Call Burke's segment "Show up to work" with Brian Burke
I would call it "Un-Tied" with Brian Burke.
Burke is now a real regular with Tim and Sid and I,m glad!! Really smart man, I always see different perspectives and learn things from him.
sam93931 and then it also means Tom & Sid talk less - Thank God
@@glenholmgren1218 I think you should watch something else if you don't like them.....
Burke I like your non bias....was worried u were going to take Tkachuk's side alone but u are bang on here.....
Burke is the best!!!!!
Burke is one of the smartest guys in hockey
burke calls it how it is, refreshing
Burke is a smart hockey guy! He knows the game and doesn't stutter in his wording and commentary.
That should be quoted to every other sports league, "Anything less than 10 stitches isnt an injury, it's a shaving cut".
Burke’s segment should be called,
Burke’s 15 minute major
Brian Burke knows his Hockey 🏒
Burkey is awesome! Love the stories! Thanks for the fantastic years in Vancouver sir.
Can’t believe anyone would promote ka-chucks type of play
Brian "Back when I HAD that job" Burke
he's probably making more money doing what he does now than he did with NHL
I agree with Burke, Kassian shouldn't have been suspended. Tkatchuk can make runs, Kassian can stand up for himself, and the Battle of Alberta is reignited. Dumb suspension. Doesn't change how anybody is gonna play, and doesn't protect any players.
As soon as Kassian snaps and throws punches like that on a defenceless player you have to suspend him.
@@FunandgameswithAandS tkchuk isn't defenceless. He was basically picking a fight by running kassian. He knew kassian was gonna blow a gasket eventually. He just chose to turtle. He knows how to fight.
it will interesting to see now that Kassian has awoken out of his his 10 year fog.
I turned out the way it should be. Kassian got suspended, that is a good answer. What if Tkachuk got a head to the ice? I would have stood up for myself, but it WAS a clean hit, and good on Tkachuk for turtling himself and being protectively smart.
TheRichardson711 he was defenseless because he had his back turned when kassian grabbed him and then threw him to the ground with no helmet before punching him in the back of his unprotected head
more please
yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tchachuk took steps and left his feet on the first hit. Second was a hockey play. Kassian's response was also a hockey play. No suspension was the call.
No coffee breaks ..... Kieth taught him well ....
Love Burkie
Burky knows it, Mitch has another level. He covers for rushing Dmen, he scores on PK, he disrupts passes, he steals the puck, and he feeds goals. We saw Mitch's other level the other day from the center ice faceoff, he took the puck through 4 guys and scored. Mitch and Matty just need to trust their skills more, get a heap of confidence and have support on the ice.
another level of choking ability, habs fan here

Love Chucky but those were good old fashion charges. Imagine if he did that to McJesus.

TURTLE!!
Burke is on to a great new tie-wearing style! About time
Burkie's the best. Really interested to see what he'll do in Pitt.
The refs turning a blind eye to Tkachuk's hits is at the core of this. as he hits he turns his back so he can land an elbow.
JOHN JAKELIC 😂
Protect the players or let them defend themselves.
It's insane that Tkachuck was purposefully an agitator but you're not allowed to do anything about it if he decides he wants to stare at the palms of his gloves at close range.
Not once but twice there could have been another Todd and Steve Moore incident Should be serious suspension when a player jumps another player from behind and throws sucker punches
It isn’t about people liking the rulings. It’s about getting them right.
Ya both hits are charges btw he takes 5 strides in both and only does it cause it's kassian... So he should get instigator too and those punches don't happen if the refs called charges and if the refs didn't watch as kassian landed 11 shots
Sid ❤s boys. He's a goof.
Sid loves Tkachuk, until he does something to a Leaf
Sid's just annoying. The guys got a fake personality it seems like. Every night before I sleep I pray to the hockey God's that they replace him with Biznasty
Well thakcuk just scored the game winner on them lol

I'm pretty sure Sid is a Habs fan.
Of course Sid likes Tkachuk cause he’s not an Oiler

ZK getting suspended is ridiculous. That first charge was a head shot and should have been at the very LEAST a 2 min charge. If that was a “skilled” player who got smoked like Mcdavid it would have been 5 and a game. The second hit was clean but Kassian had enough at that point.

Burkies really evolved as an analyst. Spot on
If tchachuk got a minor penalty for first hit. None of this would happen
Jetliner _ if it wasn’t a clean hit I would agree.
Trevor Rogers It wasn’t a clean hit - it was a CHARGE ... you’re not allowed 5 strides!
Glen Holmgren read the rule, there’s no number of strides that determine a charge. Just because you don’t like a hit doesn’t mean it’s an illegal hit.
Note) Charging is the action where a player takes more than two strides or travels an excessive distance to accelerate through a body check for the purpose of punishing the opponent. This includes skating or leaving one's feet (jumping) into the opponent to deliver a check, accelerating through a check for the purpose of punishing the opponent, or skating a great distance for the purpose of delivering a check with excessive force.
jared neufeld Note) according to the OFFICIAL NHL RULE BOOK
Rule 42 - Charging
42.1 Charging - A minor or major penalty shall be imposed on a player
who skates or jumps into, or charges an opponent in any manner.
Charging shall mean the actions of a player who, as a result of distance traveled, shall violently check an opponent in any manner. A “charge” may be the result of a check into the boards, into the goal frame or in open ice.
A minor, major or a major and a game misconduct shall be imposed on a player who charges a goalkeeper while the goalkeeper is within his goal crease.
A goalkeeper is not “fair game” just because he is outside the goal crease area. The appropriate penalty should be assessed in every case where an opposing player makes unnecessary contact with a goalkeeper. However, incidental contact, at the discretion of the Referee, will be permitted when the goalkeeper is in the act of playing the puck outside his goal crease provided the attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid such contact.
Absolutely nothing about a specific number of strides.
Suspension not necessary! Keep your head up Kassian and tighten up your chin strap! Don't forget that Lucic should be weighing in on the next game and doing his job.
Haa! Lucic doesn't fight anymore. The human pylon thinks he's a goal scorer now... bahahahahahahaaaa!
First one was okay. 3 strides, glides, contact. Second hit was CLEARLY a charge. Took 5 solid strides right into Kassian. 100% charging.
Big hits are almost as exciting as goals but Tkachuk’s were charges. It was old time hockey but the rules have changed? It was weak he didn’t fight Kassian..a simple courtesy flush for his s@?! would have been the honourable thing to do.
Discipline from the Turnpike with Brian Burke
Problem with Tkachuk is his attitude. He acts like he can do whatever he wants. He charged, lit up Kassian in a predatory way and then thinks, "it's just hockey whatever." He's actually not that tough and not as great a player as all the media think. He's a good story because he's a character is why they cover it so much. He's going to get hurt playing like that and no one will feel sorry for him. I won’t, and I’m not an Oilers fan at all.
You have obviously never seen a Flames game. Lol
U r a betaaa
As a Leafs' fan, I don't care if the Leafs game isn't finished, I'll be switching to the Calgary vs Edmonton game. I miss nasty old time rivalry hockey.
Next oil flame game should have both kassian n thachuk on the opening faceoff n after the puck drops have them immediately drop gloves n solve it man to man take their penalties with no major penalties or game misconducts.
Thachuk will never fight someone fair and square. Hell he won't even fight with the upper hand
It will be Lucic
Agreed, but it would only be Man-To-Boy - Tkachucky is NOT a real man!
THANK-YOU Burksey - exactly as I have said - I agree when I watch it too - he took TOO MANY strides before he applied the hit and the hit was targeted not consequential
Charging is a penalty in ice hockey. Rule 42 of the NHL rulebook dictates that charging "shall mean the actions of a player or goalkeeper who, as a result of distance traveled, shall violently check an opponent in any manner. A 'charge' may be the result of a check into the boards, into the goal frame or in open ice.
Did disappoints me these days
God bless Burke for someone finally calling it as it is
Is that Russell Peter's sounds like him too
Two ads. No way.
If the supplementary discipline guy from the 90's said it's a charge it's probably a charge in today's game especially. I have no problem with any of it. I feel like tkachuk is a bit of a rat but I don't think that was what this was about at all. I'm just surprised how many people who "love" hockey but are up in arms about Kas responding that way. Sticking up for yourself or others after a big hit clean or not has always been a part of hockey. Hell you couldn't get too close to The Great One without Marty jumping all over you whether you touched Gretzky or not. Better to just let him get beat up then have Kas hunting him the next few matchups and possibly seriously injuring the kid 🤷♂️
I been watching Hockey since before they "had" to wear helmets... The only thing I did not like, was that Kas did not stop fighting when the ref's jumped in. You don't hit a player that is down on the ice, and you stop fighting when the ref grabs you. That's respect for the game.
Next game I hope they play Rag Doll by Aerosmith everytime Tkachuk is on the ice
TIM+SID+DRAMA= SHOW
Brian Burke probably doesn't even realize there's a recording of this video and anyone can watch it through a fancy network of servers called the internet.
If Tkachuk isn't going to fight his own battles, the Oilers should target Calgary's best players.
Tkachuk is the leading scorer on the Flames!
Buy this stupid logic then, Lucic and Rinaldo can jump mcdavid and German fake tough guy leon and pound them, or even last game when leon put the elbow up when Bennett hit him, Bennett should have snapped and caved his face in, or mcdavid should have been taken care of to as he had crossed checked Tkachuk into the board after takening several "crossovers".
@@garys2157 yeah, that's right, you got my meaning! Tkachuk delivered a dirty hit, and wouldn't stand up for it. Even Malkin takes a fight after delivering a dirty hit, rather than allow frustrations to boil over and have other players on his team pay the price. Don't do the crime if you aren't willing to do the time. Tkachuk is a puke and a punk.
@@dontvoteforanybody3715 Yeah give your head a few more shakes maybe you can get some of that crap off your eyes.
just call it Burke's blog... at least every one would know what it is and what you wanna hear....honest hockey talk! ;)
So is "Charging" no longer a penalty? That hit is clearly charging.
First hit, ok. But how is the second not charging? He took 5 long stores playing the hit.
Give it a rest.
They are not clearly charging, it's close, but the one Kassian ragdolled him around, def not, first one prob charging, but not a big deal it was not called
Rule 42.1 states that "charging shall mean the actions of a player who, as a result of distance travelled, shall violently check an opponent in any manner." The keyword here is "violently".
When Torey Krug skated from center ice to the zone face off circle to deliver a hit in last seasons Stanley cup finals, that was clearly charging.
why was there talk about the leafs at the start? Thats just weird
Two bits with burke
Burkie is such a beauty
Ilikebeaversandeaglesupyourass lol for sure, i love the old school takes
If he doesn't get up on the 1st hit Tkachuk gets a penalty without a doubt.
I hope guys make runs at Tkachuk now and put him through the boards
isn’t charging more then 3 steps. dude took 6 plus....
I was just thinking that look like a charge
actually the rule book strangely doesnt mention anything about steps
@@brendan1675 yeah it is weird I looked it up as well. got this off of google: Rule 42 of the NHL rulebook dictates that charging "shall mean the actions of a player or goalkeeper who, as a result of distance traveled, shall violently check an opponent in any manner.
In a way you could argue one or both of the first two hits were charging based on distance traveled and the violence of them.
He had enough time to run his body and suck down a bit after his strides so=no charging
@@skateordiedev The general rule people used is if you leave the ice, take more 2 or 3 strides or deliberately take yourself out of the play to hit an opponent. Leaving the ice is easy to call the later two are just judgments. The hit before the fight should of been a charge. He made the choice to try to injure a player when he wasnt even close to the play. I used to make those hits all the time growing up. I would get a charging penalty half the time.
If this hypocritical and conniving game play is Bettman's NHL benchmark. The NHL is going to loose a lot of true hockey fans. Good luck with Snowflakes Gen buying tickets and merchandising.
This was the refs fault for allowing a light charge through. Refs ignite players with non calls.
Light charge ?
I counted Three strides could be wrong regardless refs miss... light charge big hit
It’s almost as if the Refs let Kassian pound on him. I think their getting sick of his Tkachuk’s antics
Why does Burke even bother wearing a tie?
ITS"S HOCKEY...DROP THE PUCK !
The league is getting soft. If the refs had given out penalties during the game then Kassian would not have had to respond to Tkachuk head hunting. Very disappointing with Parros and Shanahan.
The guy already told the New Jersey Turnpike story...
You want to run around, be prepared to answer the bell at some point. IMO it doesn’t even matter if the hits are clean, if you’re gonna run around and run your mouth, you better be ready to back it up at some point.
ApeHead but really Matt doesn’t, he didn’t fight and Kassian got a penalty helping the flames big time. Kassian is a loose cannon and he knew it
ApeHead nah he doesn’t have to do anything at all
So what you are saying is the smaller guys shouldn't be able to body check unless they can fight. Back in the day everyone through checks but only the fighters fought.
@@mybobbleheads As far as I'm concerned, when you ran around targeting players (especially on hits where you left your check to take a run), you had to fight. Size has nothing to do with it, nor does fighting ability. That's why everyone hates/hated Emelin.
If there was anything wrong with either of those 2 hits they are hypocrites for not removing Scott Stevens from the HOF. No head target, Kassian had the puck, Tkachuk COASTED both times into contact so no acceleration. Watch Basketball if you don’t like big boy games.
Both hits were Charging!
🤣
When Burkys on, the clicks are up.
Burke has enough life experience to recognize .
My wife will always do the dishes regardless of who cooks the eggs.
johnny Gaudreau is going to get destroyed next game, book it now. Parros failed, the refs failed and its Vigilante time. Lines drawn in sand. Its ok to take 7' runs at others and leave your feet.
This is such a dumb take.
Tkachuk earned his noogies. Lucky for him the refs stepped in on time or there would have been lots more.
5 minutes Major to Tkachuk on the FIRST hit and the SECOND hit does not occur - there is NO fight - no suspension and NO controversy and payback next game - 100% Kassian will retaliate with the SAME style of "hit" against Tkachuk - he will likely get called for Charging too - the REFS blew it - the NHLPA Player Safety BLEW IT EVEN MORE - what idiot around hockey would not call that a CHARGING penalty - no one - it is as BLATANT charge as can be - did everyone forget what charging is? - LOOK AT THE RULEBOOK DUMDUMS - Kassian got screwed and Tkcahuk got tatooed
Glenn 🤣
Ryan Corsaut no...2 washed up 4th liner goons lol
I'd recommend "Burke's In The Barn" in memory of that time he wanted to rent a barn and scrap Kevin Lowe
Here is what I notice those who support Matthew are people who would literally act the same in life . Turtles
And you are probably like Zack Kassian... Slow and can't skate... Lol
Paul Freeman or leaf fans as well
HaarpoonWave I wouldn’t say Daughty is slow and can’t skate and he would gladly remove Matt’s teeth.
HaarpoonWave I’ll wager Kass is faster than turtle any day, maybe get Luch in there.
Both are worthy NHL players, Kassian is correct, he will get served.
Obviously this has been blown up, and other players are going to catch on to the way he plays and probably find it sensible to wear him down.
Unfortunately, it’s a dirty game.
Until the day the NHL removes contact - it won’t change. And, it’s the $$$ that has kept it in.
This game isn’t all about skill, and I’m not sure what the average condition of retired players is, if that came out, maybe people would be the wiser.
Cheapshot charge. They should sort things out next game.
Kassian is no angel, but he was charged twice before the fight. Those hits were meant to injure him.

So when you hit someone in the numbers that's a charging penalty...! Duh!
Burke is right, Tkachurtle needs to do his own dishes!
A Tkachuk like player on Toronto now or the last few years, playing against Boston. We would've won both those series'! He would've been that guy to get Marchand and Chara off their games and looking over their shoulders whenever he would've been on the ice! Then and now, they don't have to worry about this with this Leafs team. Why if they play Boston AGAIN. They will AGAIN lose that series
