- Chuck shows you how to Slice 3D Designs for the Creality CR-30 Belt Printer in this week's Filament Friday episode. Slicing for a belt printer with an infinite Z bed requires a different setup as the nozzle is at a 45-degree angle. Creality released a version of Cura 3.6 that adds the CR-30 PrintMill profile and an infinite Z bed. Chuck also shows you how to easily print multiple repeating prints on the CR-30 using the CuraBelt slicer.

oh buddy, I could see doing some really spiffy RC boats with it. I have to split the hulls and glue them together on my Ender 3.
Enjoying your enthusiasm about this printer. It will be great to what you and other users come up with for applications.
I’m glad you have this printer as you are definitely coming at it from a unique and interesting angle. I think this will be quite eye opening for practical prints.
Brilliant video Chuck, I am looking forward to see what you do with the profiles. I've backed this, now I'm patiently waiting for it to arrive.
I really like your tips! You have helped me produce excellent and precise prints. Thank you and keep up the good work!!👌👌👌👍👍👍
Printing shelves and shelf braces would be a really practical use of one of these.
Really interesting indeed! 😃
Pretty impressive 3d printer, Chuck! Thanks for sharing!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I hope you publish your profiles for 3DPrintMill when we get our printer by May
Thanks! for your good videos, I always look forward to Friday! ;-)
Very good work and cool looking
Great video, great channel. Many greetings from Germany! :)
Another great video CHEP! hopefully in a couple months ill order a mill, still waiting to review the cr6se
Good points
Great video as always
Thanks for sharing :-)
Hi chusck. Can you show how to change the esteps on the cr30 is it just like any other machine, even thought the base is the Z axis?
The estimates in cura are usually off because of the start gcode in your printer setting which sets max speeds and the acceleration/feedrates.
Hi Chuck, I know you at least at one time used to run a small print farm. I am currently running two Enders 3
v2 as a print farm but would love to have a printer continually spit out prints. My prints are quite small about 40 x 20 x 20 mm and has over hangs on all sides which require supports (imaging a elongated mushroom). Would this printer be capable of doing this ? The strange print angle to the bed worries me, it would be better if it was still 90 degrees from the bed.
I wonder if you can print extrusion bars and basically make another printer from scratch (plus the hardware and stuff obviously)
extrusion bars would be sick, but I don't think it'll be strong enough unless at really high infill
Nice!!
Good video, chep. Could you imagine this beast with 2 or 3 extruders!? Give it two years or so...
I could see this on my 2021 xmas wish list. Should give some time to work out some quirks.
This was again a great video. What about nozzles you are using on this printer and wich one in general ? (types, manufacturer etc)
It came with 0.4. That’s what I’m using,
Why does the slicer let me enter 275c as the print temp when the max on the cr-30 is 240?
Hey Chep! I am using Creality Slicer 4.8. I have a model which is lifting. I dont see the slicer enabled option to print small round pads? Any way to fix this? I added a brim over the entire model and it held fine, but not able to remove it easily.
As someone that flies model aircrafts, I could use something like that to print whole wings.
looking for profiles for this printer do you have some ? it only had 1 trying to get a profile to print 3/4 " letters and numbers with no raft having no luck getting it to stick to the belt on a cr30
Hi, my cr30 does not print copies. If I set copy to 5 it prints one and then the printer stops.....
any idea how that would happen
Why I can't see the single layers like you did on 4:15 on my CURA 3.6.0 ?
EDIT: I had to click on "prepare" first of course.
Can you print different pieces at once? For example, 21 pieces, all different. I want to start with one and let it work, changing only the filament and sparing me time.
Where can I get this version of cura
I would like this version 3dprintmill
How does it work about supports with 45 angle? Is there any impossible (without supports) print that we can do with this machine?
45+ degree overhangs can't be printed in the Z direction I guess
@@jonahfastre mmm, so if I want to print an hole, usually I could even do it without supports... but 45 degree is not possible right? 🤔 that's a problem (or we have to use supports)
@@StefanoV827 with support it should be fine
Im too getting undersized prints in the z axis,
Do you have any tips to dial up it a bit more ?
By the way i really enjoy your content
Thanks for sharing your knowledge
You have a CR-30?
I think adjusting the Offset will help.
Is the "Creality Belt" slicer available for download? I'm having trouble finding it and I would like to see how some of my existing models slice.
Not yet.
Do you have a good start and end gcode?
Chuck, another great video, many thanks.
I've got a product I print for a client on my MAX which is in 2 pieces due to size, the belt printer would be a game changer, but do you think PETG via a 0.8 nozzle will be ok with the stock hot end etc... will the belt reach 80°c
I've seen lots of reviews with PLA and the 0.4 nozzle, which I appreciate will be what most folks use, but with in essence an infinite z axis surely it's screaming out for a bigger nozzle.
Great video as always.
Best regards,
James
It’s a volcano style hot end (intended for large volume flows) and I did see a video somewhere of someone using a 0.8 successfully (although probably with PLA). I think that end should work. As far as the bed temp, no idea.
@@JasperJanssen I thought it was just an Ender3 style hot end, if so then I wonder if the MicroSwiss hot end for the ender would swap right in.
I can see me having to buy one of these in order to find out 😆
where do you downloaded the slicer, can you send in the link?
Will you be releasing a Cura 4.8 profile? I haven't updated my profile in a while and I feel like my prints could look better.
Maybe. It was such a minor update, I’m not seeing big change.
Ngl I went back to the stock profile and I'm printing near flawlessly! My Ender 3 Pro isn't stock tho...BTT SKR Mini E3 v1.2 (Marlin 2.0.6.1), BL-Touch, dual-gear extruder, Capricorn Bowden tubing, PEI/steel flexplate, yellow springs, RPi4 w/Octoprint
Hi Chep. Was wondering if you still used this printer 2 years later?
Occasionally.
Printing parts for your next Spool racer?
Maybe.
Are they releasing the source for this modified version of Cura?
Not sure. I hope so.
Do you have profiles for the cr30 avail yet?
No. I’m still working on it.
Hi, the profiles you are working on are for what filaments. Can you share them with me pls.
For me a profile was on the SD card which shipped with the printer.
What the difference between and ender 3 and any high end ultimaker printer? 😅
Don’t have an Ultimaker so I can’t tell you.
Its an ",experimental " printer whith an "infinite z" so in theory yuo can make an infinite z object, its slice in 45 degrees, so its a totaly diferent class of machine.
In my opinion , if yuo need to make sword or rail trains ,it could be ok, but for me its just problems...its not for me
@@noway8233 I did not ask about this printer (infinite z) 😅 i asked about regular ender 3 vs high end ultimaker printer.
😲🔥👌👍
Where the link to the CuraBelt?
It wasn’t public at time of this. Still not sure it is.
"CrealityBelt" is on the sd card that comes with the CR-30. It's Cura 3.6.0
You could try making a many-hole beam in the same range - what about a one or two meter length version?
I’ve seen nobody really addressing on video the elephant in the room of how to make things significantly longer than the belt (like, 3-4 times as long, maybe, or longer). Is just a smooth support table enough to prevent it pulling the entire print off the bed? Do you need rollers? Maybe a support belt?
Good Question. I too am interested in that answer.
I believe creality also sells rollers for extending. The 3d printing nerd bought them with his printer so maybe go check him out
Somebody made a video where they printed a 16ft pole on it with a bunch of rollers I was also wondering at first
lol since the latest slicer it wont make any copies
I don't recommend using the "Distance Between Copies" function for 2 reasons.. 1. Your print will already be however tall your previous print was away from the next print so if the print is 50mm tall the next print will start 50mm away due to the angles axis.. Its not possible to hit the previous print unless you back up the Z axis.. 2. If you advance the belt too far you move cold belt under the print area.. Currently there is only about 25mm of belt preheating before the nozzle..
Why is it in the slicer?
@@FilamentFriday Other than because Blackbelt built it that way I have no clue.
Hmm, another potential side effect is that the 45 degree print angle is going to make the part stronger because the laminations are no longer planar to the XY axis. It would be interesting for someone to do a torsion test on a Printmill print versus a normal print object. I do not need this printer, I do not need this printer, I do not need this printer, I do not need this printer..............
Yes, we need somebody to do this test.
And yes, sounds like you do need this printer
hey chep i send you a christmas card
Thank You.
*CHEP:* I am disappointed by how you took away the download links to cura profiles. I was looking to buy a cr-30 but I am hesitant now bez you took it away you are giving it to premium members sorry gotta *unsubscribe* now... what a disappointing 😞 😕
My latest profiles are available for free. Then again if you oh subscribed you’d see that.
I also never had profiles for CR-30.
