    This literally goes to show just how subjective beauty is. It kinda reminds me of that one episode of the Twilight Zone, "The Eye of the Beholder" where the beautiful girl is considered ugly while everyone else is gruesomely defirmed, yet that is that world's beauty norm.

    Yikes, I'm glad this is only fiction, since this idea of beauty tax would only lead to the worst, as shown in this story about Aiko. Beauty is subjective, but "ugly" people would end up being favorable. There is also not a direct correlation between getting having an advantage and being beautiful. That is possible, like many other attributes a person can have and like many other aspects of a person.

    • @guillaumejoop6437
      @guillaumejoop6437 Před 2 lety +6

    • @justjames4
      @justjames4 Před rokem +4

      @@OlivierWangTheReiVilo Interesting, but I'm sure there are still many people that don't treat "beautiful" people highly, like me. Additionally, what I meant by that there isn't a "direct" correlation is that, in other people who treat "beautiful" people highly, the appearance of the "beautiful" people may be what stimulates the feeling, but ultimately the direct cause of the better treatment is that the other people feel like appreciating "beautiful" people more due to them having a quality they like. Beauty is a cause of a cause. Basically, someone being "beautiful" often leads to others liking them which leads to better treatment, but there are _many_ other aspects of a person that often lead to others liking them which leads to better treatment, and the favorable aspects depend on which people the person in question is surrounded by.

      @@blackatom4957 ooohh but if we are talking about real life tho, there are many handsome and cute men/boys that have the same privilege. There are literally men that have sugar daddies or sugar mommies or even both, using their handsome/beauty/cute privilege. There are so many men that actually get a job better because they are attractive, because in a society, if you have two very talented people applying for a job, big chance you will take the one thats attractive and if possible, younger. Esp in retail jobs and office work where you meet clients. And dont forget celebrities and influencers, many attractive men excells just like beautiful women.
      One of the point of the film, is to highlight how the government that pass this law were mostly men. So in hindsight, we can assume that they didnt want men to get in the same situation, didnt want any of them to have a chance to get taxed. As you can see, the protesters before the tax were complaining that this is a discrimination against women, they too agree that this is very misogynistic. However, because the women that are "unattractive" outweighed the women who are attractive, they didnt protest at all when the tax happened.
      This is a campy film with very interesting message overall, and in a way, kinda hit the reality because in some countries, there are actually laws that restrict women while the men arent restricted that much. Fun fact, the producers and even many of the actress and actors also made a point that this is very controversial because in a way, they are calling out how society can be very misogynistic. The lady that played Aiko also opened up when asked about it that she wasnt keen about the idea of taxing people that are beautiful, because tax should be something equals to all people regardless how they look and more about their wealth.
      Edit : And I forgot to add, that this whole movie basically in a way are saying, that the pressure of being a woman is very high on this society, because as you can see, the beauty standard changed at the end of the movie. It proves that because they made a beauty tax legal, it also basically made society esp men, to sexualize and stereotype women even more to the point that beauty standard became a trend that can changed even quicker, because it is controlled by law, money, and pride, while before beauty is considered subjective.

      We are so much brainwashed into thinking that not paying taxes is a crime, is something bad, when in reality it's not, forcing people to pay something they never agreed to spend money on is a crime.
      Politicians buying elections with tax money, they promise free school free health care, free this free that, just to get elected, but in reality nothing is free you pay for that this way or another. Why schools are expensive, why medicare is expensive, only because governments had to put their fingers there, politicians promise free everything just to get elected and when they deliver on promise schools and hospitals raise their bills to the sky because government is paying and they have money.
      Politicians are lazy bastards, imagine if private businessesman was like politician, he wouldn't get anywhere, politicians don't work hard they take our hard earned money mostly for like I said their political points, instead of making politicians work run some government businesses that earn money, how hard it would be to nationalise some jobs, and make money that way, but easier way is to just steal from us, that way politicians don't have to move their finger.

Some of them even get plastic surgery to make themselves look ugly, which doesn't always work. So, it is like people trying to get plastic surgery to make themselves look beautiful ended up looking uglier due to excessive plastic surgery. The film talks about the heart-cleansing work required by Aiko. It also blames the beautiful women for their privileges. But what if the issue isn't the pretty women? What if the issue is with shallow bystanders (e.g. other men and women)? Men favoring prettier women is a fault who's blame resides solely on the men. The jealousy and covetousness within her friends are marks of their own impure hearts. Aiko's focus solely on her facial beauty is a character flaw that she needs to address. This is not a complaint of the film in any way. This seems to be the only film of its kind.. in my purview, but nonetheless. The point is that this has got me thinking and it's an incredible movie.
