Israel Adesanya vs. Alex Pereira 4 Post Fight Thoughts:
A little late in my Israel Adesanya vs. Alex Pereira prediction, but eventually it came true ;).
The blue print has always been clear since the first two fights:
a) focus on the long range jabs and crosses, and when that overhand is available
b) use left kicks in southpaw
In this fight, Izzy simply got much more advanced at setting these up.
Tactically countering Pereira's aggression when he's up against the cage was beautiful. I wish I could break it down!
I was sad for a whole week after the third fight, but now the prediction has come true and I'm so happy for Izzy to deliver his masterpiece!
After this fight, Izzy said "Be happy my friend x" ;)
nailed it! would love to see a UFC breakdown! let's make it happen!
And he bounced off the cage on the second overhand too.
I think most people forget that Pereira has also a very good fight IQ.
they both do. just one is much higher.
John Jones would have beat his ass worst
…and that one is Alex P, right?
@@christopheranjos2327 yes it is.
Both their iq’s are they top notch, there is no real measurement for that. The fought pereira is up 3-0 and that’s where we r.
Man, Pereira did that again. He got Izzy confident, like other opponents, and then left hook for the TKO.
I bet on Pereira, because of size, technique, and the fact that he’s been fighting against more solid kickboxing competition in Glory.
Everyone kinda forgets Izzy’s fight against Blachowicz when he was loosing while standing and the smaller difference in reach played It’s part, and Jan is a technical striker. But I gotta give him props. No one fighting Adesanya ever thinks he Will have to train takedown defense or clinches, and Izzy put his bet on that and it was working really well.
Good call brother
cheers
Masterful breakdown, just wow. Also, can’t believe you predicted the rise of Israel Adesanya in 2018 and that he would meet Alex Pereira in the UFC. If the fight plays out like you predict, you are the oracle. Thank you for sharing elite fight camp strategizing. HYPED! Honored to subscribe to this channel.
thank you for watching the channel for so many years. I hope the breakdown will allow you to enjoy the fight even more.

Almost played out how he said it would, but Poatan caught him with the left.
I was so hyped to see this pop up precisely because you predicted both these fighters' paths in the UFC so well, so I knew that I could trust you with a comprehensive breakdown. And boy did you deliver. Amazing work.
Thank you for the support. Went all out on this one! Enjoy the fights
I remember when you made your video on Costa vs Izzy, and that prediction was spot on! But Pereira is a whole other beast, excited to see how this plays out.
thank you for staying with my predictions! excited for the fight :). Yes Pereira is a true beast.
Lawrence, you are an absolute GEM not only MMA, but combat sports in general.
Thank you, means a lot
Well, you were right about how this fight *should* have played out. Izzy's right cross was landing almost at will. If only he'd used it more, instead of the ineffective clinch that was just giving a tired Pereira time to rest.
Edit: Apparently Izzy injured his leg at some point during the fight so now the clinching makes a lot more sense.
That’s the fight game for ya
I've been waiting for this! Thanks Lawrence Kenshin for this absolutely mind blowing breakdown!
Thanks so much for the support Aldino!
Excellent breakdown!!
Great work as always, thank you !

I CAN'T WAIT!!! My money is on Adesanya tho with his MMA experience... but you never know. Gonna be an epic fight/fight card regardless. Awesome breakdown as usual LK

Thanks for the video glhf. I'm new to watching combat sports but these vids gave me a great base to enjoy watching and appreciating pro fights. I was also thinking Adesanya had it in the bag if he kept it up but man its hard and he got punished for it.

Interesting breakdown, but i'm suprised you didn't talk much about how each man has grown since their first fight (how their styles have changed). That being said, i do agree with your prediction. great content, keep it up
thank you. each men has indeed grown a lot, but i believe thesis remains similar. I did mention Pereira's changes, but the way to fight him remains same. What is more different is Pereiras approach to IZZY IMO.
Masterful breakdown.
thank you Robert. Appreciate your support.
I think izzy has been forced to evolve from the UFC in a way that Piera has not been forced to yet. So although he’s already down 0/2, I just don’t see him losing on Saturday. And I WANT him to.

I think that It does make the brand look stronger if the longest standing champion ATM keeps his belt. Especially if he retains it from AP.

@@lobo_solo214 reason why, Adesanya does his camp in New Zealand, far far away from USADA! that Gyno seems to come out everytime his trone is at stake 🤔
Steroids does wonders for business 🤣
This isn’t old Alex.
He’s prime, seasoned and learned from his losses just as well as Izzy. Difference is Alex is the best at kickboxing 185 but this is mma with smaller gloves so the person who makes the first mistake might go to sleep
Good video. I think your spot on about how this'll play out.
Cheers
People like you would really make a diference in perereira side, like a advisor. Its unfair that adesanya who is already a tactician, have people like you helping him kkkk. I love your vids and learn a lot from you man, thx for the work!
Unfair
That was by far the deepest insight info I could find here , since I started looking at both of 'em.
I follow Israel since ehmm, the Gastelom fight, so I am Team Izzy 4 sure ! But this Pereira guy is scary!
Great Story, great rival , very entertaining.
Great Video also !
Perreira also isn't afraid of getting hit and doesn't run around like a chicken in his MMA fights.
thanks so much Samet!
Great analysis, this is the stuff that made me subscribe to your channel so long ago, also congrats on getting the predictions right, it's really remarkable.
Considering Glover Teixeira is a training partner of Pereira, it's quite possible that the fight may have some moments where it'll go on the ground. I don't believe that Pereira would intuitively use bjj on a fight like this, but if he's smart and prepared he can definitely use the threat of the takedown to open holes on Israel's striking defense (though considering Glover's style, which is so honest and direct, that may be unlikely).
Thank you so much for the long time support Luc. Super excited to see how this fight plays out.
Maybe I'm a hater, but I never rated Izzy as highly as other people do. Yes he did great against Costa and Whittaker the first time, but what about his other fights? Gastehum hurt him multiple times despite being clearly not elite. He played extremely safe against Vettori and Cannonier. Then there were two extremely close fights against Romero and Whittaker the second time, where I scored against him both times. And there was the Jan fight as well, when he not only got outgrappled, but also outstruck. I just saw him as having a judge-friendly style rather than being dominant.
There were criticisms on his opponents that they weren't willing to play his game, so he was just taking the easy decision bay staying on the outside. Today Alex went right to his face the whole fight, and in reality he couldn't do much beside that shot after the bell. Saying he is the greatest striker in the UFC was ridiculous.
I agree, "best striker" with an amateur level clinch game, yeah nah he ain't the greatest of all time, he's just great at selling himself because he's stylish and good with the press.
You have to keep in mind that MMA is not kickboxing and cannot fight like kickboxing in mma, although he does not wrestle but managed to defend his belt 5 or 6 Time in a Sport Like mma where most champions have a good foundation in wrestling . there are hardly any non-grappling MMA fighters who are so successful in MMA. izzy striking is so good that he beats all-rounders like robert whittaker Twice. he is definitely one of the top 3 Or the best Stricker in mma history.
izzy was good against Alex and he caused Alex a lot of trouble. Alex himself said it was the toughest fight of his career. He even won most of the rounds in that fight, don't get me wrong, he still lost, but to say he didn't do much against Alex is just wrong
If Izzy isn’t elite than Alex isn’t .. 💀
@@kakashi1. I didn't say he wasn't elite I just said he's nowhere near being the goat
Anybody that becomes a Champion should be highly rated in my opinion dude...
Battle of the best kickboxers on mma rules, that's how I define this fight.

Please can you do a breakdown in memoriam of Anthony 'Rumble' Johnson

You have the eagle eyes of striking 😍 I can’t wait for this !!
i love martial arts and sharing it with the world.
I believe that Pereira will win... One strike KO possibillity and explosivity are unmatched. Also, I strongly believe that Pereira is the the better striker. Look at their acomplishment, Izzy was never a Glory champ. On the other hand, Pereira improved much and become a two weight champ.
Izzy should be a Glory champ, he got robbed in the title fight just like he got robbed against Pereira in the first fight. While both of them where kickboxer, Izzy was the more technical, so the better striker, but Pereira got the power and their fight proved this.
But since Pereira continued while Izzy had to faced wrestlers I think Pereira the technical edge vanished.
izzy shouldve been champ
@@LawrenceKenshin I said to you, and I will say it again! Pereira is the best striker which shows why is he a doubpe champ, simething Izzy never could acomplish in Glory kikcboxing, and is more explosive and more powerfull. When Izzy stopped to run and hug, Pereira destroyed him!
Can you please break down dustin poirer strange high elbow defense?
bangisssss...💪
Honestly I don't who wins but I think both might find a Knockout.
quite possible!
For the first time I'm scared for Israel but I'm still behind him
Part of the game
Love your videos big fan from a long time :) I think if Israel will play smart like with Cannonier, he will win. But if Alex will come out strong with Bjj and ground and pound, I think he would have a better chance to win after on the feet, we did see some hole with the ground game of Israel. But it's mma, we can see even a draw after 5 rounds haha
Play smart like with Cannonier after he promised an exciting fight. Izzy just ran around and didn't barely engage. I respect countering but he barely did anything that fight. It was terrible to watch.
@@ryanrogers8211 I know smart fights are "boring", but at the same time he is not a boring fighter and a win it's still a win. But versus Alex he must be really smart if not, night night for Izzy.
thank you for staying with me for so long
@@LawrenceKenshin It is impossible to forget you or unfollow. You are brilliant in what you do, the best in the game :)
@@PatriziToxic all the title fights I’ve seen are boring so yes he’s a boring fighter. He used to be a fun to watch fighter but like happened to both GSP and Josh Koschek back in the day they start only doing enough to barely win. Never really going for the killer instinct or letting loose.
This would've made for a GREAT International Fight Week card BUT I'm glad we're getting it sooner than that.
in a few days!
It would be amazing to see if either man decides to show what wrestling and or BJJ techniques they have learned in this fight.
haha im not sure if that's what we'll see

Can't believe Adysanya lost that boxing match to AP wtffff that's wild...
boxing? it was kickboxing, then mma. they was wrasslin bro, not boxing
Izzy ftw on points. Will be interesting to see the cage work if Pereira can get there. Pereira can impose his physicality and might be able to do good work there.
yes clinch could be interesting!
Adesanya For the Win! - He is hungry for greatness and I don't think he will be stopped. Also, Anime power is too strong :D
yess he's hungry!
gg
You are so wrong. He cannot finished Pereyra despite every advantage, this is pro Adesanya video.
Lol
I’m feeling a Rampage vs Silva vibe coming from this fight. Properly minus the knockout the 3rd fight.
yessss goosebumps
maybe they shoulda hired you. It went exactly how you predicted it would be
Will Izzy's fast long-range attacks, feints, and evasive footwork be enough to beat Pereira, or will Pereira manage to find the openings to catch and KO Izzy again, or who'll run or clinch up first when tagged and stunned, interesting to see what'll happen now that it's in MMA
POST FIGHT THOUGHTS HERE
Well, both Alex Pereira and Israel Adesanya fought as predicted in my UFC 281 blueprint. Adesanya out landed Pereira with straight punches in orthodox and scored kicks throughout the fight. The right hand was open to hurt Pereira and thats what he hurt him with early on.
However, I said to never count Pereira out no matter which round. Pereira reserved some energy late and then poured on the pressure like he always does.
I predicted Izzy to win and wanted him to win, but this is the fight game. Pereira did what we said he would do in his path to victory.
What did you think of the fight?

yeah the fight was legendary literally plays out almost exactly as the same in 2017 its like pereira was born to ko adesanya
History repeat itself
Deja vu
Absolutely CRUSHED by Alex. Damn! 🤔
I was really disappointed with the fight, specifically Izzy's decision to keep clinching. In the first few rounds, he was absolutely outclassing Pereira in the striking by doing what you suggested. And nothing wrong with _trying_ the clinch (it even got him a free round through top control) but why did he _keep_ doing it over and over again when it wasn't working, he didn't need it and it was just giving a hurt and tired Pereira time to recover?
It's really frustrating. That's 3 times now Pereira has beaten Adesanya despite not fighting nearly as well. Anyway, I'm not trying to be an entitled fan here; obviously Izzy's disappointment will be far greater than all of ours put together.
Po atan is fr a giant threat to izzy as much as I love and was rooting for him in his MMA career. I ain’t betting on anyone this time.
we win as fans!
Great analysis Lawrence. I think Izzy will prevail 💪🏼
thanks so much man!
He didn’t
I've got Izzy winning, but I have a feeling this ciuld turn into a brawl in the last round.
Could be
Alex Pereira looks like Scott Adkins from Avengement.
Imagine a nerd critiquing poatang
Adesanaya got more MMA rules experience. Thinking to put some money on Adesanya
good pick imo
How much money did you lose?
@@ahmedbukhamsin4733 didn't invested any as rate on Adesanya was poor lol. Glad I didn't pull the trigger even better humble fighter won.
Getting 1.40 return wasn't worth it to bet against Pereira I was going to bet if rate was atleast 1.65
Even IF Adesanya was “winning” those bouts, that was Alex before he became the p4p best in the world. Adesanya couldn’t cut it against the best kickboxers in the world and has been fighting subpar strikers since. If he doesn’t have anything other than striking to trouble Alex with, he will lose. Alex is the better striker, period.
Fair enough but Izzy style is more suited for MMA now and he was already the better striker before. He would just be the better MMA striker this time, again.
And it’s not "even IF", it’s "even though" because he was winning those 2 fights without a doubt.
izzy became goat after pereira too. and what do you mean he couldnt cut it? he beat wilnis in most ppl's eyes.
@@LawrenceKenshin Ok dude, are we just going to do this revisionist angle? Aren’t you supposed to be objective? And the GOAT of what? Not kickboxing. Again, 2-2 vs the best in the world.
You overvalue the Israel pillow punches in their first matchup. One of Alex's hits is equivalent to more than 5 ineffectual punches no matter how "clean." If you're not putting anything into your punches because your too tentative and are just content with outpointing your opponents go box or do karate.
Pereira punches didn’t do anything in that fight…
How big can the middle weights become ?
I hear 230.......
First I like your comments, even though you didn't get this one right and that's understandable cause, as you said, a fight is a fight.
I think the only thing more stupid than Izzy fight VS Yoel Romero is his Thai clinch against Poatan, in a fight with this calibre, you don't mess around, you don't waste time clinching doing nothing, if you don't go for a knock out then get ready to be knocked out, this is what a fight against Poatan is about, the more you wait thinking that you're scoring, the bigger is the chance to get your ass knocked out.
“God Mode” = flow state.
Bo Nickel is next to run through this wrestle free division .
I can't wait for that to happen. I hope Bo smeshes Khamzat on the way to the top.
you think so?
@@LawrenceKenshin apparently Bo is the #2 wrestler in the world right now. It will interesting to see if he’s able to adapt it to dominating in MMA like DC was able to do.
@@LawrenceKenshin I believe so . I feel it goes in cycles , that division doesn’t have any ok wrestlers let alone world class . There is no I hate to use his name but Khabibs or DCs some one who say “ oh we are gonna wrestle for five rounds and if you defend a take down here comes another “
@@LawrenceKenshin I feel he’ll have to wait his turn not gonna happen overnight .

Out of curiosity, have either of these two had to stuff an actual takedown attempt from a wrestler trying to take them down and keep them there during their entire MMA careers?
We know Izzy has, and Pereira had to deal with some wrestling in his UFC debut.
Neither of them have had to fight excellent wrestlers/grapplers. Adesanya looked awful against Jan on the mat and Jan isn't even a wrestler lol
I'm convinced Khamzat Chimaev would beat both these guys.
Izzy definitely has. Also I find it strange that people think takedowns are that important, it's what you do on the ground that counts. Wrestling is dominant because of the athleticism and awareness wrestlers have in different positions not the fact that they can take people down.
@@mrt445 No he hasn't. If you're talking about Brunson then I'm sorry but that fight was a disgusting display of low fight IQ from Brunson, dude was just bum rushing from the bell. Brunson isn't an elite fighter anyway.
Adesanya has excellent takedown defense against the cage but very basic BJJ escapes. Aside from that his grappling is low level. I guarantee that he would lose to an elite offensive wrestler/grappler. Someone like Khamzat Chimaev has the wrestling and submission skills to finish Adesanya and Po Atan.
@@_DioBrando_ You no longer need extremely high level grappling to become an MMA champ, especially in the heavier weight divisions. I picked Jan to beat Adesanya because he hits harder than Adesanya, and he's fought people who hot harder than Adesanya. Wrestlers are not even dominating the light heavyweight division right now.
Who's here after the match
Even in UFC champions win even when they lost, the only way to defeat a champ in the match by KO cause decisions always go to them
Ohhh shit, Izzy shouted you out???!!!! And a compliment from Joe Rogan???!!!
Dope af. 💯💯🔥🔥
thanks man!
I love the breakdown. I see Alex winning just due to Adesanya's boxing ability being shaky somewhat. His jab isn't good and when he threw his cross, Alex KO'd him badly.
cheers, his jab in orthodox is very good. his cross in southpaw was what got him in trouble.
In boxing you can duck down to dodge, in MMA the knees will follow...
there was no boxing here?
Izzy gonna get em next time with the question mark kick to the side of head.
61-34 and they still scored the fight for pereira
Ya not sure how they got that
That would be a robbery if the judges saw it that way.
Skating by vs causing massive striking damage...
Alex wins. 3-0. I don't think Izzy can manage Alex. I even think Periera has better grappling, training with Glover Texeria. I just don't think Izzy can avoid him for 25 minutes

Dana white hates seeing strikers dominate. But the truth is in MMA a great striker with good takedown defense with dominate. Just like Israel did, Alex will continue.
sadly stylebender doesn't go hard or for the finish. He only does just enough to win by throwing a few shots then some leg kicks mixed with running around. Time and time again he says this fight will be different but so far it hasn't.
he gets in trouble when he hunts a finish. mma fighters at the top are hard to finish overall
