You're taking on that risk when you agree to let someone track your car like this. Misha is doing the right thing by replacing it, but it's hard to say if he's doing it regardless of the fact he has the audience he makes his money from to answer to. Who knows, but replacing the car is the least he can do. Maybe the braking issue is true, but it's also possible he slipped. I find it quite odd that he's completely dismissing the possibility for a forensic analysis of the brakes. Maybe there's something I don't understand that makes that impossible, but when you're talking about donating the chassis for research, it doesn't seem to add up logically.

Six-point harnesses and especially the roll cage literally saved your life. I would never take my car to those speeds on the track without a roll cage.
So glad to see you guys are alright and in good spirits as it could have been a very different story right now. Hope you both well and safe on your future endeavours on the track.
Now is a good time to reflect on all the older, not so safe, or maybe questionably maintained cars you've driven at the limit, with full trust, and passengers/owners on board. It truly was only a matter of time, and youre lucky it wasnt worse.
Couldnt put it better myself.. I feel misha is tempting fate. Some of the laps seem very dangerous
Older cars don't have the technology that failed this M4. My E30 for example does not know what ESP or ABS is, so these technologies can not fail me on the track. Maintenance is something that does have to be taken seriously, especially when you take your car out on the Ring and drive it the way it was meant to be.
I have a 1993 V1 Subaru WRX. Very fast, only 1200kg (280hp) but ive stopped driving it on tracks. I know that any crash 60mph+ im pretty much dead. (I dont want to add roll cage to keep it original).

Perfect example of how cars are designed to sacrifice themselves, and NOT the passengers. BIG kudos to the BMW engineers, built a great car. Glad you guys are OK, that must have been scary AF.
Yeah, a really good car is the one that - in similar circumstances - kills itself, but lets you walk away just fine (or with minor injuries). And this is one of the reasons why I, myself, prefer to drive German cars (bigger ones, just like this one - I now own my second C-Class estate): they're just built better. And, if that's true, I don't mind to pay more for the car, as long as it can keep me safe in case of trouble
Auto tech of 20 years here, disconnecting the airbag module easily saved you a couple grand. I would def not try to rebuild this but if its only a track car why not.
Anything thats cast aluminum/steel i would replace, you cant see stress cracks and it might be worse if you crash again. This 100% for sure needs a frame machine and for sure alignment when done. I dont ever mess with crashed cars for that particular reason, theres always damage you cant see.
Glad you're alright Misha :).
I’ve personally always lived by the rule that you never let anyone drive/ride your baby.
It still amazes me how people went from relatively sane to absolute lunatics as soon as they got behind the wheel of my car. Never again.. Trust no-one!

The voice of reason finally.
Imagine watching this channel just because this guy gets to give you footage of lapping all these different cars around the 'ring, and then turning up your nose when they ask for *completely voluntary donations* - "free" just isn't ever good enough
you sure know how much it cost/you earn for that type of content/job... unless you are at the very top, it likely not even pay the bills...
@@RyTrapp0 yeah because it’s like a millionaire asking you to voluntarily donate money to them. Do you know how much money a channel like Mishas would generate? I’m not saying don’t donate, I’m just saying you’re an idiot to do so hahah
You don't know their bank account. Then don't donate if that's how you feel but don't say stuff like this. We are also talking about two human lifes here that very fortunately are ok. There will be a lot of people that will donate with or without your negativity.
Assumptions and speculation ahead: If the ABS was still on and you had wheels lock on full compression (something bent or not enough space in the wheel wells), but not all of them, the ABS would lock out all those wheels when you are breaking, explaining why your pedal went hard. Having a non-race programmed ABS on a car modified to this degree is often better than not having an ABS, but in this case it might have made the situation worse. When building the new car, please make sure that there is enough space in the wheel wells so full compression won't lock the wheels and if possible, put in a race grade ABS system that will hopefully make the car better controllable in race conditions.
Koenigsegg had a crash also due to bosch ABS failure. All manmade things are failing sometimes.
If there is any type of logging going on then they might be able to see what actually happened.
Maybe a pinched brake hose as well.
You put so much trust in other people's builds. I couldn't go flat out in some random vehicle without testing. It's like going into battle with an untested rifle.
Misha will obviously die on the ring like a true ringwarrior.
absolutely. when were brakes bled last? how old are the tires? coolant properly flushed? too many variables and things to go wrong...
Yep, this. I've said it before but Misha is taking far too much risk here. This will not be the last serious accident he has if he keeps doing this. He's a great guy, I love watching the youtube channel, but I fear if he keeps doing this for long enough it's not going to end well.
I agree, it's like people who handle venomous animals, the odds say, "One day."
and I thought those were just my thoughts on this...
Mate we aren't going to pay for a car you crashed
Lookes like a write-off - it actually seems stupid to even suggest a rebuild. If it is doable - it will NEVER find a new owner 🤔
Maybe bmw can look at the data in the airbag module to try to give you some answers, if it is still in place, may not have deployed airbags etc but crash data is stored and locked after an impact, it records lots of different parameters about brakes, steering , engine etc, be interesting to know more about the cause of the hard brake pedal
Next video
You mean the so called FASTA- Data. They have nothing to do with the Airgbag- SG. These datas get recorded all the time and get stored. From this data you can see for example, wich wheel in this crash were blocked, at wich brakecaliper's the brakingpressure got to high or to low. From the pictures and the telling I think, there was a malfunction from ABS and DSC occured from a blocking wheel or the malfunction occured one or more blocking wheels. What occured the malfunction? Its just a guess: maybe 1 or 2 Brakepipe (or hose? Didnt know the right word) got squeezed. In this case the ABS/DSC would notice a paranormal rpm difference between the wheels. This causes the DSC/ABS to try to balance the difference. But the hydro- unit cannot lower the pressure of the blocking wheel, because the brakepipe is squeezed. So maybe the DSC decides to get the brakingpressure higher at the wheel on the diagonal opposite wheel to stabilize the car. The working ABS/DSC would explain the stiff brakepedal. Because the hydro- unit was trying to regulate the brakingpressure. Because of the compression and possible sqeezed Brakingpipe, the ABS was no able to balance the pressure. In other words: ABS/DSC noticed an implausible drive- condition: 1 blocking wheel to 3 spinning wheels at for the speed normal rpm. ABS/DSC was not able, to get the blocking wheel(s) free. As we all know: a blocked wheel cannot take cornering force and is not able to change it direction. My theorie explains some things of the things are telled: stiff Brakepedal, car go straight, not able to control or steer, white smoke on the picture. It might sound insane, but lift the brakepedal to lower the requiered pressure on the brakes could helped , to get the brakes free and than fully get in. Im not stupid: in such a situation, no one think about lowering the brakes. I think, Misha got the experience, to decide in fragments of seconds, how to steer the car for the best possible outcome. And this happened by instinct. His great skills saved 2 lives. Sorry for my bad english
@@supersix3285 That was my thought as well. I've had a moment like you describe with the ABS in my FR-S, thankfully only at autocross at low speeds and didn't hit anything but cones. In my case I believe a combination of funky road camber and cornering forces made the inside front wheel very light, the ABS reacted in a way I'd expect from the car being on ice. I got almost zero braking force until I straightened the car then released and reapplied the brakes. I'm but a humble sim racer as far as Nürburgring experience goes, but I can't imagine trying to resolve the same kind of situation at full speed in that part of the track.
@@supersix3285 that's interesting theory, is it not easy to accept it because next time when you will be driving BMW it will be question of trust - do you trust that ABS/DSC software won't kill you in non-standard driving situation next time ?
@@MartinVich it's not right to question the trust in BMW or the M GmbH. Because the M4 is a well rounded car in it's original condition. Glad you are ok btw 👍
it definitely makes sense from the 'crash compilation' perspective.
The reasoning (not that I agree fully with it) is: If showing crashes is allowed there would be the risk that someone would try to crash purposefully in a spectacular way for the clicks. Another reason is then also the crashes of others would be shown even if they don't even agree or can't because they died or are in the hospital. And last too many stories about crashes would be bad for the public opinion of the track and would cut into the business.
Probably bad for investors and sponsors , when it known as one of the dangerous race track, also helps to stop media news channels to publish it i guess
I'm sure Auto Addiction uploading compilations of almost exclusively Nordschleife crashes has something to do with it. Whether someone was seriously hurt, or they're just not okay with it, or it attracts the wrong people, who knows. But I hadn't seen so many crash videos get uploaded from any other track.

Hi Misha. I’m a physiotherapist in Australia, and of course, a long time fan of yours.
I’m really glad to hear that you (and your passenger/owner) have no immediate damage to yourselves from your accident. However, unless you are built with ‘bullet proof connective tissues genes’, please take it easy for the next month or two. Every high accelerative and decelerative load your spine undergoes in your life can lead to long term osteoarthritic change, especially as your spine ages in later life. If you look after your neck and upper back now then this should minimise those outcomes in the future.
This is not just my opinion but is based on long term research into spinal injuries.
I look forward to more of your videos but please take it easy for at least a month or so to let your soft tissue injuries heal. I waited to see both of ur videos,I watched the newest one then this one,it is legitimately extraordinary how you two are both here, bless that chassis for serving it’s purpose and giving its life for you two, keep going hard and always go with your instincts with wearing helmets for cars that have different safety features rather then stock ones,im glad you’re okay the world really wouldn’t be the same without you guys 🤝
Happy to see you guys smiling. ❤
You were definitely protected.
That door still opening and closing like it does after going into the wall at the upper limits of speed on THAT side says A LOT about the structural integrity of that car. HUGE kudos to BMW!! It’s incredible that that engine didn’t plow in through the firewall in any way. So glad you both got out seemingly unscathed, but this definitely puts a gold star on BMW safety, that’s for sure. 👍🏻😎👍🏻
Happy to see you both are all ok! Thanks for sharing the story.
Bro glad you both are safe and alive.
Bro you survived another one. Glad you're still with us. 🙏
Personally I wouldn't feel comfortable using a car for racing that has already been crashed because there's always parts that are damaged but not visible. Buy a new one. Buy a new helmet too. Never trust a helmet that has been hit. Don't ponder on what ifs. You'll make yourself sick and you'll lose interest. Accept the risks of racing or bow out while you're still alive.
Glad you are ok, this is really impressive how the car manage the crash, the “life cell” is in good shape for a “no brake” crash.
If this happen to me, I think I never go back to a track, be careful mate
Truly glad you are both ok guys. Man, that is some damage it just shows the strength and safety of the car.
1:00 his car is totaled. What do you expect him to say bro 😂
The 'Ring' is a legendary beast, but even legends have weaknesses. Professional drivers understand this. They meticulously prepare their machines, ensuring every system is at peak performance. They wouldn't dream of pushing a car to it's limits that hasn't been rigorously inspected and serviced.
This applies tenfold when you're behind the wheel of someone else's car, especially one that's been modified. Trust in professional mechanics, not in wishful thinking. Untested modifications by amateurs are ticking time bombs on a racetrack.
Let this be the catalyst for a frank and honest conversation. The racetrack is a place to test your own skill, not the limits of an unproven machine. There's nothing wrong with pushing boundaries, but do it with a car you know intimately, a car that's been meticulously prepared for the challenge and do it alone! Reassess your approach.
Misha, your near-death experience highlights the immense risks you take. While you may accept them, reconsider the impact on those who ride with you. The Nürburgring’s danger is undeniable. Professional drivers on solo runs manage their own risk, but involving others adds a heavy layer of responsibility. This brush with mortality should prompt a reevaluation of your choices. Your life, and those of your passengers, are precious. Take care.
Thing is with Misha, he thinks he's a professional because he drove around the track so many times. It doesnt work like that.
Thats a thing,msh too
Exactly. Fuck driving someone else’s car to the limit.
@@ABlockBeats how does it work then???
@@ABlockBeatshe is a professional driver, he’s driven in races before.
Good for ur responsability
Glad u r ok
Your worst crash at the Nürburgring? How many times have you crashed there? I'm surprised they let you drive around it
Bimmerworld noted that when the rear is lowered with shorter bump stops there is a binding moment in the geometry and the axle can bottom out on the chassis when the bumpstop compresses. When they spec MCS for this application they have longer bumpstops in the rear to help prevent the issue
So what you're saying is the brake lines could have been pinched?
@@itIsI988 yes
Bump stops? Every Honda owner will trim down the stock strut springs to achieve the desired ride height instead of upgrading to an adjustable suspension. Easy reciprocating saw hack
@@luislongoria6621 that's cool, but when you are running a coil over with custom bump stop sizing and durometer some things change a bit
@@luislongoria6621 not every owner, just the poor ones.
You destroy , you pay
Simple as that, I don't know what everyone down here is on.

Indeed, if you bend it you've bought it. He's acting as if he's doing the guy a favour 😂
Büyük geçmiş olsun Misha
i am glad your both are okay i am sorry about the crash and the car
It’s inevitable, the amount of laps you put in, it happens to all who race. Glad you guys are ok, be safe my friend. Sometimes it’s fine to drive a little slower we will still love your videos!
It’s different when it’s someone else’s car. He’s not racing he’s giving someone else an experience by driving their car. He shouldn’t be on the limit to the point where he is crashing multiple cars a year. You can blame whatever mechanical faults you want but the truth is over 3 cars crashed in less than a year is not good enough
This video feels a lot like Misha hurt his little brother and telling him, "Don't tell mom! Don't tell mom!" Jokes aside, I'm glad he's going to make things right. And I'm also glad both of you are safe.
As someone who races and has known a few people that have died on track, holy shit dude, hearing you talk about how lucky you were with that guard rail post choked me up a bit and damn near brought tears to my eyes... Crashes like these weigh heavy on the people that share the track with you.. Glad you're alive.
You owe him a new car
Good to hear everyone is ok
Bro casually donating to someone who makes 430k a month + sponsors, merch etc.
Als je onderdelen wil hergebruiken dan moet je zo snel mogelijk het bluspoeder van het motorblok halen want anders kan je alles weggooien😢 het bluspoeder tast alles aan en geeft uiteindelijk overal corrosie
Glad that you guys are ok !
Happy to hear you're both alright.
We should honor how straight and direct you Tell your audience what happened and Not stretching Shit for clicks and viewtime. Hard facts, Thats what we Like. Thank you!
Agree, massive respect for being upfront and honest by Micha. Stark reminder that motorsport is dangerous, although we all around here love it big way!
So pleased you are both safe and sound. With that said, I really do feel the guy is owed a new car. It will never be the same and will always be “that crashed M4” from CZcams. I commend you for offering to fix it, but I feel a direct replacement would be more suitable. The risk of driving somebody else’s car unfortunately.
Did you watch the video? They will be building the car from a new chassis.
@@superbeni7297 Exactly, rebuild 🤦🏻♂️
@superbeni7297 building the car with the same specs on a new chassis, lmao

I'm glad you're doing well. Seeing the BMW in this bad condition and that you two got out without any major injuries is nothing short of a miracle. It's crazy what cars these days compensate for with crumple zones.
I’m glad both of you came out of this sort of okay.
Glad to see you're both ok and the community coming together to help you out and get the car back on track. ❤
Rebuild? Man, that thing is as totaled as possible.
Thank god, you're ok.
If he rebuilds it and goes again this time might be fatal .
You should give the video a watch. He specifically says they'd like to donate the chassis to BMW M engineers so they can use it for R&D purposes. They're only going to keep usable parts from this car.
@@DaveScottADV yes I also then understood that they're not rebuilding anything, he's getting him a new car.
but it is confusing for him to have used that word given that there is not going to be any rebuild happening.
Thanks for showing how it happened in AC, it helps a lot putting in picture what actually happens (something that rhe media agreement really inders)
Just buy a new one, you ruined that one.
This is why I don't let people drive my car.
From watching the video. It seems the brake system had major issues. So it wasn't the driver.
pretty sure noone wants to drive ur shitbox anyway so go ahead
@@bakedbean67 in next video at 12:37 the car did behave strangely while breaking which is weird! maybe cold tires but very sus!

Glad you guys are ok looking at the state of the car im amazed how you guys were able to walk out of this one wiouth any big injuries.
