    The brand new 2020 Cadillac CT4 and CT5 replace the old ATS and CTS in the brand's sedan lineup, but are they drastically better than the old cars? In this buddy review, Roman and Tommy drive the CT4 Premium Luxury and the new CT5 V-Series to see whether they're better than Cadillac's old sedans and, perhaps more importantly, better than their German rivals.

    Food for thought: you guys may be seeing some skewed 0-60 times. I noticed in some cars, you have to turn the wheel harder to get on the on-ramp. Plenty of stability control systems will dial back the power if you apply wide open throttle while inputting a certain angle of steering.

    A simple visit to cadillac.com reveals that the ct4 and ct5 V in their current forms are replacing the V-sport of previous generation Cadillacs. The true performance cars are now under the Blackwing moniker and there is a supercharged V8 version of the CT5 coming (with a true manual transmission). You're making a review video on cars and you didn't even visit the manufacturer website for info on them? Come on. It's a pretty well known fact that there are more powerful versions of these coming. It takes minimal effort to find that out. Also who does a turning 0-60 and then gets disappointed that it takes longer than expected? Lol gtfo here 🤣

    @Hammy16 Před 4 lety +11

    Wow... where to begin... I'm very disappointed with you two. First of all, the CT4 is competing in the A3/CLA-class segment. The CT5, while "replacing" the ATS and CTS, is competing in the A4/3/C-class segment, NOT the A6/5/E-class. To your Cadillac luxury complaint, I would submit that the rest of the market is doing ride and chassis tuning like the Germans so if Cadillac didn't, they wouldn't be competing. If the market didn't want that ride, nobody would make any of those cars that way. To the BMW sales point, the market is trending to crossovers; the Tesla doesn't compete with the 3-series. Remember, horsepower numbers don't tell the whole story. Power may be down but if performance metrics are the same or similar, does it matter? Your comparisons and analogies are so out of touch. You can do better. You have done better. Do your research and do better.

The most eye pleasing dash was the Mercedes. But they all use lots of plastics, some just covered in more fake metals than others. Worked on lots of German cars and trust me their interior quality does not hold up to the AZ heat. Ive replaced countless window regulators and lock mechanisms along with trim pieces.

    Man, these cars look like serious penalty boxes! It's crazy to think for similar money you can get a Tesla Model 3 Performance! The success of these cars absolutely _relies_ on people being misinformed and outright lied to about the Model 3 and electric cars in general. The Model 3 Performance would accelerate to 60 in _under half_ the time the CT5 V-Sport did at the same elevation.

    Um, neither of these cars competes in the segments they used to. The CT4 competes against the smaller class of car vs the ATS. And the CT5 no longer competes in the mid size luxury class, the CTS competed against the 5-Series and the E-Class. The CT5 competitors now are the 3-Series and A4.
    The CTS had a MSRP that's $10,000 more than the CT5. In reality the CTS doesn't have a successor.

  • @choosumfat
    @choosumfat Před 4 lety

    I keep watching all those CT5 videos (nice review BTW) because a variant of it is on my short list of cars to get next year. I think it looks absolutely fantastic. BUT. It is in no way a German competitor, at least not on the level it's being implied. If I had the money for a 5-series, this Caddy wouldn't even be on the horizon. "Ah! so you don't have the money for a BMW; here, a much cheaper just as good alternative". Lol, no. We may be able to produce cars on the cheap(er) but it's not because we're better. Quality and performance still costs x-amount of money, brand-sucker markups notwithstanding. The primary reason our stuff is cheaper, is because we cut corners. A lot of corners. Also, there's no such thing as American Luxury; that ended some time in the 60s when America was still growing, innovating and most of the rest of the world poor as shit. It is just luxury or not now. "American Luxury" for a long while now has been synonymous with tacky interiors, plentiful but cheap amenities, wallow ride and god-awful build quality. Lincoln tried with their Continental. Beautiful concept, nice attempt, hardly anyone bought the final product, and now it's dead. Nobody wants "American Luxury", not in the least those who can afford it. And this CT5 is not a luxury car; it's not a performance car. It's just a nice (hopefully good) car at its intended price-pint and size. Anyhow, I'll have mine in Royal Spice Metallic which I'm hearing Cadillac may drop for next year. Oh FFS.

    • @wesleywalls7582
      @wesleywalls7582 Před 4 lety

      choosumfat I’d suggest driving one before proclaiming this isn’t a German sports sedan competitor. I own a 335i manual and a current gen B9 Audi S4, and having test driven the CT5-V, I was thoroughly impressed. It’s a brilliant car, in spite of this mediocre video. The reviews are largely super positive about the car. I’d suggest reading Motor Trend’s review in particular.

    • @mybro727
      @mybro727 Před 3 lety

      Correction: Nobody wants American luxury from *Lincoln.* They have no clue what luxury performance is. If they did, the Lincoln Continental would’ve been RWD not the 7 passenger family hauling Lincoln Aviator. Lincoln, Tesla, and Cadillac aren’t t one in the same. You cannot generalize American luxury and claim Americans in general are lost. Wallow is a characteristic of a fat, heavy, FWD, Lincoln Continental. Test drive a Cadillac CT6 and wallow is the furthest thing from your mind.
      To say our stuff is cheaper because we cut corners, yet y’all praise brands like Genesis/Hyundai/KIA for offering all these features and interiors that LOOK the luxurious and upscale part but there’s zero skepticism about the quality control there especially at their price points? That makes zero sense. Americans are just silly. Period.

    • @tri3pleagent
      @tri3pleagent Před 3 lety

      Just look at where we are. Lincoln is the only Luxury marque that's basically taking a different approach...they have no cars and, essentially, no performance oriented vehicles. They have some potential powertrians, but not a single vehicle with any real performance aspirations. That's about as "American Luxury" as you're going to get.

  • @Name-kd5jj
    @Name-kd5jj Před 4 lety +1

    A big 4 cylinder in a luxury car? You back in the 1930s they would put V12 and V16 engines in luxury cars for a reason. The more cylinders you have the smoother it runs, not only that but the smaller the cylinders the smoother it is. So a big 4 cylinder is going to have lots of vibration and noise. Not ideal for a luxury car is it? I'm a GM guy but maybe GM was smart for getting out of the car game, maybe they should just stick with trucks.

    • @Name-kd5jj
      @Name-kd5jj Před 4 lety

      @Der Schwindel Well its not so much about power and more about smoothness. People who drove the CT6 with the 2.0 said it ran very rough and was not befitting of a car of that sort. So a much larger 2.7 liter in a smaller cheaper car will be very rough most likely. Maybe i'm wrong, they didn't say that it was rough in this video or maybe i missed it.

    The CT4 0-60 is way off! The ATS with the 3.6 and an 8 speed at sea level is running mid 5 seconds to 60. How is the CT4 doing a 7.4 0-60 when it’s a turbo charged engine has a 10 speed auto and has 65 pound of torque more than a ATS!!! Sure it’s a mile above sea level but it’s turbo charged and has way more torque!!! Those numbers should be closer🤷🏻‍♂️

    Gm definitely took 2 steps back with the new Cadillacs. Why keep changing the names of the cars. They should have kept the previous names for familiarity. These 2 don't even know what class each car compete in. For example the Escalade has a name that people identify with. The average driver don't know the difference between a CT4 and CT5, so it loses brand recognition.
