That's a dapper looking shirt good sir!
* me choking on my drink. "It can easily take the FULL JOEL "
It sounds like a wrestling move =D
You could say it goes... Joels Deep
Love the video. Thanks again for the shout-out. FYI I’m already working on an upgrade for that stepper and a Direct Drive as well. Stay tuned!!!
Did you try or know if it is possible to put the micro swiss all metal hotend on it?
@@francisgilbert3941 I have not but see no reason why it wouldn’t fit. My only concern would be the pitch of their nozzle. I believe it to be too shallow.
@@NAK3DDesigns thanks for the fast answer. When i will receive it will be something to try on my own if nobody try it before. Hope this kickstarter will not do the same as the cr6-se.
@@francisgilbert3941 no problem, Naomi is on top of this one.. She'll make sure they keep things straight this time.
@@NAK3DDesigns There is a design on thingiverse already that I use on my ender 3 pro and it works with the extruder that is on that printer: www.thingiverse.com/thing:3816051
100.02 would be 2 hundreds off, not 2 tenths
wich is insanely accurate...
That's in the range of repeatability variance for the measuring device.
He could measure again and it come out exact or .02 low or .04 high.
*hundredths*
I agree! The only reason I checked the comments was to see if someone else had already pointed it out.
Yeah I misspoke and totally took away from the accuracy. I APOLOGIZE
0.100 : Hundred thou
0.010 : Ten thou
0.001 : One thou
0.0001 One tenth
Big difference friends, if something has a +/-.0001 accuracy it's extremely accurate, but if something was only +/- .010 it wouldn't really be accurate.
I just wanted to inform you guys that tenths aren't 0.010 and that tenths are 0.0001.
"If machines of this quality are dilivered to thousands of backers around the world..."
...there's gonna be A LOT of game and anime swords printed, lol!
I think this is a great first large-scale commercial attempt to bring this style printer to market, and it has the potential to spark a lot of new innovation. If it was economically viable at this time, I think this is certainly a kick starter that I could get behind.
Oh yeah baby always enjoy seeing a good DIY HOS
Glad to see you here. The 3d printing community is so connected
See this is why I love the makers community. Where everyone help grow each other’s sub count by guiding us fans to the right content providers. Thank you guys
I backed this kickstarter and really appreciate all that are reviewing the CR-30 so maybe I'll have an easier time using this printer when it arrives.
Backed it for a two pack with my buddy. Looking forward to getting it and tinkering. Hopefully will make some advancements and post about them for the community. I think this machine is one of those inflection points where this will get better and more available from here and it is exciting to be a part of that.
Great video Joel! I was curious to learn more about the bed material and how it holds up with durability and with print adhesion. Both seem fantastic and look forward to seeing how the new material holds up!
Super excited, backed it weeks ago!
Hi Joel, Great review of the CR-30 printmill! I did back this Kickstarter campaign because I believe in this awesome project and supporting the ones that made this happen
Great video Joel. Definitely considering getting one of these.
Such a great channel. Thanks!
Oh man. I ran into you a month or so ago outside of the UPS store there in MLT (hidey-ho neighbor!) and said hey... At the time (you may not have noticed) I was wearing my Thundercats hoodie. Now you're printing THE SWORD OF OMENS! You are my hero!!!
Yep I can’t wait to try this out, as a prop maker I’m so excited!
Cheers for the review mate. Watching the prints jump off the end with the Wilhelm Scream cracked me up. And it also made me realize how perfect the machine would be for my needs.
WHAT THE HECK?! HOW DID I MISS THIS?!?!!
Thank you so much for the feature Joel!!
Great review. We've always wanted 3D printer manufacturers to reach out to and collaborate with the community BEFORE they release a production printer. I chose not to buy one at this time (it was sooooo hard not to pull the trigger). I am supporting and watching from the sidelines as the belt printers evolve so if I do find that I need one in my arsenal it will be there.
If you are worried about deflection/time for that motor shaft, you could always make either a cone spacer or add a plate to support the other end of the shaft.
Great video, Joel!!!
Sean's edits really made this episode pop! He doesn't get enough credit for the sweet work he does!
Naomi gave you the CR-30 in trade for reviews. Glad to see 1:14 your modification on the rollers. I took a lot of backlash when I recommended a flat surface instead of rollers. We tested the CR-30 at 200mm/s and it skipped cogs on the belt. We had to run the printer pretty slow.
On the Z belt? Or on the CoreXY belts? If it's the Z, then you can still set the print speed at 200mm/s, but just limit the Z in the firmware. The machine will only make Z transitions at the lower speed, but will have a high speed during the extrusions.
@@williamsteele CoreXY belts
Hahahah, love the little RepBox lemming part commentary 😂
Good review. Seems like a fair eval to me. Cant wait to see how the final version does.
This is a game changer for batch making 3D printing enthusiasts. I hope it comes to market as I could use one of these!
Great Video Joel, I didn't back it , no funds at this time. But one of these days, hopefully I'll own one. I'll repost this on my Facebook group.
That being said, another great fair honest video Joel.
Really? I just think "pre-production machine" is a way of hiding flaws on the machine. Like Creality ever does anything with customer complaints
Great review Joel
Thanks for another great and honest review!
I'm a backer of the CR6 Max. Haven't got it yet. But from what I have seen it seems like most backers are actually getting good printers. And if you pay as little as you do for creality printers then you shouldn't be surprised if the quality isn't at the same level as a $3000 printer.
I have read that there's a Bondtech print head for the CR30 the works. So things look promising.
Great video, watching that cube print was so cool! I would LOVE to own one, but cant justify the expense just so I could every sword available, which I would definitely do! lol Now to order some of that outstanding cherry red filament!
This was a good unbias review. I look forward to seeing what the belt printers become as they are improved on.
Backed it, Received it, Love it! Everything is tight, well built, and the belt is awesome. And yes, I printed a sword as well :D
sooo exited for this video XD
BTW @Joel I think you need to up scale( hight ) the fixsomedude to print it at the 45 angle
I think The nozzle has to come up on x/y to make the print look good
"No word yet from Simplify 3D" I snort-laughed at that part :)
Joel, Another great video many thanks.
I am thinking that this may be a good addition to my mini print farm as I am very familiar with Creality components and have a particular product I manufacture (currently in 2 halves) which would suit perfectly the build dimensions this machine offers.
However you mention the maximum temperature of 240°c, I print (almost exclusively PETG) with a 0.8 nozzle and then they are upholstered so visual finish isn't the number one priority. At 0.8 on my Max and CR10s Pros I run them at 245-248°c to cope with the filament flow rate, with this in mind do you think the print mill will be able to handle a 0.6 or 0.8 nozzle with PETG at 240°c without having to run at a snail's pace?
It sounds like the hot end is Ender3 Style, so presumably a Micro Swiss all metal hot end will be a straight swap?
Regardless it's certainly an interesting product and looks to be reasonably well priced.
Thanks again,
James
It's pretty amazing seeing the community come together on cool projects like this. I would like to see larger prints with it. Swords are cool but maybe like some helmets or something. I thinks it would do well with that kind of thing but im not positive. Good luck but its out of my price range for a while.
Hey Joel love the videos and the reviews. I feel that Naomi has put a massive amount on time and resources into this machine, I have backed it, besides who doesn't want to print a sword in one?
Thanks for the review and showing the downsides of this printer.
Yes, the new belt is working quite well (I got my pre-production one 3 days ago)
will we see a video on it?
@@claytonsmith9170 Yes, if you are fine with french reviews :)
@@PolyWorkshop I don't speak French, but could be fun to watch.
I've backed the CR-30 including extension bracket kit and looking forward to test it out when it arrives
I feel seen and heard after that cardboard story and the masking tape. I once just asked for duct tape for Christmas because I was making wallets and action figure terrain and what not.
Awesome review and I hope to get a CR-30 one day. The Ender 5 is doing it's job but this thing is just too cool!
I think I would really enjoy this printer, but I am only 2 weeks into my first printer of a Ender 3 v 2. So I am in a pretty steep learning curve now. I do hope the campaign is successful and I have followed Naomi for a while so this is really exciting to see a creator take the next step and develope a product. For me this is just the tip of the iceberg.
I don't think anyone would blame you for taking free belt printer Kickstarter or otherwise.
Would like to see some "Chainmail" or other cloth like print.
Great video. Keep up the good work.
“It’s a sword machine” 😎 great video and awesome to see the sword of omens. I would love to see someone print an E-11 trooper blaster, curious to see how sturdy / cost effective it is to print that type of prop.
Great review, Joel! While you have the roller assembly dismantled, how feasible does it seem to change the tilt angle? Dropping to 35° might improve the leading edge quality. I wonder if those slicing oddities would improve.
Great video Joel, I'd like to see you try printing the cammed bag clips that you printed a while ago, on this printer.
I ordered one of these for my prop making. Im really looking forward to seeing what all it can do
@Chris ...and still no one has answered if 2 sword halves glue togheter well enough to save us from 100s of sanding hours.... :/
Joel says “Sword of Omen” and I quickly got my can of monster energy drink ready for hydration . HoooooooooH!!!!!
Regarding S3D - I still prefer S3D's interface over any other slicer. It remains the most intuitive and easiest slicer for me to use since I started printing and I get great results in most cases even with the CR-6 se. I'm still cheering for them from the sidelines (an emotional favorite?). In my perfect world I would have many of the newer features of Cura but with S3D's user interface.
Agree
I thought I was the only one who is still a fan of S3D. For down and dirty STL to Gcode they are my favorite.
Yes, they makr the best slicer I have used to date. Hope they will release their updated software soon though. It's starting to get ridiculous. They could at least give us some progress updates...
Hi Jo, I have a questions why are you calibrating E Steps not the Z steps?
How does the other major Belt 3D printer on kickstarter, the iFactory One,8 compare?
Another great video thank you! I'm not interested in any kick starters either will wait probably 6 months after this hits the market!
This looks very useful for people that do small production runs for 3d printed parts, just copy the part a bunch of times and let them drop into a bucket at the end. Also time lapses are now super easy to do.
I backed it. One my of my clients has already showed some interest in utilizing it's capabilities for a future project. If it turns out to work like it did with you it'll be a great addition.
I had already subscribed after watching the Bobby duke video... but the use of the Grunt Birthday party sound would've earned it again. love it
So, I got my CR30 recently, and had some serious issues with pla bed adhesion out of the box. With lots of effort, I believe I've finally found slicer settings that work right. When the prints don't fail, the quality is epic.
Hi! I just purchased this printer but still have settings problem! :( can you please share your best settings with us? Thank you
@@fefy9465 I could share my settings, but the problem is that unless you live next door to me, there's very little chance that they'll have the same effects on your model. Unfortunately, 3D printing is subject to the local environment as much as the individual differences in manufacturing. Your best option is to start with what has worked best for you so far, then making small adjustments to a single setting at a time. Each individual change can have an enormous impact on the outcome of your prints. Different problems require different changes to your slicer settings. Layer adhesion problems can be solved with a higher fan speed at 1st layer (I set mine to 10%). Problems with parts being pried off the belt can be solved either by adding a leading edge and using a raft (1mm thick is enough), or by adjusting the z-steps on your firmware (if the printer head is prying them off the belt). It also depends on what material you use. PLA would require different temps than PETG is different from ABS, etc.
The CR-30 treadmill. Thanks Creality!
Thank you for the honest review Joel . I’m interested in this machine but I’m not sure I would have the experience or patience to deal with issues on this machine. I still might roll the dice though 😂.
I need to get one of these machines
I absolutely backed it! And hearing that slicer settings specially tuned for it will be included, is great. My only regret is that it looks unlikely that the Kickstarter reaches the 5 million USD where Creality promised they'd opensource the hardware :(
If you mill out a channel in the sword if possible, that runs the length of the body minus half an inch from each tip, and glue in a small metal pipe (doesn't matter if hollow or not) and glue the entire unit together you can have a more "functional" solid prop that's ready for painting. Also I have a general question regarding it. How well does it handle helmets?
Infinite height. This is truly the next step in home 3D printing.
A sideways Massive Robot Joel is a Must in my opinion. I'm excited for the future of this machine.
another great video !
Even at full price, this machine is a steal. It's probably worth waiting till after the kickstarter just to see what makes it to market and how the community tackles the challenges with both this machine and the realm of designing/slicing at 45 degrees.
Great review! For me personally, I will be waiting a bit before jumping in. I have backed 3 kickstarter 3d printer projects. One has worked out so far, but I am done with support on kickstarter. I would rather wait for solid results now in retail.
Happiest kid to receive tape for Christmas ever...
I did back this on Kickstarter and I’m excited for it but I have to share my experience so far. For some reason I was charged double the stated rate for shipping to the USA. According to the Creality rep who is replying to comments they will fix this once the project is funded but there are also many other backers with the same issue and many people saying that the same thing happened with the 6se and similar promises were made but never followed thorough with.
I get that fur from stringy PETG. Good review sir !
Got mine. No success yet. Trying to print petg using a .8mm nozzle. Filament just curls right up and sticks to the nozzle rather than the bed. Any recommendations?
Thanks joe. I am Going to back it. I would like to see some sort of print like the Godzilla prints out there. From what I am staring to see is this one is getting better up front which is promising. I backed the cr6se and did have a failure on the main board but creality did get me a replacement
Good information
I would love to have one of these. I have two ender 3 pros that I love. I would love to see if ABS could be done at some point
I too started my making career making cardboard fortresses, for my HeMen though. My daughter does the same too.
‘No word yet from simplify3d’
thats because their still deciding how much to charge for it
S3D: You got $700 for a new printer, you should have $100 for "new" software.
@@imbw267 , and it won’t be going to S3D’s bank account
@@stinkyham9050 the joke is that s3d hasn't released a major version for years other then some minor tweaks
Super cool
I might get this 3d printer might.
Where can you download the slicer software for this printer? I cant find download links for it anywhere.
Hey Joel, where can I get NAK 3D's profile for this printer? I'm backer 105 for this.
That repeat feature will be great. I am hoping for some queuing software that allows us to continue to print one thing till we need to add 1 of something else then go back to the repeat model. I hadn't had a big order in a while but this would had been great where I had an order for 20 of one part and 20 of a second. I had to keep waking up to clear my plate.
do you know what pledge i have to sign up for to get a printer?

The idea is soo gooood. But my currency is 8 times less than usd. So trying to buy this machine will cost me 3 of minimum wage. I will supoort the project with designs.

I love the tacked on cardboard, it gives it a bit of that maker janky attribute to it XD (I also like the Idea of printing people running on the thing and just letting it go for like 50 printed people and doing a time lapse
The wheel fur is the wheels wearing down I had that on my ender 3 in bought in 2018. It seems mostly harmless but after awhile the wheels wore down into the V-grooves, after maybe 5k hours of printing. I think the wheels were too tight.
WHOAAA - that Y & Z axis trade off is a mind bender. Glad I watch Joel ☺️😁
Was the "fur" material lost from the wheels from the friction of being over tensioned?
And about bed heating? How is it made in belt printers?
joel we need you to hit us with some more huge prints my man. keep up the good work
What is a good slicer for this just got one and wanna find a good onr
For sword/long items, leave a hollow in the middle and glue some carbon fiber rods/tubes for additional stiffness.
I'm really curious if you can print a plane on it and how complex that can be. 3DLabPrint vs Eclipson or similar
As far as the sword being wiggly, if simply gluing it does not work, print again with a channel in each one fitting a length of metal rod. You could have nubs sticking out (welded) at the ends of the rod, and maybe at one or two key locations along the length and have small indentations for those as well. Use some good silicon adhesive in one channel, slip the rod in, adhesive in the other channel and whatever solvent for holding the halves together on the flat faces of the blades, and slap it together, clamp and leave it for a few days. That would be my solution. You could also just use the printer to make a mold and end up casting it.
The potential for batch manufacture is quite impressive, given the quirks of 45 degree offset
Looking at all the reviews of this machine over the past few weeks and I think it struggles a little on normal builds you would do on your standard printer but it excels in other areas that your day to day printer just couldn't do unless in many parts. The build quality looks great (although how long the belt will last as every review reports black deposits on prints) and I am very interested in this printer, but I don't think it will be a case of this is the only printer you will need, the quality in certain positions isn't there. It's a shame there isn't another axis motor on the hotend so it could rotate, and adjust in the program for certain angles to get the quality there. Hopefully they will dial the slicer in and resolve the minor issues, but really nice job by all the designers involved
How long would it take to print a beam from California to New York?
I'm very iffy on Kickstarter and even more so for established companies using it. Not like we hadn't already been let down by a number of companies. I've read some still hadn't received their Creality 6 3d printers and the printer sold to open market before Kickstarter participants received theirs. The 6 seemed set in stone already before sold on Kickstarter but nice to see Creality had taken input on the cr30.
Where did you find the TIE Interceptor STL?
do we need supports if we print this 45 degrees uphill
