Tonight we continue the 4l80e swap in the gmc sierra. I have had issues with the 4l60e ever since I did the v8 swap. I should have know it would cause problems. In this video I show you how to remove the old 4l60e transmission in preparation for the 4l80e replacement. The 4l80e in stock form is way stronger and should do well in this truck. This process will work in other vehicles like silverado and tahoe. I will be should you how to do the 4l80e swap and the parts and tools you need to do it. I am going to be breaking it up into multiple videos to make it easier on me as I am still gathering parts. Hit the Comments and let me know what you think.......

Circle d recommends 1/8 to 3/16 pull out on the converter, you could have gotten away without any spacers if you couldn't fit the 3/16th bit in. Im just curious because i just completed the swap on my 01 gmc and it had more than 1/8th but less than 3/16 so i just bolted it right up without spacers. Just wondering why you wouldn't check with the 3/16th bit so you may have been able to get away with no spacers. Thanks for the video! You helped a ton with my swap !

Hi Mr Hp Turner What is the difference between a segment swap & a regular swap cause I'm getting worried my lock 🔒 up gear ⚙️ won't lock up smoothly stays on a high RPM I js put a new 6.0 with a 4l65e transmission no trans cooler so I burned 3rd and 4th gear there goes $1500.00

@@TWAMotorsports You had a 4L60E also but that didn't stop you from buying a 4L80E did it. Look, all I'm saying is it looks like you're building your tuck to make some serious power later on and 6 bolts are stronger then 3. But hey...... I guess I shouldn't care. I mean it won't be me that has to drop the trans again to replace the bolts when/if they break along with whatever else gets damaged from a broken off bolt head bouncing around in the bell housing area. Good luck with what you got.

You can go wrong with the trans crossmember. You can send $ to people that make it over seas and get inferior designs. Tyler Scruggs, DTR Fab is THEEEE Man to go to for mounts for trans swaps.

You know what nobody ever shows on these transmission installs and believe me I've watched it oh my God I'm countless ones because I've been trying to find this answer and I can't seem to find the answer nowhere is which line goes where on the radiator most people haven't taken it off but for some of us we had to take out the transmission the lines were jacked and some of them wasn't even on there at all so you look through the books you watch the videos you disrespect one person to say this is your intake line this is your return line and it goes here on the radiator or on your cooler this is where your return goes this is where your supply line goes nobody says that nobody that I found so far it's like impossible I've Googled it I mean I have done everything and it seems like it would be an important thing to mention to make sure you get your transmission lines your supply line and your return line in the right place cuz I mean what's the point of doing any of these things if you're not informing which is the whole point of doing it you're trying to inform people on how to put in something something is important as the supply line which could end up burning up the transmission or it not getting the proper flow of transmission fluid so just mind boggling for me right now

Too many variables in that. Based on year of 4l80e and cooler used. 91-96 4l80e uuper is in, lower is out. 97 up 4l80e rear of transmission is inlet and front is out. I didn't cover that part because some people are using factory parts and coolers. I didn't

15:50 Rookie mistake not pulling those old lines with trans out LOL! 19:25 BINGO yeah be much harder to lower the jack at this point N take them out!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL He will end up cutting those lines to get them out now! 1 Finger space as a general rule on any Exhaust part U will not have an issue. 30:22 CONTROLER???? Its a park Neutral switch don't control shit! 36:34 Here how U avoid the mess! While the trans is out Use Ur (expensive roll around drain tank take the plugs off the lines N let them DRAIN! then blow some air thru them U should be flushing the cooler anyway on a trans swap!) Great narrative (If U would like to create more work for yourself than required!) of limited KNOWLEDGE Just can't take anymore of this video. Guess that's the advantage of CZcams U can call Yourself whatever U like? Ok enough is enough when U have to DRILL HOLES for SELF tapping bolts! SERIOUSLY? Wonder why there called SELF TAPPING BOLTS? Ur PCM/TCM requires a flash to go from a 4L60e to a 4L80E! Follow this and enjoy the extra work He created for U! Was seriously A great attempt N great Narrative Unfortunately seriously lacking Knowledge!
PS an aftermarket Trans cooler is an ADD to the cooling system NOT a replacement THINK ABOUT IT! U think the manufactures didn't spend MILLIONS figuring that system out BEFORE exposing themselves to the liability????? There are a few acceptations to that in the racing world but average joe ain't gonna want to pay for them either!
