  • September 12, 2014 I continue to practice and perfect my landings. Here are 6 normal landings and 3 no-flap landings at KOAK and then a no-flap landing back at KPAO. For the first no-flap landing I did a forward slip to lose altitude without gaining airspeed. I am still landing flat about 50% of the time and that center line remains elusive but I am getting better. Tail cam video only. The cable slipped out of the cockpit camera so it didn't record audio on this flight. Flying a Cessna 172SP out of KPAO under the instruction of (and with thanks for his immense patience) Mark Erwin www.mark1aviation.com.

Very reassuring that I'm not the only student pilot in the world having issues with landings and staying on the center line LOL. Can you honestly say using the go pro underneath helped at all ?

William Fence Very much so. As soon as I could see what was going on during that last three feet then I was able to significantly improve my flare and landing. I don't even think about it anymore. Finding the center line is a different story. The video was able to show me what was going on (consistently putting down the right wheel on the center line) but it has been a hard thing for me to correct. Take a look at my Airport Round Robin Video to see how things have progressed: czcams.com/video/Q1NJWEJXwtY/video.html

Nice job. I'm training in a 172 also. Are your instructors telling you full back pressure until the plane slows down.

On the ground? Flaps up immediately and full back pressure to help slow down so you aren't relying on the brakes.
