  • Michael Biehn discusses how he was approached with the script of Tombstone and his decision to become Johnny Ringo at the 2014 Comic Con in Phoenix. Surprisingly his first choice of character to play was Doc Holliday.
He also describes his favorite scene of Tombstone and his most memorable moment as an actor.
At the end of the video i have placed the scene he describes and the moment he claims is his favorite as an actor.

I met Michael Biehn while driving a limo gig in Pittsburgh. We were scheduled to pick up actors at the airport as they arrived for the "ComiCon" convention. He was absolutely incredible. Very engaging, talkative, polite, humble and kind. At the end of the ride to the convention hotel, I asked Michael for his autograph on my "Tombstone" DVD. He graciously signed it, "I want your blood. - Michael Biehn"

It took me several views to realize just how good Miehn's performance as Johnny Ringo is. He's not spotlighted, he's all in black, not big or hulking, and he plays the role perfectly as a venomous, sociopathic stone cold killer. Doc Holliday would not have been perfect without the perfectly, subtly brilliant foil of Johnny Ringo.

In 19th century mining camps they swore up a storm. Milch added modern cursing so they all didn’t sound like Yosemite Sam. I’m sorry your sensibilities were damaged and couldn’t handle big boy Westerns🤣. The acting, dialogue, cinematography, sets, & cast were the best ever. My brothers and I met him and his wife and we had a conversation for 30minutes about working with James Cameron, Tombstone and Hill Street Blues. He even mentioned that I had beautiful teeth when I smiled. Lol My favorite performances of Biehn is Kyle Reese, Johnny Ringo, Hicks, Bly from The Art of War, and Lt. Coffey in The Abyss.

Michael Biehn was the ultimate psychopath in Tombstone! Those crazy eyes!!! VERY believable portrayal!!!! There is NO ignoring Val Kilmers' contribution!!! He stole the show!!!! Val's performance was sublime. But Michael's was a close second!!! And considering Kurt Russel was forced to not only star in the movie, but also double duty as director (unbeknownst to him beforehand) he did a fantastic job! Honestly, Tombstone is in my top 5! Thank you all for your hard work and dedication to your craft. You have brought untold joy to my life because of it! Lori Buonamici Kilmer's performance would not have been as good without Bien's own performance. Definitely one of my favorite scenes ever. It was like: OK! Let's see what JUSTICE really is. Show everyone, right now. And we were not let down.

That's honestly a very fine moment. Each actor is trying to outshine the other, and -- corny though this script can sometimes get -- they take it to a whole different place. I think of this as Biehn's last hurrah (with maybe half a nod to his later cameo in The Rock), and, well, it's a pretty solid one.

Michael Biehn did such a great job as Johnny Ringo. He looks so different with a moustache ! this was my favorite scene of the movie.

He was awesome. Biehn and Kilmer really kicked ass in a film FULL of great acting from big stars. And that was a great moment in the film.
"My fight's not with you, Holiday."
"I believe it is. We started a game we never got to finish."
    "Alright, Lunger. Let's do it."
You can see that both men really know what's coming and neither of them are afraid

I've always felt like this was a summer popcorn type action movie made to be attractive to the summer masses of movie goers, but the elevated performances of actors like Mike Biehn, Val Kilmer, Kurt Russell, etc, combined with the script that's better than it seems on first watch, really elevated this movie into an all-time classic. Between this role and Beihn's role in Terminator, another absolute all-time classic film in its Sci-Fi genre, his legacy will live on for a long, long time after he passes.
When you can watch a movie over and over, and still be entertained by it every time, it's truly a work of art, not just something put together to rake the audience for the price of a ticket.

Absolutely agree with him on that - I really don't think there was ever a role or roles better suited for two Actors than Val Kilmer as Doc, and Michael Biehn as Johnny - Whoever decided you're this guy, and you're that guy, nailed this. I have watched this movie so many times I literally know every line from beginning to end by heart - And I am One, not a big fan of Westerns, and Two, not even a movie-goer all that much - But Tombstone was a Masterpiece. I also wholeheartedly agree that Val Kilmer, and Michael Biehn should have won Oscars for the Roles they played - They Stole that movie from Kurt, not that he didn't do a great job himself as Wyatt Earp - Hell, every Actor in Tombstone was Amazing - But to me, the Feud between Doc Holiday and Johnny Ringo - That WAS the Movie - Flawless Performances all around though.
