  • The transition from President Donald J. Trump to President Joseph R. Biden Jr. is one of the most tumultuous periods in recent American history. Robert Costa and his co-author Bob Woodward have taken on the task of documenting the transition in a never-before-seen way in their new book, Peril.
With material ranging from secret orders to transcripts of phone conversations from the Trump and Biden White House, the 2020 campaign, and more, Peril is the story about changes, a first inside look into Biden’s presidency, and the unique challenges that face the new administration.
Join Costa he as analyzes this intense period in history as well as the overall landscape of American politics in 2021.

First - Thank you for this interview CCC 👍🏻. Robert Costa, great interview and thank you and Mr. Woodward for writing this book. We truly need it desperately. My God, we truly are in Peril. 😰. Almost daily I find myself on a rant about HOW?? in the hell this TWICE IMPEACHED criminal was not immediately held accountable for ordering the march from the rally (saying he was going to go with them . . . 'to take the country back with strength not weakness.' Whattttt???). Undeniably 100% responsible for the insurrection on Jan 6th.
Then watching the GOP flip-flop almost immediately after they denounced tRump's responsibility for inciting it (McConnell/effn Lindsey Graham/ etc etc). Makes me literally sick. How, when we have undeniable VIDEO evidence showing the brutal insurrectionist attacking our Capitol DURING the count to transfer power? How???? Who can support these criminals? Have you know conscience? Have you no decency, honor, and respect for the Law and your obligation to uphold and defend and protect the Constitution? I'm literally sick with worry about this - and to imagine that we had the chance to take him out and we didn't take it when the shameless sycophantic GOP voted to acquit. I'm embarrassed for our country. May God have mercy on us. As much as I try hard to be optimistic, I fear that we are lost.

I am not surprised at all! When Obama got elected and refuse to form a Committee to investigate the Invasion of Iraq on a Pack of Lies, what Trump did was truly expected!
Recall the Supreme Ct Awarded GW Bush his election, after STOPPING the count of Votes in FL. Trump knowing all of this, after stacking the Court, appointing more Federal Judges than past President's, Trump FIRMLY believe that he COULD overthrow this election, and I truly understand why, because of the INACTION of Obama and the Democrats! I truly believe this will face another Insurrection and it will be more violent and DEADLY! I believe we will observe a Civil War in 2024 if a Republican gets close to winning the Presidential elections!

Typically the projection they have shown on so many issues about voter fraud will become common in their controlled legislatures. At first I could only understand it when I remember what I know about the limbic system activating fear & anger based responses that override the prefontal cortex. But then I had to add the knowledge that usually when the threat or whatever it is triggering the emotion doesn't get eliminated by that response, the prefrontal cortex kicks in to say, "hey this isn't really a solution, leave it and try something else"
So when 2020 rolled around and they all still voted for him I finally just said, yep it's officially a cult. Going back to psychology and neurobiology, though, it also seems that a lot of his supporters are abuse survivors/currently victims (not just of him) which is strengthened with them having become codependent on the identity he gives them.
You may already know some of this/the logical explanations and were moreso expressing the "JUST MAKE IT EFFING MAKE SENSE" frustration of it all which I definitely empathize with! But if you are curious about more of this, I could write a bit more (kind of unfortunately lol) and find some sources.

What americans don't get is that Trump administration didn't look like strength for the rest of the world but weakness. And even more so all the post-trumpism, along with the influence on the high level politics of the Q phenomenon, the far-out political evangelicals, the white and nazi militias, the paranoid fear of everything intellectual, the contempt of science etc. The 9/11 showed the world the incompetence and the incapability of the american intelligence and military even on their home ground. The reactions to it as well. And everything after that has been not an epic heroic story but a mess producing new problems not only worldwide but on the american soil too. Big time. Right now America looks like a one big cult in an inner turmoil, a weak and terrified nation in a leaking ship without a rudder and a helm, without a compass and a map. It has given almost deliberately the upper hand for Xi, Putin, Kim and else to behave nasty for their own citizens and in their foreign policy. The hole in the balloon called the USA has been registered in Europe a long time ago now as well, and it has caused a lot of turbulence in here too. Biden's also been a disappointment in the EU and NATO, as weak and thoughtless as his predecessor. It is what it is because it's not a person or a party, not the deep state, Illuminati or the UFOs whose responsible. The root causes are deeper in the history of the USA and in the american psyche, just breaking through now.

“The Dangerous Case Of Donald Trump” is a must read. What’s especially sickening is that the book came out in 2017, and it reads like a historical record of what happened during his presidency and after. I lived in Manhattan from 1966-2006, so I had decades to observe this obnoxious, obese 🍊 douche bag commit countless crimes and be an all around public nuisance. I was in Manhattan the night he “won” the presidency, and New Yorkers were freaking out. People were on the streets screaming obscenities, some were vowing to “get” the morons who voted for him, some were openly crying, some were shocked beyond words and looked like they were witnessing 9/11 all over again. Many of us knew this would mean either nuclear war or Nazi style eliminations of those Trump didn’t like. Granted, that’s a bit extreme....but not by much. I had a gut feeling so strong he would cause millions to die that I couldn’t sleep for 3 days until I just passed out. What I couldn’t have predicted was that so many would willingly die from an easily preventable virus because Trump told them it didn’t exist, when he was on record in February of 2020 saying it was deadly.

I totally agree. When folks talk about the majority of voters being in favor of such changes it always rings true - unfortunately a small group of bad actor/junior lawyers is capable of so much - really basic values would need to change (in deed) for our society to flourish long-term i believe

I often am a bit of a cheapskate when it comes to buying just-released hard cover books, but I bought this book as soon as I read the first reviews.
It was absolutely worth it -- investigative journalism at its best, and crucial reading, given the continuing efforts to undermine the very things that saved our democracy from efforts by Trump and his followers to overturn a legitimate election.
