EXPLAINED: Record Russian Troop Losses, 'Executions' and a Kremlin in Denial

  • Russian personnel losses are so high and morale is so low that soldiers are being executed for not following orders, according to the White House.
National Security Council spokesman John Kirby, said on Thursday that as well as individual cases of capital punishment, entire units were being threatened with execution if they retreat from Ukrainian artillery fire.
    He described it as “reprehensible”.
Watch the video to find out how bad Russian troop losses really are and see the Kremlin’s reaction.

I think we need to be pragmatic about things. There will need to be concessions on both sides even though it is true that Russia (really just the dictator Putin) is the aggressor and is fully responsible. Unfortunately, in this world very bad people get away with very bad things. I think the thing that should be non-negotiable is having whatever of Ukraine survives this be admitted into NATO. This will be the only way to stop further aggression from Russia. Also I think Ukraine has proven itself in battle and how effective they are with NATO weaponry. They would be a huge asset and deterrent to Russia.

A neighbor of mine is Ukrainian. He has relatives in Kiev. He informs me that one of his relatives, in the Ukrainian army, captured a company or Russian soldiers with no effort at all. One of the Russians approached his unit and politely begged them to let him surrender. They said yes and then the guy said he had friends who also would like to surrender. All of a sudden, 67 Russian soldiers march single file un armed with their hands up. They are the long survivors of a company that was originally over 200 strong. The highest ranking surviving member of the company was a sergeant. The officers had been killed though it is unclear if it was by Ukrainian soldiers or their own men. The surrendering men had said that they had been ordered to hold a position which would have resulted in likely all of them dying and they were tired of watching their comrades die and the order had come down that if they lost the position the entire company would be put to death. So the report in this video from what I have heard is true and probably understated. These are the sort of tactics that Hitler employed.

This level of cruelty and indifference is nothing new - if you read Anthony Beevor’s monumental history of Stalingrad it’s all there: human wave attacks, saving equipment not men, ‘blocking brigades’ and so on. One of the interesting things in another of Beevor’s books D-Day was the number of Russians fighting for the Wehrchmart - something that Red Army observers and propaganda brigades effectively covered up: sounds familiar - complete disregard for soldiers lives and an effective disinformation campaign. Btw also then as now large numbers of Siberians and of course Ukrainians fought in the Red Army in WWII - this is conveniently forgotten by the Kremlin in its mythical worship of the Great Patriotic War

True, The Russians today are very vague about who pushed the Germans back. They conveniently forget all the other people held in their “empire” that had to fight. Russians have always been a parasite nation feeding off other peoples skills and resources such as Ukrainian heavy industry and shipbuilding. The real Russians living in western Russia want an easy life based on the labor and sacrifice of the enslaved peoples. Their long term strategy is to sacrifice these peoples and gradually Russify their lands. Statin’s appalling treatment of Ukraine in the holodomor is a perfect example. Putin is gradually chewing through the minorities from the east while preserving his true Slavic Russians.

After the end of World War 2 General Georgi Zhucov delighted in telling General Eisenhower and Field Marshal Montgomery that he had cleared minefields by having Russian infantry run through them detonating the mines and clearing a path through which he attacked because it saved time and he rarely had trained sappers. Montgomery and Eisenhower were shocked and appalled.

It's very unfortunate that now many young men (kids sometimes) from as far away as Nepal, Cuba, Africa are being attracted by the money and promises of non-combat "laborers jobs" and then sent straight to the front. They are killing not only their own. Ukraine has a foreign battalion too, but that's mostly internationals who feel they are fighting for freedom of a attacked victim and kinship with Ukrainians.

You need to listen to some intercepted calls back to home & POW interviews, Anita. Apparently none are being paid what they are promised. If your command is decent you will receive enough for some to send home. The rest to buy vodka. In most units the commanders will skim payroll & the soldiers hardly get anything. Many require bribes for choice duties where you won't be killed in the first few days.

Those Ruskies surrendering to Ukraine are taking a big risk as well as Ukrainians taking a big risk accepting surrendering Ruskies. So far the Ukrainians have guessed right that the Ruskies are actually surrendering and no one has been shot during such a surrender. However, the Ruskies could act like they are surrendering then attack once they are within range of the Ukrainians or Ukrainian soldiers could think the Ruskies are going to use that ruse and start shooting. To me, this is a big problem that could come to fruition at any time. I urge the Ukrainians to be extremely careful accepting any "surrendering" Ruskies, eventually Putin is going to order his Ruskie soldiers to use such a ruse and all hell is going to break loose -- the Ukrainians need to not trust any surrendering Ruskies until they know that they have disarmed them and tied them up helplessly and tight!
