially because of the way it expands on gen 6. 3D sprites and animations are top tier for a ds game
alpha saphire was my first game too. Respect brother
I replayed AS a few weeks ago. It was funny how familiar it felt after not playing it for at least five years.
The quality in this video, I never even realized how small your chennel is! I am so glad you showed up in my feed, absolutely great content keep it up! ❤️
Yahoo! You're very kind and I am glad you stopped by to leave a comment.
I appreciate you 😁🤝
@@b1bbly Thank me by keeping up the great work, hope to see you hit big soon!!!
1:15 got chills here thinking about all the memories. Well done!
Thank you! 😎🤝
I loved oras sm, my first game was x but these games are still very nostalgic for me, just a reminder of simpler times and I always like to revisit these games every once in a while
wow, this video is so well made i thought you had at least 10k subs, keep it up dude love your contents
Very glad to hear someone else echo my belief that Hoenn has the best music. I think the arrangements are more complex and catchy than other generations, and I also love the style/genres they incorporate. The sound font from the OG gba games will always be my favorite, but the new renditions are great too.
3rd gen is my favorite gen too, sapphire was my first game and I was HYPED for ORAS
in my opinion this is the best remake
Valid answer. 😁👌
Hoenn is my favorite region too. ORAS still feels very fresh after all the years.
I agree, something about it feels very cohesive and very fun to explore
Dude Im replaying Omega Ruby right now and it really is a gem. Platinum and Heart Gold still are my top two, but this one is probably third. Such a good game
Dude same i just got both last week and i started playing them right away 🤣
@@antuanvillegas6651just bought a 3ds for $350 & platinum for $120 prices are through the roof i sorely regret selling my pokemon games and 3ds in 2017 prices were normal back then, have no idea what happened
amazing video u deserve way more subs that it’s actually insane i believe in your journey
I appreciate the love and thank you for stopping by! Your positivity is valued a lot here 😎🤝
Nice editing skills and clear video with neatly placed ideas. Good job you really have potential 💪🏻
Thank you very much! That honestly means very much to me. 😊🤝
ORAS is low-key S-tier.
85 SUBS?! THIS IS PREPOSTEROUS. That video was amazing man good job 👍
Hehe thank you c:
ALSO YOUR PFP, reminds me I should give Sly some love later on 😎👌
I love when the younger gens come along and get the same enjoyment out of a series that raised me during my childhood.
I just bought omega ruby this year, never played this remakes but man I was happy I seen this on game stop and I had to buy I played the gba sapphire version nd I always loved those games
Apart from the whole no Battle Frontier thing, ORAS is about as perfect of a remake as can be. Its a shame Gamefreak's quality has gone so downhill over the past few gens
Dude I play the same way! I always preplan my team because I love those particular Pokémon so much
It was my first 3ds game and my first nintendo console after almost 2 decades (gbc was my last). The game still holds up today. It is a proper and well made remake compared to the recent gen 4 remakes.
Your upscaling is bananas
Really nice commentary ❤ sub and liked!
You’re right, the Treeko line IS underrated. Impossible to be better than our lord and savior Mudkipz 😊
Nice video man
my whole childhood is based off of this game dude
I feel old, I just stopped playing alpha sapphire last year
You gotta run it back 😎🤝
I'm still playing my Alpha Sapphire game to this day. There's just so much to do. They also introduced two of the best Shiny hunting methods; Horde Encounters and Dexnav Chaining (yesterday I found a Shiny Bronzor after 270 encounters with the Dexnav)
I still remember the team I beat the game with; Blaziken, Breloom, Manectric, Latias, Sharpedo and Sylveon. I had a Gardevoir on my team as well but boxed it because it was the weakest member of my team and caught an Eevee once I was able to find it in the game, evolved into Sylveon and sweeped the Dragon Type user in the Elite Four.
Also, my favorite part of the game is the Secret Bases and collecting the flags and finding new Secret Bases is so much fun! I also completed the Hoenn and National Dex, not only did it tame me a LONG time to complete both but it was satisfying when I was done; got the Shiny Charm and two cool certificates that you can hang up in your Secret Base.
Still my favorite Pokémon game to this day. I mostly go around collecting flags from the Secret Bases, level up some Pokémon and occasionally Shiny Hunt.
I'm glad someone here mentioned the Secret Bases and had value with it! For me, it was a little tacky but I'm very happy you had fun with it!
I don't catch Pokemon like that but I remember my first shiny was in ORAS. I saw a Zigzagoon sparkle and was orange and accidentally ended his life LMAO
@@b1bbly Yeah, most people forget about the Secret Bases was a thing in ORAS but I like it, it's really fun lol
And this is the game that got me into Shiny Hunting. My first Shiny in the game was a random Female Frillish, I was just Surfing trying to get somewhere, Sootopolis probably lol
Edit: F for the Shiny Zigzagoon, that's an oof lol
To me ORAS feels like a whole new game. It’s so different it’s amazing. The last good remakes imo
Very well said, and excellent video
Thank you! 😁
A true crime how few Pokemon games have mega evolutions, X&Y and ORAS were so memorable for me cuz of megas
I grew up on ruby and sapphire, but i think ORAS' addition of the delta episode is the best part of the game hands down
Man I feel old now
Oh my God no way it's been that long since I experienced my favorite pokemon game 😭
I was born in 2003 so I wasn't one of the fans who had been playing the games since red and blue, but I had an older brother who got me into the series. I was stupid so I didn't know how to properly play the games when I was a young kid so my brother would let me do some battles and run around while he was playing diamond and pearl. Then one fateful Christmas my late grandma got me Omega Ruby and my brother Alpha Sapphire for Christmas. It was the first game I fully played by myself and its was solidified me as a true pokemon fan. It is also the reason why Sceptile is my favorite pokemon! I love these games because they're what made me love pokemon
W childhood w starter
omega ruby was my first and is my favorite pokemon game
I'll never forgive pokemon for ditching the battle frontier
OR/AS was peak Pokemon competitive. There were Pokemon battle meets nearly every week. It was mostly college students. At university I battled with newbies and veterans. I was actually the best in my friend group. Even online it was fun seeing wrecking people that used legendary Pokemons while I only used regular ones
Most people left Pokemon before US/UM
These games, as well as the originals, were released on my birthday. I was born 11.21.1995.
To date it is my favorite generation by a landslide. And at the bottom lies Gen 5. My 2nd favorite.
Don’t sleep on Pokémon Contests until you win a Master Class 👀. I used to hate them but I like them now
I will give them a chance...
One day...
I haven't played ORAS, but damn this video hits especially the music part. the music in gen 3 is actually my fav. I may prefer FRLG (its my first Pokemon game), but Pokemon Ruby have a special place in my heart and i will eventually play Omega Ruby.
Man, maybe I should go on a Pokemon spree or something. FRLG seems to be the other popular one if it isn't HG/SS or Emerald. You're making me want to try them all now, haha
@@b1bbly I actually haven't played neither HGSS nor Emerald. I got the Gameboy Advanced when I was a kid from my brother (he's the one who hooked me to Pokémon and gaming in general). he gave me Pokémon Fire red and challenged me to beat it and then he bought me Ruby and I spent a lot of hours in these games till my fire red cartage was not saving anymore lol. then I stopped playing Nintendo games until the 3DS comes around and my brother bought me one with Pokémon White, White 2 and Pokémon Y. I stopped playing because a burnout and I didn't got the feeling to play any Pokémon games. Fast forward to today I actually got all the Nintendo switch entries last month, and I have finished both Let's go Pikachu and Scarlet. Now playing Brilliant diamond and I'm having a blast.
@@l7xk533 I'm so happy to hear you're enjoying Pokemon again. The series comes in waves for me too. I have Sword and Violet right now but haven't even touched them to be honest. Are the Gen 4 remakes any good? Would you say they are worth picking up? I hear they are based of the originals Diamond/Pearl and not Platinum. Let me know 😁
@@b1bbly i haven’t played the gen 4 games so i wouldn’t know, but i’ve searched about something because i was stuck and didn’t know what to do. and from what i’ve read its a diamond and pearl thing that got fixed in platinum. either way i don’t think its a bad game if you haven’t played the gen 4 games.
@@l7xk533 putting it on my Christmas wish 😈
I remember I got a used 3ds just to play this game because it was so nostalgic for me
Its by far my favorite two games to nuzlocke right now you can do some many mono type runs because of how many types you can get early
Still one of the best games ever. Get to use my favorite Pokemon (Latias). Get to hear one of my fave game music (Zinnia's Battle Themes). And it was just a lot of fun to play this game.
But damn is it already so old. Time goes so fast...
I do hope if there will ever be remakes of HGSS it will be done ORAS style and not BDSP style.
Gen 5 is next Gen 2 is done HgSs ARE the remakes is was NEVER Johtos turn again.
Cool man, my First pokémon game was Black Version 2 which i played with my Nintendo DSi in 2013(around June). During that time B2W2 were The most recent main pokémon games so i founded it really fun. Back in the 2010's i was not able to get a 3DS so i'm playing OmegaRuby with Citra. I also always wanted to play a Hoenn game, but also a 3D main pokémon game(beside pokémon GO) so instead playing X and Ruby i just decided for now that OR was the best option for me. So many memories about my journey through Unova, i know that nostalgia feeling.
The last good game they actually released
I love oras! It was the last good pokemon games, in my opinion. Yes i thought it was easy, but i still enjoyed the adventure and everything they added to it. Sucks that BDSP didn't follow its predecessor.
I was around 11-12 when I played this game. I remember saving up for the game and the console. I think I put around 800+ hrs to omega ruby since I played a lot of competitive battles .This is the last main line Pokemon enjoyed. Looking back at the game, I think it is not just nostalgic bias that makes these games great, but I think it was cool especially with the delta episode part. Really enjoyed your vid!
Thank you for stopping by and dropping a comment ♥️ the delta episode is amazing I wish I talked about it ;-;
Im ur 601st sub. Nice vid btw
I appreciate it brotha 🤝
Man 9 years is crazy
My first pokemon game was sapphire I love gen 3, so when the remakes came out I played omega ruby but I have alpha sapphire too might be time to play through it!
I remember it so well it was my birthday 2015 and I really wanted a 3ds I got 3ds but I never heard what pokemon was I played it for the first time and I have never look back I still play on my original 3ds and reset my save so much I remember my original team and the delta episode was so different to me in my first pokemon game.
I just got both new last week and im playing them for the time and i gotta say i love it 🤣
Glad you're enjoying it! 😊
When you said Hoen is your favorite region, I insta subbed!
W, welcome to the team 🤝
ORAS was my first Pokémon game, I hold it as the best Pokémon games.
Pokémon Omega Ruby was my very first Pokémon game up until that point i only watched the anime and got that book that has every Pokémon in it at the book fairs i remember my first starter being torchic i also remember a few of my first few team members being delcatty vileplume can't believe its been so long since i began playing it
I'm glad I was able to make you reminisce about it! My first team was Sceptile, Gardevoir, Manectric, Aggron, Gyarados, and Hariyama 😎🤝
@b1bbly Cool, I lost my original game cartridge, but I plan on buying a new one and replaying the game with a few strict rules
Holy shit, I feel so old. I'll never forget those memories annihilating people online with my unfair team.
I like Alpha sapphire ORAS even tho I'm playing Ultra Moon because I got Shinys on UM but I will Play Alpha sapphire again soon
Good video 🎉
I absolutely love every bit of this video. Thx you for making this. I also thought this artstyle is the most perfect artstyle for pokemon, not too childish (like scarlet and violet) and not too realistic (ahem, like scarlet and violet too, somehow).
So less saturated.
I love these games soooooo much
pokemon oras are amazing
no shot its been 9 years man
Alpha sapphire was one of my first Pokémon games
Oh no... Nostalgia for ORAS incoming... That means.... That MEANS.... I'm getting oooollllldddd!
Good for you pal! This vid is well made too.
YEAH I FELT THAT, and thank you very much for stopping by! 😎🤝
🔥🔥🔥
Them remakes be nicely touched up and flawless for the whole story experience and post-game reconstruction. Then people only criticised at the “no Battle Frontier” part lmao, when they knew it was Emerald’s. As someone who never completed Battle Frontier, as well as had more memories with Sapphire than Emerald, this was just an excellent remaking project.
ORAS were the last good pokemon games in my opinion
Sun and Moon were fantastic! I was away from the series since I beat Sapphire initial release. Came back and got X, but never put any time in. Moon launched and I dove back in. Got AS after and then went back to X. X, AS, and Moon were all absolutely fuckin amazing.
I kinda wanna go back and play others I missed like B/W.
@@marcusbruns9729sun and moon was pretty bad relatively speaking
In 2006 for my 6th birthday I got a gameboy advanced sp with Pokemon Sapphire with it. Needles to say I had tons of fun with it and while biased I just always loved gen 3, the music alone I just find so great to listen to still to this day.
I just remember getting so excited when ORAS was announced and was so happy to get my hands on them. Now I never had Emerald up to that point, only bought it like last year. So I never experienced the extra stuff Emerald had that Ruby and Sapphire didnt, but I still had lots of fun and loved ORAS. I thought they added some good stuff, the music somehow just got better (Wally's battle music at the end of victory road goes HARD for no real reason and I love that)
I did hear about what they didnt include and how ORAS could have been even better than what we got and I get that, but I just never could hate on those games man, biased? yes, but thats just how it goes haha.
Good video dude, always love seeing people talk about gen 3/ORAS :)
Pokémon Emerald should have been remade.
9 years ago, wow i remember gettin this game, it was dec 2014. It really doesn’t feel like I got that game that long ago I still have it I haven’t played it since at least 2016/17, my 3ds circle pad is messed up sadly so I’d have to get a new one ngl or fix it
Pros: Gave both villains more motives besides "moar wotah, moar lan"
Wally actually has a character conclusion. Our rival does something. We had more battles with megas.
The Delta Episode... Nothing to say.
Cons: It's Gen 6 so it's EZ-PZ.
You get a mega LEGENDARY in the 4/5th gym.
Could someone tell me what the first game at the end of the video was? Thank you.
Games not out yet, Persona 3
@@b1bbly Cool, thank you.
i will always love this game, and gen 6. gen 6 online features were the best pokemon had.

Im remember this game after pokemon X end Y resised they make next Omega Ruby end Alpha Safayer
Amazing games. The last pokemon games i played. Good times
God u loved oras, played the ever loving shit outta those games, one of the rare times I got both versions
Just purchased a ds xl with all gen games 1-7. I stopped playing years ago around diamond and pearl era. As soon as I got my ds I started with alpha sapphire and omega ruby and my goodness, these games are definitely in my top 5 of all time. Such beautiful and super fun games. Finished black and white base and black and white 2 along with platinum. All are just perfect games. Well worth 200 bux buying that xl ds.
Is it modded?
I haven’t played beyond the third generation but I’m considering getting my first ds so I can play This
Dude I remember being so excited for this game and running over to GameStop to pick up my preorder. I beat the game in 1 day. I still own my copy.
