I've listened to this song at least 6 or 7 times today. And each time I'm brought to tears. Probably because I have a love for someone like that. This jaw-dropping performance was my gateway drug to Fabian about 2 years ago, and my admiration for her has only grown deeper as I obsessively looked for into her work.
This was a cover that she pretty substantially tweeked to famously make her own. She calls herself a "songwriter with a voice" as she composes and writes most of her own material - in French, English, Spanish & Italian. Technical master with otherworldly emotive performance skills.

maybe Adagio by Lara is a new original version with english lyrics, but there are lots of other versions too, eg the original orchestral version from centuries ago, a version by Demis Roussos (i found that after her reaction to him a few day ago), and of course also the versions by Lara and by Dimash.
just like "love is like a dream", you can go down many rabbit holes when starting to look up songs of Lara, Dimash, and Igor, eg from this song there is the 25 year old original by Alla Pugacheva, a later version by Lara, and finally also Dimash, each of them having their own different styles.

I was listening to the original recording of this song (Serge Lama, who co-wrote it about his own experience with a woman he loved) on Montreal radio in 1974... and I first saw this video of Lara's performance when I was living on Haida Gwaii in 2001. I've been listening to her sing since the early 1990s, and in this performance she SLAYS this song. One of her best *ever*.
The hope of every artist is to bare our soul and finally be free of constraint as is demonstrated in this performance.
