    It is time for a little maintenance on the daily driver vehicles. I do all my own oil changes here at my garage. This is an easy oil change on the newer gen 5 or gen V lt based engines. In this video I am going to show you how to do an oil change at home and save some money. This is the method I use and will be the same process on Tahoe, Yukon, Escalade, Silverado, Sierra, and Denali. It is nice to see the difference between the 5.3L and the 6.2L when it comes to oil changes. They are very similar. They take the same kind of oil, They use the same filter. They have the same size drain plugs. They take the same capacity of oil. The main difference is the dipstick tube placement and the newer models have a better fill cap. Now while I do have a lift. I chose to do it on the ground. I like to change the oil when it is warm because it drains faster and helps get more of it out of the pan. One thing people don't pay attention to when doing an oil change is the seal on the oil pan plug. If yours is warn, replace it with a new one. It isn't a bad idea to do this every 5 or so oil changes. Another issue is people way over tighten the plug and the filter. Do not use an impact on the oil pan plug. When you remove the old oil filter make sure the old rubber seal isn't still on the engine. This will cause a leak. One other thing I do on all my oil changes is to prefill the oil filter. This will help the engine not dry start as bad. I also show you how to reset the oil life in the driver information center. This how to change oil video on the Yukon and Sierra will help those who are looking to save some money or just want to change their own oil. This video will work on 2014 to 2023 GMC and Chevrolet Tahoe, Yukon, Escalade, Sierra, Suburban, Denali, etc. Hit the Comments and let me know what you think.......

    0w20 MB1 in my Nissan ..MB1 filter two. Live in S. Texas. Unbelievably hot climate. No issues...158,000 currently. 196,000 on a Chevy Cruze (Turbo) 10k OCI. Too frequent changes defeats the purpose IMO...idk, it works for me the way the product says it will.

  • @jewllake
    @jewllake Před 9 měsíci +1

    I stopped using that water at about 18K miles on my 2018 6.2. I started using 5w 20 only because it is supposedly more stable than the 0w 20. The last two oil changes I've used 5w 30. No issues, and I feel like I get less oil in my elite catch can. Oil press is a little higher at idle, but not at speed. I also use Amsoil Signature Series and change it after 6 months or 5,000 miles. Both Ford Tech Make U loco and Ford Boss Me agree on the 6 months or 5,000 miles.

      I agree with u man on the interval Change . I have used Amsoil sig series for the past 17 years I changed it in my old truck every 6 months . Was never past 7000 miles in that time frame . My old truck lasted 226k and when the body and frame rotted the engine and trans was still running . I actually blew it up doin a burnout for 5 min without letting off ( brand new set of tires lol ) and it finally puked out all the oil in the exhaust prob from valve float and spun something on the lower end but took massive abuse before it let go

  • @todaywithbk
    @todaywithbk Před 9 měsíci +1

    Correct me if I am wrong but I believe GM went to the 0w20 to help with the AFM lifter collapsing due to the thicker oil gumming them up. I prefer to change my oil every 3k and have never had a problem.

    funny enough, the XP is actually worse for your engine long term. the filter efficiency is much worse on the XP line. bob is the oil guy forms has nick named it a rock catcher. best filter on the market at the moment is the fram ultra guard(walmart), fram titanium(advance auto) or the fram endurance (walmart) all data backed up by iso tests on bitog forums.
