  • Chuck shows you how to Slice 3D Designs for the Creality CR-30 Belt Printer in this week's Filament Friday episode. Slicing for a belt printer with an infinite Z bed requires a different setup as the nozzle is at a 45-degree angle. Creality released a version of Cura 3.6 that adds the CR-30 PrintMill profile and an infinite Z bed. Chuck also shows you how to easily print multiple repeating prints on the CR-30 using the CuraBelt slicer.

    The estimates in cura are usually off because of the start gcode in your printer setting which sets max speeds and the acceleration/feedrates.

    Hi Chuck, I know you at least at one time used to run a small print farm. I am currently running two Enders 3
    v2 as a print farm but would love to have a printer continually spit out prints. My prints are quite small about 40 x 20 x 20 mm and has over hangs on all sides which require supports (imaging a elongated mushroom). Would this printer be capable of doing this ? The strange print angle to the bed worries me, it would be better if it was still 90 degrees from the bed.

    Chuck, another great video, many thanks.
    I've got a product I print for a client on my MAX which is in 2 pieces due to size, the belt printer would be a game changer, but do you think PETG via a 0.8 nozzle will be ok with the stock hot end etc... will the belt reach 80°c
    I've seen lots of reviews with PLA and the 0.4 nozzle, which I appreciate will be what most folks use, but with in essence an infinite z axis surely it's screaming out for a bigger nozzle.
    Great video as always.

      @JasperJanssen Před 3 lety +1

      It’s a volcano style hot end (intended for large volume flows) and I did see a video somewhere of someone using a 0.8 successfully (although probably with PLA). I think that end should work. As far as the bed temp, no idea.

    You could try making a many-hole beam in the same range - what about a one or two meter length version?
    I’ve seen nobody really addressing on video the elephant in the room of how to make things significantly longer than the belt (like, 3-4 times as long, maybe, or longer). Is just a smooth support table enough to prevent it pulling the entire print off the bed? Do you need rollers? Maybe a support belt?

  • @NAK3DDesigns
    @NAK3DDesigns Před 3 lety +1

    I don't recommend using the "Distance Between Copies" function for 2 reasons.. 1. Your print will already be however tall your previous print was away from the next print so if the print is 50mm tall the next print will start 50mm away due to the angles axis.. Its not possible to hit the previous print unless you back up the Z axis.. 2. If you advance the belt too far you move cold belt under the print area.. Currently there is only about 25mm of belt preheating before the nozzle..

    Hmm, another potential side effect is that the 45 degree print angle is going to make the part stronger because the laminations are no longer planar to the XY axis.
