  • Veteran journalist Jonathan Karl has known and covered Donald J. Trump longer than any other White House reporter. And during that time, he has been praised, taunted and branded an enemy of the people by President Trump himself.
    So possibly nobody is in a better position to tell the story of the shocking final chapter of the Trump show than Karl. In his new book Betrayal: The Final Act of the Trump Show, Karl takes us behind the scenes of some of the darkest days in American history and shares what happened during the final weeks of the Trump presidency, the aftermath that followed, and what it means for the future of the Republican Party.

      All these people who think we live in a country that allows what Trump and his cronies are allowed to get away with should be sent to a very small island with no way to get off of it. Let's see how many days they could all survive in close proximity of who their leader might be. Mayhem I say. Without money they would all do away with each other.

      Start by bringing back something like the fairness doctrine in media to get rid of Faux “News”. It’s nonsense that they’re allowed to spew constant lies and BS. There are no journalists left at Fox, after Chris Wallace took off, he might’ve been one of the last with integrity.
      You’d also have to start funding your education system properly - Americans have troves of uneducated, ignorant folks. And a universal health care system (what is it, 1 in 5 Americans dealing with untreated mental illness…yikes). And liveable wages. As long as you don’t have any of this, the US will continue to circle the drain! Watching from Canada here, we have everything listed and unsurprisingly, we’re voted best country in the world to live in 2020 - we have some of the highest university grad rates on the planet. And we’re only separated by a border (which I wouldn’t mind restricted with your irresponsible handling of COVID pandemic. Your selfish, gun-obsessed culture is gross, no other country has such a broken mentality and allows almost daily mass shootings. You have a lot of work ahead, and quite frankly I worry for my American friends!

    Jonathan's Last Point Was Exactly The Reason I Blamed The Networks For Their Haste In Reporting Incomplete Election Results. They Should Have Made It Crystal Clear That Votes Are Still Pending. • @g1a1r1y3
      @g1a1r1y3 Před 2 lety +1

      Every network I watched that night was clear about early voting, in-person voting, absentee ballots, etc. Steve Kornack at MSNBC did an exemplary job. On the other hand, FOX forced-fed its viewers the idea that something "weird" was happening as the evening progressed. I know because I watched their election night coverage too.
      Secondly, for months before the election Trump kept telling people that if he lost, it was because of fraud and a rigged election. So he was conditioning those people even before the election. After the election was called, he and his minions continued the false election claims, with the aid of FOX.
      Finally, polls have shown that only small percentages of Republicans felt the election was rigged immediately following election night. The fact that a year later a majority of Republican, trump-supporting, FOX watchers believe that the election was rigged is because for every day for the past year they've been told that it was with no supporting proof.
      Anyone who thinks otherwise hasn't been paying attention.

We’ve all watched him for years, heard about the bad things for which he is responsible, his speeches, his antics around the White House time. We ask ourselves, “Why isn’t he in jail?”. His followers are saying, “He must be right. He’s not a criminal or he’d be in jail. Let’s follow his lead”. He is free to grift, and lie, and command the New Republicans. He lives like a king. So, if US Democracy is dying, did he kill it? So, if he orchestrated a coup, a bona fide act of treason, then why has no one prosecuted him? Until he’s in jail, all this, Kicking a Dead Horse, is just more of the same old BS. TEXAS

The media is acting as if voting Republican is still an option like it’s been in years past, when in fact, they are now an organized coup attempt to overthrow our constitution. The fact that they are not running as a party who’s goal is to further our constitutional democracy, but rather, destroy the voting options and control the result of future elections, disqualifies them as a legitimate AMERICAN party. A constitutional change to authoritarianism in our country would require the desire of a great majority. To manipulate control by means of implanting dissenters within our present system, is an attack- not an election.

    Really great interview! I especially appreciated hearing @Jonathan Karl talking about the difficulty of covering campaign season if one side is trying to dismantle fair elections. Let’s hope the process of congressional investigation moves into public hearings and any indictments before the democrats lose the ability to pursue justice.

    Did Guiliani book four seasons landscaping by mistake? Karl just says that Trump thought it was the hotel. Not whether Guilianis team also effed up

      It wasn’t a mistake, they ran out of money and couldn’t afford the real thing. Just another of many cons by tRumps team.
