    Missed one important precaution, to not polish on edges of panels for too long to avoid burning the clear. Sharp edges tend to have a thinner coat of clear.

    Learning to drive a manual just takes getting used to the process each time you move. The only problem is other drivers can be annoyed to be behind you. Get the process done and then get behind some big trucks in traffic, they have to do a lot of shifting and will get the blame taking the pressure off of you.

    Awesome explanation of what type compounds to use. What do you recommend to keep a polishing pad from getting too hot? I've read cleaning helps, but should I also have 2 orange pads when doing an entire S2000 for example? Thanks!

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  Před 6 lety +1

      Hi Spencer, great questions. To reduce the heat, it is important to use Pad Conditioner to lubricate the pad. We also recommend using a DA polisher, which has safety features that will make it harder for you to burn the paint versus a rotary polisher. Finally, we recommend using a Hex Logic pad with a hole in the middle, which helps disperse the heat. You can read more about each product below. Thanks for watching, Spencer, and thanks for being a part of the Chemical Guys family!

    Great video. I just bought a Torq 15DA from you guys. One thing I didnt catch in the vid, with the Torq 15DA, what speed do you use for V36 and V38? Also, will V38 alone remove very light and minor swirls on a brand new car or is it better to start with 36? Thank you.

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  Před 4 lety

      Hey! When spreading product out such as polish, use the lowest speed setting then bump it up the highest speed setting to correct the paint. V36 Cutting Polish is better suited for removing scratches and swirls. You can then go over it with V38 Final Polish for a flawless finish.

  • @AAAlvarezXIII
    @AAAlvarezXIII Před 5 lety

    How exactly fine is the V4 all in one polish+sealant? Is it a finer polish than V38 with the added sealant or does is break down from a compound to a polish like VSS and leaves the sealant? Does it last as long as JetSeal or would you recommend topping this off with any wax or sealant?🤔

  • @michaelljones2
    @michaelljones2 Před 6 lety

    Best way to learn to drive a stick? Either find a huge empty parking lot or a back country road without a lot of traffic first. Then spend focus at to start in first gear not even trying to shift higher. Starting from a dead stop is the hardest thing for a lot of people as it's the trickiest part. So spend time learning where the clutch engages and the throttle needs to be to keep it from dying and not jerking forward or stalling. Nice, smooth, out on the clutch and nice, smooth, in on the gas. You'll find the 'engagement zone' on your clutch from trial and error. Then stop and do it again and again and again until you can do it without killing the car starting off or coming to a stop. Don't be afraid to kill the engine, just push the clutch back in, start the car, and try again. After you get good at this part THEN you can focus on shifting to higher gears, which is much easier in motion. Then go back and do the clutch/pedal drill on an uphill incline (but make sure you have a ton of room!). None of that if you do just normal in and out easy should do any damage to your clutch, throwout, etc. Where people kill clutches is riding them or 'dropping' them at high RPM usually. Good luck!

    I believe you briefly touched on it in the video, but what are the differences between the hexlogics with the center hole, and the ones without? I ordered a kit from Amazon and it came with the regular pads with no hole. Would you suggest the other ones with the holes are better?

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  Před 6 lety

      Hi! The hole helps disperse the heat. If you're using a DA machine, you're good to go with the Hex Logic Pads without the hole, but if you're using a rotary polisher, you definitely want to use the Quantum pads with the hole. If you're using a DA machine could use either, it's really just a matter of personal preference! Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more videos headed your way soon!

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  Před 3 lety

      Hey! We recommend polishing it with V36 Optical Grade Cutting Polish, then apply HydroCharge. Chemical Guys V36 Optical Grade Cutting Polish is the great all-around cutting-polish that eliminates light to moderate paint defects and imperfections from all paint types, then finishes like a fine polish. HydroCharge is the easy-to-use SiO2 ceramic spray coating that delivers a brilliant high-gloss candy shine, extreme hydrophobic properties, and the durable protection of a ceramic coating with the ease of use and speed application of a spray.

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  Před 6 lety

      Hi, good question. You can try V36 with a white pad on a test spot, and see if it gives you the results you are looking for. If you need a more aggressive approach, try V36 with the orange pad. You can finish with V38 and the white pad. The black pad has no cutting ability at all and will not remove any paint; it is only used to apply glazes, sealants, and waxes. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for a new video dropping later today!

Choose the right pad for removing swirls and scratches, or applying wax, sealant, or glaze to your paintwork. The Hex-Logic Hand Pads are the perfect size for any hand, big or small. The unique foam contours to the shape of your hand so you can restore shine and gloss to any surface. How many times can you use vss first time I used it car looked excellent now six months on starting to see signs of swirling and wanted to no if ok to polish and wax again

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  Před 6 lety

      Hi Russ, you can use VSS whenever your car needs it. Remember, though, that polishing is abrasive so it's not something you want to be doing every week or every month. If the last time you polished was 6 months ago, you're in the clear to polish again. Most scratches and swirls are caused by improper washing and drying techniques. Make sure to use proper car washing and drying techniques to ensure that the intervals between polishes are as long as possible. Conversely, you can wax as much as you'd like. Waxing does not remove anything from you car, only adds protection and shine! Thanks for watching Russ and check back tomorrow for a new video upload!

      Hey Pedro, that's a great question. You sure can use the White Pad with VSS if your car has only light scratches and swirls. • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  Před 6 lety

      Hey Chris, that's a great question. It depends how the pinstripes were applied to the vehicle. If the pinstripes are under the clearcoat, then you can polish the car as usual. However, if the stripes are on top of the clearcoat, then you will need to either tape them off or simply avoid that area. I have 2 questions when finishing with the V38 what is the best final sealent to use after I polish the car? And my second question is when using the sealants would you use the butter wax or would you use jet seal?

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  Před 6 lety

      Hi Frank, those are good questions. We recommend using JetSeal for the longest lasting and most durable protection. JetSeal is a manmade synthetic wax that takes paint protection to the next level. JetSeal bonds directly to the surface, creating a strong shield against water spots, contamination, road grime, and UV sunlight. Innovative UV protection technology helps reject harmful solar rays and protect paintwork against fading and discoloration. When applying sealants and wax, you want to apply the sealant first and the wax after. I will leave a link the detailing flow chart below that shows all the steps to a full detail in their proper order, and also to Jet Seal. Thanks for watching, Frank, and make sure to check back tomorrow for a new video drop!

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  Před 6 lety +1

      Click that link above that shows the detailing flow chart. It will show you that the proper order is wash > clay > polish > glaze > seal > wax. So, in your case, when you get to these steps, you will apply Black Light Glaze > JetSeal > Black Wax.

      Hi Fon, if you are new to polishing or relatively inexperienced, we suggest using a DA polisher. Also, if you wish to apply glazes, sealants, and waxes quickly and efficiently with your machine, then we suggest picking up a DA as a rotary should not be used to apply these types of products. If you are experienced with a rotary and know what you're doing and have no desire to use your machine to apply glazes, sealants, or waxes, then you can stick with it. • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  Před 6 lety

      Hi Hugo, you don't necessarily need to move up the line using every single product. When used properly, you can go from V34 to V38, for example, or go from V32 to V36, or only use V36. What's important is that you work every product for the proper amount of time until it becomes translucent. Remember that every car is different and testing is the name of the game when it comes to compounding and polishing. You should test out a small area of the car to figure out what combination of products works best for the particular detailing job before undertaking the whole car. What is the term hard and soft paint mean? For example that Honda has a soft paint and how do you tell which has soft or hard paint? I have a Toyota Camry don’t know if it hard or soft.

    • @KG-gf2jo
      @KG-gf2jo Před 6 lety

      Aaron 1530091 soft paint scratches easily and is easier to correct. Hard paint the scratches are more difficult to work out. The Toyota is probably somewhere in between. Tesla paint is incredibly soft son much so you can scratch it when wiping the wax off. A Mercedes would be an example of a hard paint.

    • @vaguincolombia
      @vaguincolombia Před 6 lety

      it means if you use the orange pad and V36 and after the first polish, they don't cut easily scratches, swirl marks, etc, it means you have a hard clear coat, and you will have to use the V34 or maybe V32 to cut better

    • @Clintpoon
      @Clintpoon Před 6 lety

      A hard paint will be more resistant to swirls, marring and damage but also takes more effort to polish. A softer paint is easier to polish because imperfections are easier to remove, but because the paint is soft the swirls come sooner and easier. Hard and soft are all relative. Your Camry paint is soft compared to x, and hard compared to y.

    • @STILLNIGHTPEARL
      @STILLNIGHTPEARL Před 6 lety

      It means that the clearcoat is soft or hard. Soft clear coat corrects easier, but also leaves a haze which has to be followed up with less aggressive products, pads, technique. A harder clearcoat takes a more aggressive approach to correct, but usually finishes haze free, sometimes you can 1 step a hard clearcoat with something like V32 or V34 and apply your wax or whatever you like. Every clear is different though, too many variables.

      Hi Richard! We recommend Headlight Restorer. Save yourself the trouble, and simply rub out any hazy headlight residue with Chemical Guys Headlight Restorer and Protectant. Simply rub the refined cream formula into the faded headlight plastic with a microfiber towel until it turns clear. That’s it! Most plastic turns from hazy and yellow to crystal-clear in seconds with Headlight Restorer and Protectant. Tougher faded plastic can be professionally sanded with 2000 and 3000 grit wet sandpaper, then restored clear with Headlight Restorer and Protectant. Use Headlight Restorer and Protectant by hand and a microfiber towel, or use it with a machine polishing kit to get 100% professional-level results.
