    So Sid wants to suspended him more because of something he “might” do??!? Minority report much? I would have done EXACTLY what Kassian did. You can’t keep hitting a guy and NOT have him snap to get you to stop. Not happening.

    • @wes6244

      Tkachuk is banking on exactly that. Kassian ultimately did what Tkachuk wanted. He snapped, Tkachuk refused to answer for it, Kassian was penalized, Flames won on a PPG from the resulting penalty. Checkmate, Tkachuk.
      I did appreciate Kassian's response though about how he said now that he knows why those hits were legal, he will use it to his advantage. It's the only way to play with rats is to play on the edge like them. Especially rats who won't drop the gloves.

      I think his point isn't what he might do, it was that Kassian was thumbing his nose at Parros by saying stupid stuff to the media, right after he was punished for saying stupid stuff to the media. He didn't articulate it very well, but that was what I took away from it.

      This is a great point and the whole situation, to me, puts a blinding light on how poor the officiating in the NHL has been the past few years. If the officials on and off ice aren't going to do something about the events in a game...the players will, that's how the game has always worked. You can't just set a precedent that players can run anyone any time and expect to never take responsibility for their actions. The NHL literally just said, "Do whatever you want...but don't you dare retaliate, ever." really bad precedent.

    Thank god for Tim in this segment cause this would be unwatchable otherwise. How is Sid is god damn stupid..?
    First, stop bringing up Tkachuk as the better player as if anyone in hockey believes Kassian is a better HOCKEY player, strictly based off the actual game of hockey, not even a single Oilers fan would argue with that. Second, he wants the NHL to tack on another game to his suspension after the fact for what he said in a medium scrum? Kassian could’ve went missing till the next battle of Alberta and everyone would know what Zack is planning on doing in their next meeting. Going to suspend someone for saying stuff we already know? Alright bud.
    Also find it hilarious that Tkachuk can throw those “predatory” hits because he’s “smart and smooth” about it and one isn’t because he spoke to the media. NHL player safety is going to have a fun time with this one cause you can bet your ass that one of Mcdavid, Draisitl, Lindholm, Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Kassian, etc are going to be nailed by that exact same hit and they won’t be able to do anything about it. Unless that rat drops the gloves next game, it’s going to be a fun but very dangerous battle of Alberta.

  • @OilFan702
    @OilFan702 Před 4 lety

    The suspension is a complete joke.
    The exact same situation happened between these two players last season during a battle of Alberta and there was no suspension. Why? Because this is a part of hockey. If Tkachuk had hit McDavid like that, anf Kassian reacted like this would Kassian have been suspended for stepping in and defending his teammate? The answer is no. So wht suspend him here?
    The NHL needs to be more consistent in their rulings.

Sid might not have ever played a competitive contact sport, and has only an intellectual understanding but not a visceral one of the chemical cocktail that courses through you when you feel you've wronged. having said all that, the NHL probably did have to suspend Kassian a minor length of games just to cover it's own ass, so they probably got it right.

    I see a lot of people complaining that Tkachuk didn't fight Kassion. Saying he's a p*&%y. I think Tkachuks reaction in that moment was right for his team. He drew the penalty and his team was able to score on the power play to win the game. Not only that but he is in the heads of everyone on that Edmonton bench. I think that is good place to be when it comes to a divisional rival. I don't agree with giving Kassion 2 games he maybe should have been fined for throwing an opponent to the ice from behind, but ultimately he served his double minor and misconduct penalties in game it should have been left at that. The head of the department which has the mandate of curbing violence in the game owns a clothing line that prints shirts with the slogan “Make hockey violent again “. How insane is that??? Why did they hire him? All I can think is that the NHL is concerned about dropping attendance and is hoping an increase in violence will reverse that. They want more hits like these. They ruled the hit as legal, not because it is In the players’ interest, but because it makes money. It’s all about money. Look at the interest that has been generated by them already.
