I sure don't want a turbo 4 cyl. engine I would rather see them making it a option to have a updated 4 liter with a 8 or 10 speed transmission. The small turbo engines are not going to hold up!
Unfortunately, Toyota is probably going to use the 2.4 liter turbo four from the Tacoma. Maybe the Hybrid Max version could be used as well. No other Toyota will be using that old 4.0 liter V6.
Why not? The o.g. 4R had a 22RE they last forever lol
I want a 6 cylinder
Outstanding Thumbnail and Editing, like usual. I think your editing team deserved a raise!
You think so?
I honestly wouldn’t be mad at a baby sequoia
I agree.
V6 all the way!
Everyone is so critical 😂 i love the aggressive design. Still going to get the 1958 landcruiser 😊
I know one thing, it's gonna be more than I'm willing to pay.
💯
hopefully it makes my low mile '21 more valuable
No 3rd row seat is needed on off road vehicle. What’s needed is the deck for under storage tools and luggage on top.
I understand, but it will be optional.
@@nwezetx1 what will be optional?
I want the flip up deck Toyota eliminated about 2015: My 2006 runs great and has the deck and will not be replaced until Toyota brings back that deck.
@@sunahnuff LOL, I was addressing the 3rd row. Since it's been revealed, you pretty much know already.
I already knew the 3rd row would be offered in the 2025, since 2022.
If it doesn't have a V6, the outgoing model will still be worth mega bucks.
You can think that, but that's not a given. I would be surprised if they start giving discounts on 2024s or older 5 gens (alleged anecdotally) considering what you said about prices on pre-2025s going up due to the V6.
I think all 4Runners will be very pricey for the average buyer, but it's always been an expensive vehicle going back to the 80s.
A 1996 4Runner Limited V6 cost more than a base Mercedes-Benz sedan of the same year.
As an owner of a 5th gen, I love that rendering.
TTV6 would be awesome!
Happy to see the possibilities coming true. I have to wonder how good a V6 they could develop if they weren’t being “urged” to regulate the emissions so much. They should limit the hybrid power trains in the 4Runner to keep the price from competing with their higher end models.
Excellent point, it's quite unfortunate. The weird thing is, TTV6 was considered for the new 4Runner TRD Pro and then vetoed on premise the Land Cruiser wouldn't be offered with it either.
my 2003 4R had a v8 and the other engine was the 4L v6. Maybe they could put in the turbo 4 hybrid and the twin turbo v6 in option, like the Tundra ;).
Hopefully the TTV6 is on the table for a special edition, but for anything else, never expect it or a 6 cylinder.
hi Dave cant wait til April 9
Us as well
Looks sharp.
The rendering is assuming they use the Taco front... what if Toyota use the front style of the Land Curiser?
You're not paying any attention. Factually, it's essentially the same fascia as the Tacoma. You'll see that.
These what if? devil's advocate theories are a waste of space. (What if it will have a removable top? What if it will keep the V6?)
Land Cruiser suggestion makes zero sense, giving an impression you don't understand automotive marketing and product planning.
The risk of cannibalization is already so likely, that your theory is redundant.
Land Cruiser deliberately looks different.
If it gets 3 pedals, im definitely buying one regardless of what hamster is powering it under the hood.
Ok, we get our roll down back window. Awesome. Now, the big question: is the 6 sp MT coming or what?
Oh yes, and has our beloved manual transfer case shift lever gone by the wayside? I have a feeling we’ll get the electronically actuated knob.
@@unspecifiednunayerbiznis2134The lever is gone, selector it is.
I'd like to see one in your driveway too.
gonna miss those fangs though
Here’s what to expect. Upgraded electronics, a turbo 4 cylinder engine with hybrid options, and a higher price tag. The trend is obvious with the Tacoma, Tundra, and Sequoia changes
Will there be a full spare tire on the 2025 Toyota 4Runner? Nobody seems to want to address this.
We assume yes but till we officially know
You're not going to know about such a minor detail like that. Won't even be addressed at reveal.
I hope it has a power liftgate.
You’ll only have two options SR5 and the PRO. Front will be similar to 5th gen. 😊
If No 6 cyl. = ME NO BUY !
We all hate the underpowered 6 cylinder though 😂
@@joshuagray5094It’s not the V6 horsepower that bothers me, it’s the crap ass gas mileage.
When?
It will be a hybrid 4 cyl like everything else.
6 cylinder naturally aspirated 5 speed for the win.
why can't we get their 4 cyl turbo diesel in NA?
Sadly emissions keep them away now
@@AllTerrainNation How do US automakers get around this? More when they make some Diesel engines with very large displacements
If this is the new 4runner then forget about it. I'll keep my current 4runner thank you.
K then.
Did you say 2024 4runner in your opening remark?
Yes I didn’t catch it till we uploaded
I'm glad Toyota is keeping it alive but with all the hybrids and major price increases from the brand lately on trucks it will be a miss IMO.
My guess is that the 4Runner appearance will be similar to the Tacoma. Seems silly to have both 4Runner and Land Cruiser in same price range so they could just have the 2.4 turbo here and leave hybrid to Land Cruiser. But my guess is they will copy Tacoma with non-hybrid lower end and hybrid on top trims.
Yes, as you expect. Indecisiveness resulted in this situation within product planning, hoping to reach as many buyers as possible.
Nit-picking, but i like the Sequoia horizontal taillights better and if this 4R doesn’t make over 300 hp that will be a huge fail from Toyota.
Dude, you have to be smarter than that. You're not getting more than 300, unless you get the hybrid version.
It's the same as the Tacoma, plain and simple. Stop having ridiculous expectations, you know will not be met. The info is well known at this point.
@@nwezetx1 it sounds like Toyota needs to be smarter than that. Its their fail, not mine. I have a V8 GX 460 that is better than the Taco and 4R. Now what, smart guy? The new 4 popper LC is also a fail on their part. A 4 cyl. LC? That is so embarrassing and I’m a huge Toyota fan, btw.
@@Silverfox1982 You're honestly not being sensible, to be on this page complaining then. It is too late to be complaining about the obvious, which should've set in once you saw the other redesigns in 2021, 2022, and last year.
Surely a GX 550 or its competitors are what you should be focused on? Not the base offering of the midrange SUVs?
The midlevel Land Cruiser Prado has never done better than a 4.0L NA V6 for gas vehicles, so your expectations are misplaced. The 4Runner briefly had a V8 to rival the Trailblazer and Explorer. Those are now gone or unibody TTV6.
You can huff and puff about it, but the GX 550 exists for customers like you. I find it stupid the 250 doesn't offer the turbocharged V35A, but that's corporate making odd decisions that betray USA requests.
You people annoying complain about no V8, negating this issue comes from the top of the chain 300 Series loosing a V8 in the first and triggering a domino effect.
The second the stupid chief of the 300 program agreed to not offer a V8 about 10 years ago for the flagship redesign, this handicapped every TNGA-F model below it, forcing midsize models into being turbo 4s at best.
These complaints are too little, too late. People told you guys this for years and you didn't believe em and mocked em too. Now it's becoming official, you're pounding your chests like you call the shots.
The 2.4L turbo has been leaked since 2019 as the next generation engine, but now it's too late to beg for changes. You're not getting 300 hp, unless you get the 326 hp hybrid. Otherwise, buy a GX or go somewhere else for the time being.
@@nwezetx1 How is insensible to expect more from the largest car company in the world? There is no reason that the 4R couldn’t make 300 hp. Give it a detuned version of the 3.4T, GX could make 349 and 4R 300ish. Also, don’t even pretend that the new GX wasn’t also rumored to possibly get the turbo 4 within weeks of its release from reputable sources.
You keep replying to me like I was planning on buying one of them. I already got mine, I’m just concerned for Toyota’s direction they’re headed and disappointed. That is all. Thanks for spirited conversation. Cheers🍻
@@Silverfox1982 300ish? I don't think that's necessary. Too low tbh, if using the turbo V6 engine.
2.4T should've been offered still, with the 3.4 V6 offered in 4Runner TRD Pro and Trailhunter at 345 hp or hybrid 4 at 326.
Land Cruiser V6 at 348 in First Edition and later availability in future MY top trim.
GX 550 should've been 380-390, then upgrading LX 600 to 414 for 2025 and LX 700h at 480.
GX 550h 2.4L hybrid is instead being sold alongside the 3.4L GX 550, while the rest (250, 4R) make due with strictly 4 cylinders.
I have known this for at least 7 years now, when it was highlighted that no new naturally aspirated V6 blocks would be developed per a detailed documentation.
I'm just mad some people are barely having this conversation, when it's too late to make a difference. Back in 2019-21 these warnings about the 2.4T could've been taken seriously and fought against. Instead it was a bunch of "trust me bro" skepticism. Well, it's happened lol.
Corporate Toyota is copying the extremes Ford has taken on past vehicles, but doubled down in worse ways.
Ecoboost became the top engine in some upper F-150 trims and the last generation Expedition. Toyota did the same thing to the Land Cruiser 300 and other full size SUVs. Ranger debuts with no V6, only I4T because the design couldn't fit V configuration engines yet.
Toyota goes with a 2.4T for the Tacoma in response, considers V35A V6, vetoes it ultimately leaving I4 only.
Well, there's your answer.
Take the current engine and direct inject it. You get more ponies
3L straight 6 supercharged would have been unique
Yes unicorns are a great thing. TTV6 was considered for both Tacoma TRD Pro and 4Runner TRD Pro, plus TH. They suspended plans, but likely won't be made for 2027.
Its funny how everyone is complaining about an engine that has been around since 2017 😂
Which engine? The TTV6 V35A-FTS? Otherwise, nothing else is that age engine wise at Toyota (trucks), except naturally aspirated engines like the current one.
5th Gen will be missed ..2019 Voo Doo Blue
I’m with you but remember.. the Tacoma had its own personality too.. now it’s a smaller tundra..
Great point
Not really. The Tundra became a larger Tacoma and the Tacoma carried over the same elements as its predecessors, albeit with new tech left and right.
The Tacoma isn't solely a mini Tundra.
@@nwezetx1I received that
@@Anthob22 I get folks disappointment with the heavy tech, turbo engines, and small backseat, but I remember when the Tundra got revealed in September 2021, the head of Toyota truck design, hinted that the 2024 Tacoma was very similar looking. He even showed us the new Tacoma, 2 years early as an EV concept with a fake grille.
I think they realized, old Tundra sales sucked bad and tried to copy the Tacoma, but neutered the new Tacoma engine selection to allow the Tundra to breathe.
Buying my Terra TRD PRO 4runner in 2 weeks.
I don't like the C-piller style. It looks like an italicised I.
Toyota sequoia
Not fond of that rendering’s front. Looks like a Sequoia
Weird theory.
It a theory, it’s an opinion.
@@BirdDogOffRoadAdventures Looks nothing like a Sequoia.
@@nwezetx1 Does to me. Doesn't have the lean/masculine look of the 5th gen.
@@BirdDogOffRoadAdventures Smh, wait to see the official press images...
I wouldn't be more let down if it has a Taco front end like the lazy ass Gladiator. It better have a bespoke front because it sure looks like they are dumping the taco interior in it yet will probably increase the price, even though they are saving $.
Nah, only the shareholders shall benefit. It's mostly Tacoma to the casual observer, but keen observers will see some small differences.
Hint: 4Runner and Tacoma were developed at the same time and both new designs were finalized in 2020, but unlike the Tacoma, the 4Runner was delayed significantly.
Cannot wait and for anyone upset about the 4 banger with a turbo your being silly I’ve had nx 300 f sport for 6 years 110 k km not one problem .
current model looks better. no thank you toyota for ugly design. new landcruiser design is good though.
Well, then buy one instead. Choices exist for that reason.
If the rendering you showed is the actual vehicle I just have one word “Ugly”. I guess it will be a 2025 Ford Explorer ST in the driveway for me😂
What childish drivel. Apples and oranges. YT (audience) attracts such know nothings like a moth to a flame.
I hope they keep a V6 and not an in-line, 4 force turbo
It's pretty clear you've not been following development lol...
