New Project: K24 Insight, Bolting in the engine today

- Today we start a new project. A K24 swap into a Honda Insight. We have wanted to do this swap for some time. We found a shell for $500.
The Honda Insight is an anomaly because the car is made from aluminum. This makes it the lightest Honda made and It is perfect for a swap.

This is an easy V-8 killer setup with an A2 head! Nice job!
I have big plans for this car but I will be doing the upgrades in stages, and for this setup a Z3 head would be better
@@PirateGarage I like the A2 head more, but the Z3 has a better intake manifold and cams.
You should do a video on going to the junkyard and show us what to look for when picking an engine

They only made 17,000 over the entire run 2000-2006. They make more Civics in 2 weeks.
There are alot of insights out there with bad hybrid batteries just waiting to be swapped

Tall gears are fine when you are only pulling around 1800lbs. Thumbs up!
The issue was the tire size so running the 4.4fd and the small tires equates to the same as 4.7fd and the factory size the trans comes with

Unknown journey is doing a mid engine kswap. If you're into that sorta thing
Ok so there are 3 things that you missed when doing the K swap before installing the engine to make this easy. 1 remove the coss bar in the front 2 take the alternator off 3 take the crank balance off. This is my suggestion but not to be confused with any one.

Mine slips in better from the bottom, I set the engine under and lower the car onto it.
Any update? I’m also k swapping my insight. Which knuckle and axle did you go with? Front suspension and rear?

Everything has to be hooked up and working
Look good but I think the passenger side mount is upside down motor looks a lil higher
that would be physically impossible the mount is counter sunk for the bolts, talk to hasport and tell them they need to revise the mounts
How much would it cost me if I gave you my insight to do a similar swap?

Like 700 at the junkyard but it came with some things I needed for the swap
back in the days you couldn't bar a truck engine into a car, hopefully they changed that rule now.
The good thing is it's not a truck engine the element is classified as a car
they did that to a buddy of mine with a b20 crv motor
